You're flunking adt etiquette.
Cody's always been a good guy although he codybanged my girl, Kelsey. He may not be the PR for DP but he knows what's going on in the company considering he works there. He may not be able to tell us everything but I've never known him as a liar.

What part of being expected to fulfill the terms of a signed contract is so difficult to understand? If someone doesn't want to be committed to work for a company for a given length of time, then they shouldn't sign a contract in the first place.
Someone changing their mind, after signing a contract, doesn't make the commitment that they made, suddenly disappear. I'm sick of athletes trying to renegotiate contracts. I'm just as sick of porn stars signing contracts that they regret and then blaming the company that they signed with for the fact that they can't work for someone else.

OMG, Teagan is retiring! What are we going to do now that there is going to be 5-10 less releases coming out this year? How is the world going to function now that there is nobody left to do porn!
I agree with you 100% Bill, if you don't want abide by the terms of the contract, don't sign it.

Here's an excerpt from this article posted on the AVN website. That's why I don't understand this whole thing.
Presley said Lewis gave her a verbal agreement (documented on paper by Presley's lawyer) allowing her to begin booking herself immediately with other companies and producers, and that she and Durden are getting the gears turning to put out product of their own under the banner Teagan Presley Enterprises.
"I'll always be a Digital girl," Presley said. "We split on good terms, they said they probably still want me in Pirates II, and I think I have like five scenes in the can for them, so they're going to have a whole bunch of my movies coming out right now. But I just don't want to be under exclusive contract. There's a lot of stuff I want to do. I can't wait. I'm going to shock the pants off of people."
For Digital Playground's side, publicist Adella O'Neal echoed Presley's thoughts, saying, "She basically wanted to do her own thing, that was the vibe that I got. And so we said, 'OK.' We wish her well, we love her, we hope that she'll work with us on other projects in the future, even if it's a freelance basis. We hope to still work with her, and still shoot her, and still have her in big productions if she wants to be a part of them.
"She just basically expressed that she wanted to take her life in a different direction, and take control of things," O'Neal continued, "and instead of saying, 'No, you can't do that, you're under contract with us for so long,' we just said, 'OK, hon, you got it. We love you. No worries.' It was pretty simple."

this is not about smearing DP's name or boycotting them. It's about Teagan wanting to be free She has wanted to direct & approached DP about it trying to be a team player. That was the understanding, somewhere along the line things changed, & that's fine. But DP is still going full steam ahead & she should be able to as well. she just want the chance to do her own thing & if it ends up competing with them then we will see who wins by the fans response.

Re-negotiation of contracts is standard business practice. Demand changes, supply changes; value of the product can change. Companies as well as "contractors" initiate re-negotiation of contracts all the time in business. If both sides enter the negotiations prepared to compromise so that afterwards everyone can move on with life & business, things usually work out.
When negotiations hit an snag and go public, it's ugly--and bad for everyone involved. The noise on this thread, and elsewhere, is bad for all involved. They need to settle their differences.

to my knowledge whatever teagan is going through doesn't have to do with digital playground at all. i saw her at aee and she hugged me - i haven't gotten wind of anything negative... i was kinda laughing at some of the boycott dp posts because i send FREE dp movies to most of the regular ADT people so in the end a boycott would save us shipping dollars... anyhow, if you are getting screeners from me and you don't want to anymore, let me know. and teagan, i hope everything works out, i'm sure it will soon. your fans will be there for you no matter what!

Maybe fanboys should keep their noses out of private legal matters? Especially, since no details have been revealed. It's all rather silly. Best of luck to all involved.

+1! May I also add that companies' direction and way of thinking/work changes as well. A performer/athlete has every right to renegotiate or find a way out if he/she feels they won't feel comfortable or at home in their future endeavors anymore. Just because they signed a contract, doesn't mean they have to just "live with it" until it expires.
The problem lies with companies holding onto the last straw, trying to suck out as much money as possible, and not caring about what their talent wants.

Some people may know a little more then others, but they'd be fools to speak about it because of legal matters. Adella, are you really serious? Honestly, you can't be serious saying there is nothing wrong between Teagan and Digital Playground. You are PR of DP, you'd be the last person to admit any of DP's wrong-doings. This isn't exactly the first time DP has done this either...

I'm all for honoring your commitment too but again we can't know all that was written into her contract with Digital-- if they aren't doing what was specified or intimated at in it then I think Teagan's got a right to want out but if that's not the case then yeah it's time to negotiate and I just hope it ends soon for both sides.

