Romance and tender loving is a couples-appeal kind of thing and that's not my kind of porn. I'm more into the Rodney Moore and Max Hardcore stuff. I mean if I want romance I will watch a Zalman King movie.

Max hardcore. Sorry dude but that stuff is whack to me. I mean the girls look like seventh graders. I'll stick with hot babes being sultry with one another by tit licking, pussy licking and feet foreplaying.

for the gonzo sector wouldnt be bad at all..then you dont have to listen all the time " OH YEAH UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OHHHHHHHHHH AHHHH FUCK MEEEEEEEEEE , YEAHHHHHHHH FUCKKKKKKKKKKK MEEEEEEEEEEEEE " with distorted faces
but it seems hard, physical, sweaty porn is not doable on this way
Over time, my opinion about this have evolved, to the point where I now believe that even if you had two sexy, oscar-winning actors ready to fuck on your porn set, you still wouldn't get loving-caring-romantic-good chemistry sex.
I think a large share of the problem lies behind the camera, and larger still back in the business office. By and large, the business of porn just isn't set up to produce this kind of sex.
Actually, most of the scenes I've watched with real life couples I've found the chemistry and action to lack. There's exceptions, of course, but not a lot of them.
I also agree with what Pagoda said about the subject. You can have romance and still love her rough...
"Vegetarianism for me is about saying ‘yes’ to things - even meat." - Coupling
Case in point: Julian and Jill Kelly. Their scenes together during their marriage were total snooze-fests, even more so in features that were supposed love stories.
Another case in point: Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan. They can be kinda boring one-on-one. Except when they add additional partners. They really click on screen when Voodoo's encouraging Nicole to bang somebody else, always in a loving, gentle voice. In those types of scenes, you can it in his eyes when he watches her with another man; when he's somewhat removed from her. And vice versa. (Who knows, they probably aren't a couple anymore, but they've had some good, romantic three-ways.)
I'd think that some porn couples would be protective of their private feelings on camera. They might consciously hold back, trying to make the scene porn-y.
It is misleading. I'd never have considered that title as a possibility. Because you posted it here, I just looked up some reviews. I'll probably love this, and it's 2nd installment.

To elaborate on my first post, romantic moments happen all the time, even in rough gonzo porn. But you only see them if the camera captures the performers in their entirety.
You have to be able to see that she's got her leg wrapped around his ass. You have to see that he's running his hands up and down her back. You have to see that they're kissing, or whispering to each other. Trouble is, most gonzo is largely full of close penetration shots.
And when it's not, it's all about showcasing the girl's body as much as possible. In order to get those angles, the male and female have to keep some distance between them. That's not very romantic. And if there's some unspoken stuff going on in their eyes, you'll only see the girl's face, and that's if you're lucky. The guy's whole head is usually out of frame.
The transitions from position to position are usually cut, and that's when a lot of performers let their guard down and connect non-physically. The little mistakes that make these performers people are usually cut, too. There's plenty of chemistry flying back and forth on gonzo sets. We just don't see it very often.
With any kind of acting performance, it's the unexpected; the accident that usually makes the magic happen. If the guy's cock slips out and they have a laugh about it, I want to see that. I don't want that cut out. That's what gives it that hint of romance; the fact that they laughed about it together. See what I mean?
Damn... Pagoda must have a direct contact with my mind. She has just written what I exactly wanted to say.
Romance. This is a very special word, which can not easily be defined even in real life. Although I personally believe that romance is a strict private experience, maybe some elements which consist it like beautifulness, tenderness, sensuality, sponteinity, chemistry and passion can be possibly shown in adult movies.
However, there are a lot of things that an adult director should consider to accomplish. The performers' erotic experience and behavior, especially the male ones, are very important for the succesfull set up of such a scene. Also, the genuine chemistry between the participants helps them to express their erotic feelings.
On the other hand, passion, a cruicial element of a "romantic" scene, often leads to intensity and to even more hardcore acts. Some slight nasty, enticing, dirty, spicy activities and of course a generous dose of impulsiveness are the basic ingredients of a hot evolved intimate coupling.
There are some people in the gonzo industry that make a big fun of that word's meaning. However I have spotted large number of erotic details in certain hardcore gonzo scenes which made them a lot more sensual than many of the traditional couple oriented feature movies. (Trust me, my girlfriend gloriously discovered it lately)
However I can honestly tell you that even the most extreme sexual action such as for exapmle a hard hole stretching DP, can be so sensually performed and captured, that may very well claim this rather uncommon, for this particular case, adjective.
My humble opinion folks is that the best porn lies somewhere in the middle. Between beautifulness, sensuality, nastiness and intensiveness. If an adult director is so capable of mastering those elements, mixing them harmonically, then the result is a masterpiece of pornography and not only...
juha: It's not rough at all, but there's lots of kissing, eye contact, holding and ear whispering in every scene. It's in the same vein as Steve Holmes' Anal Romance.
Then some of the most hardcore gonzo movies can have some of the most passionate and romantic scenes, like Michael Stefano and Dillan Lauren in Baker's Dozen or Steve Holmes and Christie Lee in Anal Cum Addicts. I think it's very hard to find genuinly horny couples in couples movies.
Well I actually meant for me romance and tender stuff is not what I consider hardcore gonzo, for me that's couples-appeal, like the Vivid and Wicked kind of movies. But then again how can you consider porn romantic when the people involved are only there for the money? I think we have to seperate these things and shouldn't romantasize porn too much.
ass attack is 100% one on one,100% anal and 100% chemistry between performers. i just wanted to shoot scenes where u can tell that the performers are into each other. manuel
Ahhh, I was just talking about you today. Shoot me an email if you have time. No, I'm not going to ask you to take a strap-on. :0) devinn@devinnlane.com
In feature porn, the female performers portray nymphomaniac vampires, doctors, secretaries or lovers. In gonzo porn, they portray nymphomaniac porn chicks. In both cases, they are acting.
I don't necessarily always agree with your tastes or specific opinions, Pagoda -- & that's not what a board is supposed to be about, anyway -- so I'm not kissing your butt when I say that this post is absolutely brilliant in both content & expression:
"To elaborate on my first post, romantic moments happen all the time, even in rough gonzo porn. But you only see them if the camera captures the performers in their entirety.

