I'll be getting a VR headset in the mail in a couple of days and will try out the VR experience for the first time. Curious what others who have actually tried it out with the proper headset think. Does it simulate a POV experience well or is there an "Uncanny Valley" feel to it? I'm going with the el cheapo cardboard variety VR headset... don't know how much that'll make a difference vs pricier versions. I've heard as long as you take the time to calibrate them properly they are for the most part, just as good.
I used the Samsung Gear VR w/ my galaxy S7 It's pretty good actually but depending on the scene imo. I just "watched" 2 scenes and 1 demo scene. The sample scene was Kagney linn Carter and that black guy Mo. That one seemed...meh because of distance issues. The VR looks best when the girl is positioned just at your dick or off to the side kneeling on the couch as if you can reach to the side and smack her fanny; such as in the first scene I watched.... if your device is android and supports 1080p 60fps 180 degree vr videos perfectly without issue (aka the typical "high quality smartphone vr" option) - google cardboard or some other ultra cheap headset alternative is fine in the interim imo but regardless if it handles the file format/quality no problem, the overall quality of experience will really come down to your device with a lot of variables to consider. samsung gear vr + s7/s8 or psvr typical optimised quality is 1440-1600p 60fps and up to twice the bitrate vs. "high quality smartphone vr" option. oculus or vive up to 1920p 60fps with another 10mb of overall video bitrate on top of files compatible with gear vr + s7/s8 or psvr. That's a general breakdown of the different levels in terms of quality levels when it comes to vr porn across the board. it is a bit inaccessible at present. I talked to a VR filming guy at a studio recently. He inadvertently confirmed my view (again, just my view) that VR is poorly utilized. He/they are all into the POV side of things, think it's immersive, and keep dishing it out. POV VR (the predominant kind of VR porn) sucks ass in my opinion. It looks weird or distorted. It reeks of tech bros calculating for success without any sense of art. It is also male-centric, in a geeky way. I think VR can become a great thing, but it's going to take time for both the tech and the art to develop. I think the best use for a VR headset, at the current time, is in using it as a giant screen TV. The only downside is that the resolution sucks. It will be better once we get 4K in each eye.

I have a Samsung HMD Odyssey headset and so far the content from both VRBangers and Naughty America puts the focus a little too close to the "subject". I find myself trying to move back to take it all in. While its nice when a pair is bouncing in your face, I just find the camera positioning a little too close. I feel like a lot of VR content is designed for geeky computer nerds, and I mean geek and nerd in the old-fashioned 80s way. But that viewing option is only available on Samsung VR or the Samsung app at the moment.

Wondering if I need to start a new thread, because I'm wondering specifically about the non-POV side of VR porn, such as solo and lesbian scenes. Does the Oculus Quest 2 mean that you no longer require a super powerful PC to watch VR porn? Can you just browse the internet on the device and stream directly on the headset? If so, is there any advantage to having the higher storage if you are just streaming on Naughty America for example?
^ That depends on your definition. Since Google Cardboard and more robust plastic clones came about (it can be argued much earlier than that too), you've never needed a powerful PC to watch VR porn. You're certainly making a trade-off in pixels per eye and refresh rates when using a smartphone in a rudimentary VR headset but it's VR nonetheless.
To answer your second question, yes Quest 2 does have a built in browser, OS and WiFi so it can playback VR content independently of a PC.
On your third point, greater storage can be beneficial if a streaming site uses your local storage for caching but you only foresee yourself streaming, I very much doubt you will get any benefit out of the 256GB option over the base option.
Thanks for that. Been thinking about trying VR for a while but last time I looked into it, it was still Oculus Rift and that needed a much more powerful PC than I had. Never looked too far into the cardboard thing but always thought that was for Android rather than iPhone.

Actually, that brings up a question on my end. Admittedly, I always see storage as a rather "black and white" thing. If you download, you're obviously taking up space, but if you stream, you don't. But of course, I've forgotten about caching. Do you know of a quick way to check for something like that? Would I see that if I went into my Quest's settings?
I bought the newer Oculus. I thought it was a locked-down and sanitized piece of cutesy crap. I did some side loading, watched some porn. Good VR is hard to make (I know, I tried). I still don't find any of the current content compelling.
I've been dabbling in VR for a couple years now and have used the Oculus Rift, Valve Index, Reverb G2, the VIVE Pro and now a VIVE Pro 2. VR porn can be a hit or miss with some companies getting it right, but some others don't. But when it's good, it's just too good.
All the CzechVR scenes are shot really well, but I haven't been into much of the talent on their site. But in terms of how the shoot their scenes, they're one of the best.
JAV VR is also really really good, but they have important the streaming business model from regular porn, so they mostly continue to shoot in 4K quality. I think 6K is the bare minimum for what I would call 'good quality' regarding VR porn. Cannot wait for the days when we might have real 16K content, but then those headsets are probably going to cost a fortune.
Some other VR companies I like are 18VR, VRBangers, some of the MILFVR scenes, and some of the SLR Originals.

