I've been re-reading the first few pages of this thread. If only someone had guided this girl in Spiegler's direction . . . how different things would have been . . .
^Too true and now we'll never know. I really wish her the best. Maybe you know or someone else does but do contract stars really have a free out when they don't want to do porn anymore or is this going to cost her money? I mean she signed a contract and was paid a certain amount of money so contractually she may still owe DP some scenes and appearances.

I think I tweeted Bibi that before she signed, she should talk to Katsumi, and that Katsumi also had a really good agent (i.e. Spiegler). I get why she didn't follow the advice of some idiot on twitter, but I thought she might see the wisdom in talking to a former DP contract girl, instead of just meeting all the current girls, who were literally paid to talk up the company. ^It's kind of interesting to think what might have been, going the non-contract route. I think she probably could have made a ton of money(maybe even more than with DP) and been popular going with spiegler,shooting a lot of scenes then getting out while she's still young(which she is doing now) Even if it was at the cost of the fame she has now(which she may now see as notoriety) Conjecture aside, I wish her the best in the future, it was cool that she got into porn in the first place, even if I was desiring to see more. I seriously doubt that DP is on the hook for any cash given the nature of the business and flakiness of the girls. There is not a court or judge in this country that could legally force someone to have sex against their will regardless of whether there was a contract in place or not.
From a personal perspective I hope she finds what she's looking for and can heal whatever wounds she has with her family. Never like hearing about that kind of stuff. As far as the business aspect though...meh. She was always a pretender to the throne. Talking big and picking fights with girls way above her level. She's young though, so that kind of stuff happens.

Once a PR powerhouse Digital Playground has slipped drastically in recent years into just another porn company, mo more blockbuster movies like "Pirates" and the once top notch PR team has been replaced with hacks and even outsourced to some degree.

^ I can't imagine DP would front load her contract and pay her before she actually shot a scene. I,m sure she wouldn't be the first pornstar to bail after she was paid off if that were the case.
I could be wrong, but dosen't Digital Playground pay their contract girls in increments, possibly quaterly, so it's less likely for the girls to flake out on their next shoot?

I think they just pay them a monthly salary. And probably get them to shoot as many of the scenes called for in the contract as early as possible, so that they can just put them on the shelf and dribble them out, even if the girl subsequently gets disenchanted or wants to quit. (The 2257 on her latest movie, The Pill, says the date of production was 9 months ago.) Probably the only thing that happens if she decides to retire is they stop paying her, but continue putting out "new" movies starring her for the next 3 years.

The interesting thing will be whether these retiring performers pop up again later down the track as free agents or for another company. Then things will get very messy with respect to their DP contracts.
^ My understanding is that non-compete clauses are very hard to defend. Basically, you can't prevent another human being from practicing their trade. You CAN prosecute someone for using their former employer's intellectual property. I don't think Digital Playground holds a copyright on spreading your legs for the camera. DP owns their names, and maybe even their twitter feeds and facebook pages, but DP can't prevent these girls from performing. It's possible that both girls announced their "retirements" because they think that they are either morally or legally bound to honor their contracts. But illegal contracts are not enforceable, and there is good reason for this: If a human being freely signed themselves into slavery, the slave would have every moral right to reassert his or her freedom; if a human being contracted to commit a murder, they would be morally bound to break that contract. Assuming there is a non-complete clause, DP signed these girls into serfdom, which is illegal and immoral. They both have agents, and their agents should know the law. The only problem may be that their agents are scared of Manwin/DP, and therefore won't let the girls know their rights. I think it's more likely that they understand that they are not serfs, and truly want to quit porn.
^I don't know anything about non-compete clauses and such but has there been one single DP contract star that left the company priror to the end of her contract and somehow made a comeback into porn a little later on? I'd also like to add that if Bibi And Riley are having an issue with their contract (a contract that most people consider to be generous by porn standard) then why would they bother making porn of any kind? They might make a lot more money on a per scene basis but they'll have to do a lot more to earn that money than what they did for DP. Can I officially say that this is the end of DP as a high end studio?

I, as many others, have been saying for a long time now how garbage Digital Playground is. It's gotten even worse with now Manwin involved, but I wouldn't blame Manwin, because DP has been wasting talent for years without a shadow of remorse or regret. However, I would blame these girls just as much, because they themselves have gone after Digital Playground and refused to listen to reason and anything speaking against it...just so they could be the "Contract Girl". This isn't the first time a girl is leaving, after banking some money and having minimum "sex" possible being a so-called pornstar.
The youtube retirement speech was depressing. 1st for her fans because she is leaving. 2nd because there should have some enthusiasm from her about the future. It was a bit scary.
As a side note, another negative part of this, at least for me, is that with two of their contract girls resigning so soon, DP may feel pressured to quickly snag replacements and maybe another one my favorites could be snatched up...

Well, those names are the trademarks of Digital Playground. If either of them wanted to "branch out", they would have to rebuild their fan base under a new name. And Kayden Kross is still with DP, for now.

Seako I didn't know Stoya had anything new, I don't really keep up. I just know she hasn't been in any new dvds since November of 2011 according to adult dvd universe. A name change wouldn't be that bad, pornstars have don it before. Yes, they still have Kayden Kross but I haven't watched enough of her scenes to have a real opinion on her. Remember, before Bibi Jones, she went by the name Britney Beth which personally is a name I liked better. I think most of her fans were familiar with her work before the name change. I can understand her situation. There wasn't much of a need for her to do it publically, but oh well. I know if my daughter was in porn, it would hurt me badly. It would probably cause me severe depression and make me feel like the ultimate failure of a father. There would probably be no association until she quit the profession. I would absolutely despise the idea of my daughter that I raised from a baby to an adult debasing herself in such a fashion while I lived. I imagine a lot of these girls when they make the choice to go into porn have to deal with the effect on their families. That's gotta be tough. I imagine many porn girls are from broken or troubled homes where they don't have that type of support system. But some probably come from stable homes with married parents and are daddy's girls. When a daddy's girl decides to go down the path of perversion, their father is not going to be too fucking happy. So good for Bibi if her family did help her make the decision to go down another path. I know the police would have to jail me to stop me from taking my daughter away from such a life.
