I have become painfully aware of a duty which has not been assigned to anyone.
The person has indeed been picked, but I cannot name him here, because if I do, he will start blushing too much, and that will distract me from my other daily duties. And if he distracts me, that will cause me to have to punish him.
His duty shall start with the brushing of my hair, but shall extend to massaging my neck and scalp while pulling my hair for me.

You know me all too well. My friends in my personal life will tell you you just handed me my dream job and the perfect one for me. I knew you wouldn't let me down. Allow me to set the mood:

Jewel, Thank you. Everyone seems to be missing the point of this fucking thread because many people do not take the time to read it.
Eli was settting up the topic by describing how this summer has been tight for many in our industry - not whining that his product isn't selling. He doesn't even HAVE product, he shoots for other companies. And the things he stated are absolutely true, many companies are having a hard time of it - some are not, but some are.
And in these times where money is tight for many and some companies are having trouble paying and getting paid, it is absurd that a NEW GUY is asking for $1000 a scene. (Even worse I just heard he asks MORE for anal - not in HIS ass but to fuck a beautiful girl in the ass.) What happened to paying your dues? Geez, I don't even know what this Rico guy looks like let alone if he can FUCK. Why would I take the chance? If I have $1000 to spend on a guy I would rather spend it on Manuel or Steve who I KNOW will give me a great scene, be on time, etc. I believe that is what Eli was trying to say.
As far as those he mentioned, like Steve and Manuel, he may have been poking a little fun at you (the uber-german and the Charpei) but it's because he knows you and likes you. And has hired you. At your rate. (Granted often because I wanted to fuck you but hey, I am persuasive.) He also COMPLIMENTED you on your performances.
Everyone certainly got bristly over this thread. My, my.
Kylie, I tried bringing up the "paying one's dues" up in other threads, but apparently it holds no bearing in the porn industry. Of course, I guess that's what I get for having been a union employee who values seniority.
Yeah but who decides who is worthy? With over 10,000 films being shot every year, and what maybe a few hundred guys to shoot them, I could see why even the average relative newcomer would expect to get paid a little more. Its very possible for guys to shoot 10-50 scenes nowadays and be relatively unknown worldwide. So just because some director doesn't know them, hasn't even heard of them, and thereby doesn't respect their talent, doesn't mean they don't have any. Buyers tastes can be fickle or surprising from movie to movie, so just as some guys may not like a scene, there may be plenty of others who do. Sex scenes can be subjective. Ultimately a director gets to decide whether or not a scene sucks, but they aren't necessarily right just because they think it. There have been some male performers mentioned in this thread whose work/scenes I don't particularly care for, but there seems to be others out there that love everything they do. And if a performer has been in the industry for years and years, I'd like to think it's because they have some talent and may know what they are generally doing. Just because some director thinks otherwise, means nothing. True your only as good as your last scene, but there are really only so many dicks to go around. The guys supply the dicks, so I feel they can ask or even demand whatever they feel is worthy of it. If it were so easy, why aren't there more guys performing in the industry? You gotta respect the male talent, because there are very few guys (on the planet) who can do it day-in and day-out.
Keep in mind also that the guys really can't fake-it for the most part. He has to fuck the female whether he finds her attractive or not, and he also has to fuck her even if she really doesn't want him to. I've seen enough crap to know it happens. In those cases, I almost feel the guys should be paid double for hazardous duty. I know I couldn't fuck some chick that was just there for the paycheck and probably hated-my-guts, or cringed at the mere thought of fucking me. The male stud has no such luxury once he signs, he expected to fuck and come regardless of anything. The guys are far from props from what I've seen over the years.

Over 10,000 films? Really? That just seems like "I won a million dollars" to me. Most people can't comprehend what kind of volume such numbers are, IMHO. Expectations & reality are completely different.
That's like walking into a company and saying, "I expect to make at least $100,000/year working for you", they say NEXT, and you're left looking for employ elsewhere. It's not about what talent you do or don't have, it's about showing it off, proving it, then letting the directors (via personal observation or even fan feedback, perhaps?) decide who is worth that secondary expense to their company (I say secondary because when one is paying $2500 for the female, $1000 seems meager for the stunt cock).
The performers are contractors, no? So if the director X captial to blow on a scene, and "some new guy" requests his rate, but Manuel is willing to do it for same or $100 more, who do you think they are going to choose?
The proof is in the pudding, not the hype that some performer brings to the table in negotiations over his fee. Pay your dues, prove your worth, then bicker over your worth afterwards. Again, just my opinion...

If Rico is the guy who triggered the rant by Eli, then I can sort of see both sides to this. He is relatively new, and you wouldn't think worthy of special status yet. On the other hand, he's packing a foot long and has been getting a lot of work. I think maybe success has gone to his young head a little, but I think he may have enough directors giving him his rate to justify his arrogance. At least in his mind. I wonder if this would be an issue if it was Scott Nails, who all the girls seem to want to work with, and has comparable experience. In the end, the performers are going to take what they can get. The market will dictate how much that is going to be, so if they price themselves out of work, they'll have to adjust. Just capitalism at its most basic.
I think you may have proven my point Picman. I've never heard of Rico either, but apparently he's been in almost 20 films already. I suspect he's probably getting paid more sometimes than people think. After a certain amount of films, I don't necessarily think one has to "prove" anything to anyone. How many more films does he have to do before he's paid what he thinks he's worth? I really want to know?

