I just don't get it man. People look at you crazy when you say that you pay for porn. However, the fact is that there would be no new porn if it weren't for people like us on this site. People look at porn as a luxury, but if it weren't for the true fans there would be less porn. Porn is put out at such a small amount compared to the mid 2000's golden era, and its sad because titles like Gag Factor and Fuck My Skull have been discontinued because they are all "niche" titles. I dont understand why there is a stigma against this. I like what brazzers is doing to allow you to pay for porn with different gift cards. We need to remove this stigma!

I'm not sure who these people are that you speak of looking at you crazy.
However, I suspect that the teenage males who live at home, and so cannot buy porn without at least risking their parents finding out, go a long way towards explaining the phenomenon of pirating porn. Unfortunately, once they leave home they may be so inured to their bad behavior that they simply continue to steal even when the reason they started doing so no longer applies.

Pretty much people in the 18-25 demographic like me. People think they are entitled to handout with porn.

I know exactly where you're coming from, fanman. I've been a porn consumer for 25 years (bought my first top-shelf mag in 1988 - after finally plucking up the courage!) and I've paid for everything since. I wouldn't even know where to get 'free' porn from, seriously. I've never typed the words 'free porn' into a search engine; never entertained the idea of doing so. But my friends and work colleagues, as you say, wouldn't dream of paying.
I've always wondered about the quality of 'free' porn. Is it as good as paid for stuff or is it - as I've always envisioned - a bit like watching one of those 8-hour Leisure Time compilation DVDs?
The trouble with this day & age is that so much is treated as just a throwaway commodity. I can't imagine anyone availing themselves of 'free' porn truly appreciates it in the same way as your average ADT member.

The thought process behind people who think that way is pretty simple....there's tons of porn on the web for free so why would anyone in their right mind pay for it? It's the mentality of most people simply don't know or care that in order for porn to be made the people making it need to make money. That plus the stigma of buying porn in any form is embarrassing/creepy. Getting it free on the net eliminates the embarrassment of buying it, having to hide it after it's bought, and best of all it's FREE. Lastly, it's porn. Not anything worth owning or paying for like a "real" movie or music. Just something to watch for a few minutes, do your thing and move on.
While I totally can understand the thinking of those people it's still a bad thing that has really impacted the porn biz in a bad way. I watch the free stuff from time to time but more as a preview to the stuff I want to buy or to see stuff that's no longer available to buy. But I understand that I'm a minority that would rather pay for most of the stuff I watch.

I think this applies to porn more so than any other product. As a society, we teach people that porn is valueless, trash, disposable, and not art. So why would anyone feel badly about not paying for it?

In my circle of friends no one under 30 admits to ever paying for porn.
Just a sad fact of life.
To this day I, however, don't mind paying a premium for 'quality' adult entertainment.

Ever stop to think how much (porn) money you'd have saved had you been born a woman? Then again, I'd probably still have blown the same on shoes and handbags.

Same reasoning I had back then for videogames , many including friends called me crazy and worse because I kept paying for my games all original , I even used to buy two consoles of the same model one PAL and one American NTSC instead of modding the one I already had.
Fact is if nobody pays nothing will came out it's simple as that , I do my share to sustain the industry, different reasoning is for material out of print and not distributed online , I have no choice in such a case.

I find this incredibly difficult to believe.
I am constantly typing things like "bree olson nude" into search engines to find pictures to use in my posts on ADT. Most of the "web" results are links to tube sites, and some of the image results are screen caps from scenes on tube sites.
Saying you don't know where to get free porn on the internet is like the guy who hangs out at sleazy strip clubs saying he doesn't know where to find hookers.

Seriously, I have never, ever, ever even considered not paying for porn. I know free stuff is out there but as I don't want it I've never searched for it. Sure, I've sourced the odd image from across the web for ADT posting purposes but that's hardly the same thing is it?

Nobody is accusing you, but seriously , if I put Bree Olson on the search engine to find a store where to buy a random DVD ,I'll receive pages and pages of tubesites and free content , if I really want to find a store I usually arrive to page 3 , and this after checking some of the links.
As for the women , they may spend less in average than those regular here but this is not true for the regular people .
If you happen to join an amateur site (although actually right now many of them closed new entries due to assholes taking content and distributing it everywhere or even selling it) you will find out that not only a lot of the members are females but also watch the other members and sometimes are VERY expert about porn , since I'm a regular here when I say VERY this means a lot.

