Things I like:
The colourful clothing and accessories the girls wear. And that they sometimes keep them on while getting fucked. It's visually more interesting and adds individuality to scenes than nakedness everytime.
Also The yard and its vibrant spraypaint art. Very cool, very fresh and distinctive.
That Mike engages with the girls in the opening of the scene. I would like it if you always asked them to introduce themselves and give names, even those girls who you have shot there before. Consequently, each time a viewer puts on a scene, they know who the girls are without having to check an external source.
The balance you have found in demonstrating respect and regard for the girls througout the scene, married with elciting a strong performance and encouraging the girls to push their boundries when it comes to gagging etc.
Mike as a performer. The sex looks authentic. It doesn't have that mechanical, disengaged and passionless tone found in some other porn. The fact that Mike sometimes has to stop from cumming endorses that real sexual satisfaction and pleasure is actually taking place. That knowledge is a turn on that gives vitality and intensity to the scene for the viewer. Because the underlying theme of porn is the girl providing the male performer with pleasure. So i will seek out more scenes by this director/performer due to this aspect.
Ideas for the opening scene dialogue:
Sometimes in the intro conversational sequence with newish girls, you ask about their motivations for doing porn. While Mike is overall very good in this area, sometimes the phrase would appear, 'is it for the money?'. I totally get how it can slip out as part of conversational enquiry but it strikes as a slightly clumsy question which can possibly unsettle a newish girl or put her on the denfensive. I think an alternative approach would be asking what are their ambitions for their porn career? Or to rephrase, what is it they want to get out of doing porn? As in, is it about exploring their sexuality and going on an adventure? Do they have any porn actress idols and care about winning loads of awards.
Or can indirectly ask about money through asking if they wish to do or are currently doing college or some other training, if it feels a relevant question. Furthermore, can ask them if they've seen any of your movies prior to turning up on set. How do they descibe themsleves growing up, were they a rebel/party girl or good/shy/nerdy/sporty etc. Did they watch much porn growing up. Do they like to get stoned. Plenty of porn girls do and it would give us viewers a further indication of their personality.
What hobbies an interests do they have outside of porn and having sex? I think this would be a good question because it turns them into a person rather than another one dimensional nympo porn doll. The more she opens up of herself and becomes a 3 dimensional real person, the more disgraceful, sluty and hot it is that she then goes on to get throatfucked. The more the models become individual and distinct real people and the less they are interchangable porn actresses, the better imo.
One of my favoured scenes is Natalie Moore in Anal Casting Calls 2. One reason is her look, natural hair colour, beautiful natural breasts plus natural skin tone i.e no fake tan and little in the way of tattoo's. But another is because Mike is clearly into her and establishes a good rappport. She is there as a real life person as opposed to a porn actress. And crucially, she doesn't attempt play up to the porn actress cliche of a giggling and brainless nymphomaniac simpleton. Pleasingly this is true for plenty of the girls Mike shoots.
We all know porn involves fantasy and performance but i think the hottest thing is the girls who present a more grounded authentic character in their scenes. This will be subject to what each director is looking for and the actress involved but i think Mike is great in regards to looking for and allowing it in the girls performance. And I recognise it's no doubt easier to achieve when there is only one girl in the scene opposed to three.
ps. Just looking up now it appears via her twitter and instagram accounts that one of the other girls in that DVD is a lez (alana rains) and only performs straight for pay. Is that the kind of info most viewers would want to know or is it more likely a turn off? I enjopyed watching her scene the other day when thinking she was straight. And i'll definitely enjoy watching it again but in a different way, now that i know otherwise. Personally, I would have been very happy for that info to have been revealed in the scene, assuming she was disclosing it or even lez back then.
Ideas for shoots:
Use mix of Fruit that has been in a blender as a messy and colourful ingredient to use in scenes.
Advising the girls to drink/not drink a certain product the day of the shoot in order to produce particular effects for the throatfucking scenes, in the event they puke up a little (which i like). Try not to cut out puking or their reaction to it. Sometimes the cut is really quickly when i would have liked to see their reaction play out for a couple seconds more. Maybe you can add such material in a Bonus or BTS blooper clip like Jay Sin does if you are hesitatant to add more xtreme visuals to the main movie. But i reckon the guys watching a sloppy messy throatgagging movie arent going to gross out over it. I would happily see the girl empty her stomach and get red eyes in every out your throatfuck movies. That shit is hot. If i wanted vanilla, i'd be somewhere else.
Revision of scene props:
Being innovative means having ideas and being willing to try things out. That is how developments and improvements are made in Mike's movies and variety added. And with that process, feedback is important. I may be behind the times now but i would say the tapemeasure and thermometer didn't/don't add positively to scenes imo. The rectal thermometer seems bizzare and surreal and is mentally a distraction, taking away from the erotica of the scene. And the tape measure seems unweildy and quite pointless when practically applied. And frankly, a little daft and goofy. But these are tiny issues.
conclusion
Mike is clearly a meticulous director and big time porn fan, along with being a top performer. I'm sure there are some of us here that feel like good and interesting porn is a rare thing these days. Mike and his team do a great job distinguishing themselves and producung porn that is exciting and relevant and a visual treat. Their results show that they obvously care a ton about what they do.
