According to a 2017 article by Romance Writers of America, an extraordinary 82% of romance novel readers are women. Granted, this was essentially before the recently explosion of LGBTQ romance novels as I couldn't find any more up to date numbers. Still, my guess is things haven't changed that much.
- Most such women readers, of course, are straight, given that most women in general identify as straight (around 95%). Most likely among those who read lesbian romance novels, most of those are also straight. Unlike many actual lesbian and bisexual women, they seem to prefer fantasizing about feminine women getting it on.
- A loose connection between this topic and porn: it's a common complaint from actual lesbian and bisexual women that mainstream lesbian porn is made for (straight) men. This is a review of a scene between Chloe Amour & Gizelle Blanco from Lesbian X, released on 3/13/24. I think this scene has been brought up before in this thread? Not sure. Anyway, a pretty good scene with some really strong points (which will be discussed below in more details). However, out of a roughly 30 minutes scene, the last 12 minutes or so are not nearly as good as the first 18 minutes.
The tease sequence of this scene is amazing. Sure, the two women are naturally beautiful, but the production make them look fantastic.