It may apply to porn more than any other product but, considering that pirating hit the music industry long before it really impacted porn, I'm not sure that a perceived lack of value explains the phenomenon.
I think it more likely that pirating really got going when underage males got computers in their rooms at home. What started out as "Look at me! I've got the cool new tune!", turned into a free-for-all, literally. Whatever you couldn't get through legitimate means, for whatever reason, you just stole, and everybody in your peer group was okay with that.

^ This may be the case, but I still slightly disagree. The chain of effect of seeing porn as valueless involves lack of accessibility and a degree of shame/embarrassment even in the present day. So, for example, people may pirate mainstream stuff ruthlessly, but still every single person I know pays for cable and pays for netflix. There isn't a comparable system in operation for adult film except for things like aebn and hotmovies.com, which are available through the ROKU. You have to pay for the box, then pay for each film individually, and then on top of that choose the option to label it "spreadsheet tutorials" (I kid you not) so people won't know you have porn (but will wonder why the fuck you want to access spreadsheet tutorials...).
All this to say, in my opinion there is a system in place rooted in the low value we place on porn that ripples out and has an effect on accessibility/distribution and results in people simply not paying for it.

Much faster Internet connections -- primarily when they first became available to young males on college campuses -- the invention of MP3 files (i.e. much smaller files than CD audio, with decent sound quality) and peer-to-peer networks (e.g. the original Napster) is what kicked-off the "Internet piracy revolution."
What protected porn, actually video in general, for so long was the sheer size of video files and the time it took to download them. Also, the small size (e.g. 200 x 300 resolution) and dreadful AV quality of early pirated porn content -- although easily available -- did not affect industry sales to any large extent. Sure, it held some appeal to "look at me" teenage males, but didn't offer a real alternative/option to paying for real porn you could whack-off to.
Now that the average non-techie Internet consumer can download 4GB 1080P video files in 10-15 minutes, stealing video content via the Internet is epidemic.
That, and organized corporate piracy -- wherein companies pirate and host content to bait the hook for their real business: selling ads and harvesting and selling your personal information.
It's not just porn.
If it can be stolen via the Internet, it will be.
Print, music, video... corporate and government proprietary information... your personal information and privacy, with the worst-case scenario of stealing from you and those you do business with...
Bottom-line: Rationalized theft of intellectual property and copyrighted content via the Internet is the new black.

Unless you are very careful to avoid buying porn from some of the biggest producers in the business, you are probably helping fund the largest tubesite conglomerate in the world.
While some producers clearly deserve our support (Evil Angel, Elegant Angel and Burning Angel are three such angels), patronizing others (like Digital Playground, Reality Kings and Brazzers) is adding to Manwin's bottom line.
So what is an ethical porn fan to do?
One option might be to boycott all Manwin-owned sites, but you would need a spreadsheet to keep track of their properties. Moreover, a one-person boycott is meaningless. Given the widespread acceptance of free porn, and GGG's point about the shame/embarrassment associated with porn use, it would be almost impossible to organize an effective boycott.
While I fully support ethical producers within the porn industry, and I would love to see the industry thrive, I am highly skeptical of "Just say no to free porn" as a solution to the problem.
Elsewhere I have advocated for the ethical producers to work together to offer aggregation, search, and recommendation at a reasonable price. This won't solve the problem, but it seems an essential first step.

I don't tend to randomly search; I have all the stores I regularly use bookmarked. When I have searched in the past I used terms like 'adult dvd' (how I found this site, actually). Hand on heart, I have never taken any notice of any search results advertising free material. They may as well have not been there (if indeed they were), as far as I'm concerned.

When it comes to DVDs, I early found out that ordinary mainstream films were dust collective things, mostly put aside after just one watch. It sooner or later would show up on TV also, and was there to rent. Adult DVDs on the other hand often tend to be out of reach nearby, and as in posession, put in a place where dust never comes around. And these things often tend to be very watchable also later on. You may not remember everything that went on, you may have skipped much of it in the first Place for different reasons, just to pick up some surprises further down the road, and like good art, it's there to be enjoyed from time to time, for years on.
The last decade's DVDs from studios like Zero Tolerance, Digital Sin, New Sensations, 3rd Degree, Elegant Angel, Red Light, Evil Angel, Jules Jordan, and also Voyeur Media, Diabolic, Hustler, Reality Kings, Combat Zone can be pretty classy, and stand it's ground and overlive most of what's flowing around in the mainstream, so why the hell not pay for it. Quality never goes out of style, they did not go wrong or spell it wrong, who came up with that message.
If the majority out there can not see the difference, the better value, the better sharpness and the better edge and quality that come with the very best products of these cool companies, people in this forum should be capable of doing so, and may spread the word, instead of turning inwards for second analyze. Then let them who sneaks around picking up things for free, just drift in the dark without those goods, claming things that have no valuable impact at all, so let their attitude and lack of perspective and good taste just fall to the stone ground.

