OMG, I remember both of those feelings when I graduated from college as well. I had flashbacks when I walked down the aisle listening to my named being called. Totally surreal. Its so awesome you did it Katja & we here are all proud of you.
Congratulations Katja. Glad to see you completed your degree and are working in a field you have a passion for helping others in need. I hope your past doesn't hamper your future too much of a stigma is placed on those who work in the porn industry.
One of the problems with working in the porn industry was for me that I was constantly told that this is who I am and this is the only thing I am and will ever be. There was this atmosphere of fear created to make me believe I could not succeed in any other field. I am very proud that I was able to break out of this cycle and that I just refused to believe it anymore. It was the first step to recovery for myself. I was extremely scared in the beginning of my journey, always worried someone would "out" me and then everything I worked for would be for nothing. But it has not come true. Some people know what I used to do, some others don't. I have had some awesome professors who talked to me about it and expressed their support for me. I have so far only made positive experiences and I am so glad that all my fears of rejection have not materialized. I graduated on top of my class and I am very good at what I do. I have students call me thanking me for tutoring them, telling me I am the reason they succeeded in their class. I don't think they would care about my past in the light of the immense help I provided to them. We will all be judged by others in one form for or another. For our gender, sexual orientation, physical appearance, age, status, religion, skin color, our attitudes, behaviors and maybe even the car we drive. I see that as an unfortunate part of human experience that we all encounter but it's not something that will make me stick my head in the sad and be helpless and hopeless. I will go my way. Maybe not every single opportunity will become reality for my, as for everyone else, but overall I am very confident that I will live a life that I love living. Congratulations for all of your achievements. Unfortunately the hardships which people with a past in sex-working/porn are confronted with seem to be real and not only make believe. I read about people whose bank accounts were cancelled without explanation, or who were fired from their jobs without a reason and the like. All this reflects the hypocritical way how society deals with humans and sexuality. Until now you somehow fortunately managed to get along with that in a satisfying way. Maybe sooner or later everybody in your social sphere will find out about your pre-study career and maybe this will give you a hard time inbetween, when you need to be totally open about it but this will really separate the wheat from the chaff. Once you´ve overcome this phase it should be much easier, because no one can "out" you anymore. Stay strong and furthermore good luck.

I wish we had more retired girls letting us know what became of their lives. It is really nice to know someone that we enjoyed watching, left the industry and has gone onto a successful life. There are so many doom and gloom stories out there; the unfolding of Katja's life has been refreshing and leaves me feeling good. I know so many guys around here get off on suffering, degradation, etc... but we do have to realize these girls put their bodies through enormous strain for several years with risk of long term consequences in order for us to gain pleasure. If Katja lived in Ontario Canada, I would hire her in a heart beat in my small business as an administrator. She is a true role model for all the young girls in porn, or entering porn..and I have a lot of respect for what she has achieved.
