^^I see. Personally I don't view the restraints and video equipment as damning evidence, although the latter would be daming if child pornography were to be found. I don't know what the other supposed evidence is, so although it may be damning it seems to me that it may not be damning at all. I suppose we'll eventually hear what the evidence is if there isn't a plea arrangement. If the case goes to trial, I'll be interested to know what both sides, the defense and the prosecution, have to say.

^^The cops and prosecutors are making a claim about there being a large amount of corroborating evidence, but that claim is as yet unproven. Perhaps the claim will be effectively proven in court and the result will be a guilty verdict, but if that's not what happens and the prosecution loses the case that wouldn't necessarily imply dishonesty on their part.

^ Maybe damming wasn't the right word in terms of the evidence. The fact that those things were found and the victim collaborates the story could be damming in the long run for Mercedes. Like you said if they are to find child pornography that they filmed well then we are talking about even another major issue ro an already disgusting act of sexual abuse.

I agree with you. Why would the child lie about something like this? The fact that evidence was found and it corroborates the victim's story makes me believe (like you) that it happened.

As I read Melinda's statement again, does anyone else find it odd that she mentions "(a fundamentalist Christian)" about her ex? Its like she is deflecting the attention off of herself and blaming it on his religion. I just find it interesting how/why she included that in her statement.

Yes, I did notice that. It may be a deflection, it may not.

I would wager that this thread is being monitored closely and that a lock would be forth coming if we are not prudent about squabbles over differing points of view........

Shit when did i turn into my dad......

Edit:
The guns are not an issue unless they are not registered.
The meth, that may be the ultimate kill shot here. No, I am not downplaying the abuse, but without physical evidence, that's a harder proof factor.
They found meth. California really hates that stuff.

Well,if they did a physical exam of the minor and it confirms she's been abuse. There's your evidence but they havn't said anything about that.

I'll say this I don't think the police would charge them if they didn't think there was sufficient evidence. If anything it would have just been gun and drug charges only. Still serious but not as heinous.

^ Also the fact that they haven't been released and are being held without bail is telling too. People do awful things and can have a bail although its usually astronomical so the police might think they are a flight risk or they could tamper with evidence.

I also disapprove of removing content on the basis that it involves someone who has committed offenses.

Speaking of which, I think that Blacked has a couple more unreleased scenes featuring Julio Gomez, who is about to go back to prison for violating parole. Hell, his latest case is so confoundingly knuckleheaded, even if he wasn't already on parole, he still would be looking at prison. That dude is mental. The world is paying him to fuck the finest pussy in porn, but instead he sexually assaults some old bag in a lobby.

Anyway, fuck his life. I still want to see those scenes. I believe paying customers deserve them and I see no reason why Blacked has to eat the costs. It's not like they are responsible for his fuck ups. But because he fucks up, Blacked has to pay for it? I'm saying fuck that.

Should all copies of Chinatown be destroyed on account of Polanski's rape case? It would be one thing if we were talking about solo content, which the artist/creator owns and draws all profits from. But these porn scenes are collaborative works with several parties involved, and unless you're trying to charge them all with Julio's crime, there should be no compunction about letting them profit off the scene he happened to be a part of. It's not like they could predict what he would later do. It's not like they are responsible.

If I work on a group project, and one of my collaborators was later found guilty of some dumb shit, why does that mean my work, and that of most of the other people involved who are also innocent, must be wasted? If people feel like they don't want any profit to go toward Julio, that's fine. Put the proceeds, or estimated net gross of the piece, toward a charity or something. These works have value, and all but one of the people involved are innocent and deserve to profit off it as they normally would. I think some performers might object on a case by case basis, but if it was me, I wouldn't. I would refuse to accept blame for someone else's wrongs. And if one of his costars felt gross about it, then they can donate their pay and raise awareness. I would do the latter regardless, but the former? No. Hell it would be interesting if Blacked could sue Julio for damages. I'm assuming they can't do that.

Sorry for this tangent! But I feel it is germane to the subject of how the alleged abuser's content should be dealt with.

I just don't see why associated parties who are totally innocent and not involved in the offense must eat the cost, effectively paying for it and becoming collateral victims. I'm pretty sure Bangbros still has their scenes with Ramon on their site, and he was convicted of animal abuse on what I think was felony charge. It wasn't the fault of Bangbros.

I am interested to know what others think.

