Who's fault or decision is it to do something they do not like? It's theirs. They could say no just as easily as saying yes. You just made my point when you said you have heard of stars telling newer girls they don't have to do anything they don't want. Exactly. Again, if I meet a girl who is just getting into the business, I would give her the same advice, as I have hundreds of times in the last 25 years.
Lets think of a scenario: a typical working day at a burger joint. The pay is lousy, you have no job security, no benefits, work long hours without any kind of real opportunity to progress from there. I can barely imagine anyone likes to work at a fast food place. At the most you can maybe get to the point where you mind trick yourself into believing it's not so bad and it could be much worse. But if a little fairy would come to your bed before you fall asleep at night and you could pick what you want to be, I highly doubt anyone would pick "flipping burgers". I imagine people picking: pilot, engineer, astronaut, doctor etc. Now here is the deal with porn: it's not totally horrible. It has a lot of advantages that mostly serve short term satisfaction like lots of money in a short period of time, no responsibilities, no skills required and it appeals to young people because when you are young you don't care about commitments, achievements, personal growth etc. you just want to makes tons of cash and besides that be left alone. There certainly is that whole glamorous illusion about what it means to be a porn star but I don't think many people who do the work of a porn performer on a daily basis would do it if they had the instant option to get paid the same amount of money to do something else. It is obvious that porn star or flipping burgers are no real careers that get you anywhere in life but sometimes those are stages that we need to get through. Rome wasn't built in one day and some of us unfortunately don't have rich daddies who pay us our way through college. Some of us have to work some job while dealing with life. It doesn't mean we are totally desperately unhappy while we are doing it. No, we chose to take life for what it is and make the best out of it according to our abilities in that moment. For me that was being a porn star and for others it's working at a fast food restaurant. However, once we get to the point where we are ready to evolve we are happy that part of our lives lies behind us. A very smart person just recently told me that you will always be judged by others and that I should be very proud of everything that I have been and will be. Because how cool is it for daddy's little girl to graduate from college with all expenses paid by lawyer or doctor daddy? It's to be expected. How amazing is it for a former porn star to change and study her ass off to become more than what anyone would have thought she could be including her own self? You will always be judged according to your starting point. If my starting point was porn then I am even more proud of myself for where I stand now. Not despite of it but because of it. What I needed to understand was that I don't need that fairy to come along. I learned that life is as good as you make it. If I wanted to be a doctor, I can be one but everything comes with a price and doctors are people who went to school for some 10+ years. I became aware that I can do whatever I wanted if I only were willing to pay the price for it. There is no free ride for anybody. Even the ones we envy once paid for what they have. All the doctors spent at least a decade of their life studying, cramming for exams but when we look at them we don't see that. There are porn stars, there are burger flippers, there are doctors and they are all trying to find their own way through this crazy life. Happiness has nothing to do with what you are but what you see when you look at yourself in the mirror. If you are truly wholeheartedly convinced that what you are doing at the moment is the very best that you as a person are capable of then be proud of yourself. I personally didn't feel like this while I was doing porn but my scale might not be someone else's scale. I didn't hate it because the experience was so terrible. I just didn't see myself progressing anywhere from it and I came to realize that I wanted something else for myself.