What I find most amusing about the whole debate about paying or not paying for porn debate is the people that go out of their way to tell you that they are paying for porn.
An example will be someone posts a picture of an upcoming release box cover of a hot babe posing seductively on the front. Immediately several people chime in indicating they can't wait for the street date because it's going to be such a hot release that they have to rush right out and "Buy it" or its a "Must Purchase." I equate these claims to purchase a release the same way I react to the service advisor at the local car dealership who starts out his consultation about repairs with the words; "honestly," or "To tell you the truth." My opinion is that they're full of shit.

Context means everything.
When you consider that, when "people that go out of their way to tell you that they are paying for porn" here on ADT, it is almost always in response to a person and/or thread bragging and boasting about how they steal everything and never pay for porn.
What I find "amusing" are the morons who come to ADT to tell everyone they're stealing porn

I was just commenting on how people go out of their way to announce that they are buying porn. Regardless of whether it was in response to the clowns who announce they are downloading free porn or not. But then again, most of the times when someone announces they are downloading illegally the post is edited by a mod with a rebuke saying something along the lines of "you shouldn't announce you're stealing porn on a site where people are trying to make a living selling porn." So, again I'll say I think most of the people who make it a point to preach that they purchase all their porn are slinging bullshit. Not that I'm trying to start a pissing match, but you almost contradict yourself by saying you wouldn't even know how to find free porn yet you search for nude pictures of Bree Olsen or other images to use in posts. Just for shits and giggles I typed in "Bree Olsen nude" on my search engine and the very first thing to pop up are links for illegal content.
If history and scandals have taught us anything, those who preach the loudest on an issue are usually the biggest offenders and have the most to hide.

...but what else are you trying to do? I don't get your point either.

So when the ADT posters who say that they are buying porn cannot be trusted according to your logic, does that mean a) that only the ADT members who never said they would buy porn can be trusted?
Or b) that nobody can be trusted?
Both options would of course imply something for discussions and how valuable those would be (not valuable at all, that is).

Or , most likely , they're giving feedback to encourage the director , the actress or the producers about that kind of content and it's also an invite to say the same to those who like it to substantiate such agreement.
It is also a way to encourage a starlet , you know even the most gorgeous woman on earth likes to be told she's beautiful, she knows it yet she likes to hear that
Anyway, since I am one of those "must buy" , I'm doing this only once , I usually don't do anything that could lead to my identity , these are pictures taken from a corner in my cellar those who have been there might recognize it and me as well.
The covers are reversed , it is my cellar so it's private but still...
Immag0374.jpg
Immag0375.jpg
Some of my latest purchases (I changed this my latest purchases are the two of Filly Film and that old one of Diana Devoe at centre left the others are some covers I reverted again for reference)
Immag0384.jpg previous picture
one more , strategically placed so that you can compare with the images above, plus you may notice another triple column of DVDs on the left , I didn't take a picture of those
Picture removed
To those you have to add all the DVD I store in containers with their covers archived in plastic folders this is one of them
Picture removed and replaced with another I reversed some other covers those below show part of my collection of the Seasoned Players series
Immag0383.jpg Previous picture
and let's not forget some salute
First Salute
a new one
Immag0385.jpg
Also consider that I rotate memberships in some websites and that I rent even more movies than I buy , the very funny thing is that I even haven't seen the most part of those I own either I have not the time/ am not in the mood or they won't escape but for rentals I have to give them back
EDIT It just occurred to me that pictures of full covers with sexual acts shown on them aren't allowed in posts so I replaced them

