Pitbull: if it were simply a matter of people "mourning" her departure, that would be one thing. But it's not. It's people openly speculating what else she could do that might not screw her up so badly but still allow us to get our rocks off. As if her just simply stopping is just off the table. It's people essentially saying, "well, she's already fucked up her life, may as well stick it out for several more years and cash out" It's saying "quitting was an even worse mistake than joining". Sorry, but that's some messed up shit. Mourn away (though I do find even that a bit odd), it's just the blatant commentary on how and why someone should continue to get fucked on camera for our pleasure if they're simply not into it. The industry has come a long way and that's a good thing. But part of that is not shaming or coercing women to do things they're not in to. And I feel that some here are certainly crossing that line.

I agree with you 100%, although with the booming of social media this connection between performer-audience changed so as the marketing tactics around it (branding).but I definitely disagree about this my fellow poster. Unfortunately they DON'T do a job like most of us do. This is exactly what I am actually trying to achieve by writing all these dramatic stuff. There are many sanitary dangers on this job and lots lots lots of psychological pressure. The models need to make many sacrifices to please public's appetite and sometimes this has tremendous effects in their lives. There is no need of course to mention social stigma. Things are generally not that bad, because the majority of adult companies are as much professional as they can be, the agents do care about their models and there are many scenes where the actresses do enjoy every second of their time. However there are cases where the implications are much worse than I described. The problems are real my friend and they are complicated. But the heart of them are not the lions, the gladiators or the arena builders. I focus its center in the twisted mentality. I strongly believe that if everyone thought of pornstars as real human personalities who have feelings, physical limits, character weaknesses, families and future these problems would be a lot less.

Lana always used to tweet or mention in interviews that she didn't like LA and found Chicago better. Feeling homesick also I guess added to worsening her health and depression.
^^ People seem to assume that everyone responds to porn and the pornstars in the same way as them. When you see others respond in different ways it may seem weird and it's easy to ridicule or get aggressive with these people. The fact that you might not 'get' why a certain person feels that way doesn't make it sick or wrong.......just different! It's been fascinating seeing how Lana has so fallen out of love with porn after initially seeming so enthusiastic and how so many different people have responded. I was born and raised in Chicago. Lived there "full time" for 18 years until I went off to college, then another 4 years post college and have now been in Los Angeles for 3 years. Really, all cities and experiences are based on what you make it. I love Chicago, miss it a lot. But I also love LA. It's unique, it's fun, there's more/different things to do here and the weather is obviously much better. Lana clearly had a much different (and unfortunately negative) experience with Los Angeles than I have had. I am sure her physical issues from her entry into the porn industry and everything else that goes along with the "non glamorous" side of porn contributed to the things she hates about Los Angeles. In addition, through twitter interactions she mentioned she misses the changing of seasons and fall/winter.
I feel like this thread is in a negative place right now and no one has written anything because they don't want to say anything mean anymore lol But on a happy note, I've just noticed that Lana's birthday is in 2 days!!! Woohoo! Hope she has a blast for her 20th! :)

Not many porn consumers can understand why certain viewers are so attached to specific stars. Well I am not gonna analyze you why this human characteristic is the basic principle of the advertising, of show biz in general, social media, reality shows etc etc.. Whoever knows about porn he can easily confirm it. Lana is already a legend. She is a creature of rare natural beauty and her eagerness to please every on screen partner of hers created the image of a very promising future. Well I thought I would comment here since I just heard of this news. I never became a fan of Lana but I have followed this thread on her sometimes just because she was such a popular new star. Good luck to Lana, I think she made the right decision if she was that unhappy. And I give much thanks to her for clearing things up with her post. For those that are distraught over her retirement - I know how you feel. Im a fan of maybe less than 5 girls in the industry, but if I counted all the one and dones in the industry I would easily be a fan of more than 20 girls. Amy Parks was my latest favorite that retired very early.

While maybe I am as fascinated as some people about Lana and as distraught about her retiring since she was my no. 1 favorite and I her found her to be one of the prettiest woman on the planet regardless of porn, I think I too am finding things going a bit creepy over here. @Stargeek, you have basically summed up the whole thread in a single post, don't know how u managed it but I have to commend you on that but also the other fact is that you have been repeating the same point you made in your previous post again and again, and its now starting to appear kinda creepy, cringy and stalk-ish. I do understand the fascination though and I do agree with your point on her being the "Biggest impact pornstar of the social media era." I have seen this fascination for her not just here but on some of the other forums that I am part of too, she definitely was something special and had the potential to be one of the "greats" of porn. But well, things do not go as we think of, do they. The only thing we can do now is wish Lana the best in whatever her endeavors are. I too wish that Lana posted once in a while here or maybe start using her social media again even if she didn't do porn, but if she doesn't want to do it and she wants to just move on with her life in a different manner, you need to accept and respect that too. Now you can freely discuss and express your opinion about her performances, but my friend, you cannot criticize a person because he has certain feelings about her, just because you don't feel the same way. This is beyond... insanity. It is like you criticize a certain sport team fan, a Harley Davidson club member, a pilgrim or a person who is in love with someone else. Using the same logic I could not understand how is possible YOU not to feel mesmerized when you stare at her eyes. But I cannot say that because you simply don't. So like I do not judge you or everyone else about his feelings or personal preferences I except to not do the same for me. Now. The relation between a public figure and his/her fans is very special. You will not understand it, unless you are a fan, you have actually met and talked to a public person or you are one yourself. It is a relation of mutual dependence and appreciation. That is another issue I will not write about now. Everyone has the right to express his/her admiration to a certain performer in social media as long as he is not becoming a threat to her privacy and is not insulting anyone else. Now every model, director, producer or agent in the adult industry, every artist, sport club, politician, leader or dogma has its fan base. The social media grew because of the followers and several collateral industries (advertising, marketing, reality shows, tabloids) are exploiting the relation between the public figure and his fans.
