It's very interesting that you have not responded to the fact that Brazzers, your business partner owns most of these tube sites.

some online retailers dont require much info to validate, only a matching card number and CCV code and expiry date I would never ever do that because then the chargeback ratio goes sky high, ie you get defrauded a lot. nd that actually puts my merchant account at risk.

I would agree with you but honestly it isn't going to happen anytime soon. This industry has never placed any value in its product beyond the initial release window, Attempts to organize have met with failure because one or more parties has divergent interests or because of sheer corruption. In the old days the tube site owners would either have been the mob, in which case nothing would be done OR they would have been visited by the mob and shown the error of their ways. In the heyday of this biz not long ago we were releasing about 14,000 dvds a year, and they were being sold on thin margins, when the tube sites and the internet started cutting into those margins we quickly felt the pinch, and began to implode. We have never been able to organize as an industry, we spent our effort instead trying to figure out how to steal an additional dime from our customers and/or each other.

And let me correct jules...without posting links to these sites pretty much his entire catalog is available and they are Brazzers owned sites and the arent torrent sites, I posted links to them and left them up for a couple of days to illustrate my point. as to links to Brazzers....I have a TGP that is used for traffic generation to my site, I am not, nor would I be a brazzers affiliate and make no money from them. Brazzers, Jules Jordan Video and all his affiliated sites, Adult Friendfinder and Bangbros are ALL Banned from my TGP. That said do they slip in from time to time, yup, and when I find them they get terminated and the url banned. ( they usually slip in under cover of a site that doesnt say Brazzers on it.) Matter of fact jules feel free to post all the links you find right here so I can deactivate them and may I in turn post all the links on brazzers owned tube sites to YOUR content so that you can have it removed? I do make a good living but it isnt on affiliates its on sites that I own, the only affiliate I get a check from is AEBN, the rest of my income is derived from my websites. MikeSouth.com is a traffic generation site its free and by itself derives no income, but it does drive traffic to my paysites, primarily southernbukkake.com. Now Jules lets hear disclose your relationship with Brazzers....You want quid pro quo? bring it... Jules knows the influence that I have, that is why he is so quick to try and deflect these threads. Note he doesn't deny anything I say about Brazzers. Now when confronted with the fact that Jules writes very large checks every month to the very people who steal from us the most this is the best response he can muster up? I used to think you were a decent sort of guy, what happened to you man? Exactly when did you sell out? What wa the price? I know how you got where you are, if not for a big helping hand from the owner of AVN you'd still be a flunky in his video store in Philly. This is how you thank the industry that has gotten you where you are?
I dunno. Did you actually use them to buy stuff? All the ones I have researched will let you purchase them (You give money to the cashier, cashier gives you the card), but you still have to perform further registration (i.e. real name and real address and maybe SSN) before the card can be activated for use. You do the "further registration" via mail or by internet or something, not at the point of purchase. At least I think that is how it works. It's been a while since I was investigating it. What cards did you purchase and from where? Do they work with online porn purchases?
I got Visa cards from Walmart. I gave one to my dad and he hasn't mentioned anything to me about it not working and I got another for the local Humane Society. If you want to reload them or keep track of stuff you have to do something online on their site, but they're supposed to be used anywhere that Visa cards are accepted. I haven't tried doing porn with them since I have a debit card i use for that but you can easily buy one for $20 and test it out and if it doesn't work online, just use it to buy groceries or beer or something.

The internet has an infinite amount of free porn. If you can't find something to jerk to something is wrong with you.

I don't have to hide anything from my gf but I've never had a porn site charge on my credit card come up as XXXBIGTITSANDPUSSY. They always pick a very generic and inoffensive title for credit listings.

True. But if you have an "inquisitive" wife/girlfriend and she comes across your credit card bill she may have questions for you, and your answer will be... And that's fine if you are downloading the content on line over the web, but if you are ordering a physical DVD, it gets even trickier.
To answer your question, I wrote within, and about the porn industry for several magazines for probably the last fifteen years or so. I do know people involved in the production of adult videos and am good friends with one of the more respected, award-winning porn screenwriters from the nineties. I also used to shoot non adult film and know the costs of production, developing, casting, etc. I was also a managing editor of an non adult magazine and know how much money gets spent on distribution in print so it's not too difficult to extrapolate from there what costs would be involved in video. I freely admit I don't have the answers for the adult industry but do think others might which is why I started the thread. Like I said, I was a faithful renter up until five or six months ago. The download, streaming stuff has been around for several years and know that rampant piracy hurts everyone. But there also has to be a better way than acting like it's still 2002.
Mike, my relationship with Brazzers is clear, I distribute their DVD's. Mike you also have a few banners on your site (booble, pornliving) that have brazzers all over them, i'm sure you dont just have them up there for your health, you make money off of them....lets see if those come down.... Mike you arent in OUR industry, you are a wanna be gossip site, in fact you are harmful for OUR industry with you comments about our only testing facility, which has been under fire, in fact you contributed to possible condom mandatory action against the industry....... i'm still a great guy mike, despite how you try to paint me out to be, i've been shooting for 14 yrs, with very little help except for selling two amateur scenes to odyssey group, unless you have other conspiracy theories on my ties to AVN lol....(is that all you got?).... i've been posting here for years interacting with fans, I dont see many company owners here doing the same....free porn will always be out there....always has....the best way to not have your stuff on free sites is to be as vigilant as possible with letters and knowing where to find it....the DMCA laws will hopefully change one day.

