Nature does put you in a certain category actually..Only have to do is to put a caucasian a black an asian and a latino person side by side..You will see difference between them not only skin wise but in eye shape , lips , body structure , hair etc..Race is not invented by humans to show superiority over others rather to give people an easiest way to describe each other..Everybody can be smart , athletic , beautiful , tall and it has nothing to do with race and the colour of your skin..In the end we are ALL equal but we are not the same this is a scientific fact..And IMHO that is the beauty of it..
the scientific fact is that human races don't exist. Like I've said before, Obama has a white mother, german and irish ancestors and he's a black man who looks in everything like a black man. Skin color is not race.
Hugo Bass, you are right, the color of skin is the most unimportant thing concerning a human being or individual. For a society it is much more important to have a commen sensse, the same rules in living together, to share, use and respect them for a peaceful cohabitation so to speak. And for me personally important is always the way of thinking, common values, views, opiniions. The rest is trivial. Height, weight, age, education, skills etc.so the whole discussion goes a little bit wrong. Equal rights for all, that's the rest is.......
By the way, I also find it out, that IAFD was quickly this time and deleted all signs concernig IR. What I ask myself what about Dogfarts, Black people are in the spotlight, male on white female. They must delete it all or rename all existing movies. That would be ridiculous. IR deleting I would agree more or less. But the rest....I think in the moment the adult industry is destroying itself cause of external pressure. It is a pitty. That has nothing to do with "equal rights, treatment, payment" for colored performers.
I don't mind Obama identifying as black my problem is why can't a biracial person ever be allowed to identify as white? Ever. I find it offensive that biracial people are always put in front as representatives of black people. Obama was the first biracial President. Simple as that. There has not been a black President yet. His father wasn't even an ADOS (African American Descendent of the Slave trade).
Another well written post. I think that the general consensus here is that the genre "IR" is very popular, across all races, especially black males who watch porn.

^^In other words, Honey Gold's "solution" is that I and other people who want to see black men have sex with non-black women should have to scroll through a bunch of scenes costarring white Hispanic men first.

I really don't think that IAFD and the "Eliminate the IR category" crowd give a damn that many black men find the IR tag helpful. The stereotype that only evil white racists place a special value on IR scenes is laughable.
Oh course they don't have a problem with it, because its a non issue really. I'm not referring to truly racist behavior, but most perceived racial issues, operative word "perceived," are initiated by white people as a way for them to feel good about themselves. One has to look no further than the term "N word." I don't recall ever hearing someone who's black say that term.
Obama was the first biracial President. Simple as that.
Obama was a black president, there's no such a thing like "biracial", and you don't realize that racism is based exactly on the idea of different races. Read the article I've posted above.
Mike Hawk I would totally agree with you. The whole stuff came from white people, often younger naive people etc., I am from Germany and here is the sam concering ayslum problems, Climat change et cetera. The level of discussions is often more then beneath contempt or really lousy.
Why are you offended that Obama will always be considered black and not biracial? I haven't heard of any black person being offended that he's considered black and not biracial. If anyone should be offended, it should be him and I'm sure he's not losing too much sleep as he married a black women and will always be known as the first black President based on the based on the established racial standards set long ago by white politicians.
The same rational could be applied to porn performers. As an example, a straight guy going "gay for pay" will always be stigmatized by the term "crossover" not matter what he says, does, dates, marries, etc etc. Female performers OTOH get off scot free by claiming to be genderfluid as its socially acceptable in the porn world.
Personally, I feel removing the "IR" tag from their database is going to be an annoyance more than anything else as it'll take longer to search for something one will be looking for.

Companies must consider their black customers. As a black man, I normally do not seek interracial porn due to the racial themes and hip hop culture. However, I understand other black men (customers) may seek interracial porn. They will use the term interracial or IR when seeking that type of content.
I think the main issue is the type of content in interracial movies. Look at DickDrainers. They film very racist videos. One of their videos feature a black guy who is turned on by his racist employer, who calls him the N word. I do not have any black friends (I'm black) who would want their lover to call them the N word especially during sex.
I've recently seen a profile on twitter of this white woman who was using offensive and very racist comments. I was tempted to reply but then I saw that she was just providing what guys (clearly black guys) were asking for. I had never seen anything like that before, but it seems that it's a thing. After all with all the fetishes out there of men and women who like to be humiliated and degraded in every possible way it should not surprise me. Dickdrainers by the way is the site of the same black guy who often performs in it with the balaclava. And he's usually quite dominant so I would not be surprised if the scenes your saying are based on his revenge on racist (for the scene) women.