The only thing I'd point out is that for a large segment of the audience, they don't WANT to see any more of the guy than they have to, & tend to actively resent if he betrays a rapport with his partner that betrays any real tenderness or exaltation. Not that I'm defending them; I'm 1000-percent on your side on this one!

That's a horrible thing to say. I don't think that porn belongs in the gutter. I think it is deserving of the same respect as any art form. The gutter ideology is what makes pornographers refer to talent as 'whores'; I hate it with a passion. I deeply respect the girls because there would be nothing to sell without them. I do think that there needs to be a golden era renaissance where everything is shot on film and with care.
Sounds fantastic. I'm checking it out in the price search in another tab right now just because of this post. If only more directors would have this kind of desire for their shoots...

Do you think titling this effort Ass Attack make it easier or harder for fans of romantic, tender, loving, high-chemistry sex to find their way to your work?

This is an awesome statement, Pagoda!*
In my opinion, romance doesn't have much to do with low amounts of nastiness assigned to specific sex acts. Both softcore and hardcore porn can be either romantic or not. I prefer the romantic stuff in both version. Let's have a look at two exaggerated scenarios.
Example for non-romantic softcore action:
Director: "Okay, kiss her... more passion... okay, that's good enough, thank you. On to the nipple-licking part... cut! Not the right tit, fuck! Didn't you read the script? Licks left tit's nipple for 15 1/2 seconds , that's what it says. Got it? And action! Now turn your head a little so we can see that nipple. That's it. Moans in 5 seconds... 2, 1, ... cut! Fucking no! How often do I have to tell you we make porn for lonesome underclass housewives? Please tell me you don't really think they stroke it to moans in fucking F sharp minor! They don't even know wtf that is! But time's almost up, so we gotta work with what we have. Cunnilingus is cancelled." Girl: "Great, where's my check?"
Example for romantic hardcore action:
Girl 1: "Damn, this feels so fucking good! I want your cock in my ass!" Guy, whispering in her ear: "But didn't you say you don't do anal?" Girl 1: "Yes, that's what I said and now I say fuck my ass!" Girl 1 to Girl 2, a few minutes later, ecstatic: "I want you to squirt in my fucking gape!" Girl 2, surprised and laughing, genuinely aroused, strokes her pussy and squirts into Girl 1's gape. Then she sucks her own juices outta there with a straw she had spontaneously taken to the set.
Um... okay... maybe these scenarios are not altogether realistic but I think you know where I come from, and I don't mean my piss hole.
*Fine print: To be more correct, your statement matches with my perception which makes it an awesome statement for me personally. But it'll be a generally acknowledged awesome statement as soon as I find proof my point of view is the best no matter what.
I don't want romance exactly. I just want to know that the actors are into each other. I have seen too many films where the actors look like they can't wait to leave.
Most of the time, I equate romance with personalization. If the performers somehow demonstrate some humanity to one another, I think it's romantic. This can be accomplished by performers by just changing a couple words. For example:
Female porn-y: Give me that big cock. Female romantic: Give me your big cock.
Male porn-y: This is a great ass. Male romantic: You have a great ass.
They can talk as frankly and nasty as they want. If they personalize it, even slightly, it takes on an intimate tone.
"Are you my little whore?" "I'm your little whore."
See?
Also note that romantic gestures last a split-second. That's true in life, too. You have to be open, and recognize them when you see them.
