Why wouldn't they be afraid to work with her? Even the most charitable reading of the situation goes something like this: After what seem to have been more or less industry-standard levels of due diligence by all involved, her boundaries were overstepped in a relatively benign way (with a slap delivered with more force than agreed upon), which immediately rendered her incapable of asserting herself and her rights as a performer to any useful degree for the next several hours, and which may have led to further boundaries being exceeded in the course of the filming.
No matter how much culpability one wants to assign to the director and the other performer (and I certainly don't think Just Dave and Rico Strong are blameless), why would anybody risk working with Leigh Raven now when there are hundreds of alternative choices in the performer pool who appear much less likely to put you in the midst of a shitstorm you won't even see coming? Who knows what sort of incident might set off a repeat on somebody else's set? I feel terribly sorry for her if the above is indeed what happened, but if the collective judgement of those paying the bills in the industry is "she's somebody who should not be doing porn anymore", then that seems like little more than sensible self-preservation instincts to me.

This won't do for a relevant frame of reference. Were you supposed to fight? Your anecdotal comparison only makes sense if you were supposed to fight. She was supposed to do a rough fuck scene.
We want to condemn others for not acknowledging verbal cues, but we can't when are were no verbal cues. So we have to condemn them for not acknowledging non-verbal cues, but how does the non-verbal cue of laughing and not only sticking around for more, but assuming the submissive position to be dominated again, when we have no reason to believe she could not just get up and walk away or that she was being restrained, give anyone cause for concern?
The reasons you "laughed it off" would seem to be because you were probably taken off guard, and didn't expect it to continue. She knew it was going to continue, so does laughing immediately after the strike in question betray this notion she was opposed to it? She had to have expected more of it. She was documented just moments before this saying she liked it. This isn't a case of some maniac trying to justify an out of the blue rape ambush by saying "she was asking for it" cuz of how she dressed. Raven was literally explicitly asking for it. She literally signed up for it, and she could have literally said anything to object if it went to far. They were literally asking her to tell them if it was too rough at any point.
So what is even the point of telling people to listen if they do listen and are punished anyway? How do we damn someone for not being able to read the mind of someone whose behavior suggests the exact opposite of what is in their head, and there's every chance to speak their mind or push back?
This is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. If her non-verbal cue after that hit was to recoil and cower, and they continued anyway, then yeah, it would be obvious why there should have been concern, and criticism would be as predictable as it would be warranted. But since the non-verbal cue was the EXACT OPPOSITE of recoiling and cowering or trying to get out of the situation, we'd expect a little more understanding, yet they were condemned all the same, even though it's the exact opposite context of a situation where condemning would be far more understandable.
I just checked his twitter and Rico stated it's been over 3 months and he still hasn't gotten work. If they edited out a credible violation/offense, they should not only lose work but be tried in court for deliberately destroying evidence and face prison to boot.

Leigh Raven Case Reportedly Closed
According to the article, the police found no evidence of assault, and the DA will not prosecute. I guess they must all be misogynists too.

Yes because clearly there isn't any difference between investigating something and coming to a conclusion based on the primary source evidence and sitting at home announcing that women are always wrong because women.

I am all for questioning, investigating, and coming to an informed and accurate conclusion based upon evidence. That is what I have always advocated. If you were to be honest about what you have read in my posts, then you already know that.
I've always preferred to be fair over being popular. Unfortunately, the two are not always the same. If I had to choose between siding with the crazed hysterics who believe that women never lie just because they're women, or siding with the so-called "misogynists," then I'd side the so-called misogynists any day.

In James Deen's infamous case, there was a chain reaction of accusations that buried him for a considerable period. In this case, I don't see nearly the same level of pile-on against Rico, who's been in the biz quite a long time, and I don't think he's got nearly as much clout as James either. So if people wanted to bury him with pile-on, they probably could. James couldn't stop it, and I highly doubt Rico could.
How many others have come out to accuse Rico in the wake of this?

James Deen did what he did in private sex with his own girlfriend , Rico was acting under direction from Just Dave it would seem, it's not quite the same

Multiple performers accused Deen of on set misconduct after Stoya made her claim.

Still Stoya was his girlfriend back then and I believe that a violent behaviour done privately is a pejorative ,at least comparing that with Rico
What makes public violence really ugly is the inaction or the complicity of those in there whatching

^I'm saying that after Stoya made her allegation of partner rape against Deen, other performers accused Deen of misbehaving on set. Stoya accused Deen of private abuse, as did Joanna Angel, but other performers then said that he had been abusive or inappropriate toward them on porn sets.

