Nice. I was thinking about portraying a higher dimension onto a lower dimension today when I was day dreaming. Like 4D onto a 3D model, or a 3D onto a 2D plane, etc. Interesting stuff.
Might string theory properly explain the curvature of Isis Taylor's ass? Does Einstein's General Relativity explain why whenever I see Kristina Rose, my dick is stuck to my hand? Where's Stephen Hawking when we need him? Edited by - algaliarept on 6/22/2010 5:16:30 AM
If by "inked" you mean tattoos, a lot of people complain about them. They just persist for no apparent reason other than the fact that the girls themselves seem to want them. I'm not sure how it is at this very moment but when I was last looking for great porn with girls who didn't have tattoos, it was very hard to find. And when I did find a girl I liked, she'd show up a month later with a tattoo. It seemed like every girl had at least one if she'd been in the business more than a few months. I don't know what you mean about "grannies". My personal preference is for girls between 18 and 25 who have some curves. Roseanne Barr is (Or was. I don't know about now) fat. Most of the girls in the porn industry don't even come close. They're just about right. Average. About the same as what you'd see if you went to a club or something. The real problems are tattoos, implants, bad angles and generally sloppy camera work and direction and bad male performances featuring limp, crooked cocks. But you can throw fake moaning and contrived dirty talk in there too.

I literally mean "grannies" - 60+ year old women in porn releases. So, you've got that kind of content mixed in with mainstream porn among the new releases. How many times do you think that creates an uncomfortable situation for some couple who are simply trying to buy or rent a porn title for a little romantic evening? At best, it's a buzzkill. At worst, it's a non-sale or canceled subscription.
All industries change, but porn is in no way dying... just transforming... thanks to the internet and increasing openness of younger girls. There are so many ways now to contact stars. To see or be seen yourself.. The variety has most likely taken some of the DVD revenue. I would like to see more stars be able to sell and produce there own content.
Well, it hasn't happened to me. I usually look at the pictures on the cover. If I see anything that turns me off, it goes back to the shelf. I still end up seeing implants from time to time because they often succeed in hiding them on the cover and I don't know every girl in porn who has implants. One thing you have to just accept about porn (even mainstream porn) is that you can't just grab anything and expect it to be your cup of tea. Especially if you're picky. I don't blame anyone for being picky. I'm picky. But the porn industry does what it does and we largely have to sort the junk from the gold ourselves or we don't get porn. The world's treasures have always been lost in a sea of useless silt. Those who wished to mine them have always had to work hard. It sucks but there you have it. Finding good porn is not a task for a casual shopper. I used to go to a great video store that went the extra mile and tried to categorize their porn selection. So you would have sections like "Teen" "Mature" "Gay" and so forth. Even then, finding something I liked out of thousands and thousands of titles was largely a guessing game that was only slightly enhanced by having the convenience of covers that were usually reasonably accurate representations of the contents. Frequently, the cover still looks a lot better than what you actually get. Edited by - randomprecision on 6/22/2010 8:09:11 PM
Haha. Not sure about the ass part, but Brian Greene (I think) said that's why it's almost impossible to put the fabric of space-time and Einstein's Theory of General Relativity and the warpage of space-time in a 3D model that we can envision. Our minds are geared towards 3D, not 4D. Einstein said he even had problems envisioning it. i'm a dork. haha.
IMHO, I used to see this phenomena thousands of times more in the 90's than I do now. It was common when I first began buying porn (it was VHS back then - ahh memories) and the back cover might show the gal fully nude or in a certain postion, that it would turn out, only occurred when they shot the stills and never made it on film. I can't say that I've witnessed this in the last 5 years or more. Edited by - algaliarept on 6/24/2010 10:23:15 AM

There's a long thread around here somewhere about box-cover lies and how much of a negative impact they have on consumer satisfaction... It's just one thing in a LONG list of consumer complaints about the porn industry... And they wonder what their reasons might be for sales supposedly being down.....

please..wake up call....the porn video production side of this industry can thrive by producing ultra quality porn, only the hottest girls, best scenes, great lighting and angles, go 3d and clarity...internet video viewed on the computer cannot compete with dvd on a large screen...shoot in 3d.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but a lot of people don't even watch the whole movie. They rent/buy just to watch a particular girl or two. From that standpoint, the entire current porn business model is fucked up, since many consumers are thinking "why should I pay for five scenes when I'm only interested in two?" The situation is very similar to the old album situation, where you had no alternative but to buy ten songs in addition to the one you'd heard on the radio. Only now, there IS an alternative.
Has anyone ever had trouble with one or the other billing company by the way? That's another factor for me. I'm always reluctant to give my data to a biller that doesn't already have them. Don't mean to sidetrack the thread, but some input on which billing companies people trust would be helpful. Also: Web-based porn businesses could often really be a bit more transparent about what exactly they're offering. I keep seeing sites where I have to search in the small print for how often they update and in what resolution etc. I've said it before in another thread, ultimately it often comes down to whether or not I feel I can trust the company I'm considering buying from. (And their billing company, too.)
There used to be like 15 porn stores in my area.. Only two of them are still running with very few DVD's. Porn is changing for sure...

