Problem is, the dreaded Raincoater drives the porn market. He spends thousands per year, and "Pirates" ain't on his shopping list. Stars? Considering that there seems to be a fair amount of tongue in cheek in his comment, not really. There are also plenty of women in the industry who don't at all mind being called whores, and many of them turn out some fantastic scenes. Do I like seeing women called whores? No, but that's some of the double standard in the adult industry.

Well, I am confused now and have a moral dilemma. I didn't like EE's sign off and thought it and his whole comment were very sarcastic, flippant and disrespectful to the women in porn. After seeing that post and having Jane see it, I was ready to put him on the dicknjane director shit list. But, I looked at how dicknjane graded the 9 videos of Erik's we saw last year and every one got A's. Erik is one of only a handful of directors we gave straight A's to last year for their porn videos that we have seen. The grading system is very subjective, but is supposed to indicate our perception of whether its erotic or not ... turns us on or turns us off. The funny thing is that Manuel Ferrara's videos got very poor grades on the dicknjane ometer and we think Manuel loves and respects women, but evidently his videos don't come across that way and Erik's do. Go figure. Well, figuring out who is "romantic" and who is doing "romance in gonzo" is clearly an art not a science. Chances are if you tried to explain all this to a non-pervert, they would think you had lost your marbles.

It's funny how the industry took away bukkake from JAV but none of the other elements. First and foremost, I wish we would take the single girl approach they have. The girl on the cover is in every scene with different guys. Let's face it, we all develop favorites. I don't like having to rent 5 movies to see 5 Dani Woodward or Sunny Lane scenes, so it would be awesome to get one movie knowing it featured just that girl from start to finish.
Second, their movies do more to build the personality of the girls because they do interviews and talk about themselves, including fantasies, which they then act out. Or the girls do some silly cosplay or roleplaying that leads to a scene (fantasizing about fucking her teacher, her boss, etc).
See, I don't think that could happen because it requires something as rare as an untrimmed bush in porn: CREATIVITY! Back in the 1980s we had comedies like WPINK-TV. It was silly but at least it was funny. I don't think the industry has that sort of silly creativity in it any more.

Thing is Steve, the word isn't used as a descriptive but as a perjorative. It's use is often a reflection of the rotten attitude displayed toward the women in the business, all of them.

Is she getting "it" done "to her" or "with her". Some directors get this and modify the learned, habitual sexual behaviors of porn stars ever so slightly to change the tone of words or actions. For example, in "Sex with Young Girls 7" Mr. Pete slapped Brandy Nichole's tits so hard he knocked the tit ring off her right tit ... that was a turn off. But in Holly Randall's "The Young and the Raunchy" his light tit slapping of Taylor Rain was called "tit play" and appeared friendlier to me. I think directors set the tone for these subtle changes that make such a big difference in what we each perceive about the "romance in a porn scene".

True, but that's because they put all kinds of silliness in there. Goofy clowning around or interviews with the girls. That's fine with me, really, I wouldn't mind hearing from a girl if she's funny and has charisma or has something amusing to say.

So now I have questions for you. As a director, what's your casting process? How do you decide on scene pairings? I know you have a very sex-positive attitude on set (and you're a hands-on kinda gal), so I'm sure that contributes. Are there certain things you can do as a director to promote that "spark" between the talent? Like say, have a longer shooting day so they don't feel rushed, or have a closed set, etc? How do you generate chemistry? To me, it seems like it would be impossible to predict.
