^i don't really care about video quality it'll get better with time as long as I get two people fucking I don't care who really they're all interchangable I jerk off and go about my day. Nothing I really feel the need to invest money in. Its not like I'm paying to see The Dark Knight or something where I'm willing to pay.

The first clip I [TBD] added another goddess to my collection, Zoey Andrews. Wow. Taller than Lex. Tan and Blonde with a Southern accent. that combination of features holds a special place in my heart.

whoa bro, I'm pretty sure it's not cool to write "illegally viewed" next to my name. Isn't ***Hunter a legal referral site? Unless you're answer is 100% legal certainty, please refrain from writing on public forums that I'm doing something "illegal". I'll let you change your wording.

[Mod edit: I once again obscured the name of the site. See my post below. See also in the same post below my explanation of how I can be 100% certain that it's illegal. But in fairness to you, I didn't need to write "illegally viewed". I apologize.]

Ok this is why I've been monitoring this thread for the last several months. You'll notice I've just edited the last few posts to remove the names of sites which deal in illegally sharing copyrighted material. It goes against policy here at ADT to share that kind of information, or to promote or encourage that type of activity. Don't do it.

If everyone stopped buying porn then no one would make it anymore.
It would end up being all amateur shit freaks (good freaks) at home would shoot themselves and upload just to be naughty. While some people really enjoy that kind of shit many still would like to see better quality stuff with the stars they love to watch.

sorry about that...didn't know about that rule. But, are you sure these are all thief sites? How do you know the diff between sites that steal clips versus sites that get their clips from companies as a referral site? (like FreeOnes or AskJolene?) Also...what about the url's in the initial post?

As a general rule, affiliates can post clips up to 1 minute and 30 seconds in length. If you are on a site that offers full length scenes from recent releases, they are illegally displaying the content. They also will not be in possession of any of the necessary documents pertaining to 2257 compliance but many of these sites are outside of the US and don't care.

It's curious, I almost never look at those clips. When I'm on a TGP site such as Jolene or Tiava, I generally select the still images only. I feel that I can get a much better idea of the content of a scene by looking at twelve quality still images. A minute of low res video just doesn't cut it by comparison.
A professional trailer made by the studio can work, but random TGP clips just don't give a good feel for the scene.

what is the deal with the assumption that referral sites are illegal? If slutblank (aka blankload) is an illegal site, then why is it the *only* website that comes up when I do searches for pornclips on googlevideo? Of all the quajillions of pornsites with videos on them, only slutblank comes up? They must have a deal with Google, which legitimizes them, right?

^Gabriella - In response to your questions / concerns, in chronological order:
1. "Isn't ClipHunter a legal referral site?" No, it isn't. You will NEVER find a legal site which offers entire scenes for free.
2. "But, are you sure these are all thief sites?" Yes. See above.
3. "How do you know the diff between sites that steal clips versus sites that get their clips from companies as a referral site?" See Mike Quasar's answer below your post. Almost completely without exception, you will not find a clip more than 90 seconds long on a legal site.
4. "what about the url's in the initial post?" I wasn't a mod when the initial post was made. But I suppose, to answer your question, the fact that they were mentioned once is more than enough, and they needn't be mentioned again.
5. "and if the releases aren't recent?" If they're not recent it is in fact less likely, and not more likely, that you will find legally-displayed free clips from them. The reason is because the various porn companies are trying to promote their recent product, and that's why they offer sample clips to the affiliates. The older the release, the less the company will try to promote it, and the more rare for them to give out sample clips. And they will still never give out entire scenes (or the majority of the length of a scene).
6. "what is the deal with the assumption that referral sites are illegal?" Please see the above answers, as well as the paragraphs below.
7. "If slutblank (aka blankload) is an illegal site, then why is it the *only* website that comes up when I do searches for pornclips on googlevideo?" This is actually a common complaint amongst people who want to find legitimate sites, be it for porn, or mainstream movies and television, or music. The answer is that there are many, many people visiting these sites, and that's why they come up first.
8. "They must have a deal with Google, which legitimizes them, right?" I have no idea.
There are many, many ADT users who work in the promotion side of the biz who would be happy to tell you more about the process, I'm sure. There's at least one person here from almost every single US studio (except for tiny, amateur, one-man operations - though even some of them are represented here). Foreign studios are well-represented as well. Have a look around the forums, especially the "Porn News - Press Releases" forum, and you'll figure out fairly quickly who these people are. Feel free to ask them any questions about these sorts of things - if they don't answer you, it's likely not because you offended them, but simply because they're busy and haven't gotten to your question yet.
I can assure you, though, that they'll tell you that ALL of the ***tube or tube*** or ***hunter, etc, sites are illegally sharing quite a bit of copyrighted material. Is everything these sites share illegal? No. That's how they get away with existing. They can point to a particular clip and say "see, this isn't illegally-shared, copyrighted material. This site is for free-use clips." But the truth is that the vast majority of clips on the site are illegally shared.
Now, you may see the names of some of these sites elsewhere in ADT. But I want to keep them out of this thread in particular, because of its content. It seems that it would be a little bit like lighting a cigarette near a gas station (though that's perhaps a little dramatic for a comparison). Mentioning a ***tube site in other threads might not be so bad, but here, it just doesn't feel appropriate.
Finally, take this away from my post, if nothing else: if it's a free clip of a full scene, it's illegal.
[edit: answered some more recently-posted questions.]

