Haha, thanks! Way ahead of you. They're one of the main reasons I am in this predicament (strong preference for G/G content with long close-ups, while having almost none of it being produced nowadays).

Yeah, I would say my overall experience was kinda meh. They do have some solid content, but they are pricey.

I would say, give one month a shot and cancel afterward.

Is it just me, or are you guys seeing recycled content EVERYWHERE? Aside from a few main studios (GW, SHV, GFF, etc...), no one seems to be producing any content. I know we have had our gripes about the quality, but now the quantity also seems to be in question.

From the **** sites to PPV, with the exception of the main studios, it's all ancient stuff released that's being rehashed over and over again.

^I think it may be just you. All the sites that I frequently check out, whether I like them or not, constantly produce new stuff. For a while I thought Addicted 2 Girls (Zero Tolerance) is not putting out new scenes anymore, but recently even they are releasing new scenes ("Make My Kitten Squirt 2", with "Yoga Girls 5" coming up).

^^It probably doesn't help that a lot of girls are sticking to Onlyfans over studio productions, plus agents booking women almost exclusively for B/G.

Yep, I've suspected that. I also think that the problem is exacerbated by the fact that a lot of larger studios moved away from G/G, either as a focus or content-wise. Penthouse, Bangbros, 21Sextury, Hustler, Lethal Hardcore, Spizoo, etc... all used to produce a decent amount of G/G on a semi-regular basis.

^Most of these examples you cited have been either long dead (e.g. Penthouse) or have never put out many g/g videos at all. In fact, Hustler, to my surprise, is not dead. They are still putting out one g/g scene a month (you can see this by going here and picking the "lesbian" tag). The only one that I can agree with is 21 Sextury. Their Lezcuties sub-label has not come up with a new video for a long time.

But consider all those with regular updates: Adult Time, Girlfriends Films, All Her Luv, Slayed, Sweetheart Video/Mile High, Sex Art, Viv Thomas, Strap Lez, UltraWow, Sensual Love, Lesbian Experience/New Sensations, Elegant Angel, Lesbian X, She Seduced Me, Girls Only Porn/Nubile Films, Addicted 2 Girls, Dyked, Brazzers, Reality Kings, Sexy Hub, Twistys. Sure, some of them update slowly (1 scene a month), but none of them are dead. And these are just the more-or-less "mainstream" ones I'm aware of or have an interest in.

p.s.: just found out another site. A Girl Knows/Letsdoeit used to focus on European women and was doing about one scene a month; it looks like in the last few month they are filming American women and are releasing two scenes a month.

As a fan of G/G for 20+ years, I agree to disagree:

1. The number of studios producing some G/G content was much larger than what you are listing as recently as a few years ago.
2. Many of the studios I cited had catalogs as large or larger than some of the ones you listed (Dyked, Girls Only, Step Lez).
2. A release a month hardly counts as semi-regular content.

I think the "demise" of Slayed, along with the severe slowdown of other productions has proven that despite its popularity, producing G/G content is not a viable option for most studios. I was seriously hoping that Slayed would turn the tide and spark more interest in the genre (similar to what they did with Blacked), but alas, my optimism was misplaced.

I think one of the biggest problems has been touched on before, which is that G/G is competing for views in a fan base that wants very different things - some want more story, some want explicit shots/visuals (me), some want supreme chemistry (Lezzyist?), some want exceptional sensuality, some want more queer stuff, others want strap ons, and so on...

By trying to please everyone, most studios please none. So at this point, what's a studio to do?

There are a couple of solutions, but I think the easiest one would be something closer to a LegalPorno model, where high-quality studios (not amateurs) can let the market decide. I for one would pay $20-30/scene for something that was well produced, shot gonzo-style, in 4K, and really hit the spot with the visuals (think In The Crack + Kiss Me Girl Explicit). I've spent a small fortune on high-quality customs (see recent lesbian/pussy worshipping vids on newMFX, much of which I was NOT happy with), so that would be a welcome alternative given that my only other option is Onlyfans.

