I mean, it's not the type of subject that is appropriate to bring out in everyday conversation, but when the subject is brought up, why do some people refuse to admit ever having masturbated in their lives? As a guy, I would be willing to bet money that 100% of sexually-able guys have masturbated. I can't speak for women, but I'm sure there's a very large percentage of them, too. Personally, I know that I could not have gotten through life up until now without masturbation. Seriously, especially when I was younger and growing up, masturbation was a way for me to relieve so much tension, both sexual and otherwise. I am currently single and masturbate every day, but even when I had a girlfriend I was masturbating. And I know I'm not the only one.

Well, some people get paid to masturbate on-screen.

I can't imagine anyone doing it for recreational reasons.

I mean, really.

Embarassment, shame, self-consciousness, guilt, remorse, feelings of insecurity, the need for approval, that nagging feeling that it's "dirty" or "wrong" or they're going to Hell.

** SIGH**...insert usual cobalt rant. I ain't got the energy for it right now.

I don't know. I think its a society thing, your taught from a early age sex is bad and naked is bad and all.. (well for the most part, I wasn't brought up that way). And self pleaser, well that WAY to much to handle for most..

Now I don't masturbate every day, but I would never deny doing it, maybe a couple of times a week, but I'm very sexually active with my g/f (of 10 years no less), so masturbation is really a tool for me for a sleep tool :p

I think a lot of people deny they beat off because they think they should be getting laid more--or that's what they think others will say.

...which is too damn bad! It makes you a better lover. I'd never have lasted so long my first time if I hadn't been (ahem) practicing for years leading up to it!

Masturbation is fun, easy, and free. And good for you - it relieves stress; it even helps reduce a man's chances of getting prostate cancer (too lazy to find the link). And it helps keeps you faithful. Better that I fantasize about and masturbate to my conquests than fuck up my marriage.

I often rub one out in the shower in the AM, or if the wife's not feeling well, or when I'm alone in the house and have some new porn. Any time's a good time for an orgasm!

The only time in my entire life I ever didn't masturbate was at boot camp, for obvious reasons. I had one of my only wet dreams there, though, about my gf back home. I hadn't come in like two months; talk about MESSY.

No, GetCool, you're not the only one! I'm no expert, but I dare say you're more well-adjusted and have a healhier attitude about your body and your sexuality if you masturbate and aren't afraid to admit it.

My wife is one of those people who really didn't masturbate growing up. Her mom never talked to her about sexuality, and she says it just never occurred to her to try it. Hell, she was so inhibited when we first got married, she wouldn't even take a dump if I was home! Nowadays, if I ask her to masturbate for me while I go down on her, she does so gladly, and life is good.

Jerk to your health, boys and girls, it's good, clean fun!

Yeah, you're all right. I had a friend in college that told me with a straight face he never masturbated in his life. It wasn't like he had any physiological problems or anything, so I knew he was lying. That's just downright ridiculous. Like I was really going to think any less of him if he admitted to it. Actually, I thought less of him by him denying it ;)

Welcome to the Church of the Painful Truth!

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, my beamish boy, and you've just paddled over to the shore. Step right off and let the rest of the poor, self-deluded souls drown in their own emotional backwash!

You'll get all the documentation and whatnot later, but for now just recognize that your life's going to be a whole lot more satisfying because you don't lie to yourself and you recognize that fault in others (and it bothers you; that's good , it should!).

We don't live all that long, so why waste time on bullshit?

Honestly, if your friend was telling the truth, I'd be more afraid of someone who really, truly doesn't masturbate than someone who does. Ever hear of Ed Gein?

Repressed sexuality, rage, frustration, denial, build up in people and create really bizarre psychopaths and sociopaths. You don't still hang with this dude, do you? If you do, I'd buy a gun!

Be cool, GetCool!

Time for a little story...

Years ago when I was in the Marines, after Boot Camp and school, I went to my first duty station. 18 years old and not really sure what to expect I was sent in to meet the Top (Master Sergeant). While he was looking over my orders he looks up at me from his desk and says, "Do you masterbate?" Dumbfounded by the question, I said the first thing that came to mind "Yes". He then stood up took my hand and shook it saying, "Good. Because there are two kinds of people in the world those that do and liars. Nice to know which one you are."