thanks for discussing this with me killbill. I'm not a downloader of stolen porn. I never do the Limewire/torrent thing. Simply put, DVD on my TV is still better than the highest quality download on my computer. But sometime this year I began to notice that simple Googling of porn led to 5 to 30 minute hardcore scenes right there on video.google.com. Without even going to the site, I can watch these videos within Google. I never thought they were illegal because it was so easy to get to them, and because they all came from slutblank. No special software needed. As easy to find and watch as Ninja Cat or Baby Landlord.
I assumed slutblank was a legal site because the blatantly illegal ones (megablank and [you say] all the ones listed above) don't come up in google video searches. Also as a porn fan, I noticed that the videos all seem to be made by the same internet-based porn companies (as opposed to Private/Evil/etc). I assumed that slutblank was owned by a conglomeration of Brazzers, Bang Bros and their ilk. It makes sense to me that they would throw catalog videos out for free just like they throw catalog videos into porn mags. Using your non-revenue-generating product to advertise for your revenue-generating product.
Another thing I noticed looking at the sites discussed above. 2 of them show nothing but the product of 1 company, with a company banner at the front and back of each clip. This leads me to further believe that not all clip sites are illegal. Because what would Blankzers, a US company, gain from hosting stolen clips from other companies? (Also, these clips weren't 90 second trailers, but 3-5 minute clips from scenes).
So here are my questions:
*Why does slutblank come up in Google video search results, but other allegedly illegal sites (like Megablank) do not?
*Does slutblank have a deal with Google to display hardcore porn results from their site, similar to Youtube's or Dailymotion's deal to display softcore and nonsexual results?
New information: even when you do a googlevideo search for "blankhunter" or "megablank", you don't get a single result from those sites. But when you googlevideo "slutblank", you get a bunch of hardcore videos hosted on slutblank.

New information: Slutblank is an official partner of Videobox, a legal US paysite. slutblank.videobox.com
I am NOT one to enter an online community and defy moderators...but I think that merely stating that clipsites are illegal doesn't make them so. Now, there may be illegal content on them that hasn't yet been taken down. But the same thing happens on YouTube and no one's clamoring to delete YouTube's name from this industry-friendly website.
Even mainstream TV and film are putting lots of new and catalog product online, Hulu being the primary example. So it's not beyond the pale that some porn company out there is putting some of their scenes out there for free. There's no better commercial for your product than free samples. Trailers are hard to make. Scenes are already in the can, sitting on a server doing nothing but collecting e-dust.

^As I said, the sites themselves may very well contain some legal content. So the sites themselves are not illegal. But there's an extremely good chance that any porn scene from a professional company that's on there, isn't on there with the permission of that company.
Here's how it works. People are allowed to upload "their own submissions", under the pretense that they're uploading vids they made themselves. And some of them are user-created vids. But most of them are vids you'll recognize from some porn you've seen at some point, and you know they're not "user-created". Those ones can't possibly have the permission of the porn company that made them to be on the site, because they were uploaded by some random user (and often under some false name, or some name that doesn't tell you exactly which porn flick it's from).
Further, it has been discussed in many places on this forum, and I believe in this very thread, that some online porn companies are actually posting banners on these sites, in the hopes that maybe some people will abandon the tube sites and join their pay site instead - opponents of this idea claim that all they're doing is providing financial backing for these sites. That's not an argument I really want to get into, but I can see that both sides may have a valid point.
Anyway, the point is this: yes, the sites themselves are "legal", in that they are legitimate sites with permission to exist, etc. But most of the things you see on them are "illegal", in that the site does not have permission from the original owner to display them.
Again, feel free to ask around and see if any of the porn companies, whose scenes you recognize, actually gave permission for their scene to be shown on that particular site. You'll see that the answer is - with perhaps the extremely odd exception - always "no".

