good point. kind of reminds me of the not-too-rare pro-athlete situation where he has to decide whether to be a free-agent or sign a contract. If he stays free agent, he has the chance to maybe earn more money the following year if he has a great season and gets picked up for more money. On the other hand, let's imagine that he has a knee that is a little less than 100%. If he doesn't sign a contract this year, he takes the chance of his knee blowing out and ending up with no future money from the sport.

Tony - for what it's worth, jamesn kind of hit it right - people like Kevin and Michael and me and lots of other industry people that come to ADT (and go happily to events that aren't industry-only, etc.), do it because we care. And when we care, we're often going to be a little prickly when we feel like someone's always attacking us. Add in a sarcastic tone from the people who enjoy looking from the outside in, and it's not fun and games anymore. In fact, maybe it would be a little easier to have a decent discussion with people if it was done as a discussion, and not sarcastic quips one after another. We wouldn't be here if we didn't want to talk. But please - talk with us, don't just take jabs that barely make sense.
I think Michael's one of the best feature directors today, and Kevin is making a really good name for himself in gonzo. I don't think it's a coincidence that each of them cares a LOT about the type of porn they make. They maybe prioritize the things that's important to them in their movie, but that's kind of the point. They prioritize, and do they things they (and hopefully their fans) want to see. If fans vote with their wallets, and hopefully they do, then the directors who aren't pleasing anyone will get the point soon enough.
Does a contract help a porn star become a good money manager? If not, they are in the same boat, except there is less money in the equation. Seeking opportunities like Playboy TV takes planning. Having a stage act enough to tour takes the willingness to travel and do some work. But if you have a those qualities, the nest egg of a few busy months should also be enough.

Avy Scott has said that she's turned down contracts. I think it was a good choice in her case, because she does not feature dance due to stage fright.
I believe that every porn girl would like to be rich, in addition to being famous. From what I've observed, surrounding yourself with the right people is essential. Jenna Jameson has her business whiz husband and together they are a formidable team. Other less fortunate performers have surrounded themselves 'teammates' that turned out to be little else but hangers on that have sucked them dry.
Becoming a contract girl is good for generating publicity, but little else. I heard that Teagan's DP contract stated that DP controlled where she could appear, as well as her web presence. That could kill opportunities to make paid appearances if the company does not approve as well as the easy money generated by a website (if the site is good and well marketed, this can go into six figures). Does anyone know how much a contract is for? I heard that some girls only get $60,000.

What qualifies a girl for a contract? The twins that Vivid signed last year had never had sex on camera before, so were they mainly signed for their looks? There are several girls that I can think of that had never done porn, but got contracts upon entry. How does that happen? Is it because its easier to bring a realiable stunning girl in from the outside than to find one directly from the porn pool?
Believe it or not -- and while I am sad to say, Tiffani Digivanni turned down the Hustler contract offered. Not because of the terms, company or money, it was a personal choice in so much that she really doesnt want to do boy-girl.
She was offered another contract for girl-girl only and felt that she would feel better emotionally and physically from that type of work instead.
Sometimes, even in this biz, some people are more inspired by personal freedom and choice then money or fame.
I give her a lot of credit though.

I'm sure Tiffani will be successful doing G/G, it won't affect her popularity. She was a real hit at Adultcon 9, guys were making a beeline to her and not the other girls at her booth; she was frequently surrounded to the point where you couldn't see her.
Thanks, I will let her know your thoughts. As for Adultcon, I was there, kinda watching to see how she handled the attention. It was her first real fan show. I think she did rather well. She sold a ton of photos. She has such a sweet innocent personality, it is hard to believe that she is even in this business. She is like no other client I have.
