Well well, this is a surprise!!

Many thanks to Hung Lo who has contacted me through myspace and told me about this thread! Cheers dude!

I have just read through this loooong thread, very interesting opinions and I must admit I do agree with the majority of the points raised! Even though it generally does point out the crappy reception asian guys have had so far in the industry.

I havent had a bad run though and I think it is definitly fair to say that times may be changing!!? I have been performing for 3 months now and have had an amazing response in the uk. 20 scenes in 10 weeks is prolific even if I do say so myself! There isnt tons of work over here and not very many performers, let alone asian guys and to be as busy as I have been is really a great thing! All of the scenes I have shot so far have been pure fire and every producer has rebooked or planned to rebook me so perhaps I will stay busy and you might see more asian on white/black/latin/asian stuff out there!?

I dunno if the mods here would consider this self promotion? If so sorry about that but here is a few places you can find me, I have come on a long way since these scenes but they are my earliest jobs and the first few were shot with my girl Kyra. Since then I have shoot tons more and with white, latin and black girls for much bigger budget productions...

His mentor might be Ed Powers of the Dirty Debuntante(DD) fame. Has he reach the 400 video mark yet?

I not sure if he has a camera person in alot of them but it just adds to the charm of the scenes; kind of intimate if you ask me - get up apologizing to the viewers while adjusting the camera angles and so forth. He does it all too; selection of the ladies, props, dialog, script??? - producer, director and actor.

Plus and it a big one; if you get hook on Ed; I gets you kind of treat him as an aquaintance or someone you know because of the vast and long time span of this DD series.

He got a good job if you ask me!
Ed Powers is the "average Joe"; the everyday man; and that makes it attractive to a massive market place.

Forgot the most important; he uses begining talent! And alot of them turn into full time pornstars with a few being superstars! Alot of guys like to see what the first porno video she did was and it is in DD! with Ed.

I wanna get things prepared and set and I wanna do great things. Its a huge industry but I will sneak in there somewhere I hope!

I am going to the Venus festival in Berlin next week and a good friend of mine is going to introduce me to a few of the US producers she knows and I hope that perhaps with a little luck and charm I might be able to make some moves!

but mainstream porn industry like any other American industry is affected by perceptions based on media/pop/film.

They are selling product to people who grew up in, and live in this country being fed these things their entire lives.

The easy way is to sell products that fall in line with what are generally held beliefs/perceptions.

Media fueled perceptions

Hollywood does it...

Try to think of a mainstream film with an Asian male character who wasn't a sexless technical guy, martial artist, or sidekick to the main star.

Given the amount of people starting threads on white women/black men threads and the IR lines out there that play to stereotype, I'd say that porn reflects at least some of the dark fantasies of society.
However I didn't say that Asian men don't have sex. Well I suppose I did with the "all natural instinct". But at least for an income group (and statistics back this up), Asian males are pushed to excel and porn is not excelling in life.
The pressure to be good the first time (and right first time every time) and excellent the second time does not make for a personality that fits with porn.

Are you serious? You seem to be ultra defensive. What does average income(or the implied average educational levels) of an ethnic or racial group have to do with this subject?

If you are really Asian, you know that there are lots of poor Asians in this country ...often working to pay off debts of passage into America....
even a person remotely connected to the Asian community is aware of this......
In New York , Philly , Bay Area and metro areas across the country there are pockets of poor Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese, Laotian,etc...
often here illegally and working for below minimum wage...often being exploited by their fellow Asians.

If being "poor" and "option less" is the road to porn, as you are implying,....producers would be raiding China-town and immigrant Asian sections in big cities for talent. They would be cheap and never ending supply of talent.

If this topic insults you or if you think Asians are being degraded , then say so.....but the stuff you're saying doesn't make sense. And I don't think that you even believe it.

"Native" Japanese, Koreans, etc...same culture as you say....same habits...practicality etc......, adhered to perhaps more rigidly than Asian American cultures but it exists in droves in Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc....

Defensive? If you want to see it that way. If you go to your local porn store, you can see titles that cater to some racial cliches. In fact most of the IR genre. There is a reason why a guy takes the screen name "Mandingo".

If I wanted to say that being poor is the road to porn, I would have said so. Lurkers can testify that I have no problem saying what is on my mind.
What I actually did say is that many Asians are pushed a lot in other directions. Like it or not, the majority of society does not see being in porn as successful. You will find that in other threads I have pointed out that there is money to be made in porn.
