Howdy all. I am back with Vivid and I want to answers all your questions, gripes, and problems you may have. We are committed to making the best product that you will enjoy and come back for more. I know that people have commented on the phone sex ads you cannot fast forward thru, that has been resolved 3 years ago. They are all in a chapter now. You don't have to see them if you don't want to. The commercials at the beginning, which differ from the phone sex ads, are completely skippable. I would love to get everything you guys want fixed. I am coming on here in good faith, I am trying to do the right thing. If you haven't seen a Vivid movie for a longtime and you are just coming on to bash Vivid, please save it. It does no one any good. I am here in an effort to bring you a better product. B. Skow does most of our productions, he has received really great reviews here and elsewhere. He will come on sometime this week, because he really cares what you guys think. Hi Howard thanks for making this thread. Although I've had quite a few problems with vivid films over the years, one that which you might be able to have a direct role in helping is speeding up the time it takes for a film to come from being produced to actually being released. Just a couple films that stuck out for me in that regard, were briana banks movie with B skow (flashback) and her other movie Perfect Match, both of which took 1.5 & 2 years respectively to be released from their production date(or when I heard about them filmings at least). Porn's a pretty fast paced business and if the star of a movie, is no around to help promote it after it's released(because they're either retired or no longer with the company) I think that's a missed opportunity for vivid.

Good point. The one problem I know of is that Vivid has a schedule done for the year. But let me present this and I will get back and let you know what can be done.
While Vivid products are not my favorite, you guys do have girls that I enjoy seeing. My biggest problem with every release I've purchased or rented is the quality of the scene. They always seem dimly light. Most porn is bright and vibrant, but Vivid releases seem to always be a bit darker and look like they've been dubbed 100 times on VHS before they get to my DVD player. I'm glad you fixed the ads in the beginning. That's actually the reason I discontinued buying Vivid product. The last DVD I bought was Maneater with Janine and the fact that I couldn't fast forward through the 10 minutes of crap in the beginning is the reason why I (1) never watched that video again and (2) never purchased another Vivid DVD. Finally, it's a bummer that you guys wait so long to release product. I heard you have some new Janine material, and if that's true... who knows when it'll be released. I'm a "strike while the iron's hot" type of guy and you guys play it slow and steady. Then again, you're a multi million dollar company and I shoot skanks from Craigslist for $100 a pop... so you guys don't need my advice. Always. the only problem is it is for more love of the art than the money. They just don't pay big bucks for scripts. Any company that is. But yes if you have a synopsis for something and it is good, we would commission the script. I would love to do it for a fan on ADT.
Please let a better director take care of the Where the Boys aren't series. That last guy totally ruined it. And make the next one without toys. Toys are lame, nobody wants to see them in all girl movies anymore (unless they are properly used which isn't the case in 99% of all movies).
Diversify your films. There are some black porn actresses out their that can not only fuck with the best of them, but can also act. While I'm very thankful that there are companies out their like Vivid and Wicked that are still producing plot-driven sex features, it is discouraging to see that more than 99 percent of them are predominently white with some Hispanics and Orientals added. An African American porn actress has been a rarity. This is no knock on the ladies from the white, Hispanic or Oriental groups, but simply a statement that porn features should get with the 21st century and look more representative of the country. That means also being inclusive of black porn actresses. Be bold enough to go outside of the tiny minority of black women -- Jada Fire, Marie Luv, Monique -- who seem to be among the very few to be able to get themselves in a cast of other white women in features. Might I recommend: = Jasmine Cashmire, who has distinguished herself as an actress in the all-black sex-thriller feature "Ramsom" = Mona Devine, who has inspired some confidence in her acting potential in numerous vigenettes. = Olivia Winters, who showed she can carry dialogue and sex equally well in Afro-Centric's "Desperate Blackwives 4" = Lavish Styles,Lacey D., Angel Eyes, Sydnee Capri, Naomi Knoxxxx (or Banxxx), Courtney Divine, Sinammon Love, Vivica Coxx, Vanessa Monet, Roxy Reynolds, Candace Von, Kitten (if she hasn't retired), India are all good bets for porn features.
Most would say he's caught up with everything but the big production/potential AVN award winner movies. Belladonna's DMJ2? Any Jenna Jameson/Janine movies still lurking in the ethers? If its something that's got the real potential to be big we know its going to be held till who knows how long by the potential time it could be irrelevant. Gonzo material of course they'll get out on a faster basis. But when we look and see a movie released in 09 with a production date of 06? That's gettin silly.
Hey Woody, it says Vivid Video / Club Jenna in your avatar, so you maybe can answer the following question: I'm still wondering about the release date for Jack TheZippers latest movie FUCK THE WORLD. It was originally scheduled for a september 22 release (last year!) under the new sub-label Club Jenna Underground. Then it was reviewed in the small blu-ray section of AVN magazine in december 2008. The strangest thing: Fuck the World was nominated for 5 AVN awards, although it's still not available. It is most likely a great movie but this is odd... Do you have some information on this?

