Porn is about kink. It's about a person's private sexual desires and what they see portrayed that turns them on. In a very real way it transcends regular social mores. There are lots of things I like in porn that I would not mention in "real life". I love seeing a woman taking a big load on her face. Does that translate to the way I treat women in "real life"? Of course not! If any of us acted like that there would be a drive to ban every listing, or even porn altogether. So that being said I don't think there is anything wrong with a person liking and being able to search for IR porn. Or should I say what we really mean by IR, a black man having sex with a white woman. It doesn't do anything in particular for me personally, but who am I to judge what another person gets off on. If we're going to start talking about people being offended then the industry should just go ahead and fold because all porn is offensive in some way.

people should be able to search for porn with black + white people, there is no disagreement there from anyone, why would that be offensive? It shouldn't be the only thing labelled 'IR' is the point, in case you missed what the discussion is about...
re: your final sentence... this is essentially the fallacious 'slippery slope' argument - that removing one thing will lead to the removal of more things until everything is gone. I hope I don't need to point out the absurdity of that line of thinking...
Interesting convo being held here. I don't believe removing the tag is a huge deal in and of itself, as fans of it (like myself) will still be able to find it, as Jeff @IAFD said, by looking up performers' photos. I don't believe it was racist in any way though. Yes, it was used exclusively for Black performers with White performers. To me it was like how film companies treat the term "bisexual" It's never used to describe women, only men. Of course 95% of women do bisexual action, but within the industry only scenes with male-male-contact are called that. It's industry jargon or code.
I find myself agreeing with a lot of what prON Lover and evilpineapples have said. Porn has, in the last 20 years, become incredibly warped in portrayals of black men, asian women, and the whole step-family taboo thing. Its always been inherently degrading in the context of the Mainstream World. I think most porn fans (and performers) have to adopt an "it is what it is" attitude (as far as "On Screen" stuff. I am not talking about the many behind the scenes controversies that have erupted in recent years.) If you like IR porn or other porn, you simply accept that there is stuff that is both ridiculous, insulting or 50/50.
But, as a Black man myself, I respect Jeff's decision. (they introduced the cumswapping tag a couple of years ago, so I can forgive a lot of things!
I think, the larger thing that some people don't like is the senstation that "You're giving a victory to the PC crowd!!"
Don't count me among those people (are there any that fit your description, btw?). I agree with your angle here.
I don't know what you would propose, exactly. A much more complex system of labeling "races" (more like "ethnic ancestry")? Simply substituting "interracial" with any other label?
Something like the first option wouldn't be that useful for those who want to identify "IR" scenes. The second option would be downright silly.
^Ok. Disagree, but fair enough. I wasn't aware of the rule. Sorry.
Why a Swedish woman fucking a Filipino guy (for example) isn't tagged as IR while the same woman fucking a black man is singled out as the only instance of "IR" escapes me.
This emphasizes the idea that "black" is viewed as the only relevant "different" race, which is what I find inherently problematic.
I guess it would be a bit more consistent to refer to skin color. Something like black on white, or white on black. Not entirely consistent either (not by a long stretch), but at least it wouldn't single out a group as "the different race".
I don't "need to indentify with the male actor. It would be nice if I could on some level. I prefer watching black performers. Yes, in threesomes the black performer holds my interest more if the other dude is white. I indentify with the black performer more. I also sometimes get caught up in how much or little attention the girl gives to the black guy(s). It's also just a nice change of pace to see a black performer on screen because there was a time not that long ago that it wasn't as common as it is now. If a girl shoots a lot with black guys I tend to like the girl more (in some cases). Black guys don't always give the best performance and I watch plenty of "white on white" scenes but I still have a preference for black performers in a scene. From an artistic POV I also like the contrast of skin colors. This preference isn't really that much different than my other preferences when it comes to watching porn. I have a preference for body types. I have preferences in what I consider sexy. I have preferences in the set up of a scene. I don't "need" to always see any of those preferences but when I have options I gravitate towards those things I prefer.
If you prefer watching black performers the IR tag makes it a whole lot easier to narrow things down to the black performer you may prefer as opposed to wading through a list of blacks and non-blacks. There are certain black performers I don't particularly like watching. Go to any thread talking about IR porn and you'll se that's true of almost everyone. Also...yeah. If it's a girl who only shot one IR scene or only has shot one so far I might want o see it simply because the guy is black. Again, I prefer watching black performers so there's a chance I might want to watch that scene or know it exits regardless of who the black guy is. There are girls in the biz who prefer black men and often do their best work with black guys so I'm sometimes curious to see how a girl performers with a black guy...any black guy.
Lastly, IAFD is a database. Call me crazy but I believe a database should always be doing things to make searching for specific information easier not harder. I honestly don't use the site that much anymore but there was a time when I bought DVDs I depended on it a great deal. One of the things I helped me with was finding out if and when a girl did IR. If I was going to spend money on a DVD with only one scene I wanted to watch I want to be certain that it had what I wanted to see. There have been many many times where I saw a close-up pic of a girl and a close up shot of the penis and thought it was a black guy because of how dark it was. Only to find out later it was a white guy. Not the worst thing in the world but this was happening so often I was beginning to think they were doing it on purpose (LOL!). So I appriciate IAFD for their service. Although I don't use the site that often now and hardly ever for finding IR scenes, I do think they need to choose some other non offensive term to indentify BM/WF BF/WM scenes for those who choose to seek them out. The genre/fetish/preference is big enough to warrant it.
I disagree with you as I think it's just pandering. They could have just as easily just eliminated the filter and not said a word. Kind of like the celebrities that ladle soup for a half hour on Turkey Day, then issue a press release letting the world know they've done it versus the ones that don't need to call attention to themselves. But then, by that same logic, shouldn't the search filter also eliminate "lez only" and possible "anal" as those acts are considered deviant to a lot of people.

