To me All Her Luv is very good. There are many good sex scenes, and it's really unique in having many realistic, really well written scenes and dialogues. Twistys overall has declined in quality, but in the past has had many good scenes (and continues to do so on occasions today). For me, it's "Lift" released by SexArt with Margot A and Whitney Conroy. I never would have thought a scene shot entirely in an elevator would be so hot, but this scene makes it work. Although there's barely a story (does that elevator get stuck or is it moving very slow?"), and the angles are limited for the space, something about it comes off feeling natural; the lighting helps it too.

First, a "half" review, or, a relatively short review of a relatively short scene (just 20 minutes). It's notable for the fact that this is a "re-match" between Kayden Kross and Bree Daniels. They did that fantastic scene together in "Girl Squared" back in 2013. This one is from the movie "Slutty and Sluttier 23" released in 2014.

Instead of a fight where Bree chucks a magazine at Kayden (not a framed photo as I mistakenly stated in the review for "Girl Squared"), this one just goes straight to kissing and very hot foreplay.

Kayden's oral and finger fucking is just utterly fantastic. One thing that is certainly better than "Girl Squared" is the far superior lighting. The sound is also great: you can actually hear the squelching sound as Kayden fucks a wet Bree.

Here's the "full" review of a longer scene (like the above one, also from Evil Angel), this time between Kayden and the sainted Dani Daniels, from the movie "Filth" which came out in 2015.

They start out with some dance tease, but most of the first 12 minutes are spent on playing with food, which is a huge turnoff for me, so I will not talk much about it, except to note that in some of the pics later you'll see both women having blue colored tongue -- this comes from the cake. Alright this is the last of my Kayden Kross retrospective. This is a video titled "Don't Let The Boys Make You Cry," between Kayden and Ryan Ryans, from trenchcoatx (which seems to have been folded into deeper.com), released in June of 2018. Of the 7 total Kayden scenes (including this one) I've reviewed in this series, there are only two that she both stars in and is credited with the solo directing role -- this one, and her pairing with Bree Daniels in Girl Squared. She shares directing credit with Manuel Ferrara in her scenes with Misha Cross and Carter Cruise. The others (her pairings with Bree Daniels in Slutty and Sluttier 23, with Dani Daniels in Filth, with Eva Lovia in tushy, with Valentina Nappi in Kayden Loves Girls) were all directed by others.

Given this, it is interesting to observe the similarities between this scene and her scene with Bree in Girl Squared. First, both show a disregard for conventional wisdom in porn filming. The Girl Squared scene is mostly dark and takes place on a chair and floor. This scene is better lit, but takes place in a narrow hallway. Second, both have a short introduction that is centered around very strong but negative emotions. Her scene with Bree is centered around jealousy and anger. This one is centered around sorrow. Something about that underlying emotional intensity really appeals to me. Perhaps it's because this emotional aspect of the scenes, despite being very short (and in fact wonderfully understated) lends a huge amount of weight to the sex.

The scene starts in a very narrow but empty hallway. We hear music and indistinct conversation, presumably from a party inside a room. Then Ryan exits. She seems to make a call -- perhaps to Kayden? -- then slowly slides down to the floor and cries. Well, you have to use your imagination for the tears, since actual ones will probably ruin the makeup.

Then Kayden walks onto the scene, with the bright light shining from behind. It makes me think she's perhaps supposed to be an angelic figure? One thing that cannot be emphasized enough is just how gorgeous both women look. Another marvelous thing about this scene is how understated it is: there's no explanation or dialogue about why Ryan is crying or what her relationship with Kayden is supposed to be.

There are only two whispered spoken lines in this whole scene. The first one is here at the start, where Kayden looks on with sympathy, and says, "I wish you wouldn't let the boys make you cry." The viewers are free to fill in the blanks as they wish about exactly what's going on in terms of story, but the quiet emotional intensity is what's so clear and wonderful to see.

Their first kiss is not even meant to be sexual. It almost feels like Kayden is offering it as an emotional comfort. She then leans in and softly kisses Ryan's forehead.

Things quickly escalate though. The kissing becomes more passionate, and they quickly strip naked. Hands, mouths, tongues, fingers touch each other all over the place. Really great foreplay here.

