Why do more and more films seem to have scene where the.girl has 2 hands clamped round her throat trying to choke/strangle her????
Am i the only one who finds this a little bit disturbing?
Don't get me wrong i love rough gonzo sex, nothing turns me on more than seeing a girl seriously fucked hard either in the pussy or anal or both. Taylor rain's scene for example in un-natural sex. She is getting fucked nice and hard then the men try to strangle her!!! why?????
I know that we all have different tastes and that all taking part are consenting adults but what worries me are the people who actually get turned on by watching this.
I for one when watching this scene completely lost wood once this part of the scene started.
Am I alone??

I don't mind it when it's done right. What I hate is when it looks like they're competing in the WWE.
I've said it before, I'll say it again.... it's now to the point in porn you need a checklist on the cover that lists how many scenes of each action is in the film:
Oral M->F Oral F->M Vaginal Anal V Creampie A Creampie Choking (F) Slapping ... ..
That way we can make better choices as a consumer. If we knew up front the kind of trash in some movies, we wouldn't rent/buy them. It's like forcing others views on us.
I'm not saying it should be illegal...it gets SOME people off (for some reason), but should be clearly advertized as such so we can make educated decisions.
The sole time I have ever felt choking has added anything to a scene is in the opening scene of Please 9 between Lynn Stone and Nacho Vidal - they were both clearly into it and enjoying the intensity of the experience and it really did lift the whole scene onto a new level.
Generally though, this is something that I am entirely neutral about: it is not something I look for in a film nor is it something that bothers me. The exception to that rule would be if the girl showed any sign of genuine distress or displeasure. But, in fact, what we see most of the time is tame play-acting and if there are people who enjoy watching it then I am not going to begrudge them that - after all there are doubtless things that I like seeing in a porn film that other people don't like or can't see the appeal of.

I like it.
I have often held my ground here saying if the girls doesn't like it she'll probably stop it - which I have seen in scenes. You know where the guy just places his hand on her neck and she pushes it or moves it away... Regardless, these are adults, let them decide what they like and don't like.
(wanted to add this as an after thought) Now I DO NOT like it when a girl is choked and doesn't like/want it, at that point it crosses a line...
You guys should try letting your girls choke you during sex. It actually feels quite good and it isn't necessarily always about violence and dominance.
I like it if the guy doing it seems sincere and not just a cold and unfeeling performer. A little pain is just one more hot sensation to add to the equation.
This is very true. Before every scene there is always a discussion between performers about "do's & don'ts". And then there are whores like me that have no rules and demand to choked, slapped, throat fucked etc etc.
Thanks for your honesty and I can vouch for the discussion held before scenes though I haven't had the pleasure of seeing one of your scenes, yet!!! see ya next week.

And that's why I like watching your scenes , but on a side note, it's good to know that the discussions do go on.
Oh, and Hillary, thanks for your addition to this topic, it's always nice to have a performer add their 2 cents - especially when it's pertaining to the female performer(s) and you certainly fall into that category
I hate it. even when girl is into it. It's biggest Turn Off i know.
I try my best not to buy any choking movies, i read cavr.com and wcareviews.com -reviews a lot, Thanks guys. And i have performer/director/company -blacklist, so far it has worked good. Sometimes i have to take risk, if company/director is new or something. Still i have not seen choking in long long time. I afraid that someday my luck runs out

Yeah, a few have spoken very loudly. The rest have stopped buying porn.

Where from you know about that??? ADT is flocked by non-mainstream porn consumers, IMO. If chocking/strangling would not sell, it would not get produced. If no girl would be prepared to stage it, neither.
For me chocking/strangling does absolutely nothing. But without always carring a check-list upon porn-shoppings I usually dont meet this acts anyway. And if I do, so what? What is the FF-button for?!?!!!
I still like it that here at ADT we have quite a few porn fans voicing their demands laudely no matter how mainstream politically correct they may sound. I think porn directors know how to value our input without giving ADT 100% of customer-voice.

I ran a store and interacted with the customers. I run a website and interact with the members. I have stats of what sells. I have stats of what people search for.
Marketing has a lot more to do with what sells than content does. Ask any online store what sells the most and they'll say whatever is on the homepage.

