i honestly dont think space mountain is that great or worth standing in line for an hour. it only goes about 30 mph and still manages to be essentially a whiplash machine. there are so many better, and modernized rides at disneyland, especially on the california adventure side. and i will also remind you that i worked at disney world in orlando for 3 years... so most of that childhood magical memory type stuff has been demystified long long ago. soarin' over california is amazing.
i think it is technically very good, smoothly integrating movement, breeze, sight, smells and temperature. far more advanced than the likes of space mountain or the matterhorn.
I'm surprised that Space Mountain is that slow because I'm into really big, fast rides like the ones at Magic Mountain. I guess it felt much faster to me because it's pretty dark in there & it's hard to see the next turn. I've never been to the California Adventure side, so I know nothing about any of the rides there. The last time I went to Disneyland was about 8 years ago when I was playing tour guide for some relatives from England. Dana, you must have had fun in the beginning getting all those free rides when you used to work there! Did you get free rides the other day for being a former employee? It sounds as if you had a blast on your trip. By the way, what are you shooting at in that pic? Is that one of the attractions on the California Adventure side? The next time I go there I'll check out the Soarin' Over California ride since you liked it so much. What are some of the other ones you like?

Dana - have you been on Space Mountain since 2005? Even though it still goes about 30mph, it feels a lot faster and smoother than it used to, and they've cut down on that whiplash feel a lot (which is why I used to hate the ride). Jordan - I love that ride that is shown in Dana's picture. It's Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. You're shooting at laser targets that are placed on walls, as your car moves on a track through the attraction. At the end, you can email the picture of yourself to your email address. :)
It sounds like fun! Tricia, I clicked on the link you provided and after checking it I know that I would have a Galactic Hero rating on my first try! Just kidding, but I'm sure I would do better than average though. I'm pretty good at that sort of stuff. By the way, I never noticed the whiplash effect on Space Mountain. To me, the ride that has the worst whiplash effect there is the Matterhorn. I remember as a child it was smooth. Then it seemed that after not going there for quite some time, it got horrible, so much so that after trying it the last two times I was there, I won't go on it again. It SUCKS! Guess what I just found out by watching the History Channel? Today in 1955 is when Disneyland opened!! Edited by - jordan1 on 7/17/2008 9:29:09 PM
william hyde... if you are going to be an asshole.. you must share with the entire class. not be a chicken shit and try to tell me how to respond to your shitty comments on myspace. i will respond how i choose and if you dont think my sense of humor is in tact enough for your liking, im sure you can find your way the fuck out.

The only difference between porn performers and "regular people", is that people in porn do all the same shit everyone else does in private, on camera. My comment was meant ironically and in jest... not as an insult. So don't be so fucking defensive, and try working on your sense of humor. Genius. ~ The Dummy

Ya know Dana, I do feel like an asshole. I appologize for not taking into account the injury my remarks might cause. I mean, just because you appear in flicks like "Sperm Receptacles", and "Chocolate Dipped Vanilla Whores"... doesn't mean words like mine can't be hurtful. And even though my comments were meant to be taken as sarcasm, I shouldn't assume that you could deduce that from the printed word. Sarcasm is, afterall, entirely about inflection and tone... and couldn't possibly be inferred otherwise. Dana, you're clearly a very bright girl, and I'm sorry for implying that you have an impaired sense of humor, or are too obtuse to make a distinction between a malicious insult and good natured ribbing. Consider me publicly shamed.
There's a new ride at both California Adventure and Disney's Hollywood Studios that appears to be very similar to Buzz Lightyear (aside form the fact that it's based on the same movie). It's called [ invalid url ]. It's kind of a 3D version of Buzz Lightyear, except rather than laser cannons, you're shooting pop-guns (where you pull and let go of a spring loaded string) that shoots virtual objects in 3D. Rather than shooting at targets through the ride, you're playing Midway games, such as ring toss or shooting balloons. From what I've read, it sounds like a lot of fun. I'm heading to Disney World next month and am looking forward to Midway Mania.

Deep meditiation before you go to your mrtial arts training session with Master Splinter to fight his sworn nemesis and killer of his master Hamato Yoshi, the Shredder?
"o hai.." If that is a Troy McClure reference my love for Dana just increased 10fold. Yes her bum is outstanding and her scenes are fantastic but use of favorite character catch phrases takes love to a whole new level.