Only you've spoken of AAA league work, and male stars not having fans. But just because a newbie enters the "Major Leagues" doesn't mean he's entitled to make the same (or better) as a seasoned veteran. A Joe Schmoe isn't going to make as much as a Barry Bonds (regardless how much I can't stand him), so new porn guys shouldn't expect to make rate until they've proven their worth...period.
I'd imagine one doesn't make the big bucks as a new lawyer either. That goes for any job, as far as I'm concerned ~ it's not all for shits & giggles, and no one should expect to walk into a position and just gain top wage. For those who think they should be entitled to top wage, tell them to walk...go work for UPS, where their position may not be as luxurious as fucking pretty chicks on camera (whatever the consequences of that job may be).
it surely cant be rico strong...that dude is worth the grand. he is young....in great shape....is fucking huge, and fucks the dogshit out of the girls. he is the man. i got to watch him on a couple sets when i PAed for Mike Metropolis and West Coast Productions. he is the man!
on a side note, not sure, but i heard he had gullwing doors installed in his expedition. how fucking hilarious is that?

too funny. I saw that on a Ford Mustang at a gas station the other day.
Anyway, I agree with the comment made about how a rookie Major League player doesn't make the same as MVP. I also wanted to point out that 20 - 50 scenes is hardly anything in the world of the male porn performer. That's between 1 - 3 months of work. And if those scenes are for a smaller company, those companies simply can't afford to pay the same rates as the larger companies. However, I also believe that if a performer can get paid what they want, all the power to them. I just wish that the performers wouldn't lower their rates for some companies, but not all. I simply won't pay the same thing for a lesser established performer as I would for Manuel or Erik.
Finally, this thread was SO much more fun when it became about me getting my boobies massaged. :)
It's altogether common for people to work for different rates on different projects. One of my DPs gets $3K/day when he works for ESPN and flies first class. When he works for me he gets $600/day and flies coach.
You ought to have a look at SAG contracts. The rates are available online and it's a good example of how rates are scaled to budgets.
Well I wouldn't pay a new guy that much money no matter what when he's won some awards and has done over 100 solid movies then he's a pro until then he's wet behind the ears and doesn't deserve the rate of the guys who have been busting their asses for years. I'd much rather hire a new humble guy willing to work his way up then some stupid idiot who's been in porn for five minutes wanting superstar rates. And to be honest it's us directors who set the rates we want to pay if I don't want to pay it I don't and I hire the talent I think is worth what they are charging. New guys I love are Tyler Knight,Christian X and John E.Depth they are all humble and nice and willing to prove themselves.
Jewel, are your parents still in business with you? Also, I think you are very talented behind the camera and you have a great website.

That's the prerogative of the director, just as it's the prerogative of the performer to set his rate at whatever he feels he deserves. As has been said before, somebody must be paying it if the performer is charging it. As for the example of Ricco Strong, I have seen some of his scenes, and I agree that this guy is worth whatever rate he feels he deserves. From what I have seen of his performances, I can't see how anyone can reasonably say that this guy is deserving of a lesser rate just because he's new. New or not, if a guy is an outstanding performer, then that ought to be all that matters. Not only this, but alot of people keep going on about these "well established" guys who have "paid their dues" and "worked their way up." That's all nonsense. Unless I'm missing something here, they all have dicks and they're all doing the same damn job, which is fucking girls. So, if there's a guy who gives great performances and demands to be suitably compensated for those performances, then more power to him. If the guy is good, then he deserves an appropriate rate, and it doesn't matter if he's been in the business for five minutes or five years. He's not doing anything less than what these other "veteran" guys are doing.
Try working for non-sex movies now. There cutting way back now. They cut back form 3oo to 4o dollars a day and getting people to work for them for free. One time buy outs for actors as well. If your one of the few 2o lucky ones out of a million then you make good dough other wise you don't make shit as an actor. If these porn guys can get this kind a money from some of the companies then I say let them have it. It seems like to me that the companies that can pay the money seems like its nothing to them and they can afford to pay what ever, so let them. I still look for the director first and girls next then maybe guys. But if I want to see the girl then usually I can find her with one of my favorite Directors and know I have a good scene no matter what male he hires, and I really don't care what he/her pays them as long as I get my porn cheap!
Nonetheless, we are still discussing him, how many years after his death? The one I miss is his ex-girlfriend, did they ever officially report her cause of death? His was suicide, from what I recall.
She had one hell of a nice butt. Her body was basically perfect, as I recall. It's really a shame. Edited by - randomprecision on 2/11/2011 10:24:19 PM
Haley Paige had a beautiful body and unfortunately she apparently had serious issues. Wanker Wang must have had serious issues too, if indeed he committed suicide. The whole affair remains enigmatic and mysterious regarding their respective causes of death.
