Click to expand Actually, a lot of them are above average when they first come into the business. You just wouldn't know it most of the time because most pornographers don't know how to use their equipment (or don't bother to use it properly) and you can easily make anybody look terrible with bad technique with either a video camera or a digital still camera. Not to mention the awful airbrushing they often do in still pictures. It's actually easier to make people look terrible than it is to make them look great. Which is why most porn stars look "average". I'm surprised they look that good. It can be anything from bad makeup to ugly clothing, bad lighting, bad lenses or angles. You name it. Perhaps 'gleeful' was too hastily selected and inaccurate an adjective to use, but I certainly see no evidence that the porn industry regretted Ms. Grant's suicide, since most producers continue to provide no benefits to their performers and take insufficient steps to protect them from work related disease. Of course, these are other issues than the one at hand. I bring them up only since they do touch upon my view of Ms. Grant's tragedy. I have bothered to outline my reasons for my view on this matter. I invite you to correct them. Who am I to "know" such a thing, and so glibly toss-out such pop-psych claptrap? If you were to look at a list of female pornstars past and present, I'm sure you would find well over 90% of these girls fitting that description.