Companies should respect customers because we are the viewers. Consent between performers is very important. The black guy may have consented to the model to call him the N word because he is an Uncle Tom. However, it is still very disrespectful and a slap to the face to customers. We buy their product and should have been considered before saying such a degrading word. This is one of the many reasons why I as a black man do not watch most interracial porn. I may have two or three in my hard drive, and I've been buying porn for over 10 years online.
Leatherface, I have no idea from which video or kind of movies, studio you are talking about, dick....I don't know please call me a brand or studio, would like to see for understanding. Thanks
Considering that he owns the site, I suspect that more than he didn't consented, he actually instructed her to talk like that. So (like with a lot of porn) there's a big area where it's hard to tell what is right or wrong. For instance a lot of people think that rough sex with humiliations and degration is basically something that could be compared to rape and real abuse, without realizing that there are men and women who like that kind of treatment. There are tons of guys into "financial domination" and blackmailing who just give money to models for literally nothing at all, or even ask to models to reveal to their families what they are doing giving them the phone numbers of their wives and things like that. There are girls who love to be slapped and whipped and there are guys who like to be kicked in their balls and much more painful things. And THEY are those who ask for those things. So while I'm absolutely against racism, if I see in porn a woman who use the N word (especially after I saw that profile I said) I wonder if it's real racism or just raceplay. Which could be something simply requested by the supposedly offended person.

Race play is racism. It disrespects and degrades the customer. What I mean by consent is the models and directors agreeing to do a sexual act. He may have directed a model to say the N. She consented to do it because she said it. Pornstars/models have the right to say no to saying a racial slur. I recall Rachel Starr saying she did not do IR because the racial themes offended her and did not represent her sexuality. She made that comment at the old Brazzers community that is no longer online.
Porn is different from mainstream media. A jerk in a movie by Fox may say the N word because he is villain in the movie. Porn on the other hand is meant to sexually entertain the customer. Saying the N word is not sexually entertaining but insulting the customer. Do you hear racial slurs about other races in porn? It's very rare.
Hopefully this will lead to AVN removing Riley Reid from the hall of fame.
Why should she be removed? The past can't be changed, but changes can be made in the present for the future.

I think that's a mistake. Porn has never been about any type of political correctness. It's about people seeing their primal sexual urges enacted. I'm a black man and I don't look for IR porn in particular, but I am in no way offended if someone else does. I appreciate that even a porn database is getting into the spirit of things and looking to make positive changes in the world, but I believe they are hurting their users with this unnecessary move. In a word, this is a change that no one asked for or cares about.
I am offended because it permeates the notion that to succeed at the highest level's in the America one must have a white or at least one non black parent. Biracial's have long been paraded as the face of African America. Jay Z in one of his lyrics once said "Obama's half white so in a racist's mind he's half right."
Biracial activist and actress Amandla Sandberg turned down a role in the Black Panther movie because she understood society's covert "light skin" and "bi racial" privilege. Tiger Woods, Zoe Saldana and many other biracials bemoan the "black" label.
Obama was great but we have yet to have a President of the ADOS (African American Descendent of the Slave Trade) distinction.
There is a successful website owned and run by black men called Dickdrainers. They make the actress use the "N" word a lot of the time in their scenes. I'm not a fan but if the black performer, producer is happy with it I say live and let live.
Rachel Starr's comment is full of shit. There is hardly any dialouge in porn. She could have worked with a black actor under a numouros set of scenarios that would not have emphasised race. She is a marquee ir dodger.

