This thread, for the most part, has been dedicated to honoring August ( Mercedes ) and reeling as a result of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding her death. For the past few years I have made it a point to visit August at her booth ( Jules Jordan, MOFOs,... ) and I won't be able to do that this year. She was warm and engaging and had a great sense of humor and I will miss that at the show this year. I can only imagine what her friends and family have lost. What hopefully will also be missed this year is the the spiteful division that has developed as a result of her passing. I also hope that the senseless and vengeful name calling can be replaced by a mutual understanding that a young and promising life was cut short. It's amazing to me that an industry that claims to be a " family " can do more harm to itself than any insidious outside force ( government, fundamentalists, etc... ). The past few weeks have been hard on those who appreciate the Adult Industry. Shyla, Yuri and August were all taken way too soon. Instead of " boycotting ", " bullying " and other forms of divisiveness perhaps, this should be a time of...let's say, love and understanding. I realize that this may be a simplistic and naive notion but it's got to be better than the malevolent sniping that has run rampant since August's death. On that note, R.I.P. And most didnt even have the full context of August's PSA. Drake has enabled bullies to be proud the same way DT has brought out the closet racists in America Now, you look on social media and Dahlia Sky is talking about suicidal hypotheticals and Lana Rhoades is being viciously attacked for having plastic surgery. Not saying the issues itself are correlated, but letting one set of bullies go unpunished sets a precedent that anybody can bully, project hate, and so on without consequence and it wouldnt shock me if another tragedy occurred in the distant future Cut the head off the snake and the snake dies----dont let Drake get away with her bullying and it might help deter future problems or at least allow others to feel comfortable with free speech and others to be able to stand by them. This is the same performer who resisted shooting with black guys for nearly 20 years and then attacks a girl for choosing not to work with a studio that doesnt frequently test its' talent. And someone correct me, but I'm positive active gay males are more at risk for HIV than any other type of sexual orientation [Link] |

What I'm not sure of is how it was a statement made by a " bully ". It appears that you may have not afforded the same " context " consideration to Jessica that you ( rightfully so ) afforded August. Is it your intent to bring justice for August by bringing Jessica Drake down? Please enlighten me on how Jessica's statement was that of a bully that lead others to tear at August. She could have returned home or got a regular job which would have given her space to work through her issues and get her demons more under control. She could have taken a moment to see where August was coming from with her warning and not tweet so quickly. Unfortunately, that's one aspect of twitter that is sooooo...wrong. By it's nature, it's reactive. Emotionally charged and equipped with 140 characters, they react without much reflection. For THAT, and only THAT Jessica should have ( and does have ) regrets that she will live with. I have read her initial tweets and I haven't found any " stone like " quality to them nor did I see any call to the masses to rise up and crush August's spirit. However, there were others that did come across in a most malevolent way and THEY should be the focus of your ire. Regarding being a " shill " you might want to take a second look at your 12/27 comments about Jessica and take notice that your problems with her have a history and may have clouded your " context ". As for me, I have no vested interest in this " debate " other than hoping this " blame game " madness stops and August is remembered for her life and not devalued by her tragic death.