The Quest 2 was also recently upgraded where for $300 you get 128GB now when it used to be only 64GB. That upgrade just happened around August 2021 when it was re-released. It was recalled because the foam irritated some people's skin on their face so they recalled them and re-released them with a free silicon sleeve that goes over the foam now and larger hard drives.
The cost to try and realize you don't like it would then be the cost to buy Skybox app $10 and to sign up for a VR streaming/download service you like. I recommend finding a coupon/sale offer which is usually $15-$25 on average for most VR porn sites for the first month sign up.
A lot of guys have spent more in strip clubs than the cost of a Quest 2 and you don't get your money back if you don't like the experience. So go get one and try it. Learn how it works. Make a weekend out of it and report back on here.
What it really comes down to is do you like POV porn or not. If you've ever orgasmed to a good POV porn scene, then what VR porn allows you to do is adjust the angle. It's basically customizable immersive POV porn.
You can position the view more centered with you, you can zoom in or out to a degree, you can move it up or down and adjust the positioning. However to do this, you need a good streaming app like Skybox that gives you those added controls. Viewing it in the browser or straight off their website is not the same experience as having control to move the positioning around. Browser view doesn't let you adjust the angles like Skybox app does. It literally is 100 hex better with Skybox app. To load in Skybox app you have to download the file and transfer it to your Oculus 2 directly or stream it via your PC with the Skybox desktop app.
Most people are using Skybox app and that's what I use and recommend. It's a VR media player app that lets you view your VR video files with options to adjust the positioning up/down/in/out/left/right/tilt/etc. You have to pay $10 for the app on the Oculus Quest 2 as an in app purchase and it's extremely worth it. The desktop version is free to download to your PC. You will want to install both.
From there you find a scene you might be interested in, or a few of them, download them to your PC. You then can either transfer load them to your Oculus Quest 2 128gb or 256gb, or you can just leave them on you PC or in a hard drive connected to your PC. I recommend just using the Skybox desktop app. You install it on your PC and then drag and drop the folder with your VR porn onto the app and it connects to that folder.
From there it all runs off your wifi internet. So you put on your Oculus Quest 2, launch the Skybox app on it and click the air connect button and it connects to your desktop skybox folders and streams it over your wifi connection. So you could have a 2tb-14tb hard drive full of VR porn you downloaded and just stream it from the the desktop app.
Or you can sign up on a website and stream the VR straight from their site if they have a good streaming platform but to really get the best experience you'll want to download them and play them in an app like Skybox.
What I recommend is to look for sign up deals and coupons.

Also if you are struggling with which headset to buy, just buy an Oculus Quest 2 to start. You only need the 128GB version for $300. You can get the 256GB if you have the money to spend but you honestly will not need it. At first you may load a few titles on the device to see how it works but it's a slow transfer and a hassle that you'll likely just stream everything via Skybox or another app. That means they all stay on a hard drive and stream from a desktop PC.
When you sign up on all the websites, you'll see that their best file downloads are usually for Quest 2. They are h264 or h265 and are the largest file sizes. All other devices are usually not as large in file size or quality. So it lets you download the best files and play them.
The Quest 2 is actually being sold at a discount because Facebook requires an account to use it and collects data with it. If you want a device that doesn't require a FB account they charge twice as much for a business version of the device. So basically you are getting more advanced tech in exchange for them requiring you to connect it with a FB account. However when you setup the device, you can register a new FB account just to activate and turn it on. I personally would not recommend connecting it to your real one if your main purpose is to watch porn with it. Just create a throwaway FB account, a new one. If you have any issues doing that, you can just return the device so you have no risk in trying. From there you get some of the most advanced tech to use at a discounted rate.
The Quest 2 has a lot of good add-ons for it too, like more comfortable head straps, face padding, etc. you can buy to upgrade it later if you want. I spent hours researching and comparing, just start with the Quest 2. You can get one at Best Buy or Target.
The main add-ons you'll want to consider getting if you really like VR porn are and don't already have them:
A Portable Charger (Anker is a good brand). The Oculus Quest 2 battery will last around an hour. With a good charger connected to it with a USB C cable, you can get an extra 4 hours of time using it. The average VR porn scene is around 40 minutes to 90 minutes long. They are all very long scenes so you could easily spend hours viewing VR. You'll want to get a good portable charger and keep it connected, make sure the charger icon loads so it shows it's charging while you are using it.
A longer USB C to USB cable The one that comes with it is not very long. This lets you put the portable charger on the ground or bed nearby and run the wire to your headset and have enough room to move your head around. The anker has a USB out only on most devices. So you have to use USB out to USB C in the Oculus Quest 2. The USB C on the Anker is for input only and to charge it so it won't do USB C to USB C. Basically you can use the cable your quest 2 comes with on your Anker worst case scenario but it's not long enough unless you strap your anker to your headset with velcro straps which some people do.
A more comfortable head strap You can remove the elastic headstrap it comes with and put on a more comfortable foam strap you buy off amazon. They are called elite straps and there are a lot of reviews on them on youtube and amazon to decide.
A lens cleaning cloth or lens pen Some people say to use a lens pen to clean the lenses, but I think a lens cleaning cloth works fine.
An Oculus Quest 2 case There are some deals on cases that come with accessories on Amazon. You can look to see which deal looks best for you. You'll most likely leave it out charging but the case will eventually be nice to store it all away. It does not come with a case, it just comes with a charger plug and cable.
AA batteries Each hand remote uses 1 AA battery so you'll either need some backup AA batteries or some rechargeable AA batteries to replace them out. They last for maybe a week or two of use before needing to be replaced. It comes with the batteries already in them.
A large hard drive and good internet The average VR scene is 10GB to 25GB in file size. Anything a few years old is usually 10GB, anything more recent on average is 15GB. 100 scenes is usually around 1TB+. You can stream them and just download your absolute favorites or those worth keeping. Most reviews online are of people mentioning the scenes they thought were worth keeping.

