I've got no tats or piercings and my boobs are natural 36DDs. I work hard to keep people interested, and I hear most people think I'm interesting. So what do I need to do? I shot my very first scene for a small site in Chicago back in December. My first LA scenes were shot by Billy Watson in February, the first for Mr. POV and Blacks on Blondes a couple days later. The BOB scene seems to have been pretty popular, and it was only my third scene ever. I know I've got a lot to learn about this biz, but I can't figure out what else needs to happen or what I'm doing wrong. I've tried contacting directors and producers myself with mixed results. Dan Leal of Immoral last told me that he books everything a month in advance. That's fine by me, as it translates to lower airfare for me, but then I see his posts here on ADT about "Just booked a new girl for next week" and wonder if he's just giving me a polite blow-off because he doesn't like my look, thinks I'm too old, or just doesn't like that I cheer for the rival of his favorite football team. Ed Vincent over at Kink, last I emailed with him, wanted me to let him know when I move to LA. Sorry, Ed, I'm not moving to LA, I've got too many family obligations here in the Midwest. I'll gladly book a trip and stay in your part of California a few days to shoot what I believe would be some amazing porn, but hey, I need to know I've got work lined up before I spend money that I need to make back. I've talked to various agents, producers, directors, PR folks, porn girls, and even drivers, and either people are too damn nice, or they genuinely like me and want to see me do well, but it doesn't explain why I can't find work. Click to expand You have a point, I'd be on hand for last minute calls, etc, but if these folks are scheduling scenes a month in advance, what does it matter whether I'm coming in from 20 miles away or 2000, so long as I show up. Ask Billy Watson, I show up no matter what. In the case of Kink.com, no one from LA is already there, so whether its a 5 hour drive or a 4 hour flight, a girl usually has to travel. Living in one of these areas would be helpful for go-sees, but then again, we live in an age of webcams and instant communication. I can hop on Skype in a heartbeat if a director needs to see what I look like RIGHT NOW, but I can understand being resistant to that. Maybe it's simply that, that I haven't done a million go-sees. Being here in the Midwest certainly poses its challenges. There have been so many times I wanted to pick up and move to SoCal, but like you, for a number of reasons I'm inclined to stay here for now. And you're exactly right, in today's world you can hop a plane in Milwaukee and be wherever you need to be in the LA metro area by Noon. I've done it. And despite the fact that porn has an obsession right now with girls that look like they're 16, I think there's room for a beautiful woman with your talent. LA's obsession will pass as soon as the producers realize that they're missing out on potential income that they can't afford to pass up. There are several problems that porn is facing right now and I think they only think of two of them. While piracy and the economy ARE major issues, they're ignoring the fact that changing distribution models and inexpensive equipment mean they no longer have the stranglehold they once did on the industry. Even ten years ago, most of the people shooting porn did so in LA not just for the weather, but because it was just easier to find the people and equipment needed out there. Now we live in the Youtube generation. Miami realized it first, and they've been shooting new content for a while with girls LA has ignored. Then there's New York, where niche porn markets are growing quickly in an industry constantly complaining about a slow down. I'm also noticing Chicago is starting to pick up as well. Sites like clips4sale, the major sponsor of this years Exxxtacy Chicago convention, have leveled the playing field on the distribution front. Right now I'm setting up work with sites like Ropexpert.com and IvyDevore.com, and talking to companies like Anatomik Media. Don't get me wrong, I still love LA, and really look forward to working with a lot of people who are based there. Maybe now isn't the time, but I'm not going anywhere, so I'll produce the work I can in the meantime, and when the Valley wants me, I'll be here. Of the handful of shoots I've been able to get so far in my short career, most have been thanks to networking and just reaching out to people and taking that chance that they'll say "sure, we'd love pay you to fuck on camera for us!". The world can't be as small as just LA, and I think we're all starting to see it. Not just me looking around the country for other porn producers, but everyone. Burning Angel is based in New York and has held several events in the Midwest because Misty Dawn lives in Indiana. Reality Kings is big in Miami, and they aren't alone in sunny Florida. Chicago may not be on the map as yet, but I did a test shoot today for Anatomik Media and I think their concept has promise. The company is a husband/wife team who used to shoot a lot of girls for Suicide Girls and the like. They grew sick of the typical vacuousness of 18-year-olds and are starting a company that will provide custom videos of 20-30 year-old girls to fans at a price. It isn't cheap, but I think their idea has merit, and I'm hoping that it gains traction. I'm also starting to do webcams at Naked.com (though my body is demanding it's typical week off, damnit. Stupid girl parts) and I have some work lined up with a few "damsel in distress" type bondage sites.
