I don't mind story buildup as long as there's enough sex action to make up for it.

I love a bit of story and the filmic type of content. Deeper is probably my favorite site at the moment. For me the perfect balance story-action was the Deeper Drive series. Kayden should see Summer Camp Girls 1983 that recently came out on bluray. I'd love to see that recreated with todays stars. Could easily be cut in 4 scenes. Definitely keep it interesting with locations. We have too many bed or couch scenes in porn. I want to feel that it's spontaneous in the moment where lust takes over.
Just watched the Emily Willis, Maitland Ward, Mick Blue scene and it may have been the best scene I've watched all year. Absolutely fantastic! Dialogue in porn can obviously be super hot if the scenarios are hot. PureTaboo, especially with some of the older scenes did that well, but Deeper is trying too be too artistic sometimes I feel.

And I disagree on the point in bold. Companies make decisions all the time that aren't necessarily in their best interests. Right now corporations are alienating people left, right and centre chasing a mythical perfect public image in polarized times.
Perhaps VMG are under the impression that hiring a former mainstream actress, who can garner them mainstream coverage and social media reach, is a subscription driver. But, as has been suggested in recent posts, Deeper appears to also be very indulgent towards its creators, who clearly have their eyes set on industry awards and status (Kayden Kross has won Best Director at the AVN's two years in a row and is clearly after a third).
So I don't necessarily buy that they've crunched all the numbers and determined that they must hire Maitland Ward because she's a huge subscription driver; over the possibility that other reasons, such as that the director/producers like working with her and think that she gives their productions an air of mainstream credibility and professionalism, are behind her hiring.
I mean, we do actually have some available statistics of our own to gauge the popularity of Maitland and her scenes. Currently she's ranked 27th on Deeper's list of female performers, behind people like Avery Cristy, Kenna James, Adriana Chechik, Adria Rae, Emily Willis, Scarlit Scandal, Gabbie Carter and so on.
Also, her scenes so far have been rated from a high of 9.4 down to a low of 7.6. The average rating of her scenes is lower than all the performers mentioned above.
Do I think she's popular? Sure.
Do I think she's more popular and a bigger subscription driver than other performers? No.
Do I think she's getting a second elaborate showcase because Kayden Kross and the producers at VMG are obsessed with her and making elaborate, indulgent cinematic porn to win awards? Yes.
I enjoy the build-up too. I much prefer porn with a plot to 90% of gonzo porn. I can watch JAV porn and enjoy the storylines without understanding a word the performers are saying to one another. I just find the Deeper plots over-elaborate, pretentious and unsexy.

But Deeper tries too hard and it comes across as cringy more than hot. Take the recent Avery Cristy scene with Troy Francisco. The basic setup was he's locked up in a chastity cage and she unlocks him and blows him out of view at a high-end party... but between the bad angles at not showing him locked up or Avery unlocking him, and there being practically no implied tension of getting sexual in a public setting, the whole plot fell flat.
She does 3-5X more sales. SM009 I'm not disagreeing with you about your opinions of the deeper product. I too think it is overindulgent, wasteful, boring, and over-rated. For Maitland to be hitting 6 figures a month, she'd theoretically require a much higher (although still fairly low) bleedover of about 2.5% of her Twitter subs or 0.8% of her Instagram subs to hit the mark. I'm not saying it's out of the question, obviously, but these are good examples of just how few follows on social media translate to paid subscriptions. And as mentioned earlier, a Deeper subscription is $25+ as opposed to Maitland's $8 OnlyFans.
I can't say how closely ratings correlate to subscriptions, but you would expect a performer who's a reliable subscription driver to be one of the highest ranked performers/scenes, especially if you're going to bestow multiple showcases/series upon them.
I just feel everything about this site's production gives off a vibe of it being made for those producing it, not for the subscribers.