The ability to preview DVDs is killing them. No more relying on reviews or boxcovers. I'm just not buying/renting it for one scene. And the days of fast forwarding past mope ass are over!
Books, music, magazines, newspapers and porn are all being affected by the internet. There is so much free stiff out there. And all theses people on there who say "That if they made the sort of pron they want" they would buy it. Would they ? What if someone could come up with a site where you could watch free porn , and make a donation via paypal after you have watched or download it. I would use that, as I think its fair that the actress and the studio get something.
The whole notion of porn biz dying is just laughable. It ain't dying the business is just changing. Just about every business has had to deal with theft and piracy -- content biz (e.g. movies, TV, music, news, magazine, etc) clothing biz (e.g. brand counterfeit like fake Gucci bags, NFL hats, etc) credit card biz (e.g. identity theft, card cloning, etc) why should the porn biz be different? What are the typical strategies businesses used to deal with theft 1. loss prevention You make it harder to steal your stuff. The music and mainstream movie guys tried DRM and it failed. DRM will also fail for porn guys. But notice how analog ports on video/audio equipment has disappeared? Now everything is HDMI which has copy protection features. But build a better mouse trap and the mouse gets smarter. Every content protection method will eventually be cracked and most often its cracked by the same engineers who build those devices. I remember I used to buy cable boxes hacked to give free PPV channels from the guys who worked as cable box repairmen and made money on the side doing that. Same guys working on DRM software are the ones cracking it. So don't count on DRM solutions. So you go after the pirates typically thru legal means. The music and mainstream movie guys have already gone thru what the porn guys are seeing with tubesites etc. They decided to sue the users posting their content. Questionable how effective this has been. It's like playing whack a mole. You have to decide how much its worth doing this. Porn sites like Kink.com are aggressive in tracking down their content on tubesites and making them take it down. They are big and profitable enough that they can afford to hire lawyers to back up their threats. You rarely see their content on tube sites. It cost money to do this so they probably factor this into their business model (see (2)). Quality is another factor. Counterfeit clothing brands may not have the same quality detering people from buying them. Well tubesites have pretty low resolution video compared to DVD and Blu-ray. They also don't have extras on tubesites. Its probably a minor advantage but something to think about that content guys may be able to exploit. 2. adjust your business model and economics accordingly
Credit card companies accept the fact that they will lose millions of dollars every year to thieves and they are still some of the most profitable companies in the country. They do just enough to prevent major losses and write off the rest. Porn companies may have to do the same.
As stated above Kink.com spends money to protect their content. But they also can get away with charging higher PPV fees than other streaming websites because their content is so unique. Who competes with Kink.com? Their sets are like no other because they spent millions to acquire the Armory site in downtown SF. That was brilliant. They are essentially a small movie studio. They decided to go big and make enough money to offset losses from theft. They also improved the quality of the content making it worth paying for .. something several people here suggested but some of the porn producers blew off. The much maligned Brazzers is another example. They tend to use best looking women and nice sets not shooting in someones garage.
You can also go the opposite direction ... go cheap/small. Downsize your operation (shrink staff) and reduce operating cost. Then charge enough to make comfortable profit for a much smaller business. You won't make millions like Kink.com but for a small unit you can make good money. Hush Hush is probably a good example of this, I think they are a pretty small operation. Yes you will still have content stolen but you write that off as cost of doing business. So some older bigger companies may have to downsize to stay in business. Remember not everyone's content as unique as Kink.com. Definitely not enough to completely nix DVD sales and go VOD only. Kink.com is pretty smart. 3. legislate the problem The music and mainstream movie guys used their lobbying power to try to pass laws to stop the pirates or those adding pirates. They got some protection but not as much as they wanted. They doesn't mean they won't stop trying.
No congressman will even consider backing something to protect porn but porn guys could throw their money in with the non-adult content guys to buy more lobbying influence. Alternatively, porn guys could try is to go after tube sites for not adhering to 2257 law. All those porn clips being shown don't have the info about who to contact for age verification etc. Now the porn sites themselves may not be libel but their users who are uploading content are in violation maybe? The tube sites may be forced to check every clip to make sure that its in complaince for 2257. Bitching and moaning about tube and torrent sites isn't going to make them go away. I think a lot of the porn guys complaining need to just face the reality that economics of their business has changed. They won't be able to easily make money like they used to. That's like the old adult movie theater owners complaining when VHS came out. It's time to stop complaining and improvise, adapt, and overcome. And if you can't do that then get out of the business and get a regular job like the rest of us.
Absolutely I would. I do this with music and TV shows all the time. First, I download for free, and then when I find something I really like and want to support, I'll buy the DVD/CD/legal download. I buy a lot more music now than I did five years ago, simply because downloading fuels my obsession and exposes me to way more interesting music than FM radio or MTV ever did back in the day. The problem with porn is that, while I keep searching and searching, it seems that nobody out there is making the kind of porn I really want to see. I used to waste a lot of money on disappointing porn, but now I don't have to anymore. I'll still keep watching, because I'm always hoping for the holy grail, but until I find it, I'm not going to pay.
I joined Brazzers tonight. Mostly for the Brandi Edwards 'You Drive A Hard Boner Bargain' scene. Hard anal on a pretty petite girl. Looks good and just dl'd the 720p version since the 1080p wasn't available for some reason. Lots of other good stuff on there. Only the anal/dp/group/rimming stuff interests me, but there's a lot of good stuff on there otherwise. Looks like a lot of fun.
^Yes, but that's because you bought a 1 year membership and therefore have paid for the required 6 months minimum price already. It's not a secret that Brazzer rewards all their members with access to their 1080p content only after you have been a paying member for six months. I'm one of those that now has access to the 1080p because I have renewed my one month memebership for more than 6 months. Say what you will about Brazzers business decisions. They make some of the best internet porn there is and get the best performers to do some pretty nasty stuff for them.
Ah ok. Now that you mention that I have read that here before. 720p's good for now though. I plan on staying a member for a whiles anyways. Good stuff.
Anti-piracy messages on dvds. I just saw one on a New Sensations dvd. It's a long message about illegal downloading that can't be skipped or ff'd. The people who download won't see it because they don't watch dvds. The uploaders who see it may think they're doing a public service by making this lesbian video available without Ron Jeremy in it. I had high hopes when I saw the cast, but New Sensations is back on my boycott list.
Piracy = tubesites + fileshares + torrents + dvd copying My guess is fileshares makes the biggest impact, but tubesites and torrents get the most attention and blame.
Filesharing probably affected porn the most two or three years ago, but tubesites are so easy to access that they would seem to be the top revenue drain today IMO.

