you can't take the whore out of her... blah, blah, blah... maybe you are even right and so is it true that you couldn't take my brain, my determination, my motivation and all the other things that were there before porn and during out of me.
sorry but I have to say that I have never experienced so much rudeness in real life than here on this board. I am not a promiscuous, evil whore and I am not a saint. I had a career as a porn actress - what's the problem? I don't see it. I was a porn star and so was I and am I still many other things that you might not know of because they were not part of my public acting career. I am not trying to be something I'm not, I'm just shifting the focus a little. It's really not that big of a deal, get over it...
I am not damned... wow that's funny. I am a happy, normal, satisfied person with lots of interests, friends, things I enjoy doing - just like everybody else and ex porn star is not all I am.

The day of finding sophisicated, fun-spirited porn fans on porn boards is over, I fear, Katja. But I second your thought that this is all much ado about nothing.

Another thing retired porn stars do is get eaten by mutant piranhas while parasailing on Spring Break in 3D no less.
I was at the theater watching Piranha 3D this afternoon and the fat kid from Stand by Me who married Rebecca Romjin was playing a Girls Gone Wild producer. They started aiming the camera at a big titted redhead who was parasailing. While getting pulled across the water topless, she started doing a routine similar to a pole dance. A closeup shows Gianna Michaels in all her glory. After a good 45 seconds of closeups, she dips back into the water and gets attacked by a school of mutant piranhas. The next time she gets pulled up, she was severed at the waist. While the fish had her cash and prizes for lunch, her luscious melons were unscathed.
Check out this link for the pix.

Piranha 3D - Ashlynn Brooke and Gianna Michaels go Hardgore

Piranha 3D comes out today, if you like porn stars and gore, you will definitely enjoy this movie. Pornographic actresses Ashlynn Brooke, Gianna Michaels, and Riley Steele make cameos in the movie as party-goers who meet extremely gruesome piranha related demises.
Gianna Michaels plays the role of a topless parasailer(I know, it's a stretch) who lands in the Piranha invested waters. The Piranha chow down on Gianna's lower half, when the boat accelerates, her half eaten torso ascends into the air.
Overall, the 3D scenes were just meh (it was converted from 2D to 3D in post production), but there was one scene that stood above the rest. Derrick Jones(Jerry O'Connell), a character loosely based on Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis, films an underwater lesbian ballet with Riley Steele and Kelly Brook set to "The Flower Duet" from Lakmé. All in glorious 3D.
Jerry O'Connell gets his at the end, I'm not going to say too much but let's just say the Piranha eat his penis......in 3D

Yes, I did. I've performed Shakespeare and I have no doubt you could too. It requires little more than remembering archaic language, pretty much the same skill as a child remembering a nonsense rhyme. After that you just go on stage in unusual clothes and say your piece at the right time.
I'm not confident that either of us could perform porn, so which is really more difficult?
But my point is not, of course, about difficulty. It's about playing a role, a very narrow, stylised and edited idea of a very small part of life. Katja as a porn performer has been deservedly successful, but of course she has always been playing a role which focuses almost entirely on sex and little on anything else. I'm entirely confident that there are many aspects of her that we'd never even suspect from her on-screen porn roles. Probably 90% of who and what she is would pass under the radar of even the best 'Behind the Scenes' of a porn movie. Just as we would be fools to judge a person by seeing them perform Shakespeare fifty times, we'd be fools to think that all Katja Kassin has to offer was even hinted at by porn performances.

Katja, I hope my post didn't give you the wrong impression. There are people here, just as in real life, who think of women as only damned or sainted, and any woman who isn't sainted is automatically damned (even if she hasn't done porn, but doing porn would guarantee it for those people). We can't do much about them except hope they overcome their limitations.
There are other people, and I hope I'm one, who think of others as who they are, not what they've done at one time, and not in categories like damned or sainted.
If I ever meet you I'm sure to notice that you're attractive, I'm likely to wish erotic thoughts as I do about most attractive women I see, but foremost I'd be interested to have a chat and see how you're going. The idea that anyone might be defined by a porn career seems silly to me. Good luck, I hope you continue to have a great life.

That is so true on many levels.
There are girls that do porn and end up failing at life....but that are also girls in other fields that fail at life no matter what their jobs are. Some girls do porn and move on to other things and live a quiet life like most other people.
I don't announce that I'm a porn star when I walk in the room, when I'm out doing shoots for 'regular' people, or when I'm doing stuff for school. I never, ever bring it up. If somebody asks me about it, I will confirm that I have done porn, but other than those times, I have no reason to talk about it. I live in a regular neighborhood, drive normal cars, and try to blend in with the rest of the world so as to not bring extra attention to myself.
Porn isn't what defines me as a person, even if that's what other people want to believe.

