Found it, it's called 40 Inch Plus, I recommend #4 because it has Tia Sweets, Mikayla and Devon Lee.

Like this one?
Vivid produces movies that I enjoy and movies that I don't. I'd be hard pressed to name a studio that doesn't make some movies that I don't like.

Flash,
Are sure that movie wasn't a production that was in the can for a couple of years and they just now gotting around to release it, because I was under the impression that Eli Cross no longer has a working relationship with Vivid? If he is still working with them then I think he needs to be their go to director for their big productions. If he's not then I still believe Vivid needs to hire a full time director(s) of his and John's calibur.

I have been down on vivid in the past, but i think they have gotten a lot better. love the fetish scene between Penny flame and Brianna Banks, in the movie Layout. hope to see more scenes like that. they need to get Tera patrick and Janine, togather in a fetish G/G scene.

According to the box the production date is 11/15/06, however, I don't see how the fact it took a few years to release the movie is going to deminish the quality of it though. The main point I was trying to make is that one of the two directors you mentioned has done work for Vivid in the past. The other one, John Stagliano, is very unlikely to work for them. It would make no sense as he owns his own company. I'm guessing that you don't like Paul Thomas's work who does many movies for Vivid under several names since you state they need to hire some quality directors. If you haven't checked out B. Skow yet, he's a quality director that they have from what I've seen.

To the person who said that some critics of Vivid would never like them, I can say that this does not apply to me. Over the years Vivid has had many of my favorite girls in their stables (Ginger Lynn, Christy Canyon, Janine). My problem with them is that they butcher the original versions of their films for re-release, they use poor quality video and film stock, they take forever to release their backlog, and they load up their DVDs with useless "Special Features".

Flash,
When I mentioned John's and Eli's names in my original post I was mentioning them as examples of the types of directors I think Vivid should consider hiring, while it would be great for them if they could I didn't mean to suggest that Vivid specifically hire those 2 directors.

I agree with some of the other posters about B. Skow. He is the best thing Vivid has going for them. The sex in his movies is shot really really well and he also shoots the amateur series brand new faces, which is excellent.

No. I do not know the quality of every title released. I just know I gave Vivid material many chances and was disappointed every time. The box covers looked great. I tried to be selective and rent only the most promising stuff and I was still very disappointed by what I saw every single time.
Now what do you do if you buy products from a given company many times and they fail to live up to your expectations every time? I cut my losses and stop spending money on them. Maybe Vivid has some great stuff. I can't say. But I've been burned by them too many times to spend any more money on them. If I had more money to spend, I'd probably give them another chance because I do realize things can change a lot in the amount of time it's been since I saw Vivid flick.

I will never forgive Vivid for making a "shambles" of the DVD version of the classic film "Bad Wives."
A full Forty Eight (48) minutes were cut out of the original film to make room for Vivid's "extras," leaving the story line disjointed and impossible to follow.
Paul Thomas directed this award winning film, starring the absolutely gorgeous Dyanna Lauren, which to this day remains his "finest" effort, imho.
If anyone has a copy of the original VCR, check it against Vivid's "hacked up" DVD and he/she will easily see that Vivid's inept "IDIOTORS" more interested in showcasing past company films and filling ad spaces, sacrificed what is arguably, the "second" best adult feature film ever made to the "chopping" block."
Thus, I can't help but believe that such a practice by Vivid's IDIOTORS has continued, resulting in a GREAT many sketchy and disjointed feature story lines---explaining in large part why Vivid's features have fallen so much in quality these past several years.
There is ONE exception to this theory and that is Vivid's contract star Savanna Samson, as sexy, desirable and talented actress as has EVER been in porn and whose mere presence (much like a Jessica Drake) can make ANY film a success.
Take Savanna out of the picture, however, and Vivid's features with its "albatross" IDIOTORS, become one of the weakest products on the market, imho.

