I watched a bunch of jav porn about 10 years ago. I still watch it, but to a lesser degree. Here's my take on jav lesbian porn.
1. Yes, jav porn has much better plots across the board. Even if you don't speak the language(I don't), you can still sort of follow along.
2. The biggest jav porn stars often shoot little to no lesbian content. It's the opposite of what you get in the Western world. In fact, you'll see a release where some jav star is finally going to break down & shoot lesbian. What this means is the lesbian features have some of the most unattractive casts. Many of the best avoid them.
3. Like all Japanese porn genres, g/g has lots of kink. They lick pretty much anything. You get a fair dose of bondage. Bodily functions, well there is plenty of that stuff.
4. The strange practice of Japanese girls squealing with ecstasy is magnified when there are 2 or more involved, obviously that happens with lesbian scenes.
5. Kissing is often more performative than in anyway natural.
6. Scenes are long & movies are long. That's one of the biggest pluses of all Japanese porn.
I've noticed the same 1-6, and I have also noticed a common theme of 'corrupting innocence'...which of course is common in non-Japanese porn, but in the Japanese variety the initial innocence of the character comes across to me a saccharin and too far-fetched.
In that, I have a question related to not being at all familiar with Japanese culture... (1) Would that initial innocence come across as less far-fatched to Japanese audiences? (2) Is the 'squealing with ecstasy' also a cultural thing---specifically the high-pitched tone? Is that common among Japanese women, maybe due to the intonation of the language?
Just to add, I have not at all watched Japanese porn very widely, and what I have watched was probably years ago. There were some what seemed like hour-long kissing videos, which, performative as they were, were kind of erotic.

Japan just presents a much better format for lesbian porn in my opinion,their able to get a lil honesty out their girls performances.
If true, what a strange and fascinating thing! But my impression (based on the very few videos that I've seen) is that the quality of sex tends to be high (as far as the mosaic allows me to see). If those who perform in lesbian scenes are truly the "dregs" (pardon the language), I would have thought the scene quality would have been quite bad. On the point of pay gap, I just searched for porn hub survey results and perhaps found some indirect evidence? I don't want run afoul some forum policy so will not post a direct link, but you can just google "pornhub 2021 year in review" and select "Top 20 Countries in Depth." It gives out the most popular search terms (top 15 or so) from each country's users. Japan is the only Asian country other than Philippines (whose "Asian-ness" -- and I swear I'm not trying to stir any sh*t up -- is somewhat up to debate as historically they are more influenced more US and Spain rather than China or India or Persia) in the list.
1. "Lesbian" is usually in the top 5, or at least top 10. 2. There are only (after briefly glancing through the list, so I may have missed some) three exceptions: Japan, Ukraine, and Sweden, where it's not on the list at all. 3. Amusingly, for Ukraine, some variation of "Russian" appears twice in their list. Take that however you will. 4. Ironically, for US, the top search term is "hentai," the second most popular is "lesbian."

^I echo your thoughts, mostly. Freya/Spencer was the only really good one out of the past about 20 scenes, in my opinion. I like Sinn, but I am extremely not into Rachel Cavalli. Penny Barber is ok. The prison scenes had lots of cast I am not into/not convinced by as GG performers, but I do like moody lighting. Not so much into the BDSM sex, especially in the scenes where they talk alot during it. Anya/Harley was the kind of scene Girlsway looks for, entirely unconvincing and silly "lesbian sex" but pretty girls.
So I was following the launch of future titles in these months and one of them was the sequel to Sweet Sally Mae, titled The Revenge of the Twin Dragons. I read an article by AVN that covers the movie and confirmed some of my suspicions, is going to have Boy/Girl scenes. The number and extent of the scenes is not adressed, but is confirmed their presence in the movie. One of the quotes says that despite the strong support fom the lesbian fan community they decided to open the brand to attract more viewers. So that's it, one of the few series of G/G productions turned into straight porn for the sake of more views. Not really surprised but I would like to know your opinions about this decision.

So just watched the latest Girlway scene with Alison Rey and Hazel Moore. What happened? The sex itself was decent, if not exactly inspired, the main problem was the camera/editing. Thats one thing I cannot tolerate with big companies, shoddy production values. During the undressing you see Hazel's shirt get caught so what do they do? They just cut to her with her shirt off. When they're on the couch, the camera guy didn't know what he was doing, the camera was shifting position, I'm even pretty sure I could hear someone whispering behind the camera. Again, bad editing. Still, it was good to see Alison in another scene, which was filmed pre boob job.

Agreed about the sex, but that sex quality is better than 99% of their scenes. Compared to most of the releases, it's epic sex.
The mozaic is the last thing to worry about, imo. Considering the fact that american directors mostly focus on every other body part except the genitals, it's in no way different than mozaic itself. I would like to see those mentioned go to Japan and shoot scenes there. I am sure AW will give us an over the top performance and will easily fit in any BBAN/CSED release.
I'm a pretty big fan of AHL, so I tend to grade them on a curve. I'll watch anything that Sinn Sage, Spencer Bradley, and Cadence Lux are in but the other performers over the last 2-3 months haven't really been ones that I watch a lot of. One thing that bums me out a little is how hostile the subscribers there are to strap-on content. The small number of strap scenes they've produced mostly get flamed pretty hard by commenters, and Missa has to be receptive to them for obvious reasons so those scenes are exceedingly rare. Which is unfortunate because Sinn's strap-on scene with Kenna James from last year was scorching hot and a good example of how AHL can produce great strap content if they wanted to.

^I'm not one to say, "no strap scenes at all" and I don't bitch when the rare strap scene happens, but they don't do anything for me, and when stuff like Anya Olsen sucking one happens, it does take away from the scene alot. I wouldn't say it in site comments because I sympathize with people that like them and they don't appear often, but honestly I wish strap scenes didn't happen. There's minimal GG releases as it is, and it's kinda like losing a weekly release when it's strap content. I almost include it in the same category as fake moaning, "scissoring," and "squirting."

SLAYED, from what I have seen of it, is a little light on the sex. It looks like they snap footage of certain actions, with hilariously acted cumming noises, and leave. Nothing close to actual fucking, regardless of the pairings.

So, let me say a few things about a scene from Brazzers. Why, you ask? Well, it's like those North Korean propaganda posters teach us: you gotta know your enemy.
Plus, it's always good to know how things can always be worse. In an interesting parallel with the Brazzers lesbian content situation, I feel like they have also taken a few steps back in terms of the calibre of the stars they use such that they are now sort of the B team in European g/g content (relative to, say, the Sex Art network). However, the girls are still very pretty, and content is not nearly as hopeless. Even when sex toys are used, it's much more restrained. Again, like the good twin to Brazzers evil twin, it's also keeping up a consistent release schedule of about once a month. Note the recent releases.
This scene is from July 2 of this year between two girls I know absolutely nothing about: Alba Lala and Mali Ubon.
I think Alba is the blonde, and Mali is the beautiful girl with black hair and some unique tattoos. The foreplay is basically masturbation and the kissing is extremely brief. I just revised the website. Th movie will have four scenes and just one is G/G. Pretty disappointing. I don't know, I respect that the director, Ricky Greenwood wanted to make this change, but honestly, with the strong lack of lesbian movies in this year, it's really underwhelming to see someone turning their work just for more profit. He is actually one of the few directors that can deliver good lesbian scenes and deciding to focus in other genres is a great loss. I don't have great interest in watching this sequel, honestly.
^^Alba actually does do mostly hardcore B/G stuff, and doesn't get the chance to be with women often, so her inexperience makes sense to me. I've always had a morbid curiosity of seeing these types of performers doing G/G.
