I like RLD, PXP, Evil angel, Anabolic, etc.
I can't find differences between RLD and Anabolic and PXP nowadays. One of the reason is that they share same actors and the directors are from actors. So they don't make feature movies. Can't they make gonzo movies having story lines like "Fashionista" by evil angel? I could so often see Manuel Ferrara and Steve Holmes any movies in RLD and PXP and Evil angel. Of course I know they are very good actors. But customors don't want to see the same actors fucking the same actress in the same way.
So RLD and PXP need to make new style movies.
And RLD and PXP need to find some new male actors.
It is good thing for PXP to have Maison.
I like her movie. It is because she try to make her movie in her own ways. And this is same for Rocco.
I have bought all Rocco's movies.
But I gave up buying Rocco's new titles any more.
He have made the same movie more than 10 years.
I like his old movies.
Of course I like his another try, which is to make 'Big Budget Movie' ; The Collector.
Please don't share same actors too often.
When I saw Manueal Ferrah on Animal trainer 7 and Rocco's Way to Love, I thought he would be another porn king.
Nacho Vidal on Rocco's Never Dies was very cool.
Who found them?
Every company tries to find new male actors.
And I hope to find some asian male actors on adult movies.
I have never seen asian men fucking white girls.
It can be shocking scene.
It's not easy to find asian male actors having big cock.
One guy in japanese porn has big power and big cock.
I don't know his name. You can find him easily in japanses movies.
Try to read this article.

Same actors in every movie is the reason why I hardly buy movies from Red Light District and Platinum X. I mean how many times do I have to see guys like Manuel Ferrara, Erik Everhard and Michael Stefano in action?

I know Dion owns both companies so he can do whatever he wants but thank god we consumers can do the same!

Let me try and give you an honest answer, even at the risk of offending the politically correct.

First of all, the reason you always see the same actors is because of the problem of getting wood and keeping it. There are just not that many men around who can perform in front of a camera. Many feel the calling to bone pretty girls in front of the camera, few are able to follow through.

Secondly, there is probably a certain demand for certain types of male actors at certain times. Hence, the overexposure of cocksmen like Jack Napier, Mandingo, Lex Steele, etc. It seems that every vid company is trying to find a black man with a 12 inch dick.

Thirdly (and related to the second point): I suspect that there is little demand for Japanese actors screwing Caucasian girls. You already mentioned one important obstacle: Asian men tend to be underendowed. Keep in mind also that porn has to tap into our collective desires, fears, obsessions, etc. The black man/white woman combination attracts and repels Americans. We want to see it but we are also disgusted by it - that is what makes it successful. Asian men just don't figure prominently in our collective (sexual) imagination (unlike Asian females).

2Big's Posting is "on target".

See the link to "How to be a Porn Star" in the free/Guest's area of my www.davecummings.com.

Believe me, we very much wish we had additional guys, preferably new ones who don't need certain prescription pills that sometimes make it difficult and/or time-consuming for them to cum; or guys doing the injections into their penis, which sometimes pose other risks/problems.

To put it simply, consistancy. There's a certain thing that drives male performers to become staples of the industry.
I'll sight Erik Everhard coming down from Canada, driving a four cylinder Sprint only hitting on three, staked $500.00 borrowed from a friend. Really no connections to speak of, he made the plundge. The rest is porn history.

This drive is rare, few and far between. All guys say let me at them, then can't do shit. It's a skill to do what the top male performers do in this biz. 1 out of 200 wanna bees can pull it off. Every guy says yes but when push comes to shove the dick says no.

Bottom line, there's your reason.

I always thought RLD uses a good variety of men. Like Dion stated "I watch the movies for the ladies". Me too. I don't care about the men as long as they don't fuck up the scene. I love the Dvds where you never really see the male talent. Ramsey you have made your dislike for RLD and Dion's other studios very well known. I for one like RLD alot. Of course we all know that it not a easy job getting wood on a porn set. So, you always gonna get that blanket statement.

I have to agree that the lack of talent is somewhat of a turnoff -- but I think the best way to alleviate it without changing it, is to stop showing their faces. Gonzo's all about closeups on the action and the chicks -- get the guys' goofy faces out of the way. When there's a 32" scruffy head eating pussy on my screen, it's an automatic fast forward and a limp dick from me..

