What are you, French or Italian? The nation where they glamourize the young girl with a man old enough to be her father? Americans think in terms of their children. That is why they have this view. Very few fathers would want their 19 year old dating a 42 year old. I know a few Germans and English folk that don't think too well of it either. So why don't you stop assuming Europe is some unified culture. You're from there and you act as though the people of Europe all think the same way. They don't. Americans from different states think more alike than Europeans from different countries. The main people that still think a 42 year old dating a 19 year old is ok are those still caught up in the old world thinking with arranged marriages and nobles picking young wives from their subjects. America never grew up on that type of garbage. So we prefer people of relatively the same age dating and spending their lives together. We don't think our young people need father or mother figures as their companions. Though if you're rich, you do what you want. You can always find women that only care about money and celebrity.

Not even mentioning the number of young/old people I see at the beach and in my holiday especially from Germany , maybe in France and Italy they could just do in the open what they already do in the shade at home, maybe just maybe nobody cares in those Countries (you should add Spain though) EDIT I just remembered of a librarian I know who married a girl from Poland she was 22 he was 42 , her father was 40 , they are still married , three children but he's now 53 and she's 33 , at the ceremony (in Poland) there were relatives and friends from both parts but nobody gave a single fuck about the age gap