I think with the launch of Sheer.com (Legalporno's Custom vid platform), there is a chance that something cool can gain traction.

That isn't to say there aren't any bright spots, as the Excogi Girls site seems promising.

Anyway, given the recent spate of bad news in G/G, I was hoping to kick off a brief discussion so that producers might see if there is a way to properly monetize G/G content that honors people's preferences.

Cheers!

This looks like a great place to share some of my pet peeves regarding my favorite hobby lesbian porn!

There are two great periods in my lifetime for lesbian video and that was 2002 to 2006 roughly, and 2013 to 2016 give or take, I was hoping to see another renaissance so to speak given the 10 year span is upon us, we're due for another burst of creativity, but unlike the previous two waves I believe the next will be more scattered, they'll be good scenes but you have to look for them, and I'm talking super excellent epic masterpieces, not your run of the mill stuff.

(I should point out, I don't mean to suggest everything else was bad but more having to do with a transitional period like moving away from toys, or getting rid of music dubbed over the scene that sort of thing)

The best all girl website there ever was, drum roll please...webyoung from it's inception about 2013 to about 2016, when they had both European and American content, the European content was some of the best I've ever seen and I'm still trying to figure out who the creators were, but girlsway decided to end the Euro partnership, sadly I discovered too late a post by Bree Mills I believe in the comments she asked did we still want the Euro content, and no one answered, by the time I discovered the post it was years after the fact, but I still answered yes of course!

One of the reasons I learned why they canned the Euro content was there wasn't enough dialogue, I don't know if that's 100% correct but most of the Euro scenes never a word was spoken and I'm assuming because they either did not speak English or was heavily accented, which leads to one of the most profound disappointments I have with the porn industry, why the Hell didn't you just let them speak their native tongue! I would love to hear the models speak Czech or French whatever! One of the biggest oversights by the porn industry the last 20 years is not having European or any nationality speak their native language in porn films, if I had a nickel for every lesbian scene from Europe with no dialogue! Just have them speak their native language (and no captions) you idiots! btw the girls are not the idiot's I want to make that perfectly clear.

(Again I should point out, of course models speak their own language in films primarily distributed in their own country's, I'm referring to video marketed to the US, in fact I can't imagine what little gems of great porn video might be out there hidden because it's not distributed in the US due to non English subtitles and so forth)

So that's my first pet peeve, no non English dialogue.

Just remembered the girlfriendsxxx site did use native tongue with captions, sometimes the captions were annoying, and sometimes funny, one of my favorite sites, stopped updating around 2017.

Yes, chemistry between the two women and their overall comfort on the set are the utmost of importance. To my mind, seeking pairings that can identify at least some level of mutual appreciation and making it easy for them to get in the mood for sex is the only way to get the most genuinely sexual action and best visuals from them. And also the best audio. I get super turned off when the action sounds fake. This kind of interest in watching women have sex presents problems for producers because they can't cast just anyone. The average porn girl won't be super-gratuitously sexual with a woman the way I like. I don't care about "pornstars" or "big names"; just want the ladies who can look average-to-hot while also being up for extreme physical closeness with other chicks, ala sites like Greg Lansky's We Live Together, InTheCrack or KissMeGirl Explicit.

No matter the niche/flavor, whether a site can last depends on:
1. Does the site producer understand what the fans of a particular flavor want?
2. Are there enough of those fans willing and able to pay a premium, probably at 3 or 4 times the average 1-year subscription rate?
3. If the answers to the first two questions are indeed yes, is there then an investor who BELIEVES the answers are yes and is ready to even get the site started in the first place?

There may not be a crowd-funded solution here. We may all be stuck individually identifying the performers who naturally do more or less what we like of their own accord and stick with them and any others we discover while watching them.

I would like to think there are lots of people who like GG similar to you and I, but perhaps there aren't.