Why is it that Tom Byron can find 'new' guys with no problem and use them yet RLD and PX can't?

I know finding guys who can deliver the goods consistently is not easy but I'm telling you people out there in viewerland would like to see new faces and this is most important, YOUNGER faces amongst the studs. I sell web content, movies featuring 'teen' girls, 18-22, and more and more I am being asked for 'guys under 30' to perform with these girls. Sometimes I think it's more a case of the adult video biz being an 'old boys network' than 'young guys can't deliver'. There are definitely many people out there, young females for sure, who want to see a 19 year old fucked by a good looking guy under 30 not one of the old boys network who are mostly well into their thirties and forties. An effort to find and develop new young male talent is needed. Doubt anybody will put the energy into it.

There's a reason you are seeing Dez aka Slim Shady in so many of the SocalCoeds videos, the customers want young dudes with young 'coeds'.

The main reason, I suppose, is so easy like ¡There´s no more!
Everybody´s agree about it´s very difficult to find new stars. Well, I´m sure of that. I´m the director of a new talent agency in Spain, and everyday I see pictures of boys that want to get into porn business.
None of them could be a star like Nacho or Toni Ribas. Being generous, maybe some of them could perform but if it´s so difficult to find first level performers...Why they were going to risk big companies like RLD or PXP?

There has been a number of posts lately talking about the male performers in the industry, the lack of variety, even cutie Demi Marx asking how she can get a guy she knows into the biz, etc.

Let us cut to the chase on this topic, shall we?

There is no question fucking in front of the camera defeats most would-be studs. We have documented that. But the problem is not quite so monumental as most producers would have you believe. There are no agents scouring LA looking for male talent now, are there? Nobody is hustling nude male models for video work in hetro hardcore, are they? Nobody is exactly asking for audition tapes, or putting ads in the industry media, are they?

Fact is, the straight hardcore industry (which prides itself on knowing a whole lot more about these subjects than its customers), has never wasted its time worrying about the male talent. Never. Give them 2-3 guys who show up sober every day on time, fuck on cue, cum on cue, help the directors get all the usual shots they need, keep the action level up, keep the girls (who are always brand new from week to week) relaxed and reassured from beginning to end--and oh my God, they will stick with them till the studs are old and gray (and have many times, as we know). It may seem a ridiculous system, but most directors have enough headaches worrying about the female talent without having to sweat the guys as well. And that creates the "buddy" system between producers, directors, and male talent we see, and have ALWAYS seen, in the hardcore business. Most directors use the same studs over and over because they know them, they trust them, and its easier. How else would Ron Jeremy have gotten work all these years?

From the very beginning of the hardcore scene till today, fans have complained about the lack of male talent--and it was much worse in the old days, where you had to watch the same 4-5 blokes in every feature role, for year after year after year . . . today, there are actually record numbers of male performers working in porn, but the key studios stay with the same guys. Fans still complain, and women, who are watching porn more than ever today, are some of the toughest critics of the old "buddy" system. Meanwhile, the industry still points to the performance quotient as the main reason for the small male talent pool. Despite the fact that the gay hardcore industry finds new talent every day (and many women watch gay porn because the men are more attractive, younger, and better presented in the videos--and who I might add, are paid much better than straight male performers). Despite the fact that, when interracial porn suddenly got popular a few years ago, the straight porn industry magically found a whole bunch of guys to appear in the videos. Interesting, isn't it?

The hardcore business has always been a men's club, made by men, made for men, and shot from a relentlessly male point of view. The idea that anyone even cares who the stunt cocks are in scenes puzzles many male producers. I had a conversation many years ago with a director, who told me that guys like Ron Jeremy were what male viewers really preferred to see, "you know, a grizzled middle-aged smuck who the average Joe could relate to, the sort of guy who would make any stroker believe that he, too, could somehow score with these beautiful women." I don't know who this director had less regard for, Jeremy or the men he describes as watching these videos!

The industry is quick to find whatever it needs to sooth demand. But it is very slow to change its system of doing business. There are plenty of young studs out there waiting to be found, but can you imagine the straight hardcore business trying to talk some guy into doing porno? Can you see them putting in the considerable effort it would take to procure, train, and pay top male talent? Can you see casting sessions Woodman style for male studs? The losers will always come to you, and every once in awhile you'll get a diamond in the rough like Everhard--but the industry would actually have to TRY--actually go out and search--to find the sort of improved pool of guys many viewers are suggesting. For me at least, the idea boggles the mind.