If they think of you as a normal person, then they can't project their outrageous, wish-based fantasy notions on you.
Porn-fueled fantasies like: "She's a wanton slut who lives only to fuck and suck."
("Geez -- I guess if she leads a normal life like me, she can't really be the compliant, ever-willing, no-boundaries sex robot of my imagination!")

^^I've had quite a few people of both sexes, in various situations tell me over the past year or so that I totally fucked up their porno fantasies in general after they met me in 'real life'. Being the quiet girl in jeans and a tank top that never wears makeup, would rather read a book than go to the mall, that spends most free time feeding homeless people/talking to domestic violence victims, and won't be caught dead in a night club or at a party makes their brains implode.
Ginger Lee, stomping on people's porno hopes, dreams, and fantasies...yep, I apparently do. Oops.

I remember seeing Sly Stallone being interviewed on the Tonight Show back in his heyday.
He said that guys were always coming up to him and saying things like, "If you think you're so tough, try to kick my ass right now!"
And he'd say, "What are you talking about? I'm not a tough guy -- I'm an actor."

I just noticed the implication of the thread title: "What happens to..." That implies a lack of control of their own lives. People who don't have control of their lives generally don't have happy lives, regardless of profession. Another title option is "What do pornstars do when they retire?"

Katja, it is wonderful to hear you are doing so well. You were always a perdonal fav of mine. Its funny cuz just the other day I was talking about ur myspace and how I remembered you were very clear ur myspace was about who u are and what u like. I remember you had some cute pics of u enjoying the world cup in germany. I was stoked to find a pornstar who's myspace was more than just a promotional tool, and since then I have always liked knowing more about my favorite stars than how cocks they fucked in such and such a movie. Like keeani lei being an avid surfer and skater or dana dearmond being edge or julia bonds rapping skills. To me porn stars are regular people with an unregular job. Not whores or sluts, just exibitionists who like to perform a taboo art form. And whoever said jay sins movies are degredation, I never see girls having the kind of fun they have in his movies. Unbridlled joy oppose to gag factor, where most girls look like its the worst day of their life.

acrobat if you want to see stars enjoying themselves check out any of David Aaron Clark's AZN Super Idols or Banana Cream Pie series. Dialogue is about as free flowing as it gets and the reactions are genuine. Sure there's some acting but at different junctures the acting stops and the "fake" sounds end and it becomes a really enjoyable viewing experience!

I wonder this all the time. In particular, I've always wondered where Cheri Taylor ended up. As I recall, she didn't get into porn until her late 30s (after a divorce?), and then she abruptly left a few years later. She seemed classy and never had a drugged-out look to her, which separated her from a lot of the big '80s and early-'90s porn stars.

Hey Katja, now you have retired, I am curious as to what you make of the porn industry and your time in it. What did you like and dislike about it? Do you have any regrets? What is life really like as a porn star? Also, this is a bit of a rude question, so I will understand if you don't want to say, but as you are one of the more well known actresses, I was curious about the kind of pay you get for appearing in scenes? Hope you're doing well.
Peace and love.

I don't have any regrets about anything because it was exactly what I wanted at some point and now I want different things. Once you reached a goal you have to set the next one and that's what I did. I am almost halfway through my fall semester and things are looking great. I am getting all A's, pursuing an AA in Spanish and preparing for transfer into a Psychology BA at UCLA.
I prefer to look forward and don't see much of a point in picking apart the part at this point.

Keep looking forward...not backward. So many former performers disappear and we never hear about them again.
Thank you, Katja, for letting your fans know how you are doing. Just because you no longer perform in porn doesn't mean we don't encourage you in your quest for happiness in a new career. Keep up the good work in school. Your mother can now boast about your good grades in school to her friends.

I disagree with you conclusion. Many people retire from working every day, yet still do certain things that they like to do. My father was a quality control manager for IBM. After he retired he would occasionally consult certain businesses, but it was not what he did every day. My husband is retired from radio broadcasting, and he still voices some commercials for former clients, but he doesn't do it every day. Chessie no longer works daily in the porn industry. She has a small farm in Kansas, yet still shoots some videos and escorts..but not everyday. Retiring doesn't necessarily mean that you totally stop what you had previously done.