Hulu makes you watch a 30 second ad before you view any content, which is how they make money, and all of the content on Hulu is there legally as they have a multitude of agreements with the major studios, networks etc. The ad revenue model isn't going to work in porn because no one other than adult related companies want to have any connection to it.
and there aren't 6 million sites like Hulu, unlike porn tube sites which seem to be multiplying by the hour. When you request that your content be removed from the site, if they even bother to remove it at all, it will be back up within days.
Regarding catalog content, in many cases, a company will sell off a large part of their back catalog to a content broker because they need money or are going out of business.. The broker will then sell and resell it indefinitely. This accounts for some of the full scenes available on tube sites and in cases like this, those scenes are probably there legally but that's a small percentage of what's being offered. Most of it is brand new stuff from top producers ripped for their DVD's without their permission.
Of course you'd get far better quality buying the DVD or viewing the clips on the producer's own pay site but for some people porn is like pizza: even bad porn is pretty good.

I buy my porn based on who is in them basically.
I like Jada Fire, but only buy the ones she either does Interracial scenes or girl/girl scenes.
The Ebony stars I like I do the same as Jada.
With so much crap out there, alot of times we consumers are misled by a fancy dvd cover, yet the quality of the movie sucks and both performance and picture/camera quality blows.
So I stick with buying the movies of girls I like.
The porn on those Peer to peer sites I do not even bother with.
One, they take long to d/l and then you find out it is not the entire movie. Or that the quality sucks big time.
I tried it maybe a handful of times over the years and said why bother. Also buying the dvd, I can get the girl(s) in it to sign the cover when I meet them in Vegas.

Mike Q: thanks for the info. Why do you think that legal porn sites don't do ads like Hulu does? There are random blogger and YouTube clients who get so many hits that ads are bought on their pages. Why can't pornsites do the same? I see banner ads for nonsex items on pornsites all the time. Why not commercials?

New information: nateglass of Pornnewz.com tells me in another thread that Brazzers, Bang Bros, Reality Kings and Penthouse all support tube/alleged piracy sites by buying ads on them. This would explain my finding Brazzers/Bang Bros scenes on these sites. But did Brazzers give the scenes to these sites or did users upload them illegally? I think it would be fair for me to assume that Brazzers et al gives these sites clips, considering they have a financial relationship.
A separate question:
How is it that Evil Angel seems to be so very good at stopping piracy of their material? I never see any of their photos or trailers anywhere except their sites. Do they, like mainstream content providers, have a staff dedicated to shutting down any online piracy of their material?

Actually it's the exact opposite, the advertisers seem to have their material least available on the tube sites they advertise on. Maybe that's part of the deal.

I've looked at a number and if Bangbros is advertising you can't find anymore than clips, not complete scenes.

You've actually nailed it. People like Brazzers and Reality Kings are advertising with those sites so that they can actually keep their content off of them. Or at least have control of what content of theirs goes up there. While it might work, it's kinda like paying the bully money so he won't beat you up. And it does nothing to stop those sites from offering everyone else's content.

ummmm...no. When I visited the sites listed at the top of this thread, I saw mostly clips from online companies like Brazzers, Bang Bros and Reality Kings. That *is* what I saw. I would encourage you to look yourselves, but that's not a good idea with the dodginess of the topic.

Those are clips though, usually a little over 1 minute, which are available on their sites anyway. Full length scenes are much more rare, and often disappear after a day or two.

I buy DVD's for picture quality and the ability to freeze frame without losing definition, also I worry about catching nasty computer viruses from these free sites. There's no such thing as something for nothing, if it's free, there's going to be a catch somewhere.