Most of the time I get done with everything. The most times that I whacked off in one day was 17 times. I remember that day very good, it was when the website, Exploited Teens opened up and I managed to find a password and username for it. At that time I had a 56k modem and downloading movies was really sllllowwwwww so I whacked off whole night. I was so tired in the morning that I was afraid to go to the place that I planed to go. I hoped to do 20 times but 17 was my maximum.

Here's a link to one of my columns, which might explain some of that for you, nietzsche.

There are people who don't masturbate, mostly women and girls. I'm sure there are also some guys that don't, though they must take an occasional rub and feel.

No, I don't. I take a really big stinky shit at least three times a day, maybe more. It's such a relief when that shit comes out of my asshole.

Come on, man. If you jack off, would you tell the world? Or would you prefer to keep it private? The main difference is that everyone has to take a shit, but masturbation is strictly voluntary. But both are private matters that shouldn't be discussed to others.

This reminds me of all of the torture scenes where the victim (who really doesn't know anything) is in a no-win situation. Or of somebody in prison who really is innocent.

I'm not saying that it's likely that a random person on the street who says they've never masturbated actually hasn't, but it's certainly possible that they're telling the truth. There are some people who, honestly, have never consciously done this. (By saying conscious I discount such things as wet dreams.) Most often those who are very strictly religious, and most often women.

So, just automatically saying that somebody must be lying if they don't "confess" is making a little bit of a hasty judgement, without knowing anything more about the person or their background.

You're absolutely right!

Of course, we don't go ahead broadcasting it to every Tom, Dick & Harry (or is it hairy dick?); GC stipulated that it wasn't a case of everyday conversation. By inference, then, the conversation in question is anomalous.

First of all, someone has to be curious, crass, or otherwise predisposed to having broached the topic. We don't know what the questioner's motivations are.

We are not made aware, either, of whether or not the general public is involved, as when the exchange occurred on the sidewalk of a busy thoroughfare, or at a party where complete strangers or slight acquaintances are within earshot.

Certainly, your response in these different scenarios may be different.

Now, let's say you're at that party and you've had a few. WOO-HOOOOOO! You're feeling good, talking loudly, every damn thing everyone says is the funniest shit you ever heard and someone says, "Hey, buttface, how many times a day do you pull yer pud? About a thousand?" And you yell back, "I don't, ever since your mother started doing it for me!" BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

You do have a designated driver, don't you?

And no, by the same logic you can't automatically assume, 100%, that the person in question is telling the truth when they say "No, I really don't. Never have. Never cared to. Does that make me weird? I'm weird then, so what?"

We can only assume that some do, some don't, some do it a lot, some a little. But if you can say "no", and mean it, you probably convey much of that in your tone and your body language. I could tell that when my wife told me she didn't, and never really had, she was telling the truth.

Some of us are more able to pick up on that, or are more gullible, or trusting, I don't know which. But, I had no reason to doubt her then, nor has new evidence surfaced in the interim to suggest otherwise. I know she's used a vibrator a few times because I was working on a contract that had me travelling for days, sometimes a week at a time, for the first time in our life together. She got horny, understandably, its a common enough compulsion especially when you're accustomed to being brought to orgasm several times a week.

And just because I, for one, don't embarass easily and would be more willing to volunteer sensitive information about items of questionable taste such as the size, bulk, color and odiferousness of my morning dump, doesn't mean everyone should or does. However, the shame factor is often counter-productive. It's a matter of prioritization of the importance of these details in the grand scheme of your life, the lives your actions affect and to some extent, society in general. Under what circumstances is steadfastly maintained decorum a burden?

Good judgement tends to be learned, not taught. When the Marine NCO asks you a delicate question that he's going to base your trustworthiness on in a life or death situation, you'd better tell the truth or be a convincing liar. In those scenarios where the solution is not necessarily the one you prefer or assume, we have to learn the accepted lie, or conventional wisdom. It's not the same thing as good judgement, and varies from culture to culture, group to group.