Theory on what happened to slayed, two-fold:
-Most of the BG fans that got on the site initially got bored and went back to the stuff they usually watch...aka girls doing exaggerated goofy-looking sex like what's on SLAYED but with actual dicks
-The exodus back to content with real dicks was always going to happen, but SLAYED somewhat sped up the issue by moving too far away from over-sized dildos, peeing on each other, and screaming. As shitty as SLAYED is (in my opinion), it was honestly more stupid and cartoonish in the earlier releases, for the most part. But again, I think SLAYED was relying on guys who ultimately prefer real dick content and they were always going to get bored of GG stuff.

Let's not forget the elephant in the room, tube sites, I think I first discovered one back in 08, now there's hundreds! Basically every porn video ever made can be accessed by the push of a button without paying, how much of that has to do with the seemingly decline in quality content? I've noticed many studios work with tube sites now as a promotional tool providing clips of exclusive video, they said, we can't beat them let's join them!

^before tube sites, there were bootleg videos.
This has existed since the beginning of time and it is unlikely to end.
Either way, money are being made.

Mainstream g/g is dead. The people that actually pay for porn, don't pay for g/g. The solution is simple, ban incels from paying for porn and make the industry entirely reliant on ad revenue.

I still think the main issue is the lack of companies & Directors who actually care about the genre, and a lack of or under utilization of performers who are genuinely into women.

Outside of the fact that that the majority of directors who created quality G/G content are retired, whenever a promising director comes into the G/G, it isn't too long before they are poached and/or move onto B/G content.

I also think there a number of women who could make great G/G who are being monopolized and churned out by B/G, leading to us seeing a lot of the same performers continuously showing up on the same sites.

Where did sites like SLAYED and GirlGirl go wrong? I didn't like them, and more than that found them annoying, but they seemed to be what most people want.

Sites like Girlsway and AllHerLuv mostly feel the same to me as GirlGirl.

What do the sites that are still chugging along have in common?

When I see the "what are your top performers, top scenes etc?" questions brought up, it's pretty unanimous that Malena Morgan/WLT scenes rank among the top. I'd imagine if there were a studio who found another performer of her beauty and sexual prowess for other women, and replicated the simplicity and feel of those scenes, they'd be pretty damn successful.

Studios need to find the modern Shyla Jennings, Malena Morgans, Elexis Monroes, Georgia Jones, Jenna Sativa, Dani Daniels, Charlotte Stokelys, Aidra Foxes etc and just use what that successful We Live Together era did as inspiration and they'll have my money. I'm sure many other's here would agree.

So many excellent points made since my last post, all of which would go a very long way towards "reviving" G/G if producers were to take heed.

I could easily spend several hours responding to each and every post, but I think you all covered the main issues.

Like Aya, I think the biggest issue is a lack of interest. There are no real advocates for the genre who look beyond the $$$ and aim to elevate it beyond its current doldrums because even with everything stacked against it, superb content that excites people will lead to profits, provided the business model is properly thought out and most variables are accounted for.

Although controversial, I think a few additional measures would go a long way toward profitability.

1. No downloads - I know it's sacrilegious to say, but there can be no effective DMCA protection if you don't restrict it to streaming.
2. Innovative Pricing Models - Gotta get creative here, as there is no simple solution (I can think of a few that could work. Perhaps "Blackdragontea can give us some supporting data, haha).
3. Fan Interaction - Steve's engagement at EXCOGI Girls is a perfect example of how much progress can be made with user feedback.

Bonus - Shooting scenes with more elaborate camera setups. That way, a talented editing team can piece together 2-3 different versions for people with different preferences (closeups vs. full body, story vs. "action", etc...).

Provided a team that did most/all things well and was dedicated, I could easily imagine myself and others paying $60+ for 8 updates a month (2x/weekly), as it would surely beat Onlyfans and custom videos by a mile.

Thoughts? - I'm deliberately trying to encourage G/G Industry talk here since most producers won't scroll to the middle of page 95 of "All Things Lesbian" to read what people say about the industry.