I'm going to vote against the labelling of porn clipsites as hotbeds of piracy. It's another way that porn is discriminated against in media. YouTube, a non-porn/mainstream clipsite has far more power and I'm going to guess harbors far more piracy, but no one wants to delete its url from media industry websites. And just because a website is not US-based doesn't mean it's a hotbed of illegality. Fearing foreign-based websites is just another form of xenophobia.
What all companies need to do is whatever Evil Angel is doing to keep a tight grip on their content. It is not easy to find pirated, free downloads of their movies (unless you're an experienced pirate). Follow the industry leader's example (which I'm sure is mostly elbow grease and busy paralegals sending out mountains of C&D's)

but killbill: in our unscientific surveys of these sites, most of what's there are short clips and full scenes that, another poster states, get pulled down after a few days if they're illegal.
Brother bill, I am with you in being against piracy. But I am against labelling legal pornsites like these tube ones as "illegal" just because some members upload full scenes that aren't theirs to upload. No one's labelling YouTube, MySpace or YahooVideo as "illegal" because of the full-length bootlegs that are found all over those sites. Everyone knows that the number one source of illegal online downloads are TORRENT sites and TORRENT programs, where *every single file offered* is an illegal one. You don't have to be a pirate to find this out, you just Google your favorite movie and all these torrent sites are there in the results.
The idea of a YouTube for adults only is a great idea, and I don't want the industry to be against this essential concept because it can be abused. Anything can be abused. The way to lessen the abuse is to control the concept and use it to your corporate advantage. If there are too many thisorthattubes out there, do what the mainstream industry did: create a Hulu for porn. (Which kinda already exists in the form of Videobox.)
Porn is huge. Porn's money power can't be denied. Porn corporations *can get* mainstream ad revenue online like Hulu does, even if much of that revenue is initially acquired from non-US companies based in countries that are more liberal. Even if much of that revenue is initially acquired from other quadrants of the sex industries.

^Gabriella, thanks for your interest in all of this, you've brought new life to this controversial - but interesting - thread. You're right that the issue of tube sites is different from the issue of torrent downloading, and the sites which provide searches for such things. I don't think that they're different enough, however, to consider the latter a violation of copyright laws and not do the same for the former. The fact of the matter is that almost all of the industry people here at ADT are either trying in some form or another, or developing a plan of trying in some form, to get their content removed from the tube sites. Being that the industry members make up a large part of what ADT is, it seems inappropriate to tell them all that their business model is incorrect and that they should not mind the fact that the rest of us at ADT are going to continue using the tube sites.
Maybe other ADT members will use them, but it would be much less of a "spit in the face" of industry members if they didn't share their use of such sites, including where to find particular illegally-shared scenes, here on the board.
Further, I think that it's not quite correct to say that most of the full scenes on the tube sites are taken down almost immediately. This may be true of scenes that are labeled correctly, by the name of the flick, but as we've all probably seen, most of the scenes on tube sites are not labeled with all relevant information. It is far more common to see a scene called "Redhead takes it up the ass", which is actually a complete scene from a purchased DVD that is being illegally shared, than to see a scene called "Jenna Haze, Sporty Girls, scene x, 2008 Elegant Angel". It is only ones that are labeled as such, or in a similar fashion, that the companies are able to track down and ask that they be removed. All the ones that are labeled with generic titles, or even ones that have the star's name and nothing else, are invariably not located soon or even at all by the copyright owners, and remain on the sites in perpetuity. Illegally.
So it is still a problem. Again, are all the things uploaded to the tube sites illegal? No. There are home videos, there are clips, there are preview clips uploaded by sites like Brazzers, etc. But there are many, many full scenes that are labeled in a generic fashion so as not to be found by the copyright owners. I would estimate in fact that, depending on which tube site we're talking about, this latter category makes up anywhere from 30-70% of the material found. That's just far too high a percentage to ignore.

thanks killbill. It sounds like what you're saying is I should not share links of where I find full scenes unless I am certain of their origin. And also that I need more perspective and information on what the content providers are dealing with with the tubesite issues. Cool. I wish that dude from Brazzers would participate in this thread.
I wasn't really saying that their business model is incorrect. I praised Evil Angel for their hard work and success in fighting online piracy and suggested that others work as hard as they do. Because the mainstream content providers have entire departments dedicated to fighting piracy. It's a new world, and today's piracy fight is different than 1988's. There's lots of work that you must do to fight it, but that comes along with the world of financial opportunity that comes with the internet. Porn should be leading the ways to these financial opportunities (as it always has).
got it. great explanation. I hadn't understood this aspect and did wonder why so many of them didn't name the performers in them.

