The number of porn performers that have the ability to play small believable roles is quite large and therefore that's not what usually worries me. Most of my worries are directed at the people behind the camera because they are the ones that can make what could have been a great porn scene look mediocre or worse unwatchable. It's starts with the producers who aren't willing to invest time and money that is needed to allow the performers to practice their roles. It continues with those same producers putting huge limitations on the filmmakers as to where they can shoot and the length of time they have until they have to hand in a the video. Now I don't want to only crap on the producers because ultimately they are the ones that know that any scene that goes over budget will mean that they make very little profit on the scene and that means that they will have to cut the budget on the next video or start to lose money. Therefore some of the blame has to be directed at the writer and the filmmaker because a good idea that isn't well fleshed out and crappily filmed is still going to be a crappy scene that had potential. Not everyone can be Penny or Chanel Preston when it comes to acting, but I don't think that's necessarily needed. A good build up is always nice and bad acting will definitely hurt the overall quality, but I'll take passable acting and great sex over great acting and mediocre/bad sex any day of the week. GW has fallen into the trap quite a bit on these bigger projects that the story doesn't inform to elevate the sex, thus either hurting it or making it an afterthought. A good way to make that not happen is to cast girls that have already shown that they're at least competent actresses and electric sexual performers and giving them something that they can sink their teeth into. No disrespect to someone like Jill Kassidy who on the b/g site has done by all accounts solid work, but she's not on the level as a g/g performer to make something like this believable. Cast real queer girls for the relationship scenes, and models like Penny and Chanel for the more dramatic ones. Slightly related, after watching Piper's scene with Riley this weekend, I have to say she's unfortunately been disappointing in her return to GW. This is four consecutive scenes now where she's either overacted in the build, sex, or both aspects of her performances. I know she's done work for the b/g site so if someone else has seen those scenes they could chime in, but her performing style just doesn't seem to be meshing with the GW style. [Link] |

Hire Jill Kassidy to play the lead as a young, innocent women thrown into prison. She's got the fearful, wide eye facial expression down pat. Surround her with some of the site's most popular performers. It's clear what fans (GW included) really want is to see their favorites in action. Keep the dialogue light for all involved. Avoid any silly nonsense like witches, zombies, vampires etc.. By all means, don't have anyone play a blind girl (talking to you Shyla). If someone needs a movie with talented actors, high class production, and lesbian content, I suggest they look to the mainstream market. They stopped making "adult films" decades ago. Scenes where the sex feels rushed and scenes where the sex has no build up/foreplay/kissing isn't exactly an unknown issue with GW. I do like a bit of plot in my porn the sex should never feel like an afterthought. I would like to know what "lesbian dramas with an edge" actually mean? Does it simply mean more stories rooted in reality or does it mean stories that are closer to the stuff on Pure Taboo? The number of performers who are good actresses and good g/g performers might be an issue, but that would depend more on how often they'd plan to put out these kind of scenes. More scenes, fun or dramatic, where the characters involved are actually a couple would be nice tho. They do seem to be surprisingly rare. [Link] |

I'm so glad she is getting tons of votes in the latest casting threads. I just love the idea of having Eliza or Scarlett as the main roles if we need a teen on them: both of them MUST get at least the GOTM title this year, if not more, like this main role you talked about. Surrounded them with a great and experienced cast and we could be heading to the best feature yet. I'm also with you all that PureTaboo work shouldn't interfere in GW work but as much as I like Piper, it feels like her GOTM was heavily backed up with her work there where both her acting and sexual performances fits better (I did enjoy the controversial scene Earn It but I saw a lot of complaints). Scenes have good ratings and the comments are overwhelmingly positive. Last I checked her scene with Eliza Jane was 119 up and 4 down. Granted Eliza Jane is a popular girl there and is responsible for that terrific rating as well. 2. Jill Kassidy & Nia Nacci scene has gotten a lot of views (almost 5800) and good ratings. I checked other scenes released about the same time and none got more views. Read into it what you like, I attribute it to the value of young, pretty faces in selling porn. 3. On 3/18 GW has a scene coming with the tease picture being Bree Daniels' finger up Casey Calvert's ass. Well, that's subtle advertising. Has anyone scene Bare yet? It's the Jules Jordan produced/Kayden Kross directed lesbian movie released this week. Based on the trailer, looks like some effort went into this one.
