All true ... Riley has posted on Facebook on January 8: and next week I'll be in Las Vegas for the AVN Awards then I have some Photoshoots for Playboy and I'll be on set for my first anal scene .... I think January will be my best month of the year ♥ APPEARANCE FORWARD I CAN NOT WAIT..
I read through that FB account timeline way down until January the 8th, in the most recent posts she actually reported that she wouldn't make it to the AVN to her scorn. I think there is too much detail and effort in the posts to be sure it's a fake, but let's wait for Riley to clear all this
^ Well there were several accounts created almost same day around 29 sept this one too. What you will say about "her" photos from Vegas hotel before AVN? + We all know that Riley is a twitter user. Why she suddenly switched completly to fb, and in this FB account she NEVER twitted (from the sept) to follow her twitter account. It is fake, however no one forbid you to read it. Really sorry.
NO NO PEOPLE NOT ME THE CAN SAY THIS THING I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS FALSE ... ARE YEARS THAT ASPECT THE FIRST SCENE ANAL OF RILEY riley, please confirm ... THANK YOU

Something being kept under wraps is going on. Her Twitter account isn't showing up. I tried the new ones, they aren't showing up either. DP was either hacked again or they are fighting over the name Riley Steele. We all know how DP is, they will fight to control the name and material associated with that name including social media. If that is the case, I doubt Riley will be able to fight DP/Manwin. This is the unpleasant side of being a contract girl: having very little control over your porn name and the value associated with it.
^I could be wrong but it's always been my understanding that DP owns the porn name of their performers and therefore a performer who leaves them does so without her porn name and can never profit from it. Maybe some will think it's harsh on the part of DP but I think it's a fair trade when you consider that a DP contract is a pretty sweet deal.

riley wrote me i can't say anything till after the 16th however .. but good things are coming this year .. i really love having your support :) i will post something as soon as i get final word xoxox ryry Thank you Riley
OK, it's after the 16th -- any news? Her wikipedia was updated to say she was a DP contract girl from 2008 to 2013. and the initial press release announcing her signing was from February 29, 2008 http://business.avn.com/articles/Digital-Playground-Signs-Riley-Steele-25083.html If it's the regular 5-year contract, either it was signed before the press release was issued, or there should be news at the end of the month - but based on the evidence out there, we should know something soon. I think the options are that she could (1) be negotiating with DP like Jesse Jane did before her extension, (2) leave DP to be a solo player, or (3) leave porn. My guess is 1 or 3, but if she goes 2 it will be interesting to see what happens. Everyone here talks about how much better gonzo is, but I think the last contract girl to give it a shot was Raven Alexis, and that didn't end well. Interested to see Riley's next step.
^ Interesting. I'm hoping for (2). The comparison to Raven Alexis is unwarranted: 1) Riley is a much better performer, 2) Raven went ape-shit crazy by pretending to have cancer. If Riley decides to do porn without DP, her name will be a problem. I think Jesse Jane started a new twitter using her real name and started to build a fan base independent of her DP brand. Riley hasn't done anything like that. Katsuni owns her name, so she has had no problem maintaining her fan base. Given that she lives in France, she is still a pretty big star. Tera Patrick did great after leaving DP, but she was able to keep her name too. Shay Jordan was never as big as Riley is, but her career fizzled after she left DP. Part of her problem was the complete loss of name recognition. I think Riley's a big enough star that she could re-establish herself under a different name. If she does it, and is as big or even bigger under a new name, she might be the first girl in porn to pull it off. I would guess that Riley doesn't want to do porn without a contract. For one, she's only performed with a limited number of directors and co-stars, and would need to deal with performing much more often and with people who she may not trust. Second, she hasn't evidenced a desire to do anything even remotely extreme (by the standards of porn). She has done a handful of BBG over five years. Do you think she's really going to leave DP and sign on to do a double-anal gangbang in Mason's next big feature? (Granted, she may be ready to do IR, and hasn't because DP uses a small number of (white) studs in all their films. The IR kink does next to nothing for me, so if Riley did an IR, it wouldn't be a big deal to me.)
^^ In interview some months ago (can't find link right now) she said, she extended her contract for another 2 years. I think her original contract was on 2007 which ended 2012. + 2 years extra. Meanwhile, without Riley's twitter she cant ask us to vote for her on the next Fan awards. So if anyone want to help Riley winning some awards, you can vote here: The Fannys Awards
^ If you win at least one fanny (i hope finally the "Performer of the year"), you will become the most fan awarded star ever (of course i can be wrong in the counting awards for other pornstars..:P ). Edited by - alex-in-dreams on 2/18/2013 5:58:12 PM
^ Since you ask.... I suspect Stoya's situation is a bit different. First of all, she was at AVN, and her scene in My Haunted House seems to have been filmed as recently as September. (Just looking at the 2257 Notice on the trailers, you can't find any evidence that Riley has filmed anything since "Code of Honor" was made last summer.) Stoya is still active on twitter, and she is promoting DP's products. That said, she was clearly unhappy with DP a few years back, and it's not hard to imagine her trying to leave in the future. If so, I can imagine her functioning comfortably in the wider world of porn, especially if she had good representation. Depending on whether or not she actually sold her name to DP, she might win a Trademark battle with them, because, registered or not, the legal question is about who first used the Trademark in commerce, and she shot softcore porn under the name of Stoya before contracting with DP.
^ Week before Riley's account suspension she was filming a movie in the studio. This fact confirms topic in the James Deen blog: Riley Steele And James Deens