Kayden does oral sex on Ryan while the latter is standing. As per Kayden's usual high standard, it looks absolutely fantastic. Later she finger fucks Ryan while deeply kissing her.

After Ryan finger fucks Kayden for a short while, Kayden returns with her fingers and hands on Ryan. The part with her using both hands on Ryan as Ryan lies on her back is just gorgeous.

Then Ryan eats Kayden's pussy -- as per Ryan's usual high standard, it also looks amazing. They end the scene with more deep kisses. Kayden finally smiles and whispers the second and last line of the scene, "To us" (well I think that's what she says, the audio is not 100% clear here).

Just some concluding thoughts.

1. Kayden Kross is an amazingly gorgeous woman.

2. Kayden Kross is a fantastic performer when it comes to girl/girl sex, whether in terms of foreplay/kissing, or oral sex, or finger fucking, or even using sex toys. The only thing I haven't seen her use is a strap-on. It wouldn't surprise me if she's really good at that too.

3. Kayden Kross, when given a chance to direct her own scenes, seems to prefer to (or at least can) set up the sex with emotional depth and intensity. This is not done by complex dialogue, but visual storytelling and physical action. They are, as I said earlier, wonderfully understated. It's a marvel to me how such little time spent can provide such a huge return in terms of the intensity of the scenes.

Back when they brought on Skow and Dan cut back you could really see the contrast in styles and where Skow was way more 'porny' and featured many more actresses that hadn't done or weren't known for their girl/girl work and that seems to have only increased in recent years (just going by scene listings I see here and elsewhere).

They also had a good number of actresses that were reliable and you would know would give a good performance regardless of who they were paired with. If you saw a scene with Prinzzess, Jelena Jensen, Samantha Ryan, Jenna Sativa, Mindi Mink and a couple of others you knew it would usually be pretty good whereas now they don't seem to have many that fit that description. Now this isn't all their fault as their success bred a bunch of competitors that now compete for what seems like an increasingly small number of really good girl/girl performers and if you have directors that don't seem to value those types of actresses, well then you get what they have become.

I still have a bunch of the early GFF DVDs and take them out occasionally and no they weren't all great but man they had a much greater hit percentage than anything today but that's just one guy's opinion.

Girlsway's issues are more obvious to me as they really had no founding credo so it easy for them to just go wherever the wind was blowing.

And about Ryan Ryans, I'm not going to say she's underrated, but it's not oe of those actreses that I see usually being discussed here. Even Darcie Dolce has given more attention than her!! It's a shame bcause I think Ryans is fantastic. I love many of her scenes and I really hope one day she makes a good comeback.

My fantasy is for a collaboration between she and Maddy Burton, the writer for All Her Luv. The clever and naturalistic dialogue from Maddy and the emotional punch from Kayden -- together they would have been able to write and direct an amazingly emotional scene that sets up some nuclear-explosion intense sex.

Ryan is not quite as renowned as some others because she's not the most prolific, but she far surpasses above Kayden when it comes to g/g videos -- almost 150 compared to just 30-40.

Avgar's question was basically this, "Why are so many straight women watching mainstream lesbian porn?" She cited the same Pornhub Insight studies that I cited previously which showed "lesbian" being the most viewed category for women for a decade. To find out why, she googled the terms "straight women" and "lesbian porn" to find 15 articles purporting to offer explanations. These were not academic articles, but mainly pop culture, sexuality, or health writings.

Synthesizing from these articles, she said they tended to offer five explanations.

-- Lesbian porn focuses on female pleasure.

-- It's more relatable, as in, the women on screen looks more like the women watching them.

-- It's less degrading to women than straight porn.

-- The sexual pleasure is more authentic.

-- Lastly, it offers space for fantasy and experimentation for straight women.

Now, it should be emphasized that this was not necessarily what Avgar believed. She's just summarizing what those pop culture articles said. In fact, I'm quite skeptical of these explanations myself, as 4 of the 5 are essentially saying straight women watch lesbian porn because they don't like straight porn, in the sense that straight porn is less about female pleasure, have women who look less realistic, more degrading, and less authentic. Even if these are true, I just don't think women watch lesbian porn as some sort of refuge from straight porn. They watch it because they find it arousing (this is backed up by the Spanish study I talked about in an earlier post).