Sure, that's your interpretation of the events and nothing I say will change that. I think they went about it just fine, you don't, cool.
Your logic is far from sound, but sure... start a campaign, and if it gets enough momentum, they might change it. If they aren't feeling any pressure to eliminate those things you mentioned, why would they? Clearly they felt the 'IR' label was untenable for the reasons stated.
I don't understand how the introduction of a new label would be any different from simply re-introducing the old "interracial" label. I am reminded of a famous Louis C.K. bit. To paraphrase, it's like white people saying "the N-word" in place of the word they actually mean. That's nothing more than a way to get away with saying that word without actually saying it. I know what "the N-word" means, so whenever someone says "the N-word", they're just making me say the actual word in my head! Take some responsibility for the shitty words you want to say!
I'm still not 100% sure where I come down on either side of this debate, but I know at least that, for IAFD, introducing a "replacement" tag for the old interracial label would totally invalidate the decision they have made on this issue. Either keep it or get rid of it, but let's have none of this splitting of hairs. We all know what "BBC" means, or "BMWF", or "BDWC". Frankly, using any one of those labels would be cowardice. Make a choice and stick to it... and if you do eventually decide to walk back your current decision about the "interracial" label, for whatever reason, then so be it, but do so unequivocally. Anything less would be rhetorical dishonesty.
Edited by - evilpineapples on 6/14/2020 8:10:07 PM
Because interracial was never the correct word to describe that type of scene, and using it to explicitly only describe that type of scene is part of what led to the whole "black vs. everything else" stigma that they're trying to get rid of. If the goal is to treat all the scenes the same, there are/should be 2 different answers/choices. One of them, and it's the one that IAFD has chosen for the moment, is to label none of them. The other, and it's the one that some people here has suggested, is to label all of them. I don't see how they aren't both valid suggestions, and not "rhetorical dishonesty".

In many topics on this very board ,several BLACK MEN argued veemently that only Black Men/White Women can be called IR not even Black Woman White Man , so the blacks themselves cornered the genre to a small instance