^ I disagree with you. Brazzers took a stand...its all about money in this world and they will lose some but its not like they aren't making lots of it Same thing goes for Blacked, they can eat the money too. It doesn't always have to be about the money and if people are upset that subscribe oh well. Sure they are not responsible for his actions but why should they associate themselves with him? Same thing for Brazzers and Mercedes. So people don't see a few scenes big deal there are plenty of other performers to watch that haven't done disgusting things. If I was a fan of Mercedes (glad I am not) I would have already deleted all of my scenes of her. If this guy is in trouble Blacked should not even have him but its like the NFL. Kareem Hunt pushes a woman boom Cheifs did the right thing and cut him. They ate money and I would not want him on my team. But surely someone will sign him. I applaud Brazzers for removing all her content. Good for them they aren't concerned about losing money cuz a few people wanna see her content. Other companies should do the same. I just checked and Naughty America still has her scenes up. Like I said it's not the companies fault people do these things just like it wasn't the Chiefs fault Hunt pushed a woman but its the companies that have to take a stand and deal with it how they want to. In this case Brazzers removed her content and I am glad they did.

Every company is going to react in their own way. Assuming this is all factual, I have no issue with a company taking down scenes they do not want to be associated with, it's their business.
You as the consumer, have the right to purchase or not. That's about as far as it goes.

Do these sites like Brazzers, RK, TeamSkeet, etc. all pay royalties? I was under the impression they were paid at filming of the scene and then done.

^^^^I wonder if Mercedes has been scrubbed from all MindGeek sites or just Brazzers?

At the very least Brazzers could have polled their members before making a decision. I only heard about Julio's arrest in passing and didn't follow the case at all, but if Blacked and BlackedRaw are in a similar situation then Lansky should poll members about what they want. The censorship is bad enough without just eliminating content all of a sudden without consulting members or even warning them. Aside from the censorship issue there's the matter of respecting the subscribers who are paying you. The people who run Brazzers have repeatedly proven that they don't have that respect. Porn producers who aren't assholes should studiously ignore their shitty example.

Same here. Some people just can't resist about making everything political and it is annoying as hell.

And I'm still not sure how she is a white supremacist, unless the person who tossed out that claim is implying anyone who is not a liberal is automatically a "white supremacist" no matter their skin color.

Off the top of my head, I'm guessing they were referring to her allegiances with people like Gavin McInnes, Milo, and Paul Joseph Watson who are all relatively high-profile media people that espouse various brazenly racist & xenophobic worldviews.

It's damning evidence if part of the story is that they filmed the child in a restraint harness. And pornography charges may still be incoming. I'm sure the computers in the house were seized, but it will take the tech guys a few days to go over the hard drives which will also include going into DOS systems and trying to recover any deleted files. That takes time.

Look I want to believe Mercedes. I don't want her to go to prison if she's innocent and I hope that didn't happen to her daughter. It's possible that this is a story made up by her ex. However at this point I don't believe that her ex planted meth and firearms in the house, and the police finding them does nothing to help her credibility.

Article in The Daily Beast about her arrest & background. Apparently Carrera regularly accused her online interlocutors of being "pedophiles". Pretty on the nose, although that's not the most surprising thing to me. That's become a popular insult among some edgelord types online.

Great quote. It's like when Lady Gaga ridiculously apologised for working with R Kelly back in 2011. She did not know of the allegations (still no convictions) levied at him so imo she had no reason to apologise. If my colleague X does a heinous crime, I'm not going to apologise for working with him/her if I had no idea of what they had done. What Mercedes and Julio Gomez supposedly did in their respective crimes was horrible and if they are guilty they should face lengthy jail terms but that said, porn is fantasy and porn producers are punishing their paying customers by removing their content without notice. I still hope Mercedes is innocent and gets justice. But if she is guilty I obviously hope justice is served too.

People have known about R Kelly's predilections for over 20 years. It's just that no one cared until the past couple. He married Aaliyah almost 25 years ago. The sex tape where he peed on an underaged woman was around 20 years ago. What's new isn't what he's been doing, its the level to which victims are actually willing to talk about it. That's what the need for apology is for, for ignoring everything we already knew which allowed him to prey on even more women in the meantime.

Also, while Mercedes story does have the appearance of being believable, it doesn't really line up with what else has been reported. As someone already stated, if this were really just about a custody battle, then the drugs themselves would have been enough for the ex-husband to gain custody, and you wouldn't need the other accusations to get someone to take the drug accusation seriously. There's no need to add a child abuse charge on top of that. We'll find out what the evidence looks like once/if it goes to trial, but I'm on the side of being really skeptical of the story she's put out there.

Agreed. Also just to correct the record, Gaga worked with R.Kelly in 2013 and was asked about the allegations against him while promoting the song, to which she not only shrugged it off but suggested that the reporting of R.Kelly's predatory behavior was "untrue". For someone who has vocally championed anti-domestic violence campaigns, it's not unreasonable to scrutinize why she chose to glide past that one. But circling it back to Mercedes, companies can make whatever determination they want with the product they're selling. If they feel it's a PR liability to continue hosting her scenes, they're going to yank them. It's not a particularly complicated matter. I suppose if a consumer is somehow indignant that a private company doesn't wish to be associated with an alleged child molester that's currently being charged, they could always boycott that company. But I'm gonna go ahead and assume that pool of people will be dramatically small.