What a load of drivel, I hope you realise you and whoever else hold these views are in the minority, Christ, it's honestly not that deep dude.
Anyway, from my experience as a black person, mixed race people virtually always identify as black and that's the conventional wisdom - if you have enough pigment to the point that you can't pass for caucasian, you aren't considered white by anyone, don't kid yourself with this "half-white" nonsense. Someone like Meghan Markle can pass for white, but Obama and Tiger Woods etc. could never. Mixed people appear to be in a special case that their pigment also decides their "race" (which doesn't exist but whatever).

Anyway, on topic...
As a black person, I'm glad the IR tag is gone because it was a misnomer and essentially acted as a proxy for "black" and not actual meaning of the word. It's discriminatory to inaccurately identify just one group of people with that tag - unless you believe the only "races" that exists are black and non-black. Either label every true interracial scene (i.e. including other "races" such as Asians etc.) with the tag 'IR' or don't do it at all.
--
Finally, to the people complaining that 'this won't solve racism/racist practices' and 'it makes it more difficult to find what I like' etc.
You are missing the point and it is painful to read.
First of all, no one ever claimed one action would solve a problem this huge in society. But, if something is not right, small steps towards the correct path helps. It's essentially like claiming that because we can't outright cure some cancers that we should not be trying to discover medications that can improve the remission period of patients affected by those diseases - it isn't all or nothing.
Next, I find the whole 'inconvenience to finding my porn' thing truly risible. You're so blinded by your love of porn you don't see what a ridiculous statement it is to make in the face of everything that's happening. When people were fighting for civil rights, was it not an inconvenience for them to be out protesting and so forth rather sitting safely at home? You're opposed to this change solely because it could make things slightly more difficult for you and for no other reason - you don't care that it is the right thing.
It is my hope the whole industry follows suit and maybe this can lead to something bigger with time.
I think you're applying your own point of view here. Of course raceplay is based on racism (or better, a representation of it). But what if the customer is a black guy who request that kind of content. Would you consider him disrespected if HE is asking for that content? A thing that like I've said above, seems perfectly possible. Rough sex is often based on violence to a certain degree. What if the sex is consensual and the performers and customers enjoy it. Is a man who like to be kicked in his balls and pays for it disrespected if he just has what he ask for? We could not understand the appeal of those things, but still there are people who for some reason like that stuff.
And I think that Riley Reid considering how many scenes she has done with black performers and the passion she puts in those scenes absolutely loves black men.
It is not non-sense. A person who is half of any race can say they are both races. I would personally claim both races as that is my right. Obama is a black and white man.
Nobody decides or changes a person's race. Being half-white is not non-sense. It is a fact regardless of a person's skin tone.
I can respect your point of view and if this was a real world thing happening where a government agency was using the term to single out black people for whatever reason, I'd agree with it. However, since it's term used in the un-PC world of porn used to identify a specific type of pairing I don't see a problem with it. It simply isn't an offense term. It's one of those things that is only as offensive as a person chooses to view it. If you're the type of person that believes black people (or races) should never be singled out then I see where a person would want that. For people who don't see a problem an identifying term/tag for a specific thing, they have a point also. But I understand the people who say that IR isn't/shouldn't be limited to blacks having sex with "whites" so I think labelling sex between various races/minorities would be much more of the right/correct thing to do if a change is to be made. It would bring the term in line with how it's used outside of porn and still make it easy for those seeking that type of thing out easy to find.
Matter of opinion without any hard data to back it up but I really don't think the majority of people think there's anything wrong or offensive with the term interracial. And of those who do have a problem with it a lot of those don't like that it's only used to specify black and "white" pairings in porn. So for many of those people it's seen more as an inaccurate term more than offensive one. If entities that are making this change said they're going to censor/ban titles that people find truly offensive like the old porn titles "Blackzilla" and "Thicka than a **gga" (or whatever) I'd say that was useful/positive change that has an impact. So while some may see this move as "small steps toward the correct path". I personally don't see it doing anything other than making it harder for people seeking out a specific thing and little else. If this move didn't have didn't make it harder for people to find what they like and wasn't a claim by some to do their part to correcting a problem I would be fine with it. I just don't find this move correcting a problem or making things better. No one has said anything to change my mind and they probably never will because I just don't find the term as offensive in this context. I also don't see how the trem not being used will make it things any better for those experiencing real actual problems in the industry.
The people who fight for civil rights are and have fought things that truly make a difference for the betterment of people of color. Equality, respect, freedom and such. Not to eliminate non-offsensive names.
This is my take. This is where I'm coming from. You won't agree. That's fine. Just offering up a take from the perspective of a person that doesn't see this as a positive or helpful.
I don't get the appeal of having a white girl use the "N" word in porn scenes. I think it's pretty stupid actually. But then I feel the same about the black people who insist on constantly using the word and the rap songs that overuse the word because they seem to thik it makes the rap somehow more edgy. I kinda have a double standard on this subject. I would be pretty offended if a major studio had performers use the "N" word or used overly offensive names for their scenes/DVDs. I don't think any "mainstream" porn should do this. Their stuff is seen and consumed by the masses and shouldn't have content that some might find overly offensive. However, in the case of Dickdrainers I think a different standard applies. As far as I know Dickdrainers is just a guy with a niche product that is off to the side and you probably won't stumble across it unless you're specifically seeking that kind of thing out. Plus, once you find it it's clearly marked and marketed as the "offensive" content it is. So if anyone is offended by it they went out of their way to be offended.
As far as the girls who appear in those scenes and say the word...not every girl who appears in his scenes say the word. For the ones that do I assume most people realise this in fantasy and role playing and it doesn't mean they are racist in real life or toss out the word every few minutes (one would hope anyway...). The "N' word is a problem on many levels. I prefer if the word went away but too many black people insist on keeping it alive. And the word is used by some blacks to express many emotions and contexts. I've heard it used as a source of pride. As an insult. As a friendly gesture. As indentification. As a racist slur. I've heard white people use the word and I have absolutely no problem with their use. I've also heard white people use it and found it highly offensive. It's become a word that is used in so many different ways with so many different interpretations behind it it's become one of those words that has become just what the individual wants it to be. Sometimes using the word is racist. Sometimes using the word isn't.
I recently heard Riley Reid answer the question of what performers she enjoys working with the most and she said Isiah Maxwell (SP?). When asked what was her favorite scene of all to shoot she named the BLACKEDRAW gangbang scene. I also beileve Riley was/is one of the girls who thought it wrong to charge more for an IR scene. I've never met Riley personally but I've watched many of her Youtube vidoes, seen how she interacts when she posts here, seen her in interviews, and seen her Behind The Scenes stuff. I think Riley is a girl with a huge heart, fun, and not racist in the least. If she used the "N" word it was because she doesn't see it as offensive as some might because she's probably been around blacks that always use the word in a what they see as a non-offensive way and she was told to say it. Others won't see it that way but I feel more than comfortable defending Riley. Context, context, context.