Anyway - and this is the really fun part - to test these "explanations," Avgar proceeded to watch 10 lesbian videos from Pornhub in order to see if they were really more female centered, more relatable, less degrading, and more authentic (obviously she can't ask the viewers what they think, so the last one - fantasy and experimentation - is not testable). She sorted lesbian videos on PH by views, then selected the first video on the first 10 pages.

Some videos have been since deleted or are amateur stuff. But among the studio/professional videos, they include the following:

-- Angela White & Kissa Sins from Girlsway

Anyway, here's what Avgar found from the videos when compared to those "explanations."

-- Focusing on female pleasure? True.

This is the least surprising thing, as these are literally lesbian porn, so what else can it be?

-- Physically relatable to the audience? Sort of.

On the minus side, Avgar said most were young, white, and arguable skinny. On the plus side, she said only two were "unnaturally blonde," only two had "surgically enhanced breasts" (probably including Vanessa Veracruz), most did not shave their pubic hair and only three had long nails. It seems Avgar was judging porn by some really archaic stereotypes.

-- Less degrading? Mostly true.

Avgar said most videos had some dirty talk and spanking, but they were "wrapped... in humor or soft, loving gestures." One hilarious part was when she attempted to seriously analyze the scene between Keisha and Abella, which had an insane plot. Keisha was a bitch to her stepsister Abella and prevented Abella from getting home on time, which caused Abella to "urinate" herself.

Avgar said this appeared to be degrading at first glance, but "the rest of the film shows her [Keisha] making amends and compensating her [Abella] for what she has done" (by offering sex of course).

-- Authentic pleasure? Mostly true.

Here Avgar said these videos were largely good (enough) as apparent orgasms were achieved following clitoral stimulation and took some time (she's apparently grading on a very generous curve).

The part that really had me in stiches was her analysis of the two scenes that had squirting - the one between Abella and Keisha, and the one between Tiffany Watson and Lulu Chu. Here's the full quote.

"Two of the videos presented performers who ejaculate when they orgasm... and their ejaculation served as further 'proof' of the authenticity of their pleasure." 😄😄😄

Yeah darker emotions are very problematic to get right in porn. After all, feeling bad typically don't equal horny. This is especially true in lesbian porn, where I feel like most scenes trend toward light-hearted/comedic stuff (there are some exceptions, like All Her Luv, which does do serious, though not necessarily dark, drama).

The impressive thing about these Kayden directed scenes is that she doesn't need to do any of this. She and Bree Daniels? She and Ryan Ryans? They could have just been gonzo scenes and would have been great sex scenes. But she chooses to put these emotional elements into them, suggesting that she's genuinely interested this sort of expression of female intimacy.

I had commented on how interesting it is that she manages to tell intense and interesting stories with so few words. I just watched another scene that is sort the polar opposite of it. It's from Adult Time's Mixed X channel, with Alyssa Bounty, Misha Cross, and Barbie Brill, which came out earlier this year. It's titled "Legal Temptations," and written by Christina Shine.

It's a 40 minute scene, with 15 minutes spent on story, which by normal porn standard is a huge investment. Yet this story is just far too ambitious. I think it's somewhat based on the 1997 Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves movie "The Devil's Advocate," where a young and ambitious lawyer is tempted by the devil with power and wealth to cross over to the dark side (or something like that; I watched it a very long time ago). Here Barbie plays the young lawyer, Misha is the devil figure, and Alyssa is Misha's servant, and is used by her to sexually tempt Barbie who is already married.

I applaud Christina's ambition, but this is just way too much to cover in just 15 minutes. I left a comment on the site, where I said this probably would have been better suited to be a four part series, with each part centered around a pairing. Part 1 will be between Misha and Alyssa, showing how the devil ensnared her first victim. Second part will be between Barbie and her wife (which does not appear in the actual video), showing how they used to be happy together. Third part will be between Barbie and Alyssa, showing how she is seduced to the dark side. Last part will the threesome with Barbie, Alyssa, and Misha (which is what happened in the actual video).
