It's worse when you realize it's not about "hey, I'm not gonna die of that harder flu" it's about stopping elderly and people with medical conditions getting infected. A big reason why this is getting out of control is because people like Steve are ignoring it instead of taking care and be prudent. If people took the right precautions then the virus could be better contained instead of passing it to more and more people and getting more and more people at the hospitals.
I just want said I am angry therre are still some people enough irresponsible having worked in Budapest and Prague day before yesterday, yesterday and will again today when we have a very serious pandemic situation around us. I will not give name here I don't want start again some war but really some people in our industry need a brain. Yesterday a 4 years old child went to emergency in Hungary for CoronaVirus infection but two days ago a "director" was in Talent Testing Service of Budapest and said " I don't care this virus I have the cure and I am young so no chance I get a problem" ! And this person as shooted yesterday .... Crazy world !!!
^ & ^^ Exactly. It is so short-sighted and shamelessly ignorant to look only at the impact on the virus on yourself if you're otherwise healthy and not the fact that it can be passed on to people in high risk groups who are likely to fare far worse.
Obviously I don't have any insider info, but I've noticed Ricky Greenwood's movies have a turnaround time of about of 5 months, between seeing tweets of scenes being shot and them being released, so they should be fine for some time, as long as editing and whatever else needs to be done are still running.
They might run into problems if this lockdown lasts longer, but then they could do what everyone else seems to be doing and slow down their release schedule.

I like to throw in a chip here. In Europe, things slow down, showbiz is kinda put to sleep. But we have a great exception; in Sweden, harness racing goes on like always, they have the fortune of greatness competetive horses-wise and they keep going even though pussydepartment in Norway, Denmark, England, France and so have shut it all down, as if there was any problem to proceed.
Pussydepartments should thereby be challenged and by so be neglected. That means full strike forward, as if nothing have ever happened, just take some precautions: That means a limited bunch of people in the closed areas of shooting, those going in clinch know all about the stakes, and we race on from there.
Now is the time for an enterprising producer to assemble a large group of talent to be quarantined into a large home together, like a real life Brazzers House, and just spend the month making content on a daily basis.
^^ On what basis is now the time? What's to say now isn't too late? Testing now may not show a negative result but a day or two later in that large home, it may transpire that the test result was actually a false negative and the virus could spread across the home. Patient zero may not be obvious either since they don't have to show symptoms to be contagious.

If they did that it would be two weeks only as they are required to go get tested every two weeks. Then let's say Brazzers agrees to it and the whole house is full of 12 people and they all get Corona then most likely if Brazzers then father time Keiran and Steve would be there who are more susceptible to the virus and pass away. Then the news catches hold and now a damn shit storm for Brazzers and the industry itself ensues, so sure sounds like a great idea.
^ I agree and you are right. But younger guys are also not immune from cancer, suicide, car crashes and sepsis. The fact the average age of death is 78.5 offers perspective. Nevertheless, the economic meltdown has begun and the consequences will be far far reaching.

If a crap load of porn stars catch it because they decided not to listen to the warning it will not look good for the industry as a whole. It would be more in the arsenal of the porn haters out there to use against the industry.
Most of the hype is BS IMHO! How? Going to the beach is dangerous, the same with going to bars, restaurants, and even golf courses. However; in NYC alone, the subways and other mass transit is open for business. How is jamming thousands of people into a metal tube not incubator central for this supposedly life threatening illness?
Because people and businesses aren't taking it seriously. Just look at Italy. Italy ignored it and think about it like you do and now they're going through some big troubles with how full the hospitals are and how much it's spreading and killing the elderly and people with health issues.
Regardless, the point of taking it seriously is just to contain the virus instead of letting it going through most population. It's not BS, it's simply doing the best to contain it instead of ignoring it.

can we stop with the false equivalencies now? Beaches bars restaurants are luxuries aka "not essential." Public transport is still essential! Most businesses and people ARE taking it seriously in NYC I assure you, for the past 5 years I've had to commute on the NY thruway, Cross Bronx, Van Wyck, Clearview, BQE, And most of the Major Roads In NYC. They all have nightmarish traffic conditions on the reg. In the last two weeks I've hit zero traffic on any of them except for the occasional fender bender. And I'm not talking just unusually light, I'm talking hundreds of yards between cars and trucks. Its like a freaking bad twilight zone episode out here. As for the subways, This is how most people move within the City, You can't just shut them down without seriously hampering essential functions. Waste management, doctors, nurses, utility workers and others have to be able to get to their jobs. Most of the essential people who actually make Manhattan and surrounding area function can't afford to live there, they take the train from Connecticut, New Jersey, Queens etc. NY transit authority, Amtrak and others are regularly cleaning/disinfecting cars and buses and with less people using them people are able to distance themselves instead of being "packed" as you have suggested. People could still be even more proactive but to suggest the hype is B.S. is like ignoring the fact that your foot is on fire. It's bad, and it will continue to be bad for some time to come. This is the lack of preparedness I was talking about in my previous posts. The catch 22 is that if everyone stays home, the curve may be flattened over a longer period of time and the healthcare system may be less overwhelmed with less deaths as a result. But that promps everyone to believe that it was over-hyped. however, If everyone goes out and the infection rate spikes we'll all be left pointing fingers at each other for the devastation and death rates we see. It's hard to sell to the public the idea that you are helping by doing nothing, and if nothing happens than we did a good job. I can't speak to whats going on in Europe but in the U.S. we've been playing a very dangerous game by seeding distrust in the experts, referring to them as "elites" who have hidden agendas. Distrust with government, it's integral institutions, news media, and thumbing our noses at "elites" may have proven a good strategy to win elections but when the chips are down we depend on them all for the preservation of society.
Also big Ups to Pierre for acknowledging the seriousness of this pandemic and halting production until it blows over, and this meme is showcases exactly why I was unable to pursue a career in Science. We tell our kids that science is important but lab techs only make on average 30k a year and technologists make 60k if they're lucky. Barely enough for a single bed apartment in NYC. Not going to the beach isn't going to ruin peoples lives or kill them. It shouldn't be a big deal.
As for mass transit, "why is it o.k.?" I don't know, that's a matter for debate. I don't know if it is ok... should you have to live within walking distance to your work if your essential? I assure you they WOULD shut it down if they could but they can't without completely debilitating essential functions.