You misrepresent my point, re-read what I said. I never claimed they weren't half-white or that they weren't entitled to claim it - I said it's nonsense because...
People do decide a person's race - the fact is "race" is a societal construct and if your appearance isn't congruent with the race you claim, you won't be treated like it. A mixed but white-looking person can't claim to be black and genuinely expect to be treated as such without appearing utterly ridiculous (and vice-versa with black-looking). At the end of the day, as I said, if you're mixed and have enough pigment to not look white, you're by default treated as black by society, irrespective of what you may personally claim - no one will ever call/treat you white. If you disagree then your experience widely differs from mine (and I'd argue the consensus) - the media, police, employers etc. treat them black and that isn't going to change because of what they personally claim. For instance, society has clearly decided Obama is black, I've hitherto never seen him referred to as anything else. Sure, some pedantic people, like yourselves, may disagree but it isn't up to the minority to decide and you'll always be fighting a losing battle.
Anyway, that's the last I'm saying on it - it's not what this thread is about.

I did not misrepresent your statement. You said it is "half-white non-sense". If somebody is half white then they can claim it. It does not matter what a person looks like. If a person's mother is white and father is black, then that person can claim white and black. People do not decide your race. A person's race is determined at birth from the race of both parents. I don't care how dark Obama may be. He claim both races from his background if he wants to.
I don't care if society only refers to Obama as black. The fact of the matter is he white and black. I am not disagreeing he is black. I am a state the fact of him being a member of two races. The majority of whites may not see him as white. He is half-white for having a white parent. That is a fact. Nobody decides he is only black.

