Tricia, I made the mistake of getting sucked in here myself, and I know you have a personal insight into this that none of us have (though I'm sure the Georgia lawyer knows more about HIV than you could ever possibly know, only having the disease and all), but this thread is a waste of time. If, in fact, it ever had a point, it has devolved into little more than -- well, now two -- ignorant, moralizing, ill-informed malcontents explainign how horrible our business is, and horrible all of us who work in it are to the poor, abused talent. Catharine MacKinnon would be so proud. Don't dignify it with your responses. It's a long-dead horse being flogged with the same whip over and over again.

I tell looky here the same thing I tell anyone else your health is your responsibility educate yourself and act appropriately plain and simple. simply I have and I prefer the gold standard method of testing but truth is I also realize that the entire thing is pretty much a non issue, particularly for me. There are other things healthwise that concern me way more. I have been shooting in this biz for 15 years never, not once has anyone caught so much as a crab on one of my sets. I aim to keep it that way.

Thats a statement that on the surface looks great, but tell me this same statement if you are shooting in LOS ANGELES with girls who are on the talent agency websites at least once a month. and another thing, on your post to adult fyi, you stated that girls don't want to work with former gay porn stars or wards of the California Correctional system. But after looking through the movies you directed, it seems you PERFORM in those movies as well. So which of the 2 aforementioned categories do you fit into?
Perhaps Mike South's operation doesn't require Work Comp coverage, but the assembly-line CA porn industry with its large numbers of shoots and actors and actresses and gonzo rough stuff DOES require regulation and Work Comp coverage. The beauty of federalism.

I wouldnt send my worst enemy to AIM dear...Id send you to a qualified testing facility. and by the way I didnt pull those numbers out of my ass. There isnt a viral load test that doesn't have a lower limit and right now that limit is as stated. But Im not going to argue this really because it isnt the point. The point is if you are going to put your life in someone elses hands be my guest go with whoever you want or whoever tells you what you want to hear or whatever I really dont care. Do the research for yourself and act accordingly
The real issue here is that there is nothing wrong with following safety and protecting the talent. I just wish someone was there to watch my back when I was tossed around in "DeBellas Young Fellas" and I would not be suffering with a what appears to going to be a long term neck and back injury. I was in fact an "employee" of RLD but they had me sign a waiver to do the scenes for them. If I knew what I knew now or my so called husband at the time was protecting me I would have been covered under workers comp and my medical needs would be met. Directors should direct not perform. How can you be objective to what going on with safety or even the quality of your scene if you are caught up in the scene or maybe have someone designated as a safety person to intercede with its gets out of control. The industry hates osha but what is even more dangerous is the unlicensed talent agents that have turned into pimps. Telling their talent they are going to scenes and when they get there its a rap party. Or agents forcing girls to do excorting instead of booking scenes. So there are alot of regulations that go over looked. But when people get out of control is when control steps in. We dont need more regulations but we need to create industry standards and supervise and disciplne ourselves. Then government wont have to.

Let me clarify, in relation to HIV tests, the term gold standard was used by the BECKMAN corp. as a marketing slogan. Now mike, go to www.roche.com and put 'gold standard' in the search box. You will find this "PCR HAS EMERGED AS THE 'GOLD STANDARD" IN DIAGNOSING INFECTIOUS DISEASES LIKE HIV/AIDS AND HEPATITIS"(Sept.,1998) The elisa method of testing,while exremely accurate itself,is simply outdated and has been for along time. It was only the cost associated with running PCR technology that prevented its useage in the past.Now that those costs are coming down, the U.S. is finally cathing up with the rest of the world in respect to this new technology. You are simply WRONG on this issue. You are wrong now, you were wrong in the past, and you will probably continue to be wrong in the future.Like I've stated on this board in the past, the CDC, National Health Organization, and Los Angeles County Health are not only fully aware of AIM using this test, they have stated that they fully approve and APPLAUD their chioce of this technology. Just call the L.A. county health and ask for KR. Kerner. He WILL take your call and educate you on this issue if you like. Or would you rather remain ignorant? LOL Actually i just got back froma 4 week motorhome vacation through canada and alaska. It was the trip of a lifetime. The fishing was awsome, the scenery unreal, and the northern lights, i just cant describe. And MIKE, i just reread you virologist letter from a few years ago. Man, that was good for a laugh. The real give away was when the 'virologist' said that it costs about 10.00 to run a pcr test. Youve come up with some good ones in the past, but that was a classic. I think youve used this quote before and maybe you should take your own advice....."It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Mike, do you know how much a lab has to pay for just the patent fee to run a pcr test? No, you dont!!!!

Dear Eli,like most people who make their money in porn, the truth is the last thing you want anyone to know about your buissness.When i bring up these subjects its like turning on a light and watching all the cockroaches run for cover. As far as being ignorant and ill-informed, you couldnt be farther from the truth. I've BARELY touched the surface about what I know regarding health(or lack there of) and safety in the porn biz. I suppose nex youre going to tell me how great this industry is, how honest, and how its one big happy family. Funny that for someone who works in an industry that claims to be the protector of freespeech,your advice is to keep quiet and not respond. And as far as moralizing, I thinks ALL sex work should be legal, but the BIGGEST roadblock to making this a reality is the porn industry and their refusal to act like a legit industry. The groundwork for legal sex work was put in place with the Freeman decision, but the PORN industries unwillingness to to take the necessary steps to legitimize and regulate has stalled that effort. I think there is another reason you dont lke this thread. And that is because I've hit the nail directly on the head, and the truth is very hard to accept. One final time,,, What has this industry ever done for anyone who contracted HIV?I guarentee nobody "in the industry' will respond truthfully to this question. P.s. That Veronique Vega thread was enlightening. It reminds me of how Robert Deniro got sued when he delayed a movie because he had to have cancer surgery on his prostate.
