Yeah that grungy, stark, quasi-industrial aesthetic is interesting. Mostly it's good, but once the sex starts, they have to have sex on a black mattress on concrete floor, which just rubs me the wrong way. It looks so... cheap, which clashes very badly with the beauty of the women and lingerie.
It's something more common that we imagine for porn directors to reuse the same places for their scenes. Alan X also uses the same locations for She seduced me and funny enough some of them are even from his time in Girlsway.

It's the opposite for me. I am a sucker for these darker, atmospheric scenes. The sex on a mattress in some industrial/warehouse setting or in some cheap looking motel room is what makes the scene pop for me. It gives the sex a sort of spontaneity & a nasty, rough edge which I love. Also these scenes just look so fucking cool & stylish.
Mason had pretty much perfected this darker grungier aesthetic in her earlier movies from the 2000s. If anything she has scaled back the dirty/rough look of her sets as she has become older. 90% of her scenes shot nowadays is in some minimalistic bedroom or living room.
P.S. - I'm not complaining, just lamenting.

I thought it was common knowledge that porn only had a certain number of sets that all the major companies book for their scenes. I feel the number of sets has actually dwindled if you compare porn from the late 2000s to the porn of the post-Pandemic era. VMG might be the only company that still invests money in booking fresh-looking & expensive locations IMO.
I don't see the trailer yet, though the channel named "Spun" is up, and it is noted as "A Girlsway Film" on the website. I'm leery of "dramedy" but it is the first story-based miniseries since "Women's World" that came out in 2022, and is worth celebrating. Yeah I watched that scene before. There are some very good moments in there. You are also certainly right that the awkward surfaces they have sex on really brings down the scene. In addition, it has squirting in it, which is a turnoff for me.

In your description of the Girl Crush scene, it seems to me they literally ripped off Mason's entire aesthetic for her OG Girl Crush line back in the Club 59 days. I mean some Twistys subscriber must have figured out they were plagiarizing Mason? Did nobody call them out on that? Or is that scene more like a tribute to Mason's style?
I can see some similarities in terms of the interviews, but visually it seems less minimalist. Also, Mason seemed to have made some real effort to match up women who like having sex with other women, or even with specific women, whereas Twistys may have made less of an effort. In any event, copying successful formula is literally what everyone does across all industries. I for one have been calling for American producers to emulate the European studio straplez.com, and use the feeldoe, but so far nobody is doing this for some mysterious reasons.

Yeah I reviewed a scene between Kenzie Taylor and April Olsen from All Her Luv where they also used a feeldoe. But in both cases they used them with nothing to hold them in, so most likely they will just fall out. In contrast, in straplez, they wear pantyhose or use a thong to hold them in, which make them work so much better.
