This remains one of the stupidest and most annoying reflexes of (some) porn directors. They've been doing it for decades, consumers have been complaining about for just as long, and the complaints continue to fall on deaf ears. The only thing I can think of is that they are falling into the trap of wanting to think like "real" directors, and thus show "reaction" shots to capture the mood of the participants. Unfortunately, 99% of porn viewers are not interested in the ecstasy of the male actors, at least not as measured by their rapturous "O faces." I don't know why I get so worked up about this, but I still do. It's just so dumb - kind of like those 3 minute long closeups of interacting genitalia. Look, I know I don't speak for every single viewer on this topic - and no doubt someone is going to jump in to say I'm wrong and that they love seeing the O face - but given the overwhelming number of complaints about this practice, you'd think that directors would have learned by now. I don't know whether it's stubbornness, stupidity or arrogance, but some of them just keep on doing it. [/rant] [Link]