Stoya is a smart cookie. DP does not own her name. Confirmed by the good lady herself. ukmg
From what I've read in the past, "Stoya" is a shortened version of her last name and has been called that before the world of porn. She is a smart cookie and seems to know exactly how to make this porn/non porn life work for her. Yes, I'd love to see her do something away from DP, but it seems this is the way she wants it. It suits her lifestyle and her other ambitions.
The huge problme with DP and their contract stars is that even if the girl came into the industry with that name and was using it prior to signing with them. It may be implicit that once they sign with the company that the name is more or less their to promote and the company may trademark the name where has the girl never did. I'm not saying this is the case with Stoya but I get the feeling that anyone leaving DP and then trying to make it on their own all the while using their name might find themselves accused of trademark violation. I'm pretty sure that DP has deeper pockets then most performers so if they decide to press the matter and go the legal route then most porn girls would simply stop using their porn name simply because they can't afford the legal fees involve in fighting this type legal battle.
^^ While I agree with you that the law is as much about power and money as it is about justice, DP is not Exxon-Mobil, and if they filed a frivolous lawsuit, there could be penalties. In fact, I could imagine such a suit working to the performer's advantage, both in terms of direct financial benefit and publicity. I am not an intellectual property attorney, but I believe that a Trademark belongs to the person who first uses it in commerce. The law recognizes that the same Trademark might be used in different industries or locales. So, when Apple Computers emerged as a major brand, the Beatles record label, Apple Records, took issue with the computer company's use of the name, and a Court ruled for the computer company. When the computer company later went into the music business, the record company raised new objections, which were eventually settled out of court, but which delayed the introduction of the Beatles catalogue to iTunes for many years. The law also recognizes that the same name can be used in different locales without causing confusion. So let's say Stoya never shot porn, but simply gave lapdances in Philadelphia. If some other girl who worked in L.A. liked the name, she would be free to use it-- in L.A. But let's say the original Stoya is really popular, and guys are always coming into the club and asking for "Stoya" because they heard she gave great lapdances. If some girl shows up at the club, and says, "I'm going to call myself Stoya, and all these guys who have never seen the original Stoya will pay me for lapdances," then our beloved Stoya could sue the panties off the fake-Stoya. Now let's imagine a DP exec shows up at the club, and gets a lapdance, and leaves it thinking, "Stoya, what a great name!" At this point, the stripper is just a stripper in Philadelphia. The DP exec can go back to the offices, and say, "I just heard a great name, and let's use it with the next girl we sign to a contract." They sign the new girl, and promote the hell out of her under the name of Stoya. They can't sue the stripper for using her trademark in Philadelphia, but if she started to shoot porn, or tour nationally, they might have a case. This is where registering a trademark is useful. Let's say the stripper had a plan. She was going to strip, then shoot a couple of porn movies and tour as a stripper. She could then register her name nationally, and say that she intends to use it both as a stripper and in porn movies. In this case, even if she had never shot a porn movie, she could fight anyone else who tried to use her trademark in porn. In this case, the real life Stoya had already used the name in softcore porn, so she didn't even need to alert others of her intent through the registry process. DP might claim that softcore and hardcore porn represent two distinct industries. But this would be incredibly hard to sell to a judge, especially since Stoya has appeared in movies (like Pirates 2) for which DP released both hardcore and softcore versions. If Stoya had sold her Trademark to DP, then they would own it, but I would be surprised if anyone would be stupid enough to sell their name to pornographers. Moreover, we have clear evidence: Katsuni, Raven Alexis, and Tera Patrick all performed before their DP contracts, and all performed under the same name after they left. The only small difference is that Stoya only did softcore pre-DP, and I can't imagine for a second that a judge would see that as a substantially different from hardcore.
