I make this observation every time this subject comes up, and I wouldn't want to disappoint the thousands that are no doubt waiting for it here. Every time what's wrong with porn is addressed on ADT, there are virtually the same collection of complaints from the customers. And yet, porn producers keep making the same stuff with the same annoyances, the same poor editing, the same terrible acting and poor quality, etc. There used to be a saying that the customer is always right. These days MOST businesses seem to ignore that one, but in the porn business the saying seems, almost from the beginning, to have been, "the customer? Who cares?."

They do worse than ignore the customers... They try to blame their supposed woes on the customer... They try to claim that it's the consumers fault when they try to say they're not making enough money (how much money do you expect to make for making porn? You're not curing cancer, or sending people to Mars... ) It seems to me that there's a sense that the porn companies think they are owed something? As if they were providing this great and essential service...
Completely agree. And yet I would be spending a lot of money on adult films, a lot, if I could easily find what I want and order it tailored just for me. But I can't. And other guys I talk to can't. Including girls can't find what they want either. Much of the porn industry is not evolving with our times, you can personalize your I-Phone, you can personalize your computer, your kitchen, your car, your vacation experience, but it is near damn impossible to personalize your porn.
A few things I wish they would change. This throat gagging oral sex where the girl sounds like she is ready to vomit isn't working. I'm so glad to see this finally written out! The industry attributes most of its decline to consumers who download free porn. While I'm sure that has had somewhat of an impact, porn, like music, has been available via torrent and tube sites for years now. Surely there's something else going wrong with the business aside from the economy and illegal downloads. It seems like a cop-out to me--not to mention that at least one major porn company was uploading most of the shit to the tube sites itself! Talk about self-sabotage. And aside from the porn addicts and extreme fans (excuse me, I should probably say critics and connoisseurs :)), I assume most people don't need a huge, extensive, constantly updated porn collection to make them happy. Speaking for myself, I'm not going to pay $25-35 a pop for DVDs, site memberships, etc. I'm not made of money, and the content often isn't worth it. Plus the existence of comps that allege new content when there is none (can't believe these are even still around) pisses me off and makes me wary of spending more than a bare minimum on porn. Stop blaming the consumer for everything. Have some accountability and actually LISTEN to what customers have to say. Every other industry does market research. Why shouldn't porn?

You got me! I've never really understood that part either. Maybe they think it simply doesn't matter if it's shitty since they didn't pay for it. My argument is that most of them are simply too lazy or cheap to go find it for a reasonable price legally. I will say this though. I seriously doubt the amount of free/illegal porn is equal to the amount of porn that generally gets produced yearly. In that sense, pornographers are gonna eventually have to take a serious look in the mirror with what they generally produce. I've learned to lower my standards and expectations, as well as how to find what I generally like. Most probably aren't as patient as guys like me though. That's an evasion of the issue, exactly the kind of rationalization most porn makers use to keep doing things the way they are comfortable doing them. I don't think the stealing of porn says anything about its quality. People will pretty much take what they can get for nothing. Whether it's a Ferrari or a rusted out pickup truck, if the keys are in the ignition SOMEBODY will take it. I think porn thrived when it had no competition so people took what they could get. If it was poor technical quality, full of annoyances like cameramen talking and giving instructions during the scene; if the sex was zombie-like or the acting non existent, too bad. If you wanted porn, that's the porn you got and you had to make do, renting and buying endless hours of drivel looking for the few nuggets of good stuff. Why so few in the industry seem to understand that things have changed I don't know. Human nature I guess. Detroit had to go bankrupt, literally, before it started making a decent product, and it looks as though that's what's happening in porn. Now, anyone can make their own porn, and they do. Some of it's pretty good too -- at least they are enjoying themselves. If you want porn, you don't have to take what you can get. You don't even have to pay for it. And yet, the professional pornographers are doing the same things in the same way as when they were the only source of erotica. Is paying attention to the customers and giving them a better product the answer to all of porn's woes? Of course not. Is ANYTHING going to restore the golden age of easy money for next to no effort? Nope. Maybe their feet are cold. Maybe it's like the guys always keeping their socks or their socks and shoes on in the old stag films, which they did in case the cops showed up and they had to get away quick. Maybe they want to convey a sense of urgency and passion, as if they're so horny they don't want to waste time taking their shoes off (no, I don't believe that one, either).

Hmmm...things I dislike about porn? (in no particular order) 1.) Over the top "acting" like they are into it,when clearly they are not. 2.) Terrible music! Why not just have no music?