I would like to see this!
Thanks, Steph. I am just an ordinary forum talker trying to be level headed. I never run a porn store, nor produced porn. I am just a fan - just a consumer.
If I were 18 again and would visit a videostore for the first time ending up most probably - due to rack space occupation - with the generic "US-gonzo" showing choking, slapping, throat fucking, and head stomping (presented in the usual absolutely unerotic way) I probably would leave pornography, or rather porn movies, untouched thereafter. Too much hassle and effort to single out the pearls. Other media are much more user-friendly to check out the quality of the product on beforehand.
Ah, and while I don't mind the odd Andrew Blake, believe me, what the gonzo-crowd considers hard, is chickenshit compared to my preferences or fantasies brought to life, I like to watch or read.
Hell, if I were Mr. or Mrs. "I can actually produce a something which may be considered a videoclip or movie", I would demand a second adult booth in stores or at least racks with with a certain distance to the racks of some products.
Choking is sexy when it's done right. I hate it when the girl isn't into it or the guy keeps choking until she's three seconds away from meeting her maker.
I hate it and won't watch it. I stay well away from studios where there's a risk I'll run into it.
Damn thing is, I've got a DVD with an otherwise great scene. But even though the girl is totally OK with Mark Davis cutting off her air supply twice, I haven't watched the DVD since I first got it.
I don't really care how much Mr. Davis thinks he knows what he's doing, I still find it irresponsible and 110% pure woodkill.
I totally agree with you. For me, being choked out is really scary. I know a lot of chicks who really dig it, though. I personally hate it.
I like a little throat play in my own life (hand clapsed around my neck/throat--more symbolic gesture than anything-- without cutting off oxygen or blood flow) and I won't stop the people in front of my camera from doing it. But if a chick is begging to be choked out, I will put the camera down and stop what's before me.
Re. using the FF-button. I find choking SO offensive that I don't want to see it at ALL. Therefore, the FF-button isn't even an option for me. I do my best to (via reviews) totally AVOID buying DVDs with any choking in them. Sadly, that is getting harder and harder to do:(( And once you buy that oh so EXPENSIVE DVD that has choking in it that you didn't even know was there is spite of reading ALL the reviews you could get your hands on, your STUCK with it, the store you bought it from WON'T give you either a refund or an exchange or store credit!! HARD earned money down the drain DOESN'T feel good and feels worse with each time that it happens!
To put choking and or face slapping and or head stomping in DVDs that aren't so called "fetish" titles seems to say that it's not a "fetish", that not just one segment of porn consumers enjoys it but all do. There are DVDs featuring nothing but: busty girls, black girls, oriental girls, "bubble butt" girls, "teen" girls, F to M blow-jobs and M to F facials, anal sex, POV sex, "mature" women, blondes, squirting, F masturbating, DP sex, the list could go on and on and on. Given it's controversial nature and that IT IS a "fetish", choking and or face slapping and or head stomping should be seperate from all other types of porn and NOT be included on 80-90% of DVDs that come out of "porn valley"! Hypothetically, how would you like it if ALL the studios decided to put evangelical sermons on 80-90% of all the DVDs they release? Would you not want those sermons NOT included or at least made into a speciality line of porn DVDs?