Tubesites get the most traffic, HUGE traffic, and they have the advantage of not having to download something to one's computer, so no tech requirements and no worries about the wife/gf finding porn on the computer.
Aren't tubesites, torrents and filesharing sort of linked together? I mean, stuff getting downloaded from one place and then uploaded to another one. How hard is it really, if one is realistic about it, to get these sites shut down or to get your content removed from these sites?

From what I hear Torrent sites are dead now so it won't be long before before tube sites follow, at the very least the content won't be as available for the people to upload to the tube sites.

2 torrent sites being down with many more being left is hardly them being done. As for tube sites, they'll stick around, as will other ways to download adult content for free.
Can the industry survive the free content provided by tube sites? IMO only the best and strongest will survive. Many marginal producers have folded. The herd is being thinned. The silver lining is that Donny Long's company bit the dust.
I don't watch porn anymore. It's not as interesting as reading stuff on another forum. If there are lots of former porn viewers like me, then porn's own staleness and failure to hold a viewer's interest may surpass piracy as the cause of its decline. I thought of having my username deactivated, but this forum still has the easiest pic display process, and I sometimes find interesting threads in WN&N and Polls.

^ I think you're extending your own (understandable) boredom to too many others. There will always be an endless supply of 18-year-old boys looking to whack off.
Porn isn't dying. It'll always exist in one form or another. Whether it can remain viable in its current form is a bit of a question. I'm always willing to pay a fair price for my porn. That said, though, I have a HELL of a time finding enough of what I actually like to justify spending very much money on it. For example, I like the production values that Evil Angel offers us, or the tease machine that has made Jules Jordan the success he's become, but I REALLY REALLY don't need 4+ hours of it and a freakin' multi-disc release every time a new movie comes out. Am I the only one who thinks less is more when it comes to porn? I don't know about you, but I'll take a really well performed and tightly edited 15 minute scene over any hour long marathon that just bores me to freakin' tears ANY day. A lot of producers seem to think that in order to justify the dollars they charge us, giving us more FOOTAGE is the answer. To that I say, wrong, wrong WRONG! Leave something on the cutting room floor, and today's DVD makers will pick it up and put it somewhere on the disc and call it more justification for charging us $25-$35 for a disc that I would only be interested in watching maybe 10 minutes of when all is said and done. To me it's akin to a fancy sit down restaurant trying to dress up a hamburger by making it 1/2 a pound, using cheddar cheese, sticking it on some kinda special bun, adding some kind of complicated mushroom sauce and then slapping a $20 price tag on it, when all I ever want out of a hamburger I can get at In-N-Out Burger for $3.00. Porn is just as much a slave to the all mighty profit machine as any other industry. When producers AND consumers alike finally start realizing that "more" is not "better" we might actually find a way to step back and change the paradigm--but since every business from fast food to cell phones do the exact same thing, I'm not holding my breath that porn will figure out how to right the ship any time soon. It's a two way street--the consumers are just as much to blame as the producers. I fear that I and many of my older-school ADT brethren are no longer the target audience. And hey... I'm okay with that. I've adapted. :) To bring it back to Stormy--hey. She's a smart lady. If she's fed up with the industry, I don't blame her. Edited by - MLyons on 2/7/2011 7:23:15 AM
I am ready to watch porn again, but not yet ready to financially commit to a monthly membership, and the first one I want to see is out to customers at both of my favorite rental outlets.
