Finally got around to watching episode 2 of the GW vampire mini-series and this time around the acting was really painful to watch. Hopefully the reason why Shyla's character is blind gets explained in the third episode because up to now it's a useless prop to the overall story and the performer is simply not a good enough actress to pull it off. Blind people don't look in the direction of movement because they can't see anything. I guess they really wanted to shoot a lesbian scene between Shyla and Abigail and they didn't want it to be incestuous but did they really have to come up with the most asinine way to do it. If you are going to shoot an incestuous sex scene then do it but don't come up with this idiotic premise that Shyla and Abigail are not sisters but step-sisters and to make it even less incestuous. Abigail is the daughter of their father from a previous marriage and Shyla is the daughter of their mother from a previous marriage and somehow Shyla never knew that. Fuck me but that make no sense when they are about the same age. Shyla is blind not stupid. She would have known that Abigail wasn't her sister. The cherry on top of this crap sundae. The funny thing about it all is that's mainstream now. I'm not into Games of Thrones whatsoever, though I did hear about the final couple of episodes as it was hard to avoid anyway online and IRL (that's all I read about on Twitter the night the final episode of season 7 was out!), and they cover incest lol. ^ I've got to agree with everything Pat wrote. This series has been a big disappointment for me considering who the stars were. Maybe, like a Hollywood movie, everything starts with the script and this one was lackluster even by porn standards. I'm a huge GirlsWay fan but this one was bad on so many levels. Hopefully, they've learned some lessons from this one and the next series will be better.
Gonna have to agree with the both of you. Last year's Faces of Alice was way better than this feature. Looks to me like they bit off more than they could chew. Should stick to those 3 to 4 episode mini-series
I think the features outside of The Turning and this have different yet related issues that fundamentally bring the quality down. fringster metioned Alice so I'll use that as an example since it really is the perfect example of the feature mismanagement. That, such as Vampires, has an absolute all-star cast. The problem with Alice was that the story was written in a way where only Sara really got to shine. I think part of it was that Bree wanted Sara to be the focus for obvious reasons, but it was at the expense nobody else in that having an actual character and the overall product suffering as a result. Pandora, Missing, and Little Red just had twists for the sake of twists and especially in the case of Pandora and Missing just didn't make any logical sense to where one could suspend disbelief by the end of them. Here, the roles are more balanced and so far at least doesn't try to be smarter than it actually is, but the script needed a lot of work and the girls are incredibly miscast outside of Melissa, Jelena, and Serena (without seeing Part 4 yet and Angela's character I can't comment there). Abi's suited so well for comedy, but this doesn't play up the laughs enough to really work to her strengths. The only time Shyla can be passable acting is in a scene like her recent one with Keisha where her lines are limited to under a minute and the rest is sex. Then, her performances are just stale to the point where all of her performances are cookie cutter to ones she gave 5-6 years ago. I mentioned earlier how Georgia and Carter had nothing to work with, but even then you can tell in Carter's performances that unless there's something in the script that excited her, she's checked out in her performances except for the sex. In addition to that, there were tweets where Alan and the girls were talking about having 14-16 hour days shooting this, and at that point you're just not going to get good performances even when the casting and script are on point. Personally, I'd love to see with the synergy between Sweetheart and Girlsway through the contract girl sharing to see Dana write a script for a GW feature. Her directing style for me doesn't really hit home, but her stories are typically really good. Since Alan signed that new exclusive contract this week I doubt we'll see a director outside of the team, but I think an outside prospective for the writing shouldn't be off the table.
^I haven't seen enough of Vampires to judge it as a whole, but what stood out for me (in the little I've seen) is Shyla's acting, it's just really distracting and takes me out of the story. I get that she's popular and I'm not saying that I expect Academy Award winning acting from anyone in porn, but if you are going to spend that much time and money surely the lead should go to someone who's got some acting skills. It's the same problem as they had with the feature where Riley Reid was the lead. Don't really see why Shyla is playing a blind person either. A vampire story taking place in sunny California just seems slighty odd too. I can't say I see Dana bringing anything to the table that GW doesn't do already. Since I feel that the overall quality at Sweetheart have declined in recent times I haven't really watched their content on a regular basis in a while so things might have changed tho. If you look at the 3 current episodes from GW Vampire feature. You see that each episode is held by the tinniest of threads because the only performers that have been in each video is Abigail and Shyla and only Abigail has sex in those 3 episodes so technically speaking you can look at each episode more as a vignette than an integral part of a complete feature film. In fact the story is so badly developed that you are probably better off taking each episode as a stand alone.

Really agree what it's being said on the feature front. Turning was fantastic, and it's been quite hit n miss since. As for Dana, I think she's lost her spark. Hit the wall. Call it what you will. Would I be against her directing fir Girlsway? No. But I'd be concerned if she churned out some of her Sweetheart Video stuff. I do think there's a chance perhaps working under a different studio might reignite that spark though.I'm half surprised it'd be heralded by many Girlsway members.