^you can't blame the media for how people are responding. How people react is on them. Nobody is saying "end of days." I challenge you to give me an example of one reputable source which is saying this.
To the contrary, most media and experts I've heard are saying "we'll get through this!" They're also just saying to social distance (which really should be physical distancing) I mean, were socializing plenty right here.
As for the repercussions of closures and economic hits to the private sector, there will be a time and a place to debate our lack of preparedness, play the blame game and cry about inconveniences later.

Sorry, I also have been a bit off topic. That being said, to make up for it I have a question for those in the industry. I would appreciate any feedback and info on how we can support pornstars who undoubtedly will suffer the brunt of the effects from this. I know OF is an option but I can't help but think support through OF alone will eventually hurt big production companies. You still count the victims to evaluate the danger of this virus , the real problem are those who live and get hospitalized , in a week this virus will make your healthcare system collapse , 20% of those found infected need an hospital most of them need oxygen of that 20% a quarter can't even breath for themselves and need a ventilator machine , they'll need three weeks to a month to recover and my suffer permanent damages to their lungs. Meanwhile more patients with the same problem keep coming in.
Keep in mind that you still need your ICU for everybody else but you can't all beds are filled with CV patients more than that this virus is highly contagious , many doctors , specialized nurses and paramedics get infected fairly often , you'll find out yourself unable to man your ICU and you're running out of equpment incredibly fast.
People at home and expecially those who need oxtgen are short of suppliers because all the facilities in the area are filling oxygen for hospital use full time

and it's not like coronavirus is the only reason people will need hospitals. when the system is overloaded mortality rates for everything will go up. Two weeks from now will be an incredibly inconvenient time to break a leg, need a blood transfusion, any sort of critical surgey, ect. From what I'm reading, many younger people just aren't taking the COVID-19 threat seriously. This is precisely the demographic that porn draws on for talent so if they're feeling invincible they may see no need to take steps to stop the spread of the virus. One thing that the sense of invincibility doesn't take into account is that there is no human immunity to this virus yet.
Florida appears to have been very late to take this threat seriously. The state government took no steps to curb spring break events. Beaches were only closed a few days ago and bars were in full swing until recently too. With no human immunity this could spread quickly in close quarters. And since a lot of porn is shot in Florida this could easily spread into that business. (Not to mention, of course, that all these spring breakers who may have been exposed to the virus are now home.)
California seems to have done a better job of locking down than Florida has but it sounds like they are having the same issues with younger people feeling invincible. And with California being the centre of the porn universe this can't help.
(Obviously some of these problems exist in other places but since we're talking the porn industry that's primarily in the US. Italy obviously didn't take the virus seriously in the beginning and they're seeing the results of that now in high fatality rates. I read that in Vancouver a large group of younger people had a huge beach party. But, Vancouver doesn't have a porn industry so it shouldn't affect that.)
Donald Trump isn't exactly showing leadership on the issue. He's denied the severity of the crisis, he's said that there is a vaccine coming along soon and he's recommended using an experimental drug that medical professionals don't recommend. It also seems that his motivation for anything around COVID-19 is purely partisan and not related to saving lives.
This may rankle some readers, but I can't help but think that American individualism is behind a lot of the current COVID-19 response in the US. Individualism runs in the American veins where most other Western countries have a stronger social and communitarian bent. There is a much stronger sense of 'fuck you, I'll do what I want' in the States than in most other Western countries.
But. as this virus spreads it won't make sense to differentiate the porn business from the general population. One possible difference is that the porn industry may be wrongly targeted by right-wingers when they aren't any different from the general population. Then again, the right-wingers will probably look to blame anyone they don't like. They could blame Planned Parenthood even.
And finally, this is a bit off topic and will likely annoy some, but I can only give a first-hand report on the lockdown in Canada. It probably hasn't gone as far as it should have, but we aren't facing the denial and partisanship at the highest levels as the States seems to have. That may be reflected in the numbers of infections. The US had 46,300 cases as of yesterday. Given that Canada has 10% of the population that the US has you'd expect 4630 cases in Canada if all things were equal. But Canada is reporting 'only' 1646 cases. And the lockdown looks set to be tightened up today. My fear is that the US could see widespread infections and huge numbers of deaths - both in raw numbers and proportionally.