You clearly lack reading comprehension so I am not just going to regurgitate what I just posted. I didn't say Obama can't claim to be white - one claim whatever they wish, but if they don't look like it, you're as good as not it, so it is "nonsense." You can argue semantics and technicalities all day if you wish, you know I'm right. If I look like a cat, I can claim to be a dog, it won't stop people feeding me cat food.
Here's the definition of race while you're at it: Wiki: a race is a grouping of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories generally viewed as distinct by society. National Geographic: "race" is usually associated with biology and linked with physical characteristics such as skin color or hair texture.
Race is, for the most part, not self-determined, you can whine it about as much as you want, it doesn't change society and it doesn't change anything.
Well in the world of Western porn, straight male porn performers are essentially Black or White . I can count only one successful Asian/Thai male straight performer over the last 20 years and most Latino male performers are least aesthetically white or white Latino. With the vast majortity of porn being WM/ any other female, the term IR has become a necessary codeword for black. If there were more Asian, Arabic or East Indian male perfomers, for brevity I'd have no problem with them being lumped into the IR tag.
IR scenes, IR websites guarantee scenes with black men and pay for black men, and opens the door for new black male talent. Your quest for so-called civil rights in porn will end up us having less black males a la Brazzers and very poorly produced amateur sites who have less ethical accountabilty. There are dozens of genres of porn that I never watch or have time for, lezonly being a prime example. So a filter is nessesary. If you keep seeing politcis in your porn then you are watching the wrong type of scene. Porn is supposed to be escapism not a Tedtalk lecture.
Sure, if he wants to appear as someone who believes in unscientific theories supported by racists. A thing that by the way would have (and rightly so) a horrible effect on his reputation. But I think he's much smarter than that.
I've always found it bullshit that IR only and exclusively meant black/white. There are Asian, Desi and Spanish performers. How come that's not tagged as IR. Fuck the IR label.
You don't get get. The actors in straight western porn are almost exclusively white male or black male, with the ratio of content being possibly as high as 80/20 in favour of the white male. So putting the IR tag on a white male/asian woman scene for example would be stupid because there are hardly any asian male straight performers in the business. Most if not all latino and Spanish actors are white too a la Jordi, J Mac, Nacho or Ramon Nomar. IR was simply a convenient codeword for black male with any other race of female.
I don't know why the mathematics is so difficult for some people. If I ran the database I would keep it as it is. Removing it is whitewashing.
Dread, you are allright, the definition of Interracial sex is basically sex between people of different races, beside the point of wich race, asians, wihte, black, hispanics, native americans et cetera. So your poiint is good. Okay, for me it is now more difficult using IAFD databse to filtering movies of a certain woman where she shots with a black or colored guy, the "traditional" IR films. But this is not really important actually. By the way, what was the "N" word, must confess not the read the whole treat, has written and read too much today, and english is not my "mother-language" it's german. Thank you...
As mentioned before, the term "interracial" isn't inherently bad, but in porn it's coded language used to specific effect. It makes black people a different category, even when doing the same sex acts as normal. In fact, the way "IR" and "BBC" work in porn makes me think of a Lee Atwater quote about coded language.
You don't normally hear something like "I don't work with n*****s" from performers who would be inclined to say that; there are socially acceptable ways to say the same thing. Porn embraced the stereotype that all black men have huge penises, so white performers can say "My tiny white pussy can't handle BBC," and even if black performers are on average the same size as other races, white performers are given an acceptable excuse to not work with black people, and/or to charge more.
Also, consider which of these sounds better: "I don't work with black people" or "I don't do IR."
They mean the same thing in porn, but the optics are different. You hardly, if ever, hear the first, but the second is constantly used. It sounds just like "I don't do GG/BG/anal/gangbangs." Those are entirely different categories of sex acts, but working with someone with a different skin color isn't like a different category, but using "IR" allows you to treat black people that way.
For example, in a Rolling Stone article Blacked producer Mike Moz "defended the practice of offering higher rates for white performers doing their first scenes with black men. 'Within the industry, any kind of first has a value on it. You're vying for those firsts.'"
