I believe gonzo porn by definition means the performers acknowledge the camera, audience, and or director, so that there isn't really any commitment to selling a dramatic scene. Gonzo means performers portrayed as performers, not characters. When you get more into characterization, plots, and scripts, then you venture away from gonzo into "feature" style scenarios, or dramatization. HardX from my experience following them has always been gonzo, and quite outstanding at it. I don't know if Mason is helming all of these DarkX scenes as well, but I've always felt she was a terrific director, and many of these DarkX scenes look highly promising. But all of the trailers I just watched for DarkX feature scripts and plots. They are dramatized scenarios, a la Blacked. However, unlike Blacked, the camera work seems to be more gonzo-style, which means more handheld shots and more dynamism in the presentation. If you ignore the dramatized setup and the dialogue, just looking at the core sex scene based on how it is shot, it appears to be gonzo-style. But I believe it is not, because if you look at the camera work for the setups, it does not seem like gonzo, due to the use of some staged shots and scripted lines. So this is quite an interesting approach, blending both the gonzo style and the narrative/dramatic style. I noticed Blacked has also been venturing more into this blended style as well. While their approach is still definitely dramatized, the camera work has incrementally become more dynamic and creative over the last year. They are definitely following the quality over quantity path, with the more glamorous and professional look as opposed to the old-school method of typical IR. But I think BlackIsBetter is more comparable to TeensLoveBlackCocks, at least at this point. They're both looking really good and definitely going in the right direction, however I would say DarkX is even more closely comparable to Blacked. Mason is really that good. Out of all these new sites so far I think DarkX looks like the most capable of giving Blacked a run for their money. It says something that a rep for Blacked actually mentioned this site in advance, saying heads up. [Link]

Click to expand Acknowledging the camera used to be pretty central to the definition of gonzo, but I think over time the term has evolved to mean scenes just shot in a hand-held style featuring hard, fast-paced sex. That's how I often see the term used. For example, Brazzers' scenes often have a set-up, albeit one that's absurd and trying for humor, but once the fucking begins it's very much gonzo style. So I don't think lack of acknowledgement of the camera and a story are enough to say something isn't gonzo anymore. I was having some computer issues when the DarkX preview page was live, so I only saw Remy's preview. One difference I noticed from Blacked is that the story had more of a darker tone. Rico was breaking into Remy's place and was kind of threatening, which isn't something I think we've seen from Blacked. So perhaps DarkX will further differentiate itself from Blacked with more dark and perverse fantasy set-ups. That would be par for the course for Mason. [Link]

At first, I was thinking "wait, is this what the site is all about?" and I wasn't sure if it would work. But then I watched a couple more trailers, and it was clear to me they are experimenting with various themes on top of IR, or within it rather, or at least to the best they can. I think that's good, to mix it up so not every scene is like "home invasion followed by violation" lol. Granted, that Adriana preview was only a minute and a half, but based on that I think they did it right. Adriana is a real bona-fide freak so I trust she loved that scene. [Link]

As of now the male talent was Prince Mandingo, Rico, Isaiah, & Jon Jon Everything I saw I was pleased with in terms of quality, myself personally I don't care for stories because they tend to be cheesy. I hope DarkX continues to use established stars to build their site, and I hope they don't shy away from some of the things their competition does: Tattoos, fake boobs, curvier women. The only negative I saw was they used the "intruder" storyline in 2-3 scenes, something I don't like personally. @PornDynasty [Link]

I find Blacked annoying sometimes with how much they stick to the same old play-book where positions and stuff are concerned so i'm hoping Darkx will have a lot more flexibility in that department too. All in all it's just fantastic to see the IR genre get the attention it deserves from all these new high class websites. [Link]

After looking at the trailers the scenes look good but I don't care much for the plots and the static camera shots. But I will say I do like how they seem to use more varied positions and angles compared to Blacked. But I hope future scenes are shot like the Sara Luvv one, more gonzo style like Hard X or have a good mix between the two. Another thing I noticed is that only 1 out 12 scenes had anal, hope they don't go light on anal scenes. One thing I like about Hard X are the frequent anal scenes. And like others have said I'd like to see them shot a wide variety of girls. And I'll like to see them shoot some of these new girls that have IR on their cards but hardly or take a long time to get booked for it. [Link]

Click to expand Flash and Jason Brown are both under contract with Blacked, possibly Michael Williams too , none of them is working for anybody else This may be the main reason for shooting with some other talents , furthermore Mason very often worked and apparently still does with Rico and Jon Jon and is also one of those Mandingo likes to work with All in all she has a good roster of black male talents already [Link]
