I don't expect the people who come up with this sort of fare to be the smartest or most thoughtful people in the world. In fact, we're only playing into their obvious ignorance by even talking about this title or bringing more attention to it. I love the people who make the argument that porn has much worse titles that disparage all women. I love the people who say that black people call themselves the n-word all the time. What these people fail to mention or simply don't understand is that there's a big difference between a person self-applying a title (for instance, a woman can call herself a "bitch" but you better not call her one, so citing a rap group like N.W.A for calling themselves "niggaz" doesn't really apply. Just because one calls themselves something doesn't mean YOU can) and that words like "whore", "slut" and the like are far from hundred years old hurtful racial slurs. When you make those sorts of arguments all it shows me is that you can't differentiate or understand that there are varying degrees of bad taste; that you can't take a racial slur and put it on the same level as a simple insult like "stupid" because they're both "just words." If you can't make the distinction, regardless of how you feel things should be in the world, then you don't really deserve to make a comment here. All that said, this discussion's been had here. We went in circles about "Slant-Eyed Sluts." The same thing for "Sack The Wetback." Neither of those had the n-word in the title but I was equally offended and derided both and I'm not Asian or Latino. Because I possess the racial sensitivity (and maybe that comes from being black and/or raised to be more tolerant, who knows?) to understand how those words would be hurtful and offensive to someone who was. And that's really what it's all about. Were I in the porn business, I honestly would not produce, stand behind or in any way be associated with a title like "I Heart Screwing Spics" or "Cumming on Kikes." Not only does it show a lack of creativity and an even larger lack of respect for your consumers but there's simply no need for it and regardless of ones intentions, they should know better. You can say it's just a joke or for humor's sake and that we should all lighten up. You could say that you're trying to take away the negative power of those words. But those same people who claim such lofty ambitions will also say in the very next breath that "it's just porn." So make up your mind. Don't act like you're trying to save the world on one hand when it's painfully obvious that all you're really trying to do is drum up enough sensationalistic and trashy interest to make a fast buck on the other. I was upset when I heard about it the first time and called a couple of my friends who were black and asked them what their personal feeling was. One told me that he didn't like it, the other said he was desensitized to it. John and I had talked about it, and went back and forth a couple times between whether or not he was going to ask the director to edit the word out. In the end, in both cases that we were aware of, he watched the scene, and the overall tone of the scene was the girl being into the guy and the guy was the dominant character in the scene. The director said that the girl said it on her own, and that the guy hadn't voiced a problem with it. So John agreed to let it stay in the scene. I remember calling my friend who said he'd be upset if he heard it in a scene, and telling him that I was upset and embarassed and I told him that I was sorry. If John had asked me to write a press release on either of the movies, I would have told him that I respect that he's my boss, but that I wouldn't be able to and would have asked him to have someone else at the company write a press release about the movie.