Really, I haven't seen many female fans posting on this message board that they are tired of seeing the same guys. Do you mean women who work in the industry?

I don't mind seeing the same guys, as long as they look like they care about what they are doing. There is a certain Italian porn star, that I have seen in 20+ scenes, and I'm still not tired of him. I've got 3 more of his films on my must-see list .

There are some men, that I get tired of after 5 minutes. These are the ones who looks totally disinterested in what is going on. They have that 'just tell me when to cum so I can go home' expression on the whole time . No matter how good-looking they are, or how well-endowed, or what the quality of their cum shot is, it doesn't make up for the lack of enthusiasm.

And then there is Mark Davis. I've read post after post by male fans on this board that they never want to see this actor on film, ever. BUT, there was a thread here a few weeks ago, in which some porn actresses said they love working with him. That was enough for me, now I'm hooked on watching him, too . When he performs on film, he comes across as showing special attention to the actresses, and that's what I really want to see.

I believe you meant schmuck, not smuck, but you made your point. This average Jane can tell you that I don't want to see Ron Jeremy at all. There are plenty of ordinary guys out there in the everyday world , I don't need to pay money to watch one on a DVD.

That's because I've long since given up; roughly half the porn I watch nowadays is gay. For straight porn, I've seen more features than anything else, so I can't speak intelligently about the male talent situation at RLD/PXP/Anabolic etc. I know I have seen many of the same guys over and over in couples porn, however. I seem to recall a "Name That Dick" game posted by Blondie which I thought was fairly indicative of the situation.

I can't find anything in Lazerus post that I disagree with. I'm genuinely happy that you've found a couple of male performers who please you, however. I'm still happy with John Leslie's appearances in the classics; hopefully I'll continue to feel that way after I've seen him three dozen times instead of a half dozen.

Stop Crying About New Male Talent! You know what I think it is the new male talent that is posting this. If you want to be a male talent so much then give the director some incentive to hire you. Why don't you pay for all the production cost ie: female talent, production crew, location, and etc - if you cannot get wood or pop. I bet more directors will give you a chance.

That is 100% right and I don't expect this will ever change. Porn is a low budget business. We cannot afford to try out guys. And keeping the dick hard is just one of many things which makes a good performer. Especially in Gonzo, where you want to shoot with as few cuts as possible, you need guys who know exactly what they do and lead the girls through the scene.

A young and inexperienced girl with a top male performer makes a good scene. An inexperienced guy kills the scene to 99%. That is not affordable.

Sorry for the typo, Renee; perhaps on some subliminal level I have associated Ron Jeremy with a large amorphous pile of a particular manufacturer's breakfast jelly. Probably not one you would like to wake up to, however.

My comments regarding the dissatisfaction with the male talent pool do not relate to ADT postings at all. They arise from many years of talking to fans and buyers. And this topic is very old; it was complained about 20 years ago, 10 years ago, and still today: the studs suck, not enough top studs to go around, the same guys in every movie, and so on. The problem is endemic to porn because, although producers will try out girls who fail--and it is possible, as Steve suggests, for a top male performer to cover for a problem girl in a scene to some extent--they will not spend the money or time trying out studs that are much more likely to falter in the same circumstances. The next Rocco or John Holmes will stumble into somebody's office or set by chance; nobody is going to go out looking for him. And that may be a mistake, because the top studs sell the sex more often than the girls do--and not just to the ladies in the audience either. (Never mind the movies Siffredi or Holmes in the bygone era made with their presence--consider Jack Napier, who WCP has marketed into a lot of tape sales. He may fit into Johnny or Rocco's jock--and then some--but he isn't fit to wear it.)

Renee's comments reminded my of a woman who once told me she watched the Rocco-Flame scene in Casanova so many times that the tape snapped. I hope she has since picked up the DVD. (Her friend with her, on the other hand, told me Rocco was sweaty, gross and disgusting.)

What I want to talk is that why some adult dvd companies don't try to make new style movie or new challange.
Because I'm tired of seeing the same style movie.
When some series in one company succeed, other company copy the style. So many similar movies have been made.
We need New Powerful Director and New Powerful Actor.
In 1980's Rocco and Stagliano made me happy.
In 1990's Pierre Woodman was the best.
I just wonder who can be the king in 2000's.
I'm very sorry to see Private falling down.
They lose so many good directors and customers.