As someone who actually collects the reviews of all of my clients' (Wicked Pictures, Vouyer Media, Burning Angel) projects, I can say it obvious from the content of the reviews that the movies have actually been watched.

They for sure watch the movies, unlike some people on this site that say this sucks and that sucks, then when you ask them if they have seen it, they say no, but I know it sucks. This recently happened to me. I was being bashed but good, then I ask when, honestly, was the last time you saw a Vivid movie, his answer was,I haven't seen one in years and years.
^^^ It just indicates what a huge hill you have to climb Howard. Vivid has sucked for a long time, and many porn consumers, some of them right here on ADT and me included, have spent their money on Vivid products over the last decade and have not been happy with what they have seen. Simply, they have been branded with a bad reputation for those who like harder edge porn. It won't be easy to overcome those opinions, especially when you are asking people to spend their money. If I go to a deli three times, and each time I get a bad sandwich, it would be pretty damn hard to get me to go back and buy a fourth one.

I can relate to that. If you are looking for hard edge porn, maybe Vivid features aren't for you, I know the B.Skow stuff is pretty edgy and packed full of sex. The last decade is a longtime, honestly when is the last time you saw a Vivid movie? Things have changed, especially over the last 3 years. They do not make peeing , bondage, degradation movies, period. Everything that is in most major companies movies is in vivids. You will have a chance to talk to B. Skow in the next several days, tell him your concerns. I know Throat with sasha grey was excellent and pretty damn hardcore. Tristins Rough Sex is exactly what it is, rough sex. If you try it and don't like it, I will always exchange it for something else for you.
This is not what I was referring too. More like a few steps past the condom/couples stuff that Vivid has a reputation for. I know the condoms, for the most part are gone, but too much dialogue/story and a heavy emphasis on the sets/attire is a no buy for me. Give me a bed or a couch, good lighting, good camera work from a cameraman who keeps his mouth shut, and two people who want to fuck.

Hirsch will never make a movie that cannot be shown at any major hotel after about 10 minutes of editing. Degradation in Hirsch-speak covers 99% of gonzo. This is an exercise in paddycake-paddycake.
Thanks for reading my suggestions howard. One thing to understand about ADT is that there is a diverse range of opinions almost like going to a sports bar and asking people randomly, what type of sports they want to see, you'll get different answers). While vivid may not want to change their marketing strategy/films, completely like some may suggest, there could still be some nuggets that may still help vivid improve sales/interest. The key may be in finding the right balance between feature movies (which still has a relatively less contested market share) and movies/scenes that are more amenable for internet distribution. Vivid may even want to just create a website that shows its own original internet scenes first (like brazzers) then use the large distribution network you have to make compilation movies from those scenes.
If they really watch the movies, I would love to see them bitch about the 5 minutes of "commercials", that can't be skipped, at the beginning of every Vivid disc. Do we really need to watch 5 minutes of ads every time we insert a disc? Vivid may see it as revenue. I see it as a big "FUCK YOU" to the viewer.
Personally, I am really swinging back into liking the features these days. For me, the gonzo stuff is starting to lose its appeal b/c so much of it is the same. I have read (somewhere on ADT) that Vivid is cutting back their number of features. I hope that this isn't the case--and if it is, I hope that the features that DO come out are spectacular.

I also second what someone above mentioned about featuring African American actresses - this would really be a great step forward. In fact, diversity in general. I believe when I watched a recently released Vivid movie, the ads weren't compulsory, but you could not go straight to the menu. You had to skip past each ad separately. Do away with all UPO's.
So now that I've learned that the guys at AVN actually watch the movies they review, then what's up with my initial question? According to this, some reviewer at AVN had the FUCK THE WORLD blu-ray in his hands and in his player back in september, but the product still isn't available. What happened?

Bill if you have read the previous posts you would know that all the commercials ARE skippable. They have been for quite sometime. I'm not sure why you want to spread misinformation, but if you did your homework before posting outright false statements, it would probably help all parties concerned. One again for the record, the 800 ads are in chapters now, you don't even have to see them. The ads at the beginning are one click and gone. Thank you. Obviously we can't be everything to everyone. Vivid has worked very hard over the last 25 years to bring out a really great product. They have been very successful doing it, dare I say the most successful of all the companies. Trends come and go, we are still here. Because gonzo maybe the trend now, it doesn't mean the features don't sell, they do. The biggest mistake is to become something we are not. We make really good pornos with great sex. I am glad you enjoy them, you are my kinda people.
That's something I was wondering too - I'm trying to get PT's Out For Blood from 1990, and it's apparently nonexistent. Rereleases of classic features would be freakin' awesome!