I think if a tube site wants to be considered legal then they should do policing of their own site to keep non copyright holders from posting copyrighted material.

IMO, that's an unreasonable expectation. To police something you need the actual knowledge of an infringement, not an assumption. As far as I know, service providers including the likes of tube sites are protected by DMCA from liability. So, as long as they follow some basic rules and remove content if they receive DMCA complaint, they are basically safe.

We scratch our heads everyday trying to figure that out. You have to choose your battles and sue the most egregious offenders because obviously you can't sue everyone but there is no way to stop someone from ripping your DVD and putting it online somewhere.

Well, why go to a fine restaurant, when you can just stick something in the microwave? Why go to the park and fly a kite, when you can just pop a pill?

ADT is responsible if someone posts a picture that requires 2257 regulation. Why does it change on the tube site. Technically they should require 2257 information. They could make people register this and find illegally posted files this way. The truth is what Mike posted, they just want traffic and don't care, which, as far as I am concerned makes them illegally operating.
The logical way it should be is if someone owns a tube site they should be responsible for keeping off illegal material. Claiming otherwise is an excuse to make money off of stolen material. If it is too big to police then they should lower the size of the site or hire more people to police it. If I allow someone to sell stolen DVDs in my house I am responsible for the fact they are doing it, why does it change for tube sites?

Uh, but 2257 has nothing to do with copyright laws.
Regarding copyright, I can only assume that ADT follows the same policy tube sites also follow. For example, there is a lot of pictures being posted in threads here, and virtually all of them are copyrighted. Now, technically the copyright holders can request the removal of certain images if they see them here, and I am sure, Drew and Steph will comply. Beyond that, how can they tell whether something is actually a violation... unless someone complains about it.
And they are. They just can't be expected to magically determine which material is a copyright violation (i.e. illegal) and which is not.
Only if you know those DVDs are stolen.

You seem pretty well-informed on this issue...you wouldn't happen to be the same "killbillvol69" from Toronto that posts a big "thx! i love this girl" or "thx, this movie was great!" anytime a scene/DVDrip is uploaded (without copyright holder's permission) to edit are you?

What someone does or doesn't do on one message board has ZERO bearing on what they do here.

Oh, that hasn't been brought up before. Rather than respond, I'll just refer you to my response from last time, beneath the post I've linked to above. (Point c doesn't apply in this case, but a, b and d do.)
The random ownage, the resurrection of the thread that will never die (though it had been playing dead for almost two full months)... is it because of criticism I pointed your way in another thread (which I then apologized for)?
Not that I need to say more, but if you care to investigate, you'll notice that my last post there was the day after I became a mod here. The timing is not a coincidence. In fact, from when I joined ADT, my posts there went down significantly in regularity as I learned more about good films that I could buy myself, and eventually, as I became a mod here, I decided it was no longer appropriate to do any illegal downloading. (I suppose the cynic could say "you could've downloaded without posting", and for that I can't have any response by definition - it would be impossible to prove one way or the other.)
Regardless (and I can't believe I'm actually agreeing with NewRomancer here), what I do elsewhere has nothing to do with what I do here, something you've failed to understand when trying to burn others here before, with little or no effect.
(In case anyone doesn't believe me about the other killbillvol69's, here's one.)

Check the time stamp...I posted in this thread before your apology. While I can appreciate apologies as much as anyone, you need not apologize to me...I can take it as well as I can dish it out. Nothing wrong with a spirited debate. Apology not needed my friend.
I'm sorry, but this is just a copout for people to be total hypocrites. The last time I did this (and was admonished by you or another MOD) was because Meshuga was on here decrying how racist Hush Hush is while on another forum he called Joanna Angel what was it..."just another repulsive Jewish whore", while calling other people "slant eyes", "house niggas", and "Uncle Toms". You guys wanna act like if it wasn't said on ADT it never happened and that's just utterly ridiculous. And actually, I think my "burning others" was actually quite well done and effective...Messhuga had zero retort when his hypocrisy was exposed.
