What kills careers more than anything is time. Most female performers have an expiration date, after which they go off to do something else. If a performer has a two-year career and shoots 80-100 scenes, that's pretty good. If 18 months of that time is on contract, that's just career time going by. The contract didn't "ruin" her career, it just took up a good chunk of her time in the industry. I would imagine that these Vixen and Mindgeek contracts are a great relief for the women, giving them certainty of income and a regular routine to schedule their lives around, and also working with a lot of the same people for each shoot. Personally, I prefer the ladies that I follow to not be on contract, but I understand why they do it. [Link]