I love all kinds of nasty porn including some of my favorites being Facialabuse, HUHS, Hoby, etc.. Even as a guy who enjoys super hardcore scenes, I still find VR porn way way way way better than any hardcore porn on a flat screen. It is miles apart, but of course, I don't expect everyone to be like me. I've almost given up on flat screen porn except for a few scenes here and there. A bulk of my resources go to VR companies and VR headsets haha

VR porn on the Vive Pro 2 is miles better than Quest 2. Quest 2 sucks and I never enjoyed VR porn on it.
Also, Facebook makes it a requirement that you can only use Quest 2 through a Facebook account. That's ridiculous!
I think one benefit of VR porn is the pornstars look more beautiful and feel more human. I've watched porn for years and I think there is a real disconnect with regular porn in that the women are more sex objects.
In VR porn I've seen some pornstars and I was like wow, she is really really beautiful and I think, I had no idea she was that beautiful in real life. Even pornstars where you think, she's not that attractive, you see them in VR and you're like no, I see now she is very attractive.
You don't realize how beautiful some porn stars are as women until you see them in VR porn. You really get a sense more of their personality and get to experience them smiling at you, kissing you in VR, whispering in your ear. It does shift some to a girlfriend experience and for the most part the porn is not as much hardcore pounding. I think part of that could be because a lot of the hard core pounding you get in regular porn comes down to the editing.
VR porn tends to be longer natural editing so they leave a bit more in and it slows it down. This leads to a lot more skipping ahead.
This could be changed if they edited it more hardcore and focused on pounding action in bursts and then cut to the next VR angle. I think there is definitely a lot of interest in seeing that done and it's not really being done. However that doesn't mean there aren't some really solid gems out there.
I think the main thing to keep in mind is your expectations. If you've ever bought a porn DVD for $10/$15 you know that on average maybe 1-2 scenes will be really good. If you can get 3 scenes that are good or 4, that is usually a very good DVD. Now imagine having access to 500 scenes for $10 and 50 of them are really good. Is that a good deal? That is an incredible deal. That's basically VR porn. For the price of DVD you are getting access to hundreds of scenes on a streaming website.
If you get 10-15 that are worth downloading, that's like $1 a scene. If you find at least 4 that are amazing, that's better than your average porn DVD. It's really a steal.
Also just like your regular porn, keep in mind that you don't get off on the whole scene. It's just one part in the scene that really does it for you and you end up orgasming. So don't go in expecting the whole scene to be incredible, it really just comes down to is there an angle in there that really does it for you. With VR porn they spend so much time with the pornstars that they get a ton of angles. If you don't like the way it looks laying on the back, you skip ahead and there is a better angle on all fours, or cowgirl, or reverse cowgirl, they get all the angles usually.
With regular porn the scenes are a lot shorter to fit on a DVD so you are often left thinking I wish they got an angle of them on all fours, or I wish they would have showed her ass more from behind, or a big one for me on DVDs is I wish they would have held that great angle longer, it was too short. With VR porn they are very long scenes and you get a ton more time in each position. A lot of VR scenes are as long as DVDs themselves at around 60-90 minutes.
On the Quest 2, when you get it, you can create a new Facebook account just to set it up. They don't press you with using the account, you just need to create a new one and make some stuff up. I agree I don't like that practice, but it allows you to get the technology at a discount versus what they charge for a business version of the device that doesn't require it at around twice the price.
The Vive Pro 2 is $800 versus the Quest 2 128gb is $300. I think for people who have never even tried VR porn, starting out with the Quest 2 is a solid start before investing more. If it's not good enough, they can return it and get a Vive Pro 2. I think what's most likely to happen is they start with the Quest 2 and use it for a while and later upgrade to a better device like you did. Even you started with it before upgrading to a more expensive one. I think by the time they upgrade, maybe they upgrade to the Vive Pro 3 or the next gen after.
For now the Quest 2 I think is more than enough to figure out if you like VR porn or not. That's really what you have to figure out first before you invest a lot into it.
