| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | We've finally added the ability to embed images into your forum posts. The new system also can be used for review screenshots. Here's a brief tutorial on how to use the new system. All images must be uploaded to our servers in order to be included in your forum posts. We do not allow hotlinking of images from other sites. (We hate when people do this to us and choose not to do it to others.) There are two ways to upload an image for use in your posts: 1) quick upload from forum posting page or 2) from your Profile->Images->Files and Folders Method 1: Quick Upload from in the forum Below the box you type your posts there's an "Upload Image" button. Click it and an upload window will pop up. Choose a file stored on your computer and click the Upload button. Wait for the upload to complete and when it's done there's some forum code that appears above your image. Copy/paste the [ img=xxxxxxxx] tag to your forum post to include the image in your post. Method 2: Upload from Forum Profile Go to your profile, click the Images tab. At the top of the page there's a Files and Folders link. Click it. This brings up a page where you can manage your personal file space on our servers. There are two image upload options available from your profile: The Quickie Image Uploader automatically places images in the Quick Uploads folder so you can find them easily. You can move them if you want to. The Quickie uploader is primarily intended for forum posts. It will shrink images to be 600 pixels wide or less. The Multiple Image Uploader will allow you to upload one to five images at a time. This image uploader will shrink large images to a maximum width of 1024 pixels. It also allows you to create a new folder and place the uploaded files into it, or to upload the images to an existing folder. From the Files and Folders page you can organize your filespace, create folders, move files between folders. You can also get the image tag code and details on your files by clicking the filename in the left navigation tree. There are certain actions you can take to modify your files and images. At the moment only Delete, Move and Rename are available. Soon we'll add Shrink, Rotate, Create-Thumbnail and Watermark-Image. PLEASE ADHERE TO THE POSTED IMAGE POLICY. If you don't we'll turn off your ability to upload images. The new image tags are:

The details about the image will appear on the right side of the page. Look for the HTML Code for Reviews section. Copy/paste that full HTML image tag to your review. |

| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | Often, when people first start using the new system they upload the same file three to seven times in a row before they figure out that the upload worked the first time. What can I do to make it more obvious that the image made it? |

| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | You'll see the washed-out and branded images if you haven't been through our entrance page with that browser in the past 24 hours. That's the only thing that will cause this to happen. What you're seeing is an anti-leeching mechanism. Our server thinks you're hot-linking to the images since your browser isn't sending the entrance page cookie. The server software is written to handle all of this on the fly so people stealing our bandwidth get crappy image quality with the site name plastered across it. The crappy image quality saves tons of bandwidth too. |
| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | In case you're not familiar with the term hotlinking, it's when someone uses an image hosted on our server on another site. It's usually accomplished by including a direct link like this or by using an HTML IMG tag that pulls the image from our end. Since you most likely went through the entrance page if you're reading this the sample link should take you to the full-sized, correct (not washed-out) image. If someone followed that link from another website and hadn't been through our entrance page we'd detect them as a leech and display the crappy version of the image. |

| Porn Scout Deactivated User 3735 Posts 10/02 | Yeah, that one got uploaded but it didn't get posted. I don't think anything I've actually posted has violated guidelines. Sometimes when I'm uploading I hit the wrong file name. If I see it's the wrong image, I don't post it. It honestly never occurred to me that the offending images were a problem if they weren't actually posted. I didn't even think about the images being stored in the database somewhere. If there was a problem, it would have been nice to get an email first. I'm not stupid and I'm not some asshole newbie trying to get you guys shut down or fined or thrown in jail or whatever. But it's your sandbox. |
| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | We don't police the forum to see if images are posted here. If you upload something to our server it could be used in a page or linked to from a page elsewhere on the internet. The only reliable way to handle the image admin duties is at the file level not at the forum level. I'll reinstate your upload ability but please refrain from uploading anything that doesn't comply even if you don't intend to use it in a forum post, user profile or movie review. Just so everyone is aware. We have administrative pages that make it easy for us to review and approve all files uploaded to our servers. This review process typically happens within 8 - 24 hours after you upload something. Uploaded images are visible on the site during this waiting period but they may subsequently end up being deleted upon review. We keep track of how many uploaded images have been deemed unacceptable for each user. If someone uploads two or more images that don't comply with the posted image policy we disable their file upload capabilities. We don't email or notify users that their images were unacceptable prior to deactivating their upload access. (Maybe we should notify them?) As a rule of thumb, don't upload anything that doesn't meet our Acceptable Image Policy. If you accidentally do upload something that doesn't comply please delete it before we get around to reviewing it. You can view your uploaded files in your Files and Folders area in your ADT profile. |

Like if the post said "check out this album cover" with a picture of it found below after I deleted the picture would my ADT post say "check out this album cover" except for a picture something like "image deleted by poster". I haven't had to delete any pictures, I am just curious about how it would look if I had. Thanks. |

This gives the pictures a chance to be reviewed and approved (and you can always check the image manager in your profile to see if they've been reviewed or not before submitting the review). It also not only lets your review appear as you plan for it to appear (along with letting you preview the review as it should appear), but also lets Steph or Drew avoid people bugging them about updating reviews later. They have enough to do already without having to go back and fix stupid mistakes. "I do not as a rule seek advice about food from thin people..." - Jeffrey Steingarten |

| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | Example: There's an image above in this thread that's at //img1-ps.adultdvdtalk.com/2a044e71b5c447daa9 This converts to an image tag of [ img=2a044e71b5c447daa9] (without the space before "img"). |