So you can now magically determine who is and isn't sincere. Great.
Your absurd slipery slop argument was already addressed and rightly dismissed above. Get real.
A much more accurate example would be the industry's use of the slurs 'trannie' and 'shemale' which trans performers spoke out against and are now rarely used in the titles and scene descriptions for that subgenre.
And regardless of the sincerety of the decision, God Forbid Porn get any positive press.
All the tasteless raceplay in porn has long been used by porn's opponents on the right and left to attack it. With the rising judicial power of the right in the US the industry doing a few things to improve its PR is hardly a bad idea.
Right now the rightwing in the US is distracted with other things but when their attention turns back to porn it can get ugly real quick as any of the pornographers who lived under Nixon, Reagan or Bush Sr. and Jr. can tell you from experience.
Like I said. Western straight porn is literally a binary split of either white male performer or black male performer with the ratio being the high side of 80-20 in favour of white males. For whatever reason, other races of male are simply non existant in mainstream porn. IR has simply been a codeword for black male with any non black female and this is not a bad thing, considering that the vast majority of mainstream straight porn is white male, there is no point putting an IR tag on their scenes with non white women as it would just convulate things. Latino male performers are predominantly white Latinos, thus white males, while visibly biracial males have been put as IR, e.g. Jake Steed. There is nothng wrong with this tag what so ever. People should step back and ask themselves who really benefits from the the removal IR (meaning black male) tag. Brazzers did it ages ago and now one has no idea whether a black male performer has been in a scene if one hasn't logged on for a while. IAFD used to help with this. IR only websites mean dozens of black performers can get regular work rather than hardly any in the mainstream. Until there is genuinly a 50/50 ratio IR (meaning black male with non black female), was good, is good and will always be good.

I think the industry is not focusing the real problems with interracial porn and porn with black performers. The quality of movies is more important than a term or tag. Many interracial videos or videos with only black performers do not have good quality in my opinion. So many IR movies focus on the guy and not the girl. I don't want to hear how big his dick is or how much she prefers black men. I want to hear how hot she is. Focus on her tits and pretty face instead of the guy's dick. This is straight porn. Focus on HER.
A lot of performers say they want clip sites like Manyvids and Clips4sale to promote black creators. Are there any indie black creators with good content? I regularly purchase content at Clips4Sale and have not seen a good black creator on the site. I see a lot of poorly filmed amateur videos with models, who don't fit my standards.
Isiah Maxwell creates content for his site. His videos are too short and not worth the worth. Like his Poison Ivy cosplay scene with Maitland Ward was way too short. I'm not spending my dollar on short films. He has potential to be a good creator, but needs to put more effort into his product.
Porn also has a problem of not recruiting good looking black women. There are only a few beautiful and stunning black women in porn. Nia Nacci, Any Ivy, and Jezabel Vessir are three of the most beautiful women in the porn industry. There is regular demand for them instead of other black models in the business. There are many beautiful black women in the world, but most of them do not do porn.
I won't name anybody in respect, but I will say this. People are not regularly asking for the recent wave of black models at Brazzers. Nobody joins Brazzers for BBW content. I know Brazzers has been removing many dislikes from their BBW content of black models to not hurt anybody's feelings.
I am an African American, and I will keep it real. Porn needs to consistently bring in good looking black women if they truly want customers to have interest in black women. Every few years there is always that one smoking hot black model such as Nia Nacci, who every wants to see, and yet she is the only black model in demand. That speaks volumes of the quality of models at these agencies. Looks matter. This is the sex industry and customers care about what you look like. It's about sexual satisfaction at the end of the day.

The issue is that with the decline in porn profits due to piracy many of the better black porn production companies (e.g. Black Ice, Justin Slayer) disappeared or like WCP went into steep decline.
Brazzers is the McDonalds of porn and has never been a big source of work for black women performers.
I suspect you're misusing the word BBW as all the black women performers you mention are on the skinny side. And there are lots of beautful, slimmer black performers around like Ana Foxx, Kira Noir, Aliyah Hadid, Sarah Banks, Demi Sutra, Honey Gold and Teeana Trump. So I'm not buying that it is some lack of performers, even on the slim side.
You have a right to your preference for slimmer women but there are lots of fans who appreciate curvier women as the popularity of Masereti, Ms. Yummy and others clearly shows. I'm in favour of a wide variety of body types to suit the tastes of all fans, it isn't an either/or situation.
The peak of prominent black women performers included some slimmer performers like Misty Stone and Skin Diamond but I'd say the majority were on the curvier/big butt side like Jada Fire, Sinnamon Love, Catalina Taylor, Angel Eyes, Beauty, Roxy Reynolds, Mya G, Pinky, etc.