Every girl wants to become a Contract Star. Teagan signed a contract with DP
and fulfilled the contract including time off for maternity leave.
Teagan than signed a second contract with DP and then a few months later has decided to not fulfill the contract?
Poor planning on somebody's part.
If you sign a contract, fulfill the contract!

What if I did, by then I'd be 26 (almost to the end of most girls' careers) and not have as much to show for it at the end of my career as I could have (money, website, ownership, etc) Does that make sense to you when I do have a family. That's not very smart business now is it. Well, not in my opinion.

provided details and direction of the company stays the same, as prior to signing. If the direction and focus changes, into a totally different direction then it only hurts the name and career of the talent in question. Every smart athlete and performer around the WORLD either re-negotiates or looks for a way out in such situations. Look at Baseball, Football, Hockey, movie industry, Pro Boxing, Pro Wrestling so on and so on....

I just don't think it's that black & white an issue here. There's a contract yeah but only a few select people probably and should know what's specified in that contract and if the terms aren't being met then it's time to take issue and how that issue is resolved is where I think this situation is at now. If Teagan was promised ownership of product, more of a say in what projects she'd do, who she'd work with, etc. and then after signing this new deal those agreed upon terms aren't being met you'd have her still honor said contract, that hardly seems fair to her but again we don't and shouldn't know the specifics of this matter, it's not us under contract so all I can do is wish Teagan the best and hope this is concluded soon. I like Digital Playground movies and have enjoyed reviewing them this past year & a half, now I look forward to hopefully reviewing new Teagan movies when those are available.

Don't worry Teags, some people care more about their free screeners, then the wishes and happiness of talent performing in them. Only if they gave it a little more thought, and the same pattern of these big companies going after girls who look for a way out, and making it almost impossible for them to work on their own.
There's only a few of them though, and most of us CAN think without any prejudice and influence of such luxuries. Thank you lord I can afford to buy movies, and not depend on "Free Porn" to watch the latest flicks.

When they re-negotiate, they do so by re-signing for a longer length of time. When they want out, their agent attempts to broker a trade with another team, so that all sides end up with something that they want.
Show me a single case where an athlete has broken their contract and has not been required to sit out the length of the contract before they could sign with another team. It hasn't happened. The only way something like this would occur is if the new team provided some agreed upon level of compensation to the team that is holding the contract.
Lastly, unless someone is smart enough to negotiate an exit clause in their contract before signing it, unless the other side is willing to renegotiate, then "just live(ing) with it until it expires" is exactly what signing a contract means.

No Bono, he was tilting that post towards me. All I have to say, is that people who write reviews get screener copies. If anyone wants to know how many free DVD's I've received from Digital Playgroung, go count how many reviews I've written at ADT. They're both the same number. Zero.
I think that my history here would show me being far more critical toward companies than I am to performers.
Edited to add: That's not to say if they wanted to send me some of their product, on HD DVD or Blu-ray, I wouldn't accept it.

It was a joke genius. That's what the big smile means.
If I wanted free DVD's I could have as many as I want. I would just start writing reviews. The fact that I've been her for 6 years without writing a single review, would lead an observant person to believe that I don't give a rats ass about getting free DVD's.

So, is the dispute purely over whether Teagan has the right to perform/produce as a free agent until such time as her contract expires?

We don't know that. That's just the direction that speculation has led this thread. Teagan has decided not to specifically say what the issue is (which is probably a good idea). The problem is, that starting a thread such as this, but not revealing everything, just leads to rampant speculation.

I don't know ANY of the details of what's going on with Teagan and/or DP right now, but you could benefit from wording your posts a little better.
You just said that big companies are going after girls who are looking for a way out. Are you implying that it's OK for a girl to sign a contract (a re-newal contract at that), and then a few months later decide that it would make better business sense to do something different?
Very often in contracts, the bigger company has the upper hand, because they have the smarter/better lawyer who can tilt the contract in the company's favor. And the 'lesser' person usually needs the bigger company more, so they're willing to sign a skewed contract.
I am NOT saying that's what happened in this case.
And I have to agree with Bill that when athletes renegotiate, there is usually something that they are willing to bring to the company or trade. They aren't allowed to simply say, "I don't feel like playing with your club anymore."