You´re perfectly right you made an amazing evolution into a direction only the least would have expected from your staring point (and by the way proved some bad cliches wrong). Regarding the fact you weren´t totally commited to or convinced of what you were doing as a porn worker, you delivered a very convincing performance in the realm of the fictious world of porn (hereby keeping in mind that "porn sex" isn´t like "real sex"), which underlines the professional work attitude you seem to have. I just hope that the cliche-laden bigots who are unable to see a person as he/she is will never be able to diminish your second career by permanently uncovering your first career. I know people who made a similar change in life (but not as drastic as yours) and these people have to suffer a lot from envious people dragging out their past. And yes, there is a price to pay to be a doctor (I am one by the way) and the ride to that position wasn´t free and being in that position doesn´t solve life´s problems at all. But I won´t go further into that as this is a porn forum and not the physicians´wailing wall. I think the most important thing to remember is that it's not the job that's supposed to make you happy. The happiness should come from within. If you're well adjusted and have a good outlook on life the job you have shouldn't really have that much effect on your happiness and well being. I have to image there are happy people working at burger joints and even having sex in porn movies. In fact I know there are because I've seen and met them. Too many people buy into what society has decided are "good" and "bad" occupations to have. Is flipping burgers really a "bad" job because of he actual work or is it because of the pay? Does the high paid doctor always leave work in a better mood everyday than the fast food burger flipper? You were able to stay popular for years in a business that most girls can't make it work even for one year. You were a much in demand covergirl. I'm far from a porn insider but it seems like you did all that without making any enemies since I've never heard anything bad about you. Plus, if I remember correctly you said you were able to take the money you made in porn and help your family. In my opinion those are all things to be very proud of. I don't claim to know you or what you went through but I'm willing to bet if you did a positive vs negative checklist of your porn years the positive boox would have more stuff in it than the negative box. I think you have to separate girls who say they hated making their scenes from those who regret doing porn. Some girls may hate making scenes no different from people who hate their jobs. Two performers no longer in the business come to mind. Jersey Jaxin bashed the porn industry after leaving it. If you look at her in some of her scenes she is clearly into them and often creaming. I saw her with Ed Powers in More Dirty Debutantes volume 313 and she was obviously not hating it. Traci Lords is another girl who slammed the industry after leaving it. If you had seen some of her scenes before they pulled them off the video store shelves because she lied, showing phony ID and performed underage, you will see she was into the sex. Traci Lords also put out a film when she was of legal age called 'Traci I Love you' and her performance was great, not one of a girl who at the time hated doing what she was doing. You can usually tell from just watching a scene whether a girl is truly enjoying it, indifferent, or hating it.
I was surprised to read that Ashlynn Brooke apparently didn't like doing porn as much as it seemed. You're right. You can look at the way a girl is behaving and reacting in a scene and get some indication of their enjoyment. Plus, with some of the BTS footage they shoot you can tell/see they were having fun and was clearly into it or at least don't mind it. I'd have to think the percentage of girls who just outright hate shooting scenes would be fairly low. On the other hand, the number of girls who hate being associated with a business that so many people look down on is probably a lot higher. Filming the scenes might actually be fun but dealing with friends family, and the judgemental people in their personal lives may be tough to deal with. I'd also imagine there are aspects of the porn biz that are just a pain in the ass or hard to deal with. So yeah, I can totally understand a girl regretting doing porn or feeling bad about being in a business that people judge so harshly. So it makes sense when those girls get out of the business they put it down or try to distance themselves from it. I think the girls who do that do it to feel better about themselves or to look better in the eyes of others. Girls who claim to hate filming scenes is a whole other matter....

Well it looks like there was a major case of it in Japan. Honoka was a semi-big name in the latter part of the last decade. She wasn't Yua Aida but she was known and had a good three or four year run. She was a little older and tended to play teacher roles (teachers fucking students = major JAV theme). In past interviews she claimed that she loved sex and entered AV industry by choice. She also released a book called "Little devil teaches you how to do great sex", which taught how to improve their sex skill. Well, that was all bullshit. She gave a long interview to NHK, which is the equivalent to ABC/NBC/CBS, that she was raped by someone in her family when she was 15 yrs old (some people think it was her father) and was sexually abused for 9 years. When she was 19 yrs old, Honoka began getting psychological counselling and therapy. But her father went into debt for this, and the loan shark who was owed the money forced Honoka to do JAV in order to pay her father's debt. She told the interviewer she hates JAV and had no choice but to do it. She woudn't have joined the adult business in the first place. The book was a hoax by her agency. The girl is the victim of years of sexual abuse and doesn't enjoy it. It was all to create the nasty girl image. Now that she's been retired a few years and removed from JAV, she decided to speak the truth. I have to admit I was fooled. Honoka was one of the more aggressive girls, not a passive whimperer like so many JAV girls. So this is a shocker.