Interchangeable. The Jizz Biz is often used as an identifier for adult entertainment, The Biz is usually entertainment in general, while "The Industry" can be any industry.

Most of the focus here seems to be on female pornstars retiring which is expected
since nobody gives a shit about the guys. But male performers probably have a
tougher time retiring than females if you think about it. The women make lots
more money so if they saved their money they can use that to help transition by
getting a college degree or some vocational training. They could also use the
money to start a small business or purchase a franchise (I'm not talking about
a million dollar franchise like McDonalds here). Even if they don't have money
they might be able to marry a guy who can support them. Some may stop doing porn
but continue to work as escorts. Even if they are broke if they have a baby they
can get some kind of state assistance like welfare.
Now consider the male performers. Almost none of those options are available to them.
Most of them probably make just enough money to live off with not much left to save
up. They may work side jobs of course. But they may face the same stigma challenges
that the women face depending on the job. Escort work will only be available if they
are gay. Some of them try to start their own production companies but most of them
fail (remember Sean Michaels' company and Extreme Associates). I remember when Jerry
Butler retired he ended up working at the post office. Which ain't a bad job but the
USPS is financial trouble now. Maybe a couple will get lucky like Jamie Gillis did
and hook up with a woman that has money or a job to support them.

^ You make several good points about male porn stars except this one. I liked watching a biography on Ron Jeremy several years ago. I like his sense of humor. In his business, having a good sense of humor is an asset. It was interesting to learn that he started out as a special needs teacher in New York. He had a girlfriend at one time. He has managed to acquire a vast store of contact names and phone numbers in a large book he keeps. He is also known to have saved a ton of money over the years. He has said that when he dies, he wants his penis delivered to the Smithsonian Museum! The "Hedgehog" has become old and fat, yet he still manages to find sweet young things in his old age.

Interesting comments. Why would a guy want to retire unless maybe he is a serious relationship with a nonapproving partner? As long as he can perform most guys would probably wish to stay in the business so their careers generally last much longer then most women (think Herschel Savage & Randy Spear). Sadly there is a lot more wear and tear on the woman's body and generally their careers are shorter. If a guy does retire, I think there is a lot less of a stigma about being a male pornstar. Most guys would probably think It would be cool to have a friend or work with a retired male where the woman pornstar is more likely to be looked down on.
As far a male escorting, sure some may be gay but believe me there are plenty of wealthy women out there would pay big bucks to be taken care of by a guy with a huge dick and great stamina.

Thanks for your rhetorical plugs for that porn star?
It's not a conclusion, it's fact. She was escorting and making videos before, she is escorting and (according to you) making videos now, it is plain fact, she is doing the same thing, she has not retired. Over a span of 17 years, she only has 226 credits on iafd, barely enough credtis to represent working every day for one year. No one escorts every day for a significant period of time. No one, not even Kristina Rose, makes a video every day.

The point is that many pornstars do not really retire, they just continue to provide some form of "adult" services. Performing in porn is actaully a career for very few, though it might be steady work for a few years for many women, usually in addition to providing other "adult" services. Providing "adult" services is much more than a career.

Well he's not any of those people, In fact, I had no idea who they were, so I had to ask. No, he worked in much smaller cities, and does some things for a couple of car dealers, a jeweler and a carpet company. The funny thing was, when I met him he was pretty well known in my hometown, and everybody I worked with knew who he was, but I had never even heard of him. I never listened to the radio very much. He has a sign-on here (The Milkman) but I try and discourage him from posting because he only likes to post on politcal things and he winds up getting into big rants with the Clam Digger, Billy Bathgate and a few others, so I sort of reward him for keeping his opinions to himself.

You just answered your own question. The older you get the more you start to fear
being old and alone and maybe you want kids. And not everybody will be lucky enough
to find a wife who allows them to keep doing porn. And you might not want to continue
if you have kids.
Ignoring that you may not be able to get enough work as you get older. Fans get sick of
seeing you, you lose your looks, new younger better looking studs come along, the
younger girls don't want to work with an old fucker. At some point you won't have a
choice. When was the last time you saw Randy West, Mike Horner, or Ron Jeremy. Nothing
last forever. I'm surprise Sean Michaels is still performing at 50+ years old.
Somebody mentioned Ron Jeremy. In an interview I saw a while back he said that he
was smart enough to use some money he made doing mainstream movies and TV
to invest in some rental properties which generate enough income for him to live off.