The amount I've given to the industry since I first started buying porn in the late 80s...Jesus, I wouldn't like to think but it must be in the tens of thousands - seriously (I have a major porn addiction problem, LOL). That being the case, how could anyone begrudge me lifting the occasional image from the Net for use in an ADT post?
One thing I don't do - and have never done - is sit there waiting for specific movies to be released. I think I've only done that for videogames. I didn't realise anyone actually did this for porn - do they?
Oh, and LCF ^ - I think you may be 'going out of your way' to prove you buy your stuff, man . What I don't understand is why you keep the jewel cases. I started ditching them long ago and even specify to the mail order companies I buy from not to send me the jewel cases. At the time of writing I have five lever arch files stuffed to bursting point just with DVD inlays. There is literally no space under my (double) bed 'cause of the several aluminium flight cases full of DVDs I have under there - plus a big box of VHS tapes I can't bring myself to throw out. The upper shelf and floor of my wardrobe are piled high with DVD storage wallets (the upper shelf is actually bowing in the middle) and boxes of magazines. Out in my garage, I have one of those garden storage 'coffins' stuffed to the gills with mags, as well as about six or seven other large boxes of mags...and still I keep on buying. At least I've discovered downloading now - and, yes, I pay for them. I'm already well on the way to filling up one portable HDD. Would dearly love to transfer my entire collection but if I were to work dawn to dusk every day on such a task it would probably take me years...by which time my collection would probably have grown by another coupla thousand movies.

Actually I'm getting rid of the jewel cases but I have to archive them to be able to find the movie I want when I want it. I don't have mags any more , but I own probably more than 3,000 DVDs already I really don't know how many they are, part of my collection is already stored (with covers stored in folders) but I don't have the time I need to do the storage properly.
And about my going well out of my way is due to two things first off I spend an awful lot of money for my porn and when someone possibly sees my claims as a way to hide my pirating I'm disturbed secondly we have a say : Le Chiacchiere stanno a zero. (little chatting count zero) it means that by talking I may say what I want the only thing counting are facts , proofs and I provided just that once and for all

Before digital became popular I would buy a DVD and then download a ripped version as I don't know how to rip DVDs to data. Physical discs just annoy me and too much effort to find the movie and then put it in, keep it hidden etc all that shit.
Reason I buy my movies is simple, I want to support the industry I really enjoy and if people don't pay for their shit it means less hot sluts entering the industry, less variety. I also feel that porn stars deserve to be paid very well for what they do, it takes fucking balls to say to the world "I'm hot enough to fuck on camera for money".
Can you imagine if more people actually paid for their content what the industry would be like?

I prefer physical copies , stored data tend to disappear , either corruption or malfunction or just aging of the hardware , in theory a printed DVD is eternal the data ar part of the shape of the disc they are CARVED on the surface of it, just need proper treatment , but no energy, no limited access , no power unbalance can damage them

LCF, I was referring to an earlier comment made by Roscoe (above) when I said you were 'going out of your way'. Sorry you didn't pick up on that; I'm with you, man, 100%.
Regarding physical vs digital media (for storage), I'm trying to burn a physical copy of each one of my downloads but it's time consuming and the downloads keep piling up so it's a very slow process. I don't know what it is about discs but I just can't let go of 'em. I still think the technology is amazing, I guess. I agree, though, storage is a real headache. I kind of have a system but sometimes a particular disc will be a pain to find.
Have we drifted too far off topic with this...?

My wife sometimes watches with me but almost always ends up ridiculing it. Not viciously but in a dry, understated way which I find even more annoying. What we watch isn't 'couple's porn' (which I absolutely do not do), nor is it Max Hardcore-esque ultra porn. I try to show her something in the 'middle', as it were - I think the last thing we watched was one of the Sineplex 'Gooey Buns' movies. Pretty nasty but still accessible to a particularly broadminded woman, I feel.
I'm sorry to tar all the ADT ladies with the same brush as my missus but I have genuinely never come across (no pun intended) a gal who I felt truly got off on watching non-couples friendly hetero porn. I would really like to meet one (for conversational purposes, of course ).
The impression I've gotten in my forty-odd years of life is that women don't like to feel 'left out' of men's interests. It's like they're afraid of what we might be getting up to behind their backs. I know for a fact my wife is checking out the porn ladies and comparing them to herself (she has nothing to be insecure about though; we've been together nearly two decades and have a child together). Maybe it's just what women do - have to feel they're perpetually in competition with each other.
Anyways, sorry for the further derailment of this thread and apologies to the female ADT members I've inadvertently offended with my misguided views. I know you're all all right on here.