Bill, have you noticed you weren't the only "old-timer" of ADT who seemed to have either put the blame on Teagan or defending DP's position, and I am well aware of you not writing reviews so you assuming my post was directed toward you alone was not correct.
You asked me to provide names of any athletes, well I would gladly find some for you but I don't think that's even needed. All I have to do is ask you to read the press release DP themselves put out through Adella, where they told Teagan they were fine with her creating her own products and owning them. Somehow, somewhere they changed their minds and seemed to have thought they deserve to have a piece of the pie.
Tricia, I agree with the point you made about porn stars shouldn't be allowed to break contracts so easily. However, it all comes down to Circumstance, and that changes things specially when the company itself changes it's look and goes after a different way of making porn which may have a very negative impact on the career and popularity of a certain star. Some girls just wanna have a little more control over what they put out after a while, and not have a company tell them what they can and CAN'T do in everything.
Teagan wasn't a "new" girl at Digital Playground, she had already completed a previous contract, which DP profited a lot from. It was the circumstances.

Arin and Tyler-
You might want to follow Teagan's lead of not divulging any of the problems, as Teagan's lawyers are suggesting.
I'd be curious to know if there's a non-disclosure statement in any of the contracts that have been questioned.

I already get that Tricia, and I don't think we've brought up any of the details or complications of the contract. We're just expressing our opinions on the whole situation from what we know so far, and obviously certain people won't like that.
This is one of the biggest reasons why I've always been against contracts with companies, they like to have control over even how often you breathe.

Arin-
opinions are opinions. I was only giving you a friendly heads up.
There's a slight difference between talking about ideas on contracts and companies in general, and implying that you're talking about a specific situation.
For what it's worth, I get along great with Adella and especially with Samantha Lewis, I've never met or spoken with Cody, and I think Teagan is a beautiful, sweet girl.
Good luck, everyone.

Seems pretty obvious Arin's comment was directed at me, and that's fine. I think those who read my reviews know that I'm not one to tow the party line and that if I see something wrong I'll speak my mind. I've been taken off a few screener lists because of it, and I'm sure I'll be taken off a few in the future as well. So your comments on my pointing the blame at Teagan and backing up DP for free screeners is way off base.
That said, I haven't said much more here because Bill has said most everything way better than I would. Both sides have done some very good work, and I think the work Teagan's done for DP has been some of her best. Beyond that, everything's speculation, so choosing a side without knowing what the fight's about doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do. If it is a contract situation, there may even be plenty of blame for both sides. If DP tried putting something shady into her renewal contract, then that's shitty of them. At the same time, with how Digital Playground has held their previous girls to their contract terms while Teagan was there it would be awfully stupid of her to sign it without having a darn good lawyer look at it first to let her know what all was in it. Just because DP is a corporation doesn't make them evil, and just because Teagan is a porn chick doesn't make her stupid. At this point it's all speculation.

When a pornstar as popular as Teagan says she's "forced" to retire, "fanboys" will definitely have something to say about it. Nobody can stop that from happening.
From reading this thread over the past day, it's pretty clear "no one" knows what's really going on--but fans are clearly not happy that Teagan may no longer be able to "perform" [and we don't know what "perform" means]. So we want to know "why."
While there will always be a need for some "privacy" in legal matters, the cloak of secrecy that is so prevalent in porn (who makes how much, has someone retired, etc.) only fuels the speculation.
Like I said before: whoever is involved needs to resolve this situation...fast! It's bad for business.

"Dear Lord. So much anger. So much hatred. So much violence."

In a few years time, retail-packaged DVD distribution as we know it for this segment of the entertainment industry will be no longer. Teagan and Tyler will be running their own network of adult content creation and delivery portals, Samantha and Joone will be referred to fondly as this generation's Roger and Julie Corman, our children and grandchildren will be running/moderating ADT, and we'll all think back on the vitriol contained in this thread, trying to remember exactly what it was we were all fighting about.
Vigorous disagreement and dispute between talent and studio is not exclusive to adult, it's a major part of "Old Hollywood" folklore. Everyone has an impassioned point of view and no one wants to come out on the other side of the negotiation process having lost face or precious revenue. But at the end of the day, Digital Playground remains a wildly successful production company that will continue to prosper with the involvement of contract performers who will distinguish themselves well beyond the chapter marking their brief collaboration with Teagan. Similarly, based on the raw enthusiasm and sex-positive creative aptitude exhibited in their entrepreneurial work together since parting ways with DP, Teagan and Tyler are going to find a segment of adult entertainment to call their very own, and talent will line up to work with them based on a unique level of sensitivity toward the adult entertainment performer that may have (at least a portion of) its basis in their interpretation of this very situation.
Stating all of the above to say, "Don't hate the players. Hate the game." Because the game is changing as we speak mates, and the people involved in this matter are very savvy cats who are ALL going to land on their feet.
Zen
