Yeah, count me as another one who HATES all the camera time - in the average gonzo porn scene - devoted to extreme closeups. I mean, I enjoy the content Mike Adriano produces (Swallowed, Nympho, True Anal, All Anal), but I would enjoy it so much more if the camera was pulled back more often so I can see more of the girl(s). Same thing goes for Mason's work (HardX, DarkX, LesbianX and AllBlackX), the tease sequences in the beginning of her scenes would be so much more enjoyable for me if more camera time was devoted to capturing the girl's whole body and not just a particular part. It's this all-too-common lack of "full-body" shots in scenes that makes me so interested in photo galleries for scenes, particularly the solo/glam shots of the girls. Often times, I'll get full-body glimpses of the girls in a scene's photo gallery that I won't get in the scene itself.
^ You've hit the nail on the head here, especially in relation to the Adriano content. For me seeing the star's face in reacting to what's happening is central to the enjoyment of the scene and so minute after minute of close-ups of gapes just doesn't do it for me. You reach the point where you could almost substitute a different 'body' into the scene and you couldn't tell! There needs to be a balance of close-ups to wide shots and a number of high-profile producers, in my opinion, aren't getting that balance right at the minute.

Real tight shots of gentials, called Meatshots, go back to the very beginning of porn in the pre-legal loop days. As porn moved towards features most of the best directors moved towards more full body shot but the introduction of video seemed to push things back to the loop days both in terms of shooting style as well as structure.
In modern porn things again started to develop to a more full body style (Mason, William H., Malone and Chris Streams and Juan Cuba in their non-POV work but the success of certain directors like Adfiano seems to have popularized the static close-up approach again.
The most recent Tushy video got me thinking. Is their decision to shoot all their videos from a tripod a new thing or was it always there from the very beginning but I simply overlooked it. I went back to the very first video in 2015 and checked a few other from over the years and sadly. They are all tripod shot videos and I can't do it anymore. I checked Vixen videos and it's the same thing. It would seem that only Deeper as partially escaped this black hole of unoriginality that has infected the porn industry. Adriano and all his clones suffer from a similar affliction but in their case it's the handheled/POV only diseases.
A major consequence of shooting porn from either a tripod or a handheld/POV only is that you limit the action to either two dimension and/or zooming in and out of wherever the camera is pointing which sadly is usually the genitals.
I'm not saying that producers should throw out his/her tripod but for f..k sake take the camera in hand and move around the room. I mean Kayden does it in her Deeper videos and that adds an element that is important.

Totally agree. I actually am not a big fan of Adriano. While I don't want them to go to the other extreme and have no close up penetration shots, there really needs to be a good mixture of tight penetration and wider angle shots. A good camera person or editor knows how to achieve the proper balance. Too much of any one type of shot becomes boring.

Two other things that come to mind to me are kinda of connected. It's the "big dick" guys. It's fine if they want to promote the scene around the guy having a huge dick, especially when its anal, but 2 things defeat the purpose for me: 1. When the guy is half flaccid.