It really harms no one to volunteer this information, though, regardless of the answer. The trick is to either tell the truth, or tell the lie with a straight face. It demonstrates your capability to operate within a structured environment and is often a rite of passage for some organizations or entities, and it shows that you're able to think on your feet based on the givens in your scenario.

Your answer will and should differ based on location, proximity to others, your relationship to them, your own personal agenda including but not limited to what you stand to gain or lose based on your reply, the identity of the questioner and their relationship to you and what their motivations are for asking.

Your doctor, your wife and your best friend may get three totally different answers; this is where a combination of good judgement and conventional wisdom come into play.

Whatever, methinks this is becoming a buzzkill. I bring you love! **POOF**

You are right. My point would be that any man who says he has never masturbated is one of several things:

1) Just very naive - whether he has masturbated or not unless he has lived under a fucking stone all his life he should realise that this answer is not going to prove acceptable and will lead to a thousand further questions. The real hallmark of the naivety though is that people who claim to have never masturbated seem to think this will gain them kudos when in actual fact they are just seen as either liars or abnormal.
2) A liar + naive
3) Very sexually repressed + naive
4) Hormonally abnormal + naive

I accept the situation for the girls is different on many levels but for blokes such an answer would immediateley mark someone out to me as not a good prospect for future conversations

SNP.

Edited as I'd been staring at my spelling of liar (was 'lier') for about five minutes banging my head against the keyboard because I could see the spelling was wrong but I couldn't work out how

I wonder if some people have a different definition of masturbation. Maybe if they never had an orgasm when they touched themselves they don't really think it counts. I can certainly see giving up on touching yourself if you don't have an orgasm, too. What's the point? Maybe some people tried it, thought "big deal" and didn't do it again. Maybe if you do it so infrequently that you can't really recall the last time you did it, it's like you don't ever do it - even though you know you have a couple times. Maybe if you're in a relationship and your partner has expressed a level of discomfort with your masturbating such that you have chosen to stop, you can say you do not, ever, masturbate - even though you might have previously. I think making a blanket statement proclaiming everyone must masturbate is kinda arbitrary, not everyone feels strong sexual needs or craves orgasm.

Depends on the person. IRL I won't deny it, but it's a subject I don't like to talk about except with very close friends. And even then, the last time I got burned.
Online, the quasi-anonymity makes it much easier to be candid.
I had a female friend who said she didn't. I was skeptical but mostly believed her--she had enough access to regular sex that she didn't need it as an outlet, and she never got past thinking it was weird or being self-conscious about it. A shame--I think it would have improved her sex life all sorts of ways.

So do I and I never had to "Figure it out" either. If you don't do it delibrately, it happens usually spontaneously while you are asleep. I can remember as an adolescent girl, waking up with my pillow between my legs, holding it and riding up and down on it.

Depending on the situation, I would not necessarily say anything if asked. Do you want to be the guy (HeyNow excluded ) who is remembered for talking about his big steamy shits or shooting his loads? If someone does press you on this in a public setting, you might be that guy. So, if a random persons asks me, I will most likely not reply at all, or (not so politely) tell the person to go do exactly what he/she asked me about. However, if a friend or a girlfriend asked, I would be as honest and forthcoming as is proper.

Answer: Christianity.
Christianity is a religion of death, it has nothing to do with this life. As such, it has ridiculous recommendations and absolute claims on how to behave. However, because none of the recommendations are required to be a "good christian" (ie there's only ONE "unforgivable sin"), while they don't need to do or not do certain things, they do feel guilt/shame because they think some invisible sky monster and/or relatives are watching. (The latter however has no biblical basis as according to the bible, no humans are in heaven yet, they are all still dead, waiting for the rapture, at which point they'd go to heaven). Due to this twisted (American) christian culture, many natural things are considered "sinful". I cannot think of another logical reason to deny masturbation in this culture.