I respectfully disagree with the majority of women, who you listed. There is not a demand for most of those women. I agree Aliyah Hadid, and Teeana Trump, and Sarah Banks are attractive women. I think Sarah Banks retired. My list of Nia Naccia, Anya Ivy, and Jezabel Vessir feature active models or models who are listed at agencies.
I don't like hip hop culture. I don't consider product companies such as Black Ice and WCP as good production companies. That's my opinion.
I would change it but with something that it's not more complex in any way and much more useful: instead of interracial one could use bmwf (Black male/white female) or wm/bf (white male/black female). Or wmaf (white male/asian female) and bmaf (black male/asian female). Just an example. Four letters, more useful and absolutely no rocket science.
Just wow, Girls are still gonna wait forever to do IR scenes or never at all, Girls are still gonna ask for more money. Agents will still stop girls from doing it. Doesn't change a thing but make it harder to search for IR scenes. Don't understand porn getting into this political correctness when it comes to terms. When all girls will work with black talent at the start of their career and not when they hit rock bottom is when the IR term should be removed. Which will be never.
1. Never said that, I said, "I thought it was pandering" Note the "I".
2. In your opinion only
3. Such a minute specialized genre of porn that doesn't even warrant a mention IMHO
4. What positive press are you talking about? The last 3 porn related topics I've seen outside of this site are about the race car driver, Maitland, and the recent Rolling Stone article. It's a database filter and isn't newsworthy. Oh wait, #4 AVN eliminating I/R Awards.
5. What opponents of " tasteless race play" porn have been attacking porn? Do you think mainstream society remotely cares whether porn gets positive PR or not? Tasteless raceplay is a popular seller, the same with super large BBC performers and petite white girls "struggling to take it"
6. What do you mean "lived under?" We're not a recent free from an oppressive govt society. "Porn" is a buzzword that will generate a lot "clicks" on the conservative community and society in general
7. Commenting in one post about your comments to another poster. Just because you find certain performers of a certain ethnic group attractive doesn't mean everyone does and vice versa.

Your comment is very laughable. What did you read? I never said any of those things. Here is my comment again. I never said taste for curvy women is only for hip hop culture. It's laughable that you even got that impression. Curvy is not BBW, there is nothing wrong with liking both types of women if they are for you.
I suspect my tastes are shared by many customers, who want good looking black women in porn. Anya Ivy may not be your type. I can easily recognize many men to find her to be a sexy pornstar. Anya Ivy is one of the hottest women in porn in the last ten years in my opinion. How is a model such as Anya Ivy in a mirconiche? I could be rude and list many models in mirconiches. However, I will not directly mention any models, who are not my cup of tea.
Speaking for myself. I have high standards for pornstars to be beautiful and glamorous. This is sexual entertainment after all. Unfortunately, the porn industry is not seeking the best looking black women for porn. As far as I know Nia Nacci is the only active and attractive black pornstar in the business. If the porn industry truly wants inclusion and more demand for black pornstars, then they must start casting good looking black pornstars and seeking new models with good looks.

For me a dick is a dick, and i don't really care much about the color of it. What i do care is the performance of the actor, his general look, and mostly his cum load. For instance there is some black guys i like, while others like that black guy wich is all tatooed even in the face that simply distrack me and i find this so ugly i have trouble focussing on the girl. The same for white dudes, i still remember that guy who did "Rockstar Pimp/Pornstar" wich was married to Tera Patrick, peoples called him "the tatoo troll" on some board. But i don't like over tatooing, man or woman... thats me.
For some reason i really enjoy some actors while others i can't stand anymore. Sometimes in term of male actors it has to do with overexposure more than actual performances (cough...Keiren Lee... cough)
Its weird, at times some actors have been used a lot like Scott Nails or James Deen and i never grew tired of them, while others im like "him again...". Maybe because of the concept of scenes or i dunno..
Anyway...
To get back to the IR tag, like i said i don't really care if a white female performer have sex with a white male, so im not that bothered if they remove it, but i do love being able to search for hot black female performers, and would hate to see the tag "ebony" disapear. Yes if i want to search for Nia Nacci ill put her name and thats it, but sometimes new comers arrive and you discover them trough tagging on sites etc.
Some black porn consumer may enjoy for various reason to see guys that look like them have sex with hot blondes with big breast or cute little 19 years old spinners, the IR tag may help them find that.
I just think too much get link to racism lately... way too much, when its not the case.