Ditto. I have went to the Vivid well many times over the years simply because Christy Canyon, Ginger Lynn, Asia Carrera, and Janine made so many films with them. And yes they butcher the hell out of these original versions and unless you are lucky enough to have the original VHS or can get your hands of it, then you will never again see the original version of so many of these girls' films. Besides Bad Wives, they also destroyed the great Bobby Sox, and many other classics. Every company is in business to make a profit, but Vivid doesn't even try to cater to their customers. They treat them like dirt and couldn't care less what fans want as far as quality and quantity are concerned. They can sell their cable-versions and rack up ther AVNs til the cows come home, but they are the worst company around in my book.

Its been mentioned that 'Chuck Lords' is a PT pseudonym, is BSkow another? I saw the trailer for 'Please Me' starring Monique Alexander and it felt like a PT film.
The 'Stalker' movie was done in the summer of 2006, because I remember Eli blogging about the annoying behavior of Vivid contract girls in the film. It was very funny. Hopefully, it is still up on his MySpace blog.

Chuck Lords is Paul Thomas, unless they have hired Paul Thomas to pretend to be him in BTS footage. As of yet I haven't seen anything indicating that B. Skow is Paul Thomas.

There is hope for vivid.i agree that the mid-90's was a golden age.but vivid can be good again.here is my thing. someone must like what they are doing or they would not keep doing it. they are in the business of making money.im hoping that the rough sex line Penny flame, is going to direct, will help. they need a change of pace in my opinion. but who am i? what they are putting out must be selling.

Vivid regained my attention when they signed Lexie Marie, Monique Alexander and Lanny Barby but they haven't done anything worth noting since acquiring those girls. Lexie retired, Monique looks to be on her way out and Lanny hasn't been utilized properly. Sunny Leone is hot but it takes more than one headliner to keep a company relevant. They have had superstar after superstar and somehow dropped the ball almost every time.
But as long as we're talking about producing crap, Digital Playground comes to mind.

Sometimes you have to go back to your roots. what vivid needs is a reunion movie. bringing back girls like Raylene,Julia Ann, D.Lauren,Janine and Nikki tyler. put them in an all girl movie and let her rip.

All of those stars are far from being the roots of Vivid. IIRC they were the first "video" company back in the early 80s.

Well they've got trailers for WTBA 19 on their DVD's (I saw it on Cry Wolf) so it should be coming out soon. It's available on ADE's pre-booking section.
But that's Vivid for you. They'll hold on to movies for years and release them later in an attempt to make the girls look like they're still signed with them or active.

They had solid looking people in the 90s when hardcore was still softer, so they were more competitive then for your eyeballs, but it didn't always turn into compelling movies....
The winning strategy with them was to rent their big compilations of someone you were interested in so you got like 4 hrs of Canyon or Dyanna or Celeste or Samson. Almost guaranteed to see a well-rounded look at the person that way.
But I totally get the "burned too many times, not going back to that well again" argument.

Unfortunately WTBA 19 is directed by Chi Chi La Rue again. That guy turned this series into a big load of trash.

The three dvds you are talking about were released 5 years ago or more.
They are comps.
Vivid still makes and sells some of the best porn out there.
You are talking about the most successful adult company in the history of porn.
Check out the new stuff they are doing, Vivid Alt, Vivid Ed, Brand New Faces.
You seem to be generalizing quite a bit.

Is Vivid going to do anything about their movies being on the Torrent sites? Where The Boys Aren't 19 is on the torrents. It has the same cast as #18, which suggests it was shot at the same time.
Also, can you explain why transfers of original Vivid VHS movies to DVD end of re-edited with portions of the original movie cut out? I do not mean to make you uncomfortable or put you on the spot, Howard, I am genuinely curious.

They were the biggest in porn because they were only one of a handful of companies that existed. Thus they had a virtual monopoly. This is all the more reason to disdain Vivid. They had the best looking women and dominated the market yet churned out crap every year to hungry porn addicts who deserved better. It took good old fashion competition from better companies thanks to internet age to give the porn audience what they really wanted. Ever since online porn came on the scene, Vivid has been losing market share year in and year out. Their vanilla elitism has been their undoing, and more recently their inability to evolve.

IIRC this was actually done for VHS to fit the titles on a certain brand/size tape but I could be wrong.