The truth is Jules, everybody now knows who and what you are. You can take little shots all you like, but in a general sense yer right about one thing, Im no part of Your industry. Im a part of adult online, the industry that you are helping to rip off, the reason I got out of your industry is largely because of douche bags.....like you.
Oh and Jules...I pulled the booble link and I see no link to pornliving but if I do its coming down too....they were free links anyway. Now lets see you pony up and drop brazzers...or are you just another big mouthed hypocrite with no balls? Im betting thats a rhetorical question.... Be man Jules, own it or do something about it, dont talk about what a great guy you are when you send large amounts of money to the people who hurt us the most. You think Im a nobody, maybe yer right but if I used my site as a bully pulpit and told the AG/Jules Jordan story from day one I bet you'd be insisting I took it all down...funny how your phone rings when I post about you isn't it? I got lots more on you boy...LOTS more.

Moronic rationalizations. If you don't want to steal don't!

This is the perfect reason to keep buying DVDs. No hassle, no overcharges, no perpetual fees, no trouble canceling memberships. As for rationalizing stealing porn, everything after "but" is bullshit. Check this out, I was on a TV show called Sons of Anarchy for the first to seasons, I still get checks from them, I am at a convention and this guy walks up to me, he said, "you look like you are a guy who likes Sons of Anarchy." I said, "yeah, I love Sons of Anarchy." He says," well I need to pay some of my dental bills and I burned season one and two and I am selling them for $20 a piece." Are you fucking kidding me? I looked him right in the eyes and said you are a thief, you are stealing. And you are actually stealing from me, as I am on those two seasons. You are stealing from my friends and employers. This is no different than stealing online. none. Her gave me the discs he had and I broke them in front of him. Will he go home and burn more, maybe, maybe not. He sure got the message. Jamie Gardner sent me a list of offenders stealing Vivid content, thanks Jamie, and the same day we started serving cease and desists. We will go after whomever is stealing from us. Getting together with the rest of the industry has always been a behemoth task at the very least. It has always been that way.
in a strip club parking lot a guy on a bmx bicycle tried to sell me some porn at 50 cents per disc. he had a stack of discs on a spindle. at the time i was not in the mood to buy generic discount porn in a parking lot. now i suppose it was probably pirated porn.

Hahahahaha. I did all the technical directing of the Porn Business they went into at the beginning of the season, I did all the leatherwork, i.e. Jax's fathers diary in that leather cover and all the belts and wrist leathers they wear. I am one of the SOA members from Nevada. Background. They start shooting April 7th, for Sept. release. Great show, hope you enjoy it.

It's really weird to watch porn people (historically pretty much the embodiment of the anti-establishment set) acting pro-establishment on the issue of copyright protection. On one of these threads, someone offered up Clarence Thomas as a pro-porn advocate (which given his high regard for Long Dong Silver might well be the case). The lines seem to be quite blurred, enough so to give me a headache. Why can't everyone just make porn and not war?

Guilty: I admit, I steal porn. Shocking revelation, but before you all close in on me with the baseball bats, please take into account that what it is that I "steal" is material no longer available to buy. I have a particular appreciation for many starlets from the latter part of the 90s to the early part of the Naughties. So many of their scenes are not available as legittimate purchases, and as a result the only way is thanks to other aficionados who have these rare scenes, and who choose to share them (for free) with other like-minded fans. I am not a criminal, just a collector who takes for free what is not available to purchase... PPV is crap, and most of the time you do not have the privilege of actually owning the scene: you may only view it as a DRM stream. If I where to pay money for these rare porn scenes, I would like to know that I have a copy permanently in my hard drive, and not have to go back to some website each time I want to view it. There are so many starlets from the Turn Of The Millennium that I truly love, yet so many of their scenes cannot be had for love or money: if and when one turns up as a free download on a forum, I am going to snap it up: there is no other legitimate way!!

