Companies wouldn't hire you and directors wouldn't shoot you. End of story. I used to get a lot of directors and fans that loved that I didn't have tattoos. I think it was around '96 or '97 I was helping a girl named Mandy Frost get into the biz, she had a couple tattoos; nothing obnoxious but it was enough to keep her out of some movies even though she had a great body, great natural titties, porcelain skin, natural red hair and a very pretty face. The key word here is movies. That was back in the feature days, one day wonders, storylines in nearly everything that was shot. I think that then tattoos took away some the flexibility to play certain roles. This is why - for the most part - I think big companies that shoot features stay away from (heavily) tattooed girls. Nowadays with the gonzo and internet market so strong, girls are performing in "scenes" rather than "movies". That's one of my theories. Another is that for many generations before me - this would be the generations that include people my parent's and my grandparent's age - tattoos were thought of as taboo. Bad people had tattoos, vagabonds, bikers... It just wasn't done, not by good people, normal people. Isn't it possible that many of the people posting here in this thread are of those generations? Or were raised by families of those generations that passed on their values and opinions to their children? Overall I think people of these generations seem to hold this dislike of tattoos as a common value standard and a measure of beauty. Times change don't they? I am not saying you have to agree with the changes but there is certainly no need for one person to speak (and harshly so, I might add) for the masses. That is like one man saying men don't like redheads or brunettes. Who made you god? If I were you other guys I would be pissed this ass is taking it upon himself to speak for you. "Damaged goods" - Oh, Christ on Toast. How can anyone look at Jandi Lin and call that damaged goods? She is beautiful, in body and spirit and that ink on her back is a freakin' work of ART. I even like her chest tat and I am not a fan of chest tattoos. She is exotic and erotic. In my opinion. That being said, I like girls with tattoos. Overall it gets me going. But that's me. And I know there are many more like me out there. Sure, I see girls with great artwork and girls who (I think personally)have made bad choices but who am I to tell them they fucked up because they have a tattoo that doesn't tickle my fancy? And doesn't it stand to reason that if there are this many girls out there with ink aren't there a hell of a lot of people from the same generation that appreciate it? Or any man for that matter? The answer is probably yes, I am sure he does. We couldn't possibly be making porn for ANY other reason, now could we? And for years this kept me from getting ink even though I had always wanted some. As tattoos became more acceptable in the adult industry I began to take advantage of that freedom and finally get ink...because I wanted to. In my opinion I was doing something I had always wanted to do and if the fans didn't like it then they can watch my movies from before I had the tattoos. Just like for those fans who liked me better as a blonde there are plenty of movies of mine for them too. (Bottom line: I got my ink because I wanted to! Don't fans understand that?) :) My most recent tattoo was a topic of concern with a good director friend of mine; he voiced his concern that I might lose work because of it. Truth be told, I haven't lost any work at all, in fact taking out my hair extensions has been more topic for discussion than my new ink. In fact I get tons of emails daily on myspace and my website from people saying they love it, and a rare few indeed saying they don't. People who know me personally, peripherally, or even just by my on-screen performances know that adding some color to my skin did not affect who I am or my performance on camera. My ink was my choice and is a personal statement. With my newest ink I knew what I wanted, planned it out, found the right artist and I fucking love it. It has special meaning to me and it's unique. I did it because I wanted to (just like my piercings and my boobs) and it's my body so therefore no one has any right to tell me I can't do it. You do have the right to have an opinion about it and you have the right to not like my ink and not agree with my choice. (I also have the right to tell you what I think about your opinions.) You have the right to not watch my movies, and that's the beauty of porn, there is something out there for everyone. Guys who don't like fake boobs find girls with natural titties they like and watch them, guys who like redheads search out their movies and watch them...So I suggest you (HJ) find yourself a couple non-tattooed favorites and stop whining. To sum it all up it is a matter of personal opinion and tastes. Okay, now that that is outta my system you can all proceed in ripping me a new asshole for my new tattoo on my arm... I do agree with you about certain negative stigma being attached to tattooing in the past, but strangely, in spite of that, I can at least understand why certain people (i.e. gang members, bikers, military, and whatnot) got them. It usually indicated being part of certain group or representing certain life style. And then suddenly tattoos became mainstream, at least I have that impression. Change for the better? I don't know. You see these 16-18 year olds getting the name of their boyfriend tattooed on their arms, or guns and brass knuckles, or stars, hearts, pixies, pentagrams and other meaningless crap on random parts of their beautiful bodies. Why? Do they actually believe it makes them look more beautiful? Or perhaps cool and "badass"? Are they making some kind of political or social statement? Isn't there just a slight possibility that a lot people are being misguided and influenced by the ongoing trend because tattooing has now become a full-grown industry with magazines, international expos and conventions, TV shows and whatever else; and as any industry, it wants to sell its product? So, I guess for me this is not something as basic as "turn on" or "turn off" and certainly not limited to porn stars getting ink. I believe I said it in the other thread, but if a chick takes it up the ass and especially when she enjoys it, I'm more than willing to overlook her visual "flaws".. whatever they might be (generous of me, huh?). But on a more general level, I do want to understand the appeal of having a tattoo. I believe that personal tastes can change with time. If, for example, you get a certain hair style today, you know it's not forever, even if it's something radical like mohawk or whatever. Can you tell me with 100% certainty that you'll have the same, positive feelings for your tattoo in 10-20 years from now? I don't think anybody can, really. I have a girl (tech crew) that works in my studio that has extensive tattoo work done. I could NOT imagine her without them - would just not be right.