It's true in real life, too, a young and inexperienced girl with an experienced man makes for a good time in the bedroom, for both of them (I know this from personal experience ). Probably why it works on film.
Why not pair an inexperienced guy with an experienced porn actress (not an 18 year old), a woman who knows what she is doing, who is comfortable performing on film - say Jewel DeNyle ? Maybe this would solve the problem.

Lazerus, just so you know, even I find some of Rocco's outrageous antics disgusting , but he has enough other qualities that compensate me for this, so I'll take the good with the bad. I think that women, when they see him on film, either immediately like him or can't stand him, and nothing will ever change their minds.

I know the conventional wisdom is that most guys can't perform when the lights are on and the camera's rolling, and that's why the industry "has" to use the same guys over and over. But in my experience, this simply isn't so.

Now granted, I don't shoot a sex scene every week, let alone every day. But over the last 12 or so year I've shot enough scene to have something resembling a representative sample and the plain and simple fact is I've never had a guy either fail to get hard, or fail to get off. Not once.

I few guys have taken longer to spurt than they thought was appropriate, but all we had to do was let them know we weren't in a hurry and that they could take their time and actually enjoy the fucking. In all cases these guys got up and got off without any frenzied meat beating at the finish.

As a porn consumer I could give a rat's ass about male actors. All I care about is a guy dumping a good load on a pretty girl's face. I don't care whether he is young, old, black, white, buff or obese.

In fact, I can name you any number of porn productions with buff athletic guys, who're hung like hamsters and cum less than Randy West (and that's saying something).

It's all about the tool, the penis; to what kind of body that penis is attached to is of no concern to me.

Jewel DeNyle organized Pornstar Idol a couple of month ago. Not one new male talent was found.

Also most female porn stars don't want to work with new guys, because the expect trouble.

When I started it took me 9 month to get my first scene. But as soon as they saw that I can do the job, I was booked out. Words spread fast in this industry.

I don't believe that! I actually think PlatinumX doesn't want to use other guys.

I'm sure there are A LOT of black guys out there big as Mandingo ready to do the job but they're not allowed into this 'old boys network' called the adult-industry.

Speaking of new guys, I just found 2 new ones, that I liked a lot. I saw "Virgin Surgeon" from Zero Tolerance yesterday, and there were 2 men in it I'd never heard of before, Benjamin Brat and Kurt Lockwood. They were both great - it's more than just being good-looking (though they are !), they came across as real intense performers. And they were paired with young, inexperienced women, too. I looked on iafd.com, and both are listed as only having started in porn movies in the past year.

So, there are at least two new guys that are making porn films; somehow they are making it through the obstacle course.

Alright, i'm going to throw my two cents in on this argument as I along with steve holmes produce movies and am male talent. Firstly i would like to address the issue that we don't want to use other guys. To me as a video producer i would love it if some ultra dependable new young stud came on the scene, this only has the possibility of making my movies better, if there was someone new who had proven there ability to do the job comperable to our level of performance then we would be fools not to use him. Secondly I have witnissed many new performers fail during my time in the biz, very few men are cut out for the job of a porno actor. For those of you who have not been on a porno set, it's not like there are fluffers everywhere making sure that you maintain wood, or comfortable settings in which to do the deed, nevermind the possibility of the girl wanting absolutely nothing to do with you whatsoever. Few have the ability to become turned on in situations that are anything but. The reason the same guys are used time and time again is that they deliver, for me as a video producer i have enough other things to worry about than whether or not the male talent will have wood or not. I hire only a select few guys who are the best at what they do. In professional hockey do they just go around and find anyone that can shoot a puck or do they hire guys that have proven they have what it takes to be in the big leagues?

No they do hire guys who have proved themselves but they also bring in new talent to occasionally play and learn from the professionals . And how do they judge which new dudes might cut it ? By trying them out to test their potential .

Bearing in mind all the comments about how tough it is on a porn set ( distractions , people wandering around , disinterested female talent ) isn't the thing to do to try and solve this problem . As TonyC has alluded to , with the proper care and attention most guys could probably turn out a scene . I'm not saying that directors should be wrapping their talent in cotton wool or spending all their time worrying about them . But even some minor changes could make a difference in the ability of the stud to come up with the goods . Doesn't Jules Jordan shoot some scenes with only the performers and himself as the camera man in the room ? That would seem to be a good way to go . Of course it's entirely possible that this is the way all Gonzo is shot these days so feel free to correct me .