I wonder, do white performers charge more for their first BG with a white guy? Does Vixen Media Group pay more for BG debuts of new performers like Blacked does for their first BG with a black man (I say new performers because performers who are porn veterans but haven't done BG likely do charge more, for example, Georgia Jones.)?
Then again, many performers shoot their first BG for casting or debut sites like Shot Her First, Net Video Girls, etc. I don't exactly see those sites paying premium rates. It seems like some performers will shoot for any company if it's with a white guy but then they raise their standards and will only shoot with a black guy if it's for Blacked.
My guess is that most performers don't charge a higher rate for their first BG with a white guy, and then take lower rates for subsequent BG scenes. BG is essentially the default of porn. A first BG is usually not noteworthy for a new performer, so why does it warrant a higher rate? And by making "IR" a category, it makes white men the default.
As others have mentioned, a way to change this is to either racially categorize everyone, or no one. So all scenes are tagged as white man/white woman, black man/white woman, etc. "IR" is only descriptive if it's code for "black," why not make tags more descriptive?
a genuine question to all (males) that claim the need to "identify with the male actor" (and hence the (questionable) need for the male actor to be the same race as oneself): What do you do with threesomes? Do you single out one single actor you 'stay with'? Or is it fluid and you swap to that guy that just is visible on screen? Is it really that important that the guy you think about being right at that moment has the same color skin as you do? So watching lesbian porn would be absolutely out of the question then, because there's no male to identify with? in my 20 years of watching porn, I personally have never felt the need for such an identification. But I guess I'm in the minority here... If I watch a 60 minute video on Youtube about an excavator clearing a building site, I also don't try to identify with the excavator (but maybe I'm just watching it for the ASMR-like feeling... But to be honest, isn't porn really a similar thing?)
About the database thing: For those who claim that now they have to search longer for a scene where a specific actress performs with an actor, this sound to me a lot like: I don't care who it is, as long as he's black. If I use the scene pairings search option, I already have the possibility of searching for ... did she do a scene with <insert favorite actor A> or did she do a scene with <insert favorite actor B>? (or you could do the lazy thing and post here in one the actress's thread and ask... at least that's what I constantly see.
I think we can agree that we all know that I/R is a porn designation for black guys and white girls. I think we can all agree that we all also know that a white guy and a Latina, Asian, black girl, etc etc is also technically I/R. So, for the love of god can everyone please, please, please, stop regurgitating those beat to death proclaimations, like they've discovered who was on the grassy knoll in Dallas back in 63. Thank you.
This whole debate is about as useless as the article I just read where Elmer Fudd will no longer be hunting wabbits with guns. He'll still be allowed to use a sythe and explosions but not a gun because cartoon hunting of wabbits with guns is a gateway to real life gun violence.
Translation: I/R porn will still be produced but someone thinks that deleting a category from a search engine is going to change the world.
I shot a friend with a BB gun when I was a kid, emulating cartoons I watched on TV. Fortunately, I didn't hit anything vital - just pissed him off - and I learned a valuable lesson. I don't advocate removing guns from all cartoons, but I do advocate teaching young kids not to do something just because they saw it on TV. Yeah, I know, we might assume parents would be doing it already, but parents make bad assumptions, too.

The rest of your post rings true, but nope, this here is your own claim and a classic strawman. Them correcting something they believe to be wrong does not have to be much bigger than that, creating hyperboles only serves to weaken any point you have.

Are you really suggesting the removal of the IR tag will lead to less IR scenes being produced or something? Pure conjecture.
I'm not against filters, I am against discriminatory filters. If something that is historically wrong is being corrected, I am all for it. Times change, you grow up and evolve (hopefully...).
Everything is political. The act of making porn is political. The existence of porn is political. Access to porn is political. Porn doesn't exist in a vacuum.
PS. you've posted about your porn preferences ad nauseam, we know dude, we know.
Actually, some/many of those "first shoot" sites do actually do pay more for first boy/girl scenes, even though the male performer is white. Especially the pro/am sites where they are trying to lure women who aren't looking to go all the way into the industry yet.
(also, Net Video Girls and Shot Her First are kinda weird exceptions because they're actually connected to people who run their own talent agencies, so many times its women represented by the people who run the site shooting their first scenes on there).