Multiple male orgasms are quite possible and not that uncommon. However, I too think his story is utter horseshit. The data actually says that having multiple male orgasms is usually the result of complete control of the muscles controlling ejaculation. As such-one may have several orgasms in a row, but actually cumming each time would make it very difficult.
I've done it once, (had 4 orgasms in a row, other times perhaps 2-which Everhard does in nearly every movie), but it required additional stimulation.... and some drugs.

when you say "in a row" what exactly do you mean? i've been able to cum to orgasm multiple times (3 times in a half-hour, up to 7 in an hour, and once 10 times over 2 hours) with a small refraction period in between. sometimesi stay totally hard and other times my dick gets semi-soft between erections. i actually just posted about this earlier today:

as far as people not masturbating i always wondered about this esp. if you're a guy. i mean where would all the cum building up inside you go? it's actually kinda gross to think about a male who never masturbates. i wonder for example if catholic priests are actually dumb enough to not jerk off or do you think most of them do it any way?

I mean literally "in a row", like 4 in a 2 minute period and at least 2 of them were abnormally long for me (about 15-20 seconds each), and about 10 seconds apart between 3 and 4, and perhaps 20 between 1 and 2.
But I didn't mean dry ones like I was describing as documented and pretty well known. If you want to learn about that, just research tantric sex. Mine were all wet (ie I ejaculated 4 times in 2 minutes or less), I don't know anything firsthand about the tantric/dry multiple male orgasm but am confident it's true as I know very knowledgeable and honest people who claimed it's true/works.

^^^ i don't want to call you a liar but i'm just saying that sounds like total bullshit. i don't think 4 orgasms in 2 minutes is humanly possible. i've never even had 2 orgasms in 2 minutes. although if i really want i can orgasm 2 times in about 4 minutes.

Well I appreciate that, but I've got almost 1,000 posts and if you put them together I bet the only "questionable" claims I've made in that 1,000 are 2: 1/ that you CAN increase the length and girth of your penis (and upon being questioned, I showed pictures of extender, details, etc. (plus showed that even wikipedia says it's true with references) and this claim about multiple male orgasms.
I'm 38 man, I got no reason to make things up to look cool on the internet by claiming I jerk off so much that I've done a few impressive things in the masturbation realm... I mean, logic would dictate if I'm going to lie, it would be more like "Ya, I talked 4 girls into bed together with me once in 2 minutes", not "ya, I'm so good at jerking off I once had 4 orgasms in a row". Believe me, I was very shocked too, and it was this year.
And again, while it's not easy for males, it is completely accepted as possible. Again, look up tantric sex, this is not that crazy of a claim. However, that's not how I did it, yet shows that we're capable (as men) of more than we think if we take sex OR masturbation past the simple idea of "rosy and her five friends. Allow me to make yet another related claim that also may sound a bit nuts, yet seems less likely to be "bullshit" and reveals I'm just OCD.... and it may open doors while shutting others lol:
While happily married to a very wonderful and sexy woman 10 years younger than I, I still "jerk off" (yet hardly touch my own genitals in the process, so only in the most general sense) almost as much as when single, regardless of sex frequency (I'm sure that part doesn't sound crazy to any married or long term relationship man). However, I'm very clever and I'm an expert at masturbation. I believe in tools, and modifying good ideas already out there to reach for "just a little more". My tools involve a lot of tape, soldering iron, plenty of stereo wires, jacks, connectors, various devices, naturally which are all modified and always works in progress. And so forth.
Basically I'm a mad scientist of masturbation, so just shut up and revere the insanity.

I've never denied that I masturbate, but then again, the only people who've asked me that question are women that I've been dating. If anyone else other than someone I was sexually involved with asked me if masturbated, I'd tell them to fuck off. Seriously, who asks anyone that question?

I don't think it's so much about being asked if you masturbate but rather, people who might (for example) come to a forum like this one and give it's members a bunch of shit, with the obvious implication being that they themselves don't masturbate and there's something wrong with it.
And then, if someone returns fire, they'll probably deny they themselves masturbate or they'll change the subject or something.