I'm not arguing and I'm SURE not judging or condemning you in the glass house I live in, but is it really true that on the whole internet, with all the ebay clones and ebay itself and all the producers' sites ready and willing to do anything for your money, that you can't find just about any performance you want?
I suppose if people want to, they can focus on the act of downloading, or on the admittedly insufficient rationalizations (and I admit such in my opening statement) I threw in. And porn, for once, in the three decades I've been watching it, paying and participating in the industry can claim the moral high ground. But in the end, so what? You're right, but if no one listens, what does it matter? If the neanderthal tells the cro-magnon "But I've got a larger cranial capacity!" as he's being phased out of evolution, it doesn't matter that he's right. It only matters that he's going to be extinct. The world of porn has everything right on their side in terms of copyright and ownership and I've already said that downloads and streaming vids are a seductive but ultimately destructive force that actually suck the enjoyment out of porn. And we can debate how long it'll be before there's an effective deterrent. I mean let's face it, there are hackers out there who can break into the Pentagon, how long before one of them comes up with an effective downloadable decrypter for any encoding that might come to exist out there. But from my perspective, guys don't care that much about a few dollars here and there and if you figure out a way to seize that audience back, the guy who'd drop five bucks in a Times Square to watch ten minutes of a movie because it was cheap and easy, maybe you'll re-ignite the industry. I just think that even a moderately informed discussion about new business models is better than just saying "don't steal." Because if there's one thing I know for certain it is that every day 90% of us are breaking some law. And the other ten % are lying about it. Edited by - irex on 2/5/2010 11:36:42 PM

The Pirate Party in Sweden says that all intellectual property laws (including copyright laws) should be abolished. In the most recent parliamentary elections, 7% of Swedes voted for the Pirate Party, gaining them their first seat in parliament. This is the world we now live in. Porn people are "the establishment" and Sweden is the enemy.
Let me guess...the members of The Pirate Party work really, really hard to create new and exciting things for the world to enjoy -- from art and graphic design to photography to music to mainstream movies to adult movies -- right?
Unfortunately it really is true: once a title has been deleted, and stocks run out, that's pretty much the end of it. eBay does not allow pornography to be sold on its site, and that is the case for its clones. If it weren't for those fans willing to share these precious back catalogue items, I wouldn't stand a chance. It does make you wonder why many Adult entertainment producers don't go through their archives, cherrypicking the very best scenes from the deleted catalogue to put together some anthologies. Anastasia Blue passed away in 2008, she still has many fans, but a great number of DVDs featuring her are no longer available: I am sure that good money could be made if some of her rare scenes were reissued. I for one would be buying...
Yes, they do and have for a very long time. Although they make it difficult to find. You have to go under "Advanced Search", select "Everything Else" from pull down menu and you will find "Adult Only" (it used to be "Mature"). Happy shopping. :)
And yes, it's true - movies just disappear and you can't find them new or used. The fact that companies go out of business all the time doesn't help either. Or that porn companies themselves seemed to have very little respect for their own products until recently. ...losing masters, distributing poor dubs, crappy chopjobs... 2.5 years later and I'm still looking for a DVD of "Starwoman". :( I'm sure there are fans here who have been looking for certain titles for decades.
I've been waiting for a release of Angela the Fireworks Woman to show up but I'm not going to resort to stealing to see it. A VHS copy went up for sale on eBay a while back but the bidding got to expensive for me.
i haven't used ebay in more than a year. i registered again, then did not like the requirement of credit card info before seeing any adult inventory. no ebay for me.

while you can purchase hard goods with paypal they still dont let you purchase memberships that way...only items that can be mailed.
Yeah to me, the same rules should apply. Somebody, somewhere, should still own it or have legal rights to it. I suppose it's a different dilemma, but in the end, it's still stealing all the same.

Here Here! And with VOD when your done your done...if you catch my drift... This business is filled to the brim with unrealistic motherfuckers who thought their ass aged like wine.--Marsellus Wallace
I did use VOD a lot (my equivalent to window shopping), but this whole 2:1, 3:1 crap pisses me off. I end up avoiding those titles which leaves me watching a lot of older product. You guys who think you musn't give any sort of cc info or sign up for some sort of age verification account are living in a dreamland. You're asking for the equivalent of not carding anyone to buy alcohol or cigarettes. It's just part of buying adult products.
Hi Mike, Yes, I read in another forum what you wrote about filming that scene with Anastasia: sounds very interesting. Under what title was it released? (Just to be sure I don't have it already). Don't you agree that a retrospective anthology on AB would find a market? After all, she was active for a short period of time, but left a big impression. Edited by - alexora on 2/7/2010 7:14:46 PM

it would be Mike South's Southern Belles 2000 Vol 2
To echo a couple of other sentiments here, I have a terrible time trying to find specific older films. What's a girl to do if she wants to watch Gayracula? (It's not even available as a download before accusations get thrown my way). But seriously, lets say there is an old film - Ultimate Reality, for example - that it seems is gone forever. I find a person in Kentucky who has a copy, and he says he will burn it for me. Do I accept the offer? I'm always conflicted over these scenarios, because I always want to buy the DVD, don't like to steal, but know that a lot of the films I research/write about are simply unavailable.