As far as I have heard, there have been no other accusations against Rico aside from this one. Yet, even though he has been exonerated, he has stated that he has not been able to get work since the accusation surfaced.
James Deen, on the other hand, was indeed accused by several women of actions both on-set and off-set. However, he has never seemed to have any problem continuing to get work and porn accolades.
I don't know if James is guilty of the accusations against him or not, but I do find it interesting that the accusations never seemed to negatively affect him like the single accusation against Rico has affected him.
I wonder what the difference could be between them to account for that type of disparate treatment in the industry. Hmmmm. What could it be?

Me me me! I know! It's because Rico Strong is black and Deen is white!
Seriously though, while race most certainly impacts how people receive these stories, we can't claim any parallels or differences until a while after. Deen was raked over the coals, people boycotted him, studios publicly dropped him, etc. Now he is back on his feet, shooting his own content and that of others (in like three cases). He also was *way* more successful and mainstream-known than Rico. So, if in a few months Rico has still been...um....blacklisted, then perhaps we can speculate.

Rico has been whining on Twitter for almost the last year about not getting any work, even before this situation with Leigh.
Come to think about it he's been working for Archangel (Anal Warriors 4) so there are still people out there that will shoot with him occasionally.

She should be charged with a crime. When you accuse others of a crime and evidence is presented proving you're lying, you should reap the consequences. Period.

Did Leigh Raven recant or is that just rumor? I saw something about Rico being celebrated for his return in a recent tweet. It seemed like an informal exoneration. But I don't know if there's been an official acquittal or settlement.

I saw a bunch of video footage that directly refutes everything she stated. She agrees on video tape to EXACTLY what she later claims was against her will. More video footage of the events taking place while she just laughs and appears completely at ease.
It's a fucking joke.
Speaking of fucking jokes, this thread is HILARIOUS. I just started reading it from the start and it's absolutely hilarious. So many posts did NOT age well. LOL

Wait, so you're telling me Person B should be okay with losing his career over false accusations because a different Person A had a career that survived a different set of unrelated accusations at an earlier time? That's absurd.

Now that the dust has settled the website https://blackpayback.com/tour/ is now up and running. No sign of Leigh's or Riley's scenes as yet.

You're clearly clueless about law. How did the evidence 'prove' that she was lying? Do you know what the word prove even means?

As a person whose fairly close to law, I can tell you it's practically impossible for a sex worker to win a rape case anywhere in the world. Simply because it's 'he said she said' and her profession is to have consequential sex with strangers.

What people don't realize about the business is that the performers agree to a specific set of acts up-front and boundaries are discussed. When the scene starts and the the guy crosses the boundary or doesn't something she didn't agree to do, she's at the directors mercy as whatever was agreed upfront was never agreed in writing. The directors refuse to pay them if they make an issue about it.

To put it plainly, these rapes are REAL and happen way more often than people imagine. But the business and the law is flawed and can't protect them.

Great, Rico should sue, this woman nearly ruined his career and shes on Twitter talking about not liking liars....Please!

The pot calling the kettle black.

But as posted above all those who took her word for it, have now eaten their humble pie, let that be a lesson for the likes of MisspornUSA and all of them defending people like her who are deceivers.

Rico deserves an official apology from all of those including leigh for what she did to him.

The poor lad probably suffered grave mental and emotional distress and I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered suicidal thoughts also.

Yet, I've seen people post here making light of Rico's situation when he couldn't get work. You kick the man when he's down.

What if he has a mortgage or child care responsiblities?

You see the funny side of that?

Idk if I'd sue her, it's indeed possible that her boundaries were crossed and she was traumatized but as others have said you can't shoot for a company like that and not be very comfortable in asserting when something is wrong. Saying she gave visual cues means nothing when she was told to act like she was in actually uncomfortable, and visual cues can be misinterpreted while a statement of discomfort during the shoot or a break can't be. But she didn't do any of that, which again makes no sense for someone in porn shooting rough porn. Why I don't think she should be sued tho is cuz I agree with the mike south article that it could've been Nikki who tried to pressure her to accuse Rico, and given the video and her interactions with the crew both during and after the shoot it does seem very plausible. So in a sense suing her might be punishing the wrong person.

And lol, a lot of comments here definitely didn't age well. As with any other crime, allegations of abuse should be taken and investigated seriously but not outright believed. People need to stop stating their opinions of the verdict as fact.