I think these decisions aren't based on PR. I think it's more of a risk assessment and avoiding any potential liability. The publicly available details and evidence supporting the charges are vague. These sites host so much content they can't possibly review it all and know the circumstances behind its production. If there's a remote possibility that some content was produced in the presence of a minor (like the kid walked into the room during filming) you don't want to be connected to it in any way and especially don't want to be profiting from it.

A quick recent history of risk aversion lessons in adult content: When Max Hardcore, JM Productions and Rob Black were indicted on obscenity charges the movies listed in the indictments disappeared from retail outlets everywhere. No one had been convicted, no court had made a determination that the movies were indeed obscene. But no one would risk selling them. The DOJ is known to use criminal indictments as a basis to raid retailers and distributors known to have sold the movies/content. The retailers have to lawyer up at great expense to defend themselves. (Five Star DVD eventually went out of business because of this.)

You can't really be sure what the domino effect of criminal charges can lead to in this industry. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Ahhh I never thought about the liability angle. I guess it could further complicate matters if the charges are indeed true and they were filming other normal videos that are hosted on major sites when her child was on the premises (then again, I'm not an attorney so I wouldn't be able to tell what kind of culpability exists there).

I could see that as a reasoning for something like ManyVids or OnlyFans taking down her pages. But it looks like Brazzers have taken down all her scenes, and all of those would have been shot by Brazzers directors on a set controlled by a Brazzers director, so there'd be no chance of them having any legal risk there. Taking those videos down would solely be a PR move, not a legal one.

That's the next court date. Highly unlikely the trial starts that day.

Notice the charges involving the 14 year old were either pushed back or dropped.

This isn't good.

There is no court date yet for the charge pertaining to the 14 year old, but the fact that those charges were introduced after the initial arrest and charges suggests that there was at least something to those reports about the police suspecting that more victims may be involved. Of course, that's an open question so we won't know what evidence they have to back it up until the trial actually starts.

I don't believe her story about being framed by her ex for a minute, and she's almost certainly going down for the guns and the meth. But even if she somehow magically survives all of this and is acquitted, her career is OVER and she is FINISHED. There are a lot of scandals, crimes and accusations/allegations that people can ride out, or if they can't weather the storm, they can go away for awhile and then attempt to stage a comeback; for a lot of people they luck out and after dropping out of sight for awhile, they can actually pull it off and come back.

But child molestation/sexual abuse is a line drawn in concrete, and once you cross it that's it for you. You're done. Even if you're accused and people THINK you crossed it, that's it. Add in the fact that Mercedes worked in the adult industry and it becomes clear that there's no way she'll ever work in porn again. Who would hire her? If she tried to make her own videos, who would shoot for her? Do sound for her? Who would want their adult brand/website/studio associated with the woman who sexually abused a minor? Even if she made her own content, who would host it and want to be affiliated with her? Nobody would ever START watching her after this, with that horrible mental association she would bring.

Honestly, I think she's guilty as sin, and she and Cins are going down for good. But even if she is exonerated LEGALLY, this taint will never wash off her, and will haunt her wherever she goes and whatever she does. She'd better learn to code or weld in prison-- if she doesn't get shanked in the showers-- because her days in the adult industry are definitively over, no matter how this ultimately ends.

^Not that long ago Marsha May got convicted of these sort of crimes and although it seems like she hasn't been hired in porn since(despite her disgusting attempts to come back after deflecting and refusing to take responsiblity for her crimes) and somehow she didn't get much of a backlash on here and some were even hoping to see her come back. Not sure why the response to this case is different.

I've been following this out of curiosity as to how the sentiment would develop. I think some people have full disassociation, I'll say at best for lack of a better term, and taboo association at the other end of the spectrum.

I think Mercedes and Marsha May are both very attractive and up there as performers, and I've watched and will probably rewatch their scenes. I think both of their crimes are unconscionable and beyond reproach, but they're never on my mind when I'm watching them fuck. So for me it's a disassociation in those cases.

Alternatively, there have been starlets who've done things that I became privy to and it DID add an element to watching them perform. It was the taboo association of "wow, this chick is crazy" and being exposed to the natural intimateness of sex with someone that out of whack that provided an added kick to the experience psychologically. Didn't mean that I condoned what they did in these cases either, but it made it fascinating nonetheless.

Interesting to see other takes on the matter.

^From what I remember she took part in getting 12 and 13 year olds to have sex with them and eachother after getting them hooked on drugs and alcohol. I don't see that as any different than what Mercedes is ACCUSED(it hasn't been proven while marsha was convicted and admitted everything) of and she should have definitely been in prison over this, she got off extremely lightly. Lets not cherrypick when it comes to morality here. Either sex crimes involving kids is unforgivable or it's not.