PS - Sweet Cheeks was great , any chance of a new series like this at your new home ( especially bring back Gia - yum ) .

If the BTS footage I've seen is any indication, many (if not most) porn sets are less intimate than what a second-rate, made-for-TV-movie director would demand for a simple, fully clothed love scene. Can you imagine trying to muster some heat and passion while crew members where making donkey ears behind each other's heads.

I know it may come as a surprise to some people, but porn actors are actual flesh and blood human beings -- that's what makes watching them fuck so interesting. And like any other human beings, a little care, respect, and sensitivity goes a long way to getting the best from them.

Thank you Dumblonde for the Kurt Lockwood picture. He also has a website (Kurtlockwood.com) and it says he's about 31 years old. And, like me, he's from the East Coast.

I can't find a picture of Benjamin Brat, maybe someone else can post one. Just for everyone's info, this porn actor is not the TV actor Benjamin Bratt, who was on one of the cop shows a few years back. Both of these men look alike, probably 'cause they are both hispanic.

Speaking of hockey players, don't these guys start playing when they are 5 years old, up on the frozen north? Maybe that's what the porn world needs to solve the supply problem, to develop talent at an early age.

Hey , for a second I thought you were gonna chew me out for reading things into your post that weren't there ! Respect for the performers does seem to be at a premium on some of the BTS I've seen as well . On The Fashionistas however , even with a large crew and plenty of activity it did look like the attention was still well focused on the job at hand . Is it really a surprise how well that production turned out ?

Is it possible that part of the ' trial by fire ' method for recruiting and employing new male talent has something to do with jealousy . In the medical profession many new doctors are made to work excessively long hours by their superiors , in spite of the negative effects this practice has on their performance or their health . The reason most often put forward for continuing this practice is that ," we ( senior doctors ) had to put up with it so why should it be any easier for the new ones ". Maybe some of this is also present in the Adult industry ?

To get back on topic , I'd also like to see some new and younger male talent in porn but I also enjoy scenes with Mark Davis providing the loving . He does have a way with his partners that ensures a fun scene , even if he could perhaps stand to loose a pound or two . Bringing in fresh guys isn't just about new young faces it can also be a whole new attitude to performing . After all they aren't likely to be jaded yet now are they . Variety is the spice of life , why not mix it up a little more .

And Renee - you wouldn't be offering these guys a finishing school would you !
I mean the hockey players of course .

Even the "new talent" has spent their time in the minors, and there are scouts who have found this new talent.
Even if a guy brought in a tape of him fucking a girl in his bedroom, that's a whole lot different than the pressure of a set.

As I've mentioned before, my ex-husband had a beautiful above-average dick. He fucked me well at home, with nice cumshots. When I begged a director friend of mine to give my ex (while we were still pseudo-together a shot in a scene (a multiple-guy with a couple of girls scene, so if my ex-husband failed, it wouldn't be a lost day), my ex COMPLETELY failed. Couldn't get his dick hard for anything.

When I used to feature, I'd have guys come up to me all the time telling me they knew they'd be perfect as a performer in adult videos. I told them - cool. Just stand on that stage there and jerk off in front of everyone, but don't cum until I say so, but when I say to cum, you better cum within 30 seconds. Of course it was theoretical, but some of them got the point.

Oh yeah. A good "training area" for new talent is the live sex shows in Europe, especially Barcelona. That's where Nacho Vidal got his start. And I think a few others, but I am not sure which ones.

Don't get me started on hockey players - they are so cute! I'm sure some of them would have the looks to be porn actors - I don't know about their other talents, though.

Lee O, what you had to say about young doctors is true for my profession, too (industrial chemists). There is plenty of the "I had it tough when I was new, so you have to pay your dues, sucker" school of management training that can make mincemeat out of a new chemist . Maybe this is going on in the porn world?

All this talk about a lack of male performers just makes me curious. There are currently 36 male performers in te Male Performer of the Weeks threads. How many of them were familiar to you before I posted the thread?