I really like when theres choking going on here and then.
In extreme gonzo films only. I am not implying that the whole industry needs to go in this direction and I would never say such a thing either. Furthermore, only actresses who prefer to perform in this line of work should do it. There are plenty of non-aggressive sex films being produced these days and always have been. No one needs to stop buying porn since variety exists to meet everyone's tastes.
A similar statement the one I made in the 'Why are so many film titles derogatory to women?' thread.
It is far too easy for people to take things the wrong way when they are looking at them in the wrong context. I don't wish to imply that studios have to only produce rough sex films.
Well since I have now had a moderator and an administrator question or make comment on my opinions which I feel have been misinterpreted. I will not be making anymore replies in this thread or further read anyone's comments in this thread to prevent myself from being tempted. Say what you will about the topic.
I do not wish to upset the staff here at AdultDVDTalk as they are in fact doing a fine job.
See, I have a limited experience in gonzo but what I have seen in "face slapping" is often not carried out in a safe way (since I don't assume a gonzo production uses some sophisticated special effects). (Most probably my gonzo experience did not lead me to extreme gonzo [I know MH, Khan Tusion from trailers only])
This gonzo-slapping would have kicked you out immediately from an "amateur" party. So much for professional sex workers.
Don't even get me started on asphyxiation - that is what the euphemism "choking" stands for. And spare me all the excuses with they release the airflow-block just in time, because not even an expert physician in anaesthesia with top-notch equipment can determine the right time.
Even if Jay Wiseman's thoughts on breath-play in his SM 101 (or here) are considered to be a little bit on the over-cautious side, I would bear it in mind (better to know what the devil's advocate has to say on life and death matters).
Breath-play, especially choking is quite an edgy sword to play with (carotid sinus!). (see here, contains links to critical notes on Wiseman's advise)
P.S.: Even if BDSM is somewhat a subject not openly dealt with in mainstream porn, there are nonetheless quite BDSMy things going on in mainstream porn. Sometime I am interested how many of the professionals (starting with performers) have the slightest clue, having read one of the introductory manuals, e.g., about such matters. OTOH, I don't want to be disillusioned about the actual professionalism and responsibility of professionals in the adult industry.
I think what i like about the choking is the way it looks, when the performers are caught up in the intensity, rather than that the girl is suffering. After all porn is imagery- the way things look. I don't get off on suffering. Choking out is going too far and really iresposible. There are experts with decades of experience in s&m, breath play along with the relevant medical knowledge, but i don't think Tony T or Mark Davis are these people. What are they gonna do if a girl drops down dead? Save the scene for bts perhaps?
Edited to add after more thought that i do like the feeling of choking/being choked.
After checking out that second link i'm think any sort of choking is a rather dumb thing to fool around with. When you have an extremly complex mechanism of electronics, chemistry and physicalities (the body) you should'nt mess about with it on a porn set- i've never known a porn set to have a cardiac monitor. s&m experience counts for shit- read the essays. It still looks hot though
edit: the spell of multiple tabs: I wrote the answer, before I saw your second reply, sorry.
Bringing someone into a state of unconsciousness (and back) is a task usually left to a specialist physician, with lots of gizmos at hand, called anaesthetist.
How do you, your SO or $porn-performer know, when somebody is on the verge of getting unconscious?
By your (not mine) definition breath-play is irresponsible.
But live with it, there is no such thing as a tiny-little choking, a minor way, safe way, romantic way, whatever way of choking. You are always out for the real deal (risking unconciousness), even if there is no sign of suffering and you monitor the "victim" closely.
In private life: Play it, act it out, but if you go for the real deal, i.e. risk unconsciousness (this is without doubt, even with the boldest pro-breath play advocates), be prepared for testing your reanimation skills and deal with the consequences. Your meeting with your attorney of state will most likely be the least of your concerns, if you fail. It is as simple as that.
In the porn-biz: Any anaesthesists around at porn-sets? Nuff' said.
I like S&M but choking doesn't interest me. I don't mind if a guy puts his hand around the girl's neck, but when she starts gasping and her face turns pale white, I have to draw the line. Sex should be enjoyed by both the male and female.
I think some porn producers go for shock value with extreme acts. I just don't need to be shocked when I watch porn. I just want something to give me a hardon.
I think choking is hot, but reading some of those cautionary notes linked here makes me feel very disturbed. I don't need to watch anyone die, even if they "enjoy" it. Just someone having their hand there without choking has the same visual effect, in erotic terms. I wonder if studies have been done on wrestlers? They got choked out all the time (sleeper holds).
Obstruktive Asphyxie in Kampfsportarten. J. Missliwetz, W. Denk. In: Ersticken: Fortschritte in der Beweisführung / B. Brinkmann, K. Püschel (Hrsg.). Festschrift für Werner Janssen. Berlin; Heidelberg; New York 1990, 35-41.
"A literature search in the field of sports medicine […] did not yield one single case of a fatality occurring during the practice of a martial discipline which could be identified as a result of the vagus reflex or the stimulation of the carotid-sinus. Such occurrences are thus at least extremely rare. We are of the opinion that the risk of sudden death of natural cause during the practice of such a sport as judo is much greater than the risk of death resulting from obstructive asphyxiation. […]"
Forensic Pathology. Dominick J. Di Maio, Vincent J. M. Di Maio, New York 1989 Rarely, one will encounter a death alleged to have occurred due to application of either a choke (bar arm control) or a carotid sleeper hold. These terms are often used interchangeably, but, in fact, refer to two different types of hold whose purpose is to produce transient cerebral ischemia and unconsciousness.[...] Choke holds can also cause death by another mechanism. In a choke hold, incapacitation is produced by lack of oxygen to the brain. This hypoxia is generalized, however, due to compression of the airway. [...] In theory, the carotid sleeper hold will cause rapid unconsciousness without injury to the individual. Unfortunately, in violently struggling individuals, a carotid sleeper hold can easily and unintentionally be converted into a choke hold as the individual twists and turns to break the hold.
A properly applied carotid sleeper can also cause death. One would not expect any trauma to the structures of the neck, however.[...]
Since the Austrian police has caused several asphyxia-related deaths during the last years, I am aware that in the US police departments these holds are "banned" or considered as lethal force.
The lack of death reports in martial arts training (as in erotic context, or in a (staged) sport like wrestling) may be due to the fact that there are other hormonal levels compared to a "combat situation" with high levels of stress hormones, which affect the CV-system.
The risk of unconsciousness is nonetheless there, and wether or not reanimation succeeds, is yet another question Mr. Murphy is addressed with.