1.Dodge because you got caught in clear overstatement. Your 'opinion' was based on a judgement of other's sincererity, but we can't judge the sincereity of your judgement? How convienent for you.
2. ''Well, that's just, like, your opinion, mannn.' - The Dude. Quite the rebuttal.
3. Whether or not Ts porn is a 'minute specialized genre of porn' is irrelevant to my point: the subenre used an offensive term and now has changed it.
4. Again you miss my point, porn could do with some positive press particularly at a time when its opponents are using the false claim that porn is 'sex trafficking' to attack it (see a recent Change.org campaign vs. Pornhub). You even present an example of how the industry's actions has attracted press attention. And you contradict yourself claiming IAFD is only doing this to look good and then dismissing the possibility that anyone will notice it.
5. I'm quite familiar with the opponents of porn and have read their attacks on it, particularly on the left a common theme is that the content and industry is racist.
6. Just because the current political climate has forgotten porn doesn't mean the pendulum won't swing the other way, and soon. Porn experienced a 'legal holiday' under Clinton to only see a series of prosecutions under Bush Jr. against Evil Angel, Rob Black and Max Hardcore among others.
The hypocrisy of the Right's heavy use of porn while pubicly condemning it has a long history, it doesn't protect porn producers from prosecution and it is naive to think it does.
If you think the US is so 'free' just ask the various pornographers who were jailed under Bush Jr. about it. That is not ancient history and we will see it return again, the Right has passed numerous anti-porn laws at the State level (declaring it a 'public health hazzard' and tying it to 'trafficking') and now have a sympathetic ear at the Supreme Court.
7. And finally, what I was arguing for is a wide range of performer types, instead of mistaking one's very personal tastes as somehow representative of 'the masses.'

What exactly did you mean by your reference to 'hip-hop culture'?
If you somehow didn't mean it in reference to the women performers why did you suddenly bring it up in a discussion on black female performers on porn forum? It is a complete non sequitur.
The rest of your post boils down to 'to make more money porn companies should book women that I, and I alone, find attractive.'
This is mistaking your tastes as somehow representative of the mass porn audience, which there is no reason to believe.
Your tastes are also so arbitrary as to be useless as a guide for any porn producer, your notion of 'beautiful' is completely opaque, to claim Anna Ivy is the only beautiful porn performer is the height of absurdity. If Ana Fox doesn't meet your standards I'd like to see the women you date, they must be Godesses.
That is why I referred to your tastes as a 'microniche' because the only standard you're using is your own highly subjective and frankly bizarre tastes.

Why did I mentioned hip-hop culture? I am not going to restate my reason. You can read the thread instead me repeating myself. You clearly did not read anything that was said and just jumped to a random conclusion. How about you actually read people's conversations and comments before speaking out of tongue?
I highly doubt anyone would think Nia Nacci and Anya Ivy are bizarre tastes. Nia Nacci is one of the most in demand black models, who people want to see. It's laughable for you to say such an ignorant comment. There is NOTHING bizarre about disliking the list of models from your list.
I'm only going to respond to these 2 points because I really don't care about the others.
Who were jailed and exactly what for?
Sounds like you're criticizing the other guy about not agreeing to your tastes with this phrase:
^ So you don't think Ana Fox and Demi Sutra or Kira Noir are beautiful women? Okay dude.

Wow! You must just really not be into black women. I think today is practically a golden age when it comes to beautiful black stars. Ana Foxxx, Sarah Banks, Kira Noir, Noemie Bilas, Kiki Minaj, Alexis Tae, Nikki Darling, Daya Knight, Cherry Hilson, Chanell Heart, Chanell Skye, Maya Bijou, Adriana Maya and I'm absolutely sure I'm leaving a bunch of girls off, are all extremely attractive black performers. And all of the ones I mentioned are also into the most hardcore sex out there. Plus there are plenty of "softer" performers like Cecilia Lion who are beautiful.

It is a decades long history but you can Google the numerous obscenity cases in the US over the decades involving the Meese Commission, Rueben Sturman, Adam & Eve, Evil Angel, Rob Black, Max Hardcore, Seymour Butts and Jim Powers' JM Productions.
And those are largely LA based companies operating in one of the few states, California, in the entire US where porn production is legally protected since the famous late 80s Freeman case.
Some went to jail, some were driven into bankruptcy and a few dodged the bullet.
Most of the more recent cases under Bush Jr. were extensively discussed right here on ADT. ADT is actually a great real time historical record of these cases. I've linked just some of the threads discussing some of the more recent cases below.
Lying? I saw the original post in question and you did remark upon the potential higher earnings of something (that is not to be discussed at ADT) over porn. While it may be matter of fact, openly writing it can be perceived as promoting that profession and moderators aren't willing to take that chance.
If you're going to accuse the mods of speaking ill of you, you should at least use the correct terminology seeing that slander is a spoken form of defamation...