Not sure who you addressed the question to Walter but I'll give my answer if you're interested . 7 . That's right just 7 out of 36 , it's hardly a pass mark now is it ? If on the other hand the Gonzo firms that are mentioned in this thread had provided my only instruction then the number would most likely have been even lower , say 3 or 4 . I'm not knocking Dion or the talent that is used - hey if they are most comfortable in dealing with these reliable performers , that's fine .

Trish , I'm not trying to argue here ( what the hell do I know ! ) but some of what you say doesn't necessarily make sense to me . Taking forward Erik's hockey analogy isn't the man who fucks his wife and sends the tape to a studio effectively in the same kind of training as a young player in the minors . You mention pressure , surely that is what is lacking in both instances . And facing up to the pressure is something that no amount of preparation can prepare you for , some freeze others bring forth the hateplow ! I'd not thought about live sex shows as a possible training ground for new guys , didn't Mr Stagliano do some of this for a very short while - seem to remember reading something to that effect in Rog's interview .

This may be a bit too personal a question to ask but ( since you brought it up ) do you think your ex would have fared better in a JJ kind of situation ? You know one camera guy , two performers , closed set .

BTW could someone please explain the importance of coming on cue . Sure this must expose the limits of my ignorance but it confuses me . If you're shooting on tape does it truly matter if the man takes 30 seconds or 10 minutes to come ?

I am not sure either.
I am just curious, mainly because I have two somewhat conflicting issues in relation to the debate in this thread in conjunction with my 'work' on the male performers of the week:

1) again, how many male performers are you aware of: I have this feeling that there are many more male performers out there, then most of us have within their radar; if you tend to watch the same type of porn (becaue you happen to like that kind of porn), it can be hardly surprising to see the same performers again and again. IOW, maybe there are plenty of male performers out there, past and present.

2) I am having lots of trouble each week to find another candidate for the male performer of the week. In part, the reason for this is that I can't find decent pictures of guys I would like to introduce. But, another part is certainly a lack of choice. So maybe there is indeed a serious lack of new male performers.

For what it is worth, let's take a look at my database. I have entered information on 5171 titles. There are 5891 female performers in my database against 2147 male performers. Is anybody surprised by these numbers? I know I am. I didn't expect I would have that many male performers.

Dammit, I am confusing myself right now. Did I have a point I wanted to make?

No problem, this is a healthy discussion.
exactly why we say there's no way for us to know if a guy will fail.
No. It was the pressure of having to perform, period. It's too risky to have a new guy be the only male performer on set, because if he fails, that scene is done for the day. The girl, the location guy and makeup artist all get paid. And there's no scene to show for it.
Technically, it doesn't matter. But if a guy consistently has difficulty cumming, girls will not want to work with him. It's a LOT of work getting a guy to pop if he's not able to do it easily. I remember one shoot where I thought I was going to pass out from trying to get the guy to cum. I never worked with him again.
Locations sometimes charge per hour. A lot of companies shoot several sex scenes in one day. If one scene takes an extra half an hour because the guy couldn't pop, it throws off the timing of the following scene. Worse yet is the guy who pops 2 minutes into the scene, then can't get his dick hard again. Or the guy who can't get his dick hard, period......

With the pressure to perform and the seemingly non-existent respect for talent (both men and women) shown that I have seen in the past, I am surprised that we have any performers at all. I wouldn't want to do it and I think if female talent had the same pressures as male talent, (like cumming on cue or mantaining real arousal) we would see about the same amount of women in porn as men. I am not saying women have it easier (far from it,) but I could put something in my ass (I know, I have been to the doctor) a lot easier than trying to maintain a hard-on while having a guy with a camera lean over me while i try to cum.

I have tons of respect for porn stars (both male and female) and have realized long ago that we should be happy for the men/women who can perform in this business. Watch a 'shanes world' and notice how ridiculous the guys who aren't tried and true look and act when they are in scenes with porn girls. If I was a porn producer, I would never risk ruining a shoot with a newbie. I would at least hope they worked through a few gangbang scenes before trying a guy on hot talent. I am interested to hear the males point o view on how they worked through their first scenes and if it was easy?

Erik? Byron? Steve Holmes?

Walter,

From your list of male performers, I have seen 7 of them in films, and have heard of, but not seen, another 8 of them, for a total of 15 out of 36. Nearly all of what I watch is either American gonzo companies shooting in Los Angeles, or the same companies shooting in Eastern Europe. And, being that I'm female, I pay way more attention to the male performers than the female ones. Does that help you out?