Cheers,

Doobie

I was thinking about this the other day, but I think one of the main problems with G/G is not the fact that it is largely produced by and for men, but specifically, the very guys who tend to produce it. With all the abuse allegations flying around, is there any wonder that the stuff that is more "women-centric" is very lacking?

For every Greg Lansky, we have 10-20 other guys who truly haven't given a single thought to what makes a G/G scene work. There are guys like Steve from ExCoGi Girls, who are taking on the challenge and willing to learn, but those are few and far between.

There isn't a sizable group of guys that demand more from G/G, so, the market has taken/is taking time to develop.

I really think that someone blowing the current offerings out of the water with a premium price tag (think Sensual.Love visuals with KMG Explicit Action for $50+, or even a higher quality GirlGirl.com).

But it's going to require money, dedication, and interest, none of which there seems to be a lot of. As the recent post on the "All Things Lesbian" thread demonstrates, I also think that the right content would appeal to a lot of women as well, provided it gets the "vibe" right.

Anyway, those are my $.02.

Thoughts on Current G/G and Lesbian Sites

my thought?

awful.

they are all disappearing and the remaining few are doing everything wrong:
>guys in the scene especially the middle
>toys (toys and more toys)
>fake moaning

twistys was great, but it has turned into hotandmean....and adulttime has its new hotandmean lezbebad.

Yep, exactly. Something is fundamentally wrong when homemade clips on "a certain platform" outperform "professional" productions. The people here that sincerely believe that things are fine (or somehow flourishing) must not have been present when things were going well (today vs. 2010-2018).

Some of it's the industry in general, but I feel like many factors made things worse for G/G in particular. I have really tried to have thoughtful, constructive conversations (albeit with a bit of my own grumbling over the current state of things) on here, but it's not particularly fruitful when people don't understand the fundamentals of economics (i.e., "ideology" over economic realities).

But to sum up, I think we would have been in a different place if a few things had played out differently over the years (Greg Lansky launching Slayed instead of Laurent Sky, WLT becoming the big thing instead of Adulttime, the Demise of Lesbian Gonzo when it should be taking advantage of 4K/8K resolution, big studios like Hustler, Penthouse, Pornpros, and Naughty America taking G/G seriously, etc.).

I remember when I was incredibly excited to have a Network solely focused on G/G. With all due respect to Bree Mills, I think she took G/G in a direction that it hasn't recovered from since (overreliance on story, skits, changing the way the action was shot, etc.).

The early years of Web Young are underrated, in my opinion, and something that other studios didn't pursue much afterward. I have yet to see another network that solely focuses on young European G/G (Clubsweetheart is sorta getting there), let alone doing it well.

On top of Bree Mills and StillsByAlan helping performers realize they don't have to do much more than say dumb incest dialogue an pretend to squeal for 30 minutes straight while naked with another person in the same room, a lot of these performers are just not about that having-sex-with-women life. The shit looks super uncomfortable and awkward 98% of the time because the performers are uncomfortable. Prudish is a strong adjective, but compared to performers like Taylor Vixen, Malena Morgan, Georgia Jones, etc, the ladies today usually seem pretty not that pleased at the idea of having girl-girl sex.

100%-Besides changing the angles, the overemphasis on dialogue definitely didn't help. It wasn't as pronounced in previous years, but it became more prominent when a performer could rely on dialogue for long portions of a scene. At this point, I'm rooting for someone to bring back Gonzo lesbian, partially for the angles and partially because it would emphasize more physical performances more reminiscent of Marlena, Georgia, Celeste, etc.

(In an effort to be fair, I did spend more time watching old scenes to see if it was just nostalgia, but I kept getting struck by how much hotter and more intense the oral was. The girls REALLY went for it, shoving the tongue deep inside, and munching like crazy. If anything, I had totally forgotten that they were even better than I remember them, haha.)

Cheers!