IAFD removes the gender tag from their database because it's sexist & transphobic. IAFD removes the nationality tag from their database because it's xenophobic. IAFD removes the birthday tag from their database because it's ageist. etc
I remove IAFD from my searches because I'm fresh out of tolerance for rampant idiocy.
I wasn't trying to be clever. Without saying so, I'm just agreeing with the guy 2 up from that about it being a pain in the ass. It's a database search filter for a popular genre. IMHO, it's just going to lead another thread here along the lines of "Has Bunny Slippers shot any scenes with African Americans?" Or each individual thread is going to have that same question asked a few times on each page.

we'll see what happens, if it proves a bad/unpopular change, I'm sure they'll be willing to listen and address it in some way. they'd welcome suggestions no doubt.
all I've seen so far is people complain about convenience, they don't actually engage the core issue about whether it is fundamentally right or wrong. well, sure, many people found no longer being able to have slaves to be a major inconvenience... I wonder if ending slavery was the right thing to do.
Did IAFD ask black people how they felt about this? black customers, black producers, black performers, other black industry personnel? or did they decide it's whats best for black people?
"IR" is shortspeak for "interracial". In the real world the term is used to mostly identify couples of different races/minorities. Porn isn't the real world. Porn is build around fetishes and fantasy. The people who watch porn usually have specific fantasies they are into. If there's a database listing porn performers/catagories/dates and other data some people see that database doing a dis-service and taking a step backwards in changing something that makes a popular genre harder to find. In the real world the term "interracial" isn't seen by most people as offensive. In the real world the term is not used to only specify a black/african/brown skinned and white/caucasian couple. In porn we have a different story. The term "IR" is used to in most cases to identify mostly pairings of black people and non black people. OMG! Why is this horrible thing happening?! Why doesn't porn be just like the real world and label any and every race/minority intermingling as "IR"? Well, maybe for labelling purposes it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Since there isn't a whole lot of male Asian performers in the biz that would mean all the Asian girls scenes would be "IR" scenes. From a labelling/identifying standpoint what would be the point in doing that? Same with Latina girls. There are more Latin male performers than Asian but still that would mean the vast majority of Latina girls would have their scenes labelled "IR". I understand this sort of thing would make some people extremely happy but for the rest of rest of the sensible thinking fanbase this would mostly be a big waste of time. And of course once we go down the list of races, minorities, nationalities, birth places and so on we'll end up with the IR tag applying to about 70% of all scenes out there. And we'll still have have the fans who seem to love nothing more than pointing out who's really "black", "Asian", "Latina" etc., etc., etc... Yes, the "IR" tag/term doesn't mirror the way the word is used in the real world because it would be impractial. What would be the point of labelling every actual interracial couplling as such? To make the tag become meaningless to satisfy those who have decided that the word is offensive because they projected their own twisted midset to the term? The way the "IR" tag has been used in porn is/was doing just fine and even the people who seem bothered by the word even use it to identify that specific type of pairings. Maybe if porn labelling/identifications were just starting up there might be a better way to single out a black/non-black scene...But what we have seems to work.
And again....If IAFD is really about rid of offensive names, I hope they've did something with the titles like "BLACKZILLA" and THICKA THA A N****A (or whatever it's called) and the other movies titles that have actual clearly offensive names. Not delete their listing but use astriks or whatever when listing them. And maybe they already do and I'm simply not aware of it. I personally don't care if they leave them as is but if they're going to claim getting rid of unfavorable racial terms I think their efforts should lean in that direction first and foremost. I hate picking on IAFD like this but I just feel this isn't a practical move for them.

^ you've created an artificial argument and then successfully debated with yourself... well done I guess...?
if you read their statement, in no way was it stated that their reasoning was because the 'IR tag is offensive.' It was removed because it has been historically inaccurate. yes, a replacement should probably be forthcoming, but one issue is more pressing than the other.