Okay, I was checking out kurtlockwood.com (thanks Renee) and come to find out he lives with Ava Vincent, so that's probably how he got his foot in the door.

I'm less enthusiastic about him (too rough for my tastes plus he could use some hair styling), but he doesn't seem to have any wood problems.

I'll try to post Bratt's pic later on, but there is another new stud in ZT's Wet Dreams Cum True named Rick Patrick.
Yay or nay, Renee?

Based on my limited experience (very limited!) with straight porn, I suspect that the situation is similar to that of gay porn: Certain studios get in a rut based on their style of shooting and their inbred talent pool. It's not that there aren't a great many choices of talent available; it's that the local swimmin' hole contains all the talent they need to get the job done quickly, efficiently, and inexpensively - all three attributes being paramount to successful porn.

Walter's thread on men in porn is proof of the variety out there being completely unknown to many of us. Certainly, the more obscure entries in his database shouldn't count; however, with well over 2,000 male entries, there are a lot of men who have made a lot of porn some where and some when. Therefore, the problem is exaggerated and the solution is merely juggling the gene pool a bit - getting established performers to rotate among studios and with the female talent.

Just my $0.02 worth....

Yay, he's fine with me.

Does anybody know why Zero Tolerance has all these new guys? Are they risk takers?

I have some thoughts on this subject but not a lot of time to express them at the moment. But one thing occurs to me: the arguments I've read here that make the most sense are the ones advocating more of a middle-ground approach, more of a development "process" for bringing new guys into the business. Rather than bringing a new guy into a big production with all sorts of expectations, why not try him out in some blowjob scenes first? Or gangbang scenes? The key is keeping expectations low to begin with and then ramping the dude up over time. Why not, before asking the guy to actually perform, see what his reaction is to an actual porn set by having him visit or help out while a scene is being shot?

Well, my first scene was an orgy, so with us 4-5 guys rotating through five adult actresses for an hour or two, it was easy---if I couldn't properly perform with THOSE five girls, I should have been shot:-))

I'm not sure this contributes much to the discussion, but I've been doing a little research among my DVD collection this evening and just wanted to share the results.

With regard to couples' features, I believe I might enjoy repeat performances by male talent perhaps as frequently as once per season. Otherwise, the actors start to lose credibility in their roles when I see them too often. I think, "Oh there's Evan Stone again, or there's Joel Lawrence, or there's Randy Spears." These three, IMHO, are among the better actors in the industry. I genuinely like them, but I've now watched them enough times that I have to work a bit at believing their characters.

Once per season means four times per year. During the two years I've been actively viewing adult movies, I have seen the following actors a minimum of eight times (in most cases, more).

Chris Cannon
Cheyne Collins
Dale DaBone
Ian Daniels
Mark Davis
Dillon Day
John Decker
Mickey G.
Billy Glide
Steve Hatcher
Joel Lawrence
Alec Metro
Steven St. Croix (some nonsex roles)
Herschel Savage
Randy Spears
Evan Stone
Kyle Stone
Lee Stone
Tony Tedeschi

One other thing I would like to add to this discussion is that what the viewer sees as the end product is not always what happens on the set, ie an edited product can seem vastly different from what really happened that day. People often think that there are lot's of good guys out there because of what they see on screen, they miss having to watch the two hours where the guy was woodless and the girl was taking her cigarette break. Bottom line is you see the same guys over and over for a reason, and typically the less edits in a movie the better the scene was.

The picture is a bit small, so I am far from sure, but he does look like Male Performer of the Week 23: Ricky.
If he is, then it is fair to say he got his start thanks to his relationship with Tawny Roberts. So the easiest way for a male performer to break through in porn is to hook up with a porn actress.

ZT using new guys? I thought they only used Mark Davis, Mark Wood and Jon Dough in their movies (the same reason why I don't like their movies).

Wrong males is the reason why I mostly buy movies from WCP and JSP, at least they use all the right guys as in Jack Napier, Sledgehammer, Mark Anthony, Mandingo, Box, J.Monty and Justin Slayer.

This is simple because the craft of editing is virtually unknown in pornography. Properly used, cuts are the defining element of flow and pace. Nothing kills a sex scene faster than the lack of flow or bad pacing.
